Making a shorter move from Milwaukee to Madison, I thought the convenience of the U-Haul boxes would be easy enough. I have had nothing but terrible experiences both with the moving company that filled the boxes not arriving until five hours after their initial scheduled time, and over a month delay in having the boxes shipped to my new city, even after making a payment of over $1000 to have them “gentle moved “.Now that we are moved to our new city, I have spent a cumulative of greater than three hours on the phone ON HOLD in trying to arrange delivery to our new home. I have spoken with five different individuals none of whom were able to help me to schedule delivery of the boxes of my own property. This experience has been absolutely horrendous, and I will never use Uhaul for any move I make in the future.
As you all know now, my husband and I moved to Milwaukee in July. Unfortunately, we moved from Stevens Point, on the hottest day of the year. And if you do not remember, I will remind you. The hottest day of the summer was June 29th, 2018. It was at that point, that it was the hottest day, as we did have a few others after. Of course, it was the day that we moved as my husband was going to be starting the new job on that Monday.The moving from Stevens Point to Milwaukee was unbearable. It was hot and humid. My parents were angels helping us and they saved us that day. Anyway, we werent able to get to the storage place that evening as we had said we would. They were fine with that and we went the next day to drop off the truck we were so excited when the storage was air-conditioned. We were in the humidity the day before and moving the stuff into the storage unit was amazing. It was easy to do and took no time at all.The staff there is absolutely friendly and you do get a free month. That is not a myth. All we had to pay for was the lock. So, I would go to this place a hundred more times if I have to but I really dont want to because moving just sucks in general. But, I am glad that this place exists because I would come here again in a heartbeat.
Very pleased with my uhaul rental. Baki the owner was very accommodating and fair when the previous uhaul rental was late. Great rental location too. This store has everything you can imagine you would need for a rental. And lots of great priced boxes. Cheaper than Home Depot.

Do not ever reserve for after hours mobile pickup from here. The app assigns you a truck and guides you to pick-up the keys from the lockbox, but for whatever reason the lock boxes are empty. If this location doesnt want to offer the after hours mobile pickup service they should notify it before hand instead of inconveniencing customers on a weekend night.
Don’t waste your time with propane fills here. takes way too long because of understaffing. cheaper and way quicker to do a tank exchange. also the stores pos equipment never works. only plus the employee was friendly

That’s the worst service I’ve ever had. Whenever I come by this location there’s always a long line of people waiting for service. Staff are not working and the front desk is always empty. You will have to wait for 20, 30 minutes to get your service done. If you wanna waste your time, that’s the right place!

They have poor communication and they dont do what they say theyre going to do. I booked my appointment to have a trailer hitch installed on my car online 2 weeks in advance. I chose the option to wait while they install vs dropping my car off. After booking my appointment I emailed them asking if I could change my appointment date. They never replied to my email. When I arrive on the day of my scheduled 11am appointmemt they tell me that the car will be ready at 6:00pm. They expect me to wait around for SEVEN HOURS? I had to make arrangements to get picked up and dropped back off to pick up my car. Very inconvenient. When I arrive at 6pm to pick up my car ITS STILL NOT READY! The car wasnt ready until after 645pm. 0% chance I ever come back here or recommend them to anyone.
I have rented a few times from this location. If you reserve in advance it is the best. Last time I reserved in advance and ordered a 1 day van with $10 damage waiver I still had to wait in line even though I did online check in with the APP. Upon check in with owner Baku Alwaisi he said I had 2 Dollies on my order, I said I didnt order those I ordered the damage waiver. He said he would have to cancel the order and reorder. He then reordered but put incorrect phone # and also omitted the damage waiver but charged me for it. Upon return of vehicle, I was unable to return it using the APP since incorrect phone # then charged 20.00 for not using the APP to return after hours. The $47.00 charge was now $67.84. smh
I had made my reservation on the phone with a representative of U-Haul but when I arrived to pick up my truck, the owner explained some cheaper options for me. I am very grateful my cost dropped from $83 estimated to $35! The process was pretty simple and quick. All the employees I interacted with were polite and answered all of my questions! Will definitely use again if needed!

I had a 17 truck booked 8 days in advance. The pick up time was 7am (to 6pm) and I couldnt make it early so I went there couple hours later. The pick up date was Saturday 30th of May. Since the weeked was busy and the whole virus situation I only could find movers in Menomonee Falls. The movers came and waiting for me by my place while I was in the line for one hour. By the time it was my turn, they told me there is no 17 truck in this branch at all and I had the confirmation email on my phone. I asked them to give me any other size and they said all other sizes are booked already. They gave me a number to call and said Next. I paid $220 to the movers for waiting on me and came back home empty handed and unpacked some boxes to make myself a bed and stay the night in my old place.
Im driving across the country to pick up a trailer from another uhaul location. I took my truck here to get pre inspected and make sure it could haul the load. Carl was friendly and very helpful- he even double checked our lights to make sure we’d be good to go when we were out of state. Thank you!
Worst service ever calling the next day, to charge for fees that don’t even make sense, I do not recommend, or plan to rent again from this service, they charge about 200$ InTotal for 8 hours and fees.Really disappointed I this business!!!
The owner was working on Saturday at 7:30 when I arrived to pick up my 26 rental. He was very helpful and the check-in process was very smooth. My only suggestion would be to bring an ice scraper / snow brush with you if its winter time, all they had was a little broom and no scraper. Very quick and painless process, thanks!

Very helpful and nice. Let me wait there with my car when I had a flat. Helped me pick out boxes and load them into my car.Update: last time I was here I needed book boxes. I had a fairly detailed conversation about how difficult it was too find them and that I had a long drive just to get them. Im an older female and cant move larger boxes. So I *thought* I purchased book boxes. They were put into my car. IMAGINE MY SURPRISE WHEN I ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION AND FOUND THE !SMALL! BOXES. I was dumbfounded and had to hire someone to move my boxes. I was 3 hours away and there were no local boxes. Long story short: order your boxes delivered directly from uhaul.
Showed up to pick up a reserved uhaul, was told that there was a note in the computer that I had been called Wednesday and that a message was left saying I’d need to go to a different location. Asked what number was called and it was the right number but I was not called. I get that you don’t always get your preferred location but they supposedly called two days ago and didn’t try to reach back out to confirm. Incredibly disappointed with the whole situation, we lost over an hour of time from our day from having to go to the opposite side of town.
Lazy and rude employees that work outside pulling out trucks and receiving them back in. The only good customer service was the red head gentleman that saw there was an overcharge and credited my account right away. Otherwise our truck was raggedy and the transmission was lackluster. One of the taillights was out. Unbelievable. They need to completely overhaul U-haul!
I am only leaving 1 star because 0 is not an option. We rented a 10 foot uhaul from this location in order to move my boyfriends things to my apartment in Germantown. Pick up was fine. When we left the lot immediately a notification came on saying system detterent came on the dash. This tells me that they may not keep up on maintenance the way they should. However this was not even our main issue. Upon drop off is where the nightmare began. We dropped off the vehicle, at 10 oclock at night, using their convenient 24/7 drop off. The instruction we were given was to use the mobile app or website. Neither were working. We tried calling customer service who said they needed to transfer our call due to high call volume. No one ever picked up. They disconnected our phone call. At this point we realized it was up to us as to figure out what to do with the key. There were no signs indicating if or where a drop box may be located. So, thinking the general manager here knew how to run a business, we thought maybe they have a back up key and we were to leave the key in the vehicle since it was not indicated that there was a drop box available. Being that this area of town has a high volume of vehicle theft, we left the key in the uhaul and locked the doors. Turns out there was a black drop slot, located on a black wall with no signs telling where it was. I will admit that was our mistake which is fine mistakes happen. The issue is how the general manager handled the situation. This man has absolutely no customer service skills. At 7 am our phone rings, waking us out of a dead sleep, after a hard night of moving. Instead of simply informing us of our mistake and the miscommunication on their part, he immediately starts yelling at my barely awake boyfriend about how we locked his only key in the truck and will be charging us $150 for doing so. We explained the situation, drop slot not indicated, app not working, couldnt get through to customer service, and he continued to yell about how its our fault and $150 would be charged. At this point we got off the phone and called customer service who informed us they have no control, the general manager makes the final decision. At this point we decide to drive from Germantown to this location in order to use my AAA to hopefully avoid the $150 fee. Upon arrival I spoke with Baki, the general manage, and explain we had AAA coming. He said he would cancel the lock smith and not charge us. I then addressed the customer service issue. I explained that his tone on the phone was completely inappropriate and thats just not how you treat people, let alone paying customers. His response was your boyfriend was rude as well the phone conversation was recorded. I told him that I would admit my boyfriend did not handle the situation well on the phone, but that it was because he set the tone of the conversation by yelling at him at 7am when neither of us were really awake. I explained that if we would have been informed by his employees that the key needed to be put in the drop slot we certainly would have done so. He responded by saying we cant blame him for what his employees did or didnt do. I said theyre his employees its 100% his responsibility that they give his customers the information necessary to have a successful drop off. I reiterated multiple times that if he had called and been kind or had even a shred of customer service skills this could have been dealt with an hour ago. I told him we wouldve happily driven down to utilize our AAA to rectify the situation. He would barely let me get 2 words in before talking over me and yet again yelling at me about how its my fault and not his problem (being that its his uhaul and his business I would think it is in fact his problem). Bottom line is that Baki is not kind, is a poor business man, and has no customer service skills. Even the employees said he is a jerk to customers when we explained the situation. I recomend going elsewhere and if they are the only option you have, you are better off delaying your move.
They confirmed my online reservation same day, however upon arriving they notified me that no U-Hauls were available.
Ordered a uhaul for pickup. This location did not have the uhaul we ordered and paid for.I understand availability is based on location, but uhaul did not communicate that we would need to pick up at another location.This failure to communicate put a large delay on our move.Can not recommend this location.
U-Haul here had great service, night drop off, and reasonable rates. Was able to move across town in one day thanks to their help.
The new manager Baki is fantastic! Overall service, cleanliness and convenience have increased tremendously since his arrival. I would recommend their storage facilities to everyone!
I do not recommend going to this location. Heres why:Everytime I go, there is some challenge.Tried to get a trailer hitch for the car, ran into problems for a few weeks and had to go elsewhere.Rented a truck to help a friend move to Seattle, it took over an hour of complications to get it off the lot with more fees than what was promised.I wanted to buy a box for shipping something and it they said they had one. Turns out there are two box types with the same name (little wardrobe or something like that). Turns out they didnt have the right box. Manager inisited they did, but they only had the incorrect version of the little warddrobe, and in the wrong spot. Before leaving, I saw that many boxes were incorrectly placed and I moved them to the proper place to help out other customers.A lack of interest and ownership can be found at this location. Employee and managers are unequipped to perform tasks such as organization and customer service.If you must go here, do the research yourself about what you need and spend minimal time interacting with managers/employees.
They have good prices for trailering stuff. They seem to lose or struggle to find reservations made on line, and service is a little slow. There always seems to be someone ahead of me arguing with the clerk.
Love the employee work force, relates to customers problems and are willing to help you out. On the other hand, the gm Baki has his head so far up his ass that he wont give two shits about the customer or the employees. Not impressed with the over all management but the employees kept their heads straight.t.
Its frickin U-haul. Theyre all kind of alike. Beware $19.99 easily becomes $50 with all their little hidden costs.
I will never get any service done from this place, they installed my trailer hitch wrong, it took 5 hours to install it on a Dodge caravan van most popular van in America wires were installed wrong. luckily we didnt get into an accident. My muffler is hanging and hitting the hitch because they broke the bolt on it. Now I will have to waste more time to get it uninstall and take it to a professional. Can you believe they do this for a living. oh there warranty says you can take it to any uhaul for service thats also a lie because i keep getting sent back to the east capital location. By the way zero stars i had to put one star otherwise it doesnt let you post the review

Terrible service. I tried to get a hitch installed on my sub are forester. The first person I talked to had to keep putting the phone down to ask another coworker how to do his job. Then the second person I talked too couldnt give me a full quote because she didnt know how. When I asked to talk to someone who did she hung up on me. Never going to this place.
I stopped by to refill propane tanks and was told by an obviously idle employee that they were too busy to help, and could only do so after an hour, with no apology for the inconvenience. An obvious sign management doesnt really want to provide good customer service. Going elsewhere.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Employees are lazy and rude. Employee told me there were no trucks available for a future date, and refused to call or check other locations for availability. Furthermore, I was quite literally SHAMED for the sin of wanting a moving truck on **GASP** the FIRST OF THE MONTH. I was reminded of this fact at least 3 times, to the point where it seemed like she was annoyed that I wanted a truck on a busy day. Never again, do not go here unless you want to be talked down to and have your time wasted.Employees name was CARMEN.
I was grossly overcharged for mileage after being told I had a full tank and had to return a full tank, well before I left I checked the fuel and it was not full. They attempted to charge me 42.00 instead of 29.00 and I had to bring this to their attention. Also, when I checked my credit card, I was billed at 242.00 instead of the 4 hor rate of 19.99. I demanded an adjustment and pproff that they adjusted it. I am glad I ran it as credit and will follow up with my bank because I have a pending charge of 210.00 more than I should. BTW no apologiy was offered.

When parts for my hitch install took a turn for the worst, the installer, Durrell, took matters in his own hands and worked to find the parts and finish the job. Durrell kept me updated and was very professional. Thank you for going above and beyond!!

I had reserved a 26 Uhaul and they called and said the people before me refused to return it on time, so instead the only truck they were able to give me was a 10 Uhaul and a 6x12 pull behind van trailer.. I was told the only 26 Uhaul available was over 90 miles away. The 10 truck and the trailer was half the total cubic footage of the 26 Uhaul. I had to pick up the 10 truck in Pewaukee which was 45 minutes away from my place and had to pick up the trailer at a different location. Every person in line had a problem with their reservation and I didnt see a single happy face. The 26 would of been $150, I ended up paying $200 for the 10 truck and the van trailer. We filled up both the truck and the trailer and didnt have nearly enough room to move all of our stuff. We couldnt take multiple trips as our move out date was the 31st and we couldnt move in until noon on the 1st. I had to call and try to find another 6x12 trailer to pull behind my truck which cost me another $98 and had to pick it up at a third location 20 minutes away. I talked to a manager at this location and wanted a discount because I had to pay $150 dollars more than I was supposed to and wasted over 3 hours of the move out day driving around to pick up all the different trucks and trailers, he refused to give me a discount. When drop off time came I was scheduled to drop off the 10 truck and trailer at one location and the other trailer at a second location 30 minutes away from each other. The Uhaul rep scheduled me at a drop off location that didnt exist yet… the gas station clerk said they were in the works of constructing it and didnt know why they were in the system. I had to call Uhaul back and was able to get me the same drop off location near Brookfield for the truck and trailers after a 20-30 minute wait on hold. This location was a lot nicer and better than the other three locations I had to drive too… it probably seemed nicer because I didnt have to go inside and wait in line. The drop off was the best the part of the whole ordeal because I was finally done with Uhaul… Lets just say I will not be using Uhaul again. Expect to be disappointed every time, Ive never had a smooth move with them.
