Its a rather small footprint, but they have packed in everything you want or need there.Im pretty sure he said that the store opened in 1974!Friendly and very knowledgeable staff working there. They answered all my concerns and questions. And very quickly will generate a cost quote for what you want done on your bicycle. The costs are competitive and the work is always completed timely and to your satisfaction.I will continue to go there and have estimates on work to be done, and if they are the low bidder or the only place that I can find something, I will purchase from them again.Thank you, Hub Co-op at the U of M.

Absolute gem of a shop for service and parts. Lisa was extremely helpful and helped us get a tandem issue resolved on the eve of the US Paralympic Team Trials

Came in because I thought I needed a tune-up. David was honest and told me my bike was in good shape and didn’t need any work. He made some adjustments for free and didn’t try to sell me stuff I didn’t need. I would 100% recommend David and The Hub.

Awesome and knowledgeable service, with polite technicians. They have gotten multiple of my broken bikes up and running for a very low price. For some very small issues that dont require parts and are a short bit of labor they have even done on the house work.Absolutely the best bike repair shop in the area, and 10% if youre associated with the U.

Staff was very respectful and understanding! Went in both brakes broken, and it turned out to be a 2 minute fix. I offered to pay since I was happy to finally get my bike back in working order, but the mechanic didnt ask for anything and told me he was happy to help! I will certainly come back if (when) I need maintenance.

Helpful staff. Happy to talk with me about what theyre doing or showing me how to adjust things myself. Very encouraging and friendly. Used them to get a quote for damages after an accident, they handled paperwork and my bike quickly and helped me figure it all out. I dont go anywhere else if Im in the twin cities.

I have my own business. I work with a lot of small businesses. Im a connoisseur of service. The Hubs shop on the East Bank provides outstanding service. My 20 year old Trek 1000 needed an overhaul. The staff I worked with practice consultative selling. Making suggestions. Explaining. Focused, but no hard sell. The final bill was less than the estimate and the work was completed a day ahead of schedule. Even better? Theyre a coop.

1 Day turnaround on a bike Ive not ever had in the shop as far as I remember, 7-8yrs old, tuned up no problem. Replaced a brake and was going to replace the bottom bearing the gears, but discovered it was actually just installed wrong, thats what was causing the problem. They could have screwed me and charged me the full price for the repair and I would have been none the wiser, but they just reinstalled the old ones correctly and saved me the 30 bucks extra! Very knowledgeable and give a 10% discount to students & staff of the University of Minnesota on parts!

Got a broken spoke fixed -- no major complaints about the actual work. My complaint is that it took 2 days, whereas my dad took his bike to Freewheel Bike (West Bank) about a week later for a whole laundry list of repairs (including several broken spokes) and they had the job done 4 hours later.I appreciate there are varying levels of busy-ness at any shop, so I wouldnt hold it against them except that Id appreciate not being made to feel impatient when I politely call for a status update mid-afternoon on the 2nd day. The staff member was very careful to (overly politely) tell me that it wasnt *their* fault that there was a miscommunication about the expected finish time -- I didnt care whose fault this supposed miscommunication was, I was just checking for a status update so that I could plan my commute without risking leaving the repaired bike another night because I couldnt plan ahead. This was my first time getting repairs at The Hub, and compared to years of very timely service at Freewheel (even getting an apology for keeping a bike overnight once), I have to say Ill probably go back to Freewheel from now on despite them being farther away from my regular route. (Also if we want to get incredibly nitpicky, The Hub returned my bike missing the tire valve stem cap (the last remaining one, ha) -- I mean excuse me, but if someone is going to lose that thing, it should be me, somewhere in my back garden, thank you very much.)

I had a flat today while riding and stopped in as it was the closest shop within walking distance. The staff, Jamin, was so helpful & pleasant; checked out my bike immediately and suggested a couple of repair options. We waited in the comfortable air conditioned lounge area & I was on the road again in a relatively short period of time. Thanks to the Hub and Jamin for saving my day!

Recently had a tire blow out on a really old bike; they were able to fix it on the spot without an appointment. They were really quick and have a waiting room with internet to sit while you wait. Price was very reasonable, and they offer 10% for all UMN students. Will be back with any other bike problems that may arise.

Very slow service. Took 2 days to get new chains put on....I brought it in the day before and they told me 3 hours. I came back in 3 hours and they told me my bike was up to be fixed next. So I said I would come back tomorrow, since I had class at night and that they would be closed in an hour. Now I come back the next day at around lunch time and they havent even begun working on the bike....I would not reccomend this place to fix small problems.

This hub oak street has overall great staff. Friendly, but not over the top. The guy who I believe manages this shop (morgan) is truly top notch. My bike repair needs are a little atypical I would assume for this shop (electronic drive train issues, tubeless tire issues) and morgan was super knowledgeable regarding everything, even after I made the problem worse by trying to fix it myself at home. Parking sucks (there is no free parking), but if you need great work done bring it to morgan, its worth the inconvenience.ted

So much better than Varsity Bike (rude; dishonest) in Dinky! The person who worked with me was Jamin, and he was incredibly patient, efficient, and helpful. I came in to get my (vintage) bike a check because I just bought it. I dont know a whole lot about bikes, so Jamin was very courteous in explaining various mechanisms. There were quite a number of customers who came in when I did, so he had to juggle all of us together, while serving us as best he could since he was working alone in the shop.Turns out i just needed my wheels adjusted so they spun true. Service was fast, got done in 3 hours with other bikes in the line up before mine.I also needed a new u-lock, and Jamin gave me advice on choosing one. Ended up getting some chain lube on his recommendation.

Bad place with rude people working there. The customer service at this location is rude as heck and terrible. They couldnt explain to me before going to charge my card that there is an extra $20 just to put the rack on. Then I decided to just put it on myself but then they charged me another $6 for just 3 small parts without telling me right away. With all these hidden fees I decided to just to return it. And here comes the rudest hipster ever. The guy with big beard and glasses told me that he didnt find that I was charged $60 for a $40 rack in this system, instead he insisted I wasnt charged anything. When I confronted him by showing him my card transactions, which I was charged 4 times with a total of $60+, he impatiently and rudely told me just hold on and walked away. They have a very confusing charging system by charging people $30 for deposit if you want to let them handle your bike, but unfortunately they have bunch rude and dull people work there.
