Great shop, great service!I love that they’re right on the Midtown Greenway — a fun place to stop mid-ride.They helped my wife special-order a really awesome cruiser that was on sale for a ridiculously good deal (~66% off??). There were only two left nationwide, but they managed to reserve one for her and get it here in about a week.A couple weeks later, she had a little fender bender — literally — which bent one of the fenders into the wheel. We stopped by this shop, and within 15 minutes, they had us back on the trail for a very low cost. (I’d specify, but I can’t recall the exact amount — just that it was a bargain.)An all-around great bike co-op. Highly recommended!
I bought an ebike from this location a year ago after I demoed one at a bike to work day. I quickly put on 1000 miles last summer. And commuted 40 miles 2 or 3 times a week since it was so much easier. All the people at this location were so helpful and nice. I got into a crash later in the season and thought I would be in for a really expensive repair but Chris made the wheel true and fixed the spokes and everything for $40. That was such a huge relief. Right now this place is temporarily closed but I hope they can open soon because I really love it.
Wonderful bike shop right on the trail. Has saved my skin several times to get more water, gels etc.
Super friendly and professional! We rented two hybrid bikes to ride around mpls downtown area on a perfect autumn afternoon. We took the route advice to first ride trails to Boom Island Park and then along the river all the way to Minnehaha Fall. Would definitely recommend. (Be careful to select the right Freewheel location on gps when you go back! There’s another one in downtown!)
Freewheel Bike at Midtown serves the community. They suffered loss while sadness washed over our city in May/June 2020. My condolences, may your business comeback stronger and more profitable than ever.
I had great service from the staff!I definitely recommend this shop!I had a wheel replaced and didnt feel awkward for asking for the least expensive option. I share this with you because at other bike shops in the neighborhood I have had the opposite experience. The staff was awesome and the experience was easy and comfortable. Thanks! Jason
Online purchase was easy and picking up was a breeze and well distanced :) staff was so friendly and i am excited to start using freewheel as my bike shop consistently. thanks, all! i love my new salsa!
Great space. Great location. Coffee/pastry shop a bonus. Good hours. Reasonable price on repair with good selection. Nice to have option of pay to play to fix my own bike, although I let the experts tackle this repair.
Freewheel carries a great range of products. A family member encouraged me to get out my old bike last year. Freewheel service staff did a complete tuneup to make sure it was road ready. The sales staff helped me select a new helmet, a bike computer (a great motivator), a headlight and taillight, and most recently, padded shorts. What a difference they make! Freewheel training staff taught me about on the road maintenance. Next upgrade? A new bike, I hope!
Brent was very helpful. He had the two bikes I wanted to test-drive delivered to the Midtown location for me. He spent a good part of an afternoon helping me compare bikes and add fenders, a rack, and other accessories to my new bike. Unlike other bike shop experiences I have had in Minneapolis, I did not feel intimidated or belittled for not knowing a lot about bikes or the lingo. I have had my new bike for three days and so far, I am 100% satisfied.
Visited to purchase new helmet, other accessories. I was shown good options. Freewheel has price match guarantee. I like sign All are welcome here.🏳️🌈
Best Mocha in the Twin Cities. Worth the trip. You can get an assortment of food there as well and have your bike fixed or purchase a new bike too.
Zane at the service dept is a rockstar. He got me in right away addressed the problem with a temporary fix, and ordered my new part all under trek warranty. Great communication about the status of the part and scheduled me a follow up apt. He was not there at the install of the new part, but everything was flawless, and took less time than I thought.
The Fanatics club is a super good deal. I’ve had great experiences with staff—I bought a mountain bike at the Cedar-Riverside location and Marcy was super patient and helpful as I went back and forth between frame sizes to find a good fit. The mechanics do great work at a fair price. All in all, an awesome shop!
I cant say enough good things about these guys. Brent was super helpful and patient when I came in to test ride some new fat bikes and helped get my new Salsa on order. They had everything built out and ready to roll in less than a week, and when I called after some bad luck (8 tacks in one ride), their mobile repair guy Mario was at my office within hours and had me up and running so I could get home. Definitely a Freewheel Fanatic.
I would say that the store is nicely stocked with a variety of bicycling equipment. Actually has a decent selection of bike storage and tools. A lot of the stuff is very expensive, but they have a Bargain Bin. The cafe has limited options, and not much food. I would think you would have more food, for people might want to stop in there for a protein meal. The Barista was nice, but seemed easily can use about my order. The setup is surprisingly casual, and you dont need to be a cyclist to hang out.
We rented a tandem bike and had a blast. The bike was in very good condition and shifted very smoothly. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They gave us everything we needed.
Friendly staff who are quick to offer assistance. Great location to hang out and soak-in cycling culture.
Great service in fixing my bike. Great nitro cold brew as well!
Most experiences at this location havent been great. The staff seems to have a whatever attitude towards things which carries over to their work. I brought my bike in to get a derailleur replaced. I was told theyd order it the next day and within 2-3 days my bike would be fixed. Called them after a week to be told it was on its way but they didnt know when itd be there. Waited another week before calling again just to be told no order was ever placed for the derailleur. After cancelling and asking for my deposit back they had trouble refunding me without a receipt.Ended up bringing it to their West Bank location and had it fixed within an hour. Unless they have parts on hand to fix the problem, in the future Ill be heading elsewhere for repairs. 2 stars because at least one of the guys was empathetic.
Really great team both in the shop and on the sales floor. This is my go to place! Also, the freewheel fanatics program is great for a 20% off coupon once a month and 10% off parts!
Fantastic, welcoming location - convenient for cyclists and important for the Greenway, with a great offering of gear, food for the road, and food to sit down with. Chris and the rest of the staff provide honest down-to-earth advice. A real gem.
Called up, Spoke with Gary who was AMAZINGLY helpful and went out of his way to find the product I wanted, and ordered it. Along with putting together a few other items and holding them for me till the ordered item arrives! Awesome service will be back in to pick up the product (which I couldnt purchase on the manufacturers website.) Thanks for making the experience quick, painless, and overall enjoyable. Cheers!
Great shop conveniently located on the Midtown Greenway. Somewhat small inventory but Ive been able to find what Ive needed on my trips. Staff is friendly and helpful.
I ended up with a flat as I was riding along the Greenway. Luckily, I was right near Freewheel and was able to pull up to their shop right off the of trail. I cant explain how convenient it was to swing by their shop instead of having to lug my bike off the trail. The service desk was really helpful and didnt charge for air. It was also the perfect place to pick up a smoothie after a long day of riding, and the Midtown Exchange is in sight if you want to grab a bite to eat. Ill be back to check out their accessories next time Im in the area.
Great service & products! Super friendly & knowledgeable team working there. 10 out of 10 Kristopher’s recommend.
Great place to stop along the Midtown Greenway, whether you want a snack break or your bike needs something. Its also just across the skyway from Midtown Global Market, which is also worth the stop. Good folks.
Thank you! My regular bike is getting returned, my winter beater broke, and I was looking fur a simple commuter till I get my regular bike. I had a few options and even though the trek I bought was no thrills you made me feel good about the purchase even when I couldve easily spent double. So many cool local bike shops have this elitest feel. I commute every day and like to have a bike and an electric assist so I dont spend a ton on a regular bike but I felt welcome.I be back and Ill recommend this location to anyone who asks.
What a great place to stop on a ride its right on the Greenway. We like to stop here and get their delicious coffee they even have food. One time I had forgotten my gloves and it was so excess able to stop there and pick some up so we could continue riding. They have great service too. They even have a locker room with showers.
Love this place! It is the only place I know of where you can pickup great gear, get advice, all while eating ice cream!
These guys are always upbeat and helpful, and conveniently and uniquely located on the Greenway, which is awesome for cyclists.
I have been in there a few times and the staff has always been extremely helpful. Today I went in with my bottom bracket in my hand with a question about it. The staff was able to fully answer my questions about my bottom bracket, let me know that it is starting to fail as there is resistance with turning it due to dirt and particles getting into the bearings. They also were able to give suggestions on what might be causing the creaks in my bike and said that it might not be the bottom bracket, but might be a issue of needing grease in a few places, which they told me where to grease as well. Even though I did not buy anything, they were eager to help me, give me full details on what I needed to do and said that if I need help that I can bring my bike in and take advantage of the specials that they were having at the time.
Fast service and quick turnaround for a tune-up this spring. Thanks!
These folks know their bikes! Very clean and comfortable shop. They greeted every customer with respect and tended to their needs even though it was a busy Saturday afternoon.
Great food, location and people! I stopped in with my super cheap bike for a new inner tube. The staff was friendly and welcoming. It was so perfect! No judgement!
Snapped my rear shifter cable climbing a hill near Uptown, and decided limp to the nearest bike shop to see if a quick fix was possible. In and out in under an hour, despite the mechanic having to take apart the shifter.Didnt cost an arm and leg for labor either!A+
I had my first tune-up with you guys yesterday. I changed the appointment 3 times. No one seemed to mind. The technician went above and beyond what was needed/should have accompanied the tune-up at no extra charge! I finished putting my e-bike together out of the box last October. Lots was off...He torqued all the bolts so it was safe to ride, greased the ball bearings, as I had heard people say they come dry out of the factory. He said they were VERY dry. Even cleaned my filthy tire rims....I am so grateful!
This is a fun, friendly place that is conveniently located right on the greenway. They have a knowledgeable staff and were quick to help me with an issue, even lending me a bike lock when I was in a tight spot.
Highly recommend making this your first stop when bike shopping
Had a derailer issue on bike trail. Saw this place and stopped in and asked for help. Mechanic instantly threw my bike on stand and had me going in 10 mins no charge. Great people!
Great place on Greenway. Friendly staff, relaxing atmosphere if you want a break from your ride or to grab a bite.
Its great to have a full service bike and coffee shop right on the Greenway! The coffee is delicious, the staff are super-friendly, and the lounge area is nicely decorated with simple, clean, minimalist but modern lines. I wish there were more businesses opened right along the Midtown Greenway bike trail. Stop by to pump up your tires, use the rest room, grab water, and hang out. Having the shop there creates community and safety in a space that sometimes can feel quite...precarious.
Friendly staff, willing to talk you through critical and non critical decisions, able to explain without talking down or snooty :)
I am new to the city. That said, I am used to biking on the back roads of Arkansas and Missouri where no one will stop to help if you have a flat tire . In fact several times people have tried to run me off the road. Riding a bike in Minneapolis is a far different experience. I had a flat tire on the Greenway, and a nice biker told me that I couldnt have broken down at a better place. I couldnt agree more . Freewheel took care of my tires and I got to eat a bowl of fruit and drink a nice ice coffee while I waited. This shop and this city are amazing.
Freewheel did a great job resuscitating my winter bike!
Incredible to visit a cycling shop so invested in its mission that theyre only public entrance is from the Greenway! Friendly/helpful staff that wasnt pushy. Definitely will return for a fun lunch date with my wife... soon as the seasons change!
Staff are friendly and helpful. Repairs can usually be done while I wait, and often in less time than estimated.
My go-to shop for service. Repairs and maintenance always excellent. Trust them completely. Taught me a lot about my bike too. They keep me on the road, rolling right.
Stopped in to warm my fingers & get a quick spa treatment for the bike during a long Saturday ride.
The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Great locations.
Excellent coffee and the baked goods are wonderful too.
An all-around good place to stop along the Greenway. And not just for bike tuneups. They have a fun coffee bar and tons of information about the area.
When I came here to get my bicycle serviced and purchase some accessories for it I really felt like the people here were helping me find what was best for me and they went above and beyond when it came to fixing my bike. I was very impressed after my first experience here and I have found my new go-to bicycle shop!
Nice place to stop on your bike ride, great coffee.
Awesome service and the mechanic was top notice. Impressive
Great service. Extremely convenient being located right on the Midtown Greenway.
I love the German-made bike lock!
Great stop along the Midtown Greenway bike path. My wife and I stopped for a smoothie and snack, both of which served as a terrific pick-me-up during our ride.
Good service and location. I visit several times a year to get all my bikes tuned up.
Cory went out of his way to make sure I was satisfied with my purchase. I didnt give him a lot of time to get me on my way, but he was very professional and made my experience a positive experience.
Quick turnaround and friendly service staff.
Christof is awesome; and generally everyone is knowledgeable AND friendly!
So nice to have a real deal bike shop on the greenway. Nice selection of bikes, food, espresso, and bike repairs.
Great products, service and fast shipping!!
You are the best. The Minneapolis biking world would be dead if it wasnt for this shop. #truth
Associate was very helpful on my visit.
Friendly, knowledgeable, fair. No attitude.
Easy access from the Greenway, great indoor parking!
Great local bike shop. One of my favorites.
Fantastic staff, quality product, timely repairs!
Good cafe and delicious sandwiches, fast and friendly repairs, and a pretty good selection of bikes for the amount of retail space they have available! Go check out the closeout room in the back where the bikes are!
Answered all my ?s and got exactly what I came for.
Ugh. Went in to buy a bell, waited for ten minutes before a counter person deigned to acknowledge me, and told me that maybe I could get service from the cafe. Left without buying a bell.
Good service, turn around time, and crew.
I needed air for a flat tire. These guys helped me for free. Thanks, guys.
Small. Good service.
Coffee alone is worth the jaunt down the Chicago Ave steps.
Awesome, super helpful staff!
Great service today
They have bicycle repair classes!
Get lunch/coffee and fix a flat tire at the same place? WIN
A shop is a little overpriced.
