Lovely little volunteer run bookshop. Good selection of leftist, progressive, and anarchist literature, and good prices. Will definitely be returning here!
Helpful, kind, friendly staff. Small (selection) but mighty. Excellent local bookstore.
The most helpfullest ppl in minneapolis
This is a small independent bookstore. It is worth going to check out what books they carry as they do not carry all books. But, the atmosphere is warm and friendly and they have little spots where you can sit and look at or read books.Another aspect of this book store is that they have two rooms, one fairly large that can accommodate a medium sized group of people and the other small for maybe several people... These rooms are usually reserved by people in the community, however they are open to anyone who wants to reserve space. Some people have reserved the space for meetings, others for rehearsals, book clubs, knitting clubs... You get the picture. Oh, the securing of the space is free! The only downside that I can think of is that parking is at a premium. I think the parking lot adjacent to the building can only accommodate three or four customers at a time. Everyone else will have to park on the street, which is at a premium as well.It is worth noting that the Playwrights Center is directly across the street, so if they have any gatherings or classes and their parking lot cannot handle all of the patrons, you can guarantee the spots on the street will be taken. All in all, it is a small delightful little place to go on a lazy afternoon to chill and check out books.
Very accessible with a good variety of books.
Great selection of books. Outdoor tables set up for a great soical distancing shopping experience. If they dont have what you are looking for they are willing to look it up and see if they can find it for you.
I am here all the time w/ the Womens Prison Book Project (we have mailings 12-3 on Sundays, feel free to join us!) and I absolutely love this place. The volunteers are the best and the book selection is amazing. Boneshaker is just a fantastic community organizing space and I love going to events and interacting with all of the lovely people and groups that use this space. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Seriously, I adore Boneshaker.
Knowledgeable, friendly volunteers that work here, wonderful selection of leftist literature concerning issues of class, race, gender, policing. zine collection is cool too. Boneshaker is doing important work and its one of my favorite places in the twin cities!
Well-curated selection of fiction, poetry, and books on current events and theory. I enjoy their $1-5 sale shelf. They do great community outreach as well through the Minnesota Womens Prison Book Project, prison pen-pal outreach, and hosting a lot of events. Definitely worth your support!
I love the vibe of this place, but wasnt expecting it to be so small. I found it on a search of the best bookstores in minneapolis. The staff there is very legit. I appreciate the selection of books that are unlikely to be found in a typical bookstore. However, the selection is limited. I still would recommend this to anyone that likes to break out of the ordinary bookstore however.
What a fantastic bookstore. Found some excellent stuff to read and had a nice chat with the workers (all volunteer!) as well. I was just visiting town and they gave me a kick ass list of things to do that I cherished for the rest of my trip.
Excellent radical bookstore - completely volunteer run, with an awesome zine inventory and books from small presses that you might have trouble finding elsewhere. A great alternative literature spot in the interesting, historical Seward neighborhood.
Such friendly and knowledgable staff! Boneshakers book collection is also one of a kind. Five out of five stars for sure!
Volunteer run and a great selection of books--including a library of graphic novels. also a good venue for meetings (free with reservation). and they give a lot of great orgs space to work out of
You can find unique reads of all kinds and some art (cards) that you wont find anywhere else. However, it needs more energy: more people stopping by, more in-store events, more life in general. Also a bit spendy, which reflects the uniqueness of the material and Im sure is quite worth it, but I cant personally afford to buy much there.
Science Book Club = Great! Lovely selection. Cool zines.
Yo radical books r very good. has a meeting room. the ppl working are nice and also cute.
Quaint bookstore with a free community room for use. Love spending time with my nose in the bookshelves.
If you are looking for the Unusual, this is the place!! Small comfortable spot to browse. A Used book rack and small local homemade booklets on a variety of topics. Could and have spent hours browsing everytime I go to Minneapolis.
Really awesome bookshop. They have some really unique selections, along with the normal books you would expect. Great mix of new and used.
What a wonderful book store! Also, I love their zine collection, and that they allow consignment for zines :)
One of my favorite small book stores. They will order books for you. They also have used books. The staff is friendly
Cool book store. Big shout out for letting us use the meeting room.
What a great place to donate books and escape in your own personal nook.
Nice people! Door is not disability accessible, but people there are always willing to help.
Bought a copy of Hakim Beys Immediatism for reference on my upcoming engagements in Pipestone & Northfield. They are always so pleasant here & I think the chick in the Disturbed tee with the henna spirallax tatu is so pretty.
Nice people working there and has a neat collection of books to buy
Fantastic. Collective, inclusive, WOKE! I will support their existence and mission. Nice meeting space.
Rad collectively run bookstore with comfy atmosphere
Great, cozy, local bookstore. Volunteer run and a curated selection. Top notch.
Excellent independent book store, great place to find books not carried in other shops.
Smaller shop, but volunteer-run and a great community room.
Dog friendly, fairly small (would call at about specific books) very cute
Great selection of feminist and LGBT literature. Highly recommend, especially for those who like to support small, local bookstores.
Great author selection, cozy environment, good customer service
Nice selection at this all volunteer, collectively run bookstore.
One of the best little bookstores in the city.
Cool little bookstore with a lot of cool authors and subjects.
Awesome local bookstore with great selection of queer, leftist, and hippie literature
Great place for readings, fun staff, great book selection
Amazing space with great books
Great local bookstore with variety and helpful customer service
Great book club conversation.
Love this little volunteer-run bookstore!
Great detection of diverse books by diverse authors.
Collectively owned. A staple of local radical community.
This quality community-based bookstore, staffed by volunteers, I rate highly for more then these two admirable qualities. There is no staff trying to sell you anything, simply browse the extensive collection in many categories. The storefront also features comfortable reading chairs available to all and a community meeting room/art gallery which I put to use monthly for my Brain Injury support group/social club B.I.G.
They support donating books to women in prison. Thats okay in my book!
Best little bookshop in town
