Perfect place to just relax or simply study. sat here for about 3 hours without any issues. the place was full of life and so welcoming. the staff was kind. got myself a darjeeling iced tea, which was okay and not too bad. darjeeling tea is always best when it’s hot so it’s on me for ordering it iced. also got a red velvet cake and it was so good! i usually skip the icing but theirs didn’t feel too thick. if you’re looking for a nice crowd then this is the place to be!
Locally owned and operated for almost 3 decades. Their coffee is better than the big nationals and the contribute to the community by participating in charitable giving, neighborhood improvements and has a good food selection for a coffee house. When Covid hot and many businesses temporarily shuttered, the owner gave his perishables to a newer, start up coffee house since Carpe suspended operations. This is the kind of business you need in your community.
A quaint and homey coffee shop with limited on site parking. There are options for other off site parking nearby. The coffee is outstanding with a wide variety of options. Some good pastries available as well. Plenty of merchandise to purchase in addition to your coffee. Directly across the street from the main Spring Hill college entrance
Great coffee spot. Nice staff and good drip coffee and tea. The seating was nice and the location was easy to get parked and into the building. My rating is based on the coffee and service. If I had to include the bagel, it would be a four-star rating. The bagel is not in line with the rest of the experience and tasted like a grocery store from-a-bag bagel that is not really a bagel at all. Planning to go back for just the coffee as it was really, REALLY good.
Very cute little coffee shop, obviously popular with local students. Only wish there was more parking, we had to find some a ways away!
I love the scenery. Always so packed and sometimes coffee has no taste. But I will come back because I understand places and people get really really busy and have bad days. They have a pumpkin spice latte (I had their’s for the first time) that is so good.
Really nice interior, great selection and good coffee and food! Definitely worth a visit. Its in a fancy part of town as well
I woke up too early while visiting family. I was able to come by for a breakfast sandwich and an alpine mocha latte - a white chocolate latte. It was good! So good in fact that I came back the next morning and bought another. This place is a fond memory because I brought my future wife here on our first date almost 22 years ago.
So yummy! Came here to “treat myself” — ordered a spiced brown sugar flat white & was immediately transported into fall (despite the weather saying otherwise 😉 )
We ALWAYS love coming here! The staff is always such a joy to interact with and the coffee is divine!! This is a cute little local coffee dive! We arent even from the area but when we are visiting, we will go out of our way to come by! Looking forward to the next visit! Keep on being awesome!!
Really sweet place with extremely friendly staff. Feels like a wonderful neighborhood cafe, just a great place to get food and beverages -- and also hang out and relax.
Excellent desserts and coffees; professional manager.
Not ever been-, u better get over and visit this coffee shop! Its a part of old time springhill at its finest-, please dont forget the dessert. Omg. My fav. Red velvet cake
Love their brand of coffee. Its nice to support a local place that roasts their own coffee beans. Nice selection of flavors are available for a wide range of tastes. Lovely customer service reach time I go.
Great atmosphere, Cortado is fantastic. Great staff
Average, reliable coffee shop. Plenty of freshly roasted coffee but none of it is super high quality. Coffee from the bar was as expected, nothing out of this world.
Excellent coffee and breakfast crissonant! you wont be disappointed
Extremely dog friendly. Love Bug will remember yall fondly.
Such a comfortable environment, lounging and great coffee and tea.
A great local coffee house and roaster. I always keep some of their coffee on hand to make at home.
Great place for coffee, meeting someone, or catch up on work!
The coffee is amazing and some of the best quality around. The only issue I had with this place was the customer service. There were very blunt and not polite.
Great service and the best coffee!
Mostly love it. Wish they had bagels and other basics again. I hope after Covid I can REALLY love it again
Charming great atmosphere. Coffee was good. Definitely a place I will revisit.
Cool place to catch up on work and have a quick meeting with a colleague. Great Coffee!
Nice cup of coffee
Absolutely in love with their expansive and vast menu, this is a hotspot for any coffee lover. Skip over Starbucks and go to Carpe Diam, your wallet will thank you, and the amazing staff is friendly and very helpful. So many flavors to choose from. This shop is absolutely BANGIN. Their pastries they serve are also high quality and pairs nicely with a fresh warm coffee they serve. I absolutely love this coffee shop. Chill atmosphere, upbeat, and such a beautiful interior. Even the furniture pieces in the store look so comfortable and homey. Make your coffee exactly how you want. A well deserved 5.5 stars, I have never been as impressed with a coffee place as much as this one. I will be a customer for life!
Great coffee, yum pastry
You won’t find a better coffee shop in Mobile. Friendly staff and really fun atmosphere for getting work done and just hanging out. The coffee is amazing and they also offer delicious food options such as bagels and amazing cake slices. They have an outdoor patio as well as seating inside. They also give back to the community which is very important to me so I will always support Carpe Diem.
Fantastic coffee house! Incredible coffee offerings, the most friendly, knowledgable and helpful baristas, and a welcoming, relaxing environment. A great place to go whether you are seeking quiet time or a place to meet with others. And with the aroma of in-house freshly roasted coffee permeating the place, Carpe Diem is tops! Highly recommended!
This is my favorite coffee shop in town. The coffee is incredible. They always have non dairy milks which I love and the avocado toast is to die for. The atmosphere is super cozy and I love the community tables as well as sitting at the bar. The staff are amazing, genuine, and fun!
Great coffee shop with some awesome employees!
Great spot for coffee and to get some work done
Great place to study or read or catch up with a friend or for coffee of course. I loooove getting a white chocolate mocha w soy milk and some caramel pumped in there. So so good. They have quite the assortment of snacks and some other things. Awesome little place. I don’t go there often enough.
Their espresso punches way above its weight. Seriously one of the best macchiatos Ive had anywhere.
Some of the best coffee Ive ever had. Very good place.
Nice people, great coffee.
It has been a while since I’ve gone here but what a fun coffee shop. It is exactly what you’d want in a local shop. Seating and an environment that encourage conversation and reading good books. The coffee and pastries are good too.
Loved stopping here on my road trip through Mobile. My mom and I are coffee snobs and I can honestly say we had some of the best coffee weve had in a long time at this place! Super fresh, roasted right there, kind staff, and a homey feel. Its definitely a hidden treasure and if you like supporting local businesses
Good coffee and bagels.
Nice atmosphere! Love the wooden floor planks that caresses my every step and begs me to stay. :) I missed it the first time and had to double back. I would love to come back and grab a cup of coffee and sit a while. This time, I was only there to grab some desserts I saw while searching for chocolate cake on waitr.
Best coffee shop in Mobile! I am always greeted by a friendly face and the coffee is the best in Mobile. The atmosphere is relaxing and comfortable. It is my favorite coffee shop. And the cakes, desserts and muffins are great and priced very affordable. I recommend the Morning Glory muffin or the granola mix for breakfast!
Honestly not a big coffee drinker, but everything Ive had here is good. Especially found of the ice green tea with lavender. The staff is nice and its a great place to study or just chill.
This is my favorite coffee shop Ive ever been to. Everything from pour over and specialty drinks are amazing. Super homey feel when youre hanging out. This is a must when youre in town.
I came here for a work meeting back in July and I live this place! The iced lavender Alpine is amazing and my husband got one of their specials in a frapp. Anything we have gotten from here was amazing and they are my new FAVORITE place to get coffee beans! I only wish they had better parking! I drive a truck and its nearly impossible to park it there most days!
Absolutely the best coffee shop in Mobile. I make this the start of my day when visiting Mobile; especially on my last day to get a cup for the drive home! A must for coffee drinkers visiting the city and the locals seem to know it also. Highly recommend!
I just adore this place. Its everything a neighborhood coffee shop should be.The espresso and frozen beverages are tasty, creative, and numerous. Theres a broad range of pastries and other sweets, as well as a limited range of quiche and sandwiches. (One odd thing is that they dont heat pastries, instead pointing you towards a self-serve microwave on the prep stand.) The full menu is posted online. The shop is located in a Victorian house, with seating in several distinct rooms. Most of the seating is small cafe tables, which customers are free to group as needed, and there are also one or two conversation groups. The decor is rich and busy, and the back room has had local childrens art on display every time Ive visited. The staff is consistently sweet and hardworking, and the place is usually buzzing with locals. Such a friendly, bright, fantastic place.
Awesome place!
Parking is scarce. But drinks come out quick! And they are delicious! Nice warm ambiance. There were plenty of tables inside for people studying. Couches comfortable for waiting and they have plenty of things to see on their walls. Wonderful service and food.
All we had to do was walk in the back door and the aroma of Carpe Diems roasting coffee invaded our senses. Our son-in-law grinned and said, I told you so! For the rest of our visit we drove from Daphne/Spanish Fort for coffee. Our last day in Mobile we purchased a bag and it tastes as good home-brewed in Southern Cal as in Mobile, AL. Some days we stood in a line, but for coffee this good, who cares?
Reliable coffee house offerings with a handful of sandwiches thrown in. Lots of points for being quaint, being locally owned, and for a great playlist. Tight squeeze inside. Outside deck needs some power washing & T L C, and could use new vegan options. But hey, its Carpe Diem right? They remember you and your stand-bys.
I lived in Mobile for 8 years and this was my go to for coffee and chilling out. Im not even much of a coffee drinker but I tried their coffee of the day multiple times and was always pleasantly surprised.I just went back on my way through town and it felt like nothing had changed (in a good way). The house is cozy and inviting. The smell of good coffee permeates everything, even the bathrooms. Conversation is buzzy but never too loud and the back room is still unofficially the quiet room for studiers and readers. And if you want to be loud or have a large group the side deck is shaded and comfortable.Whether you are a local or just passing through you owe it to yourself to check this place out if you like coffee, or coffee houses, or houses, or just want to see the kind of places that make Mobile unique.
Pretty good latte. Better than chains for sure. I’m from Seattle, so I’m picky about my coffee. This place does a good job, but I’ve had better. The staff were friendly. The service was kind of slow, but they were quite busy. The atmosphere is very nice. Seemed like a very nice neighborhood hang out. The hipsters and credit rich people were thick is my only complaint. The kind of folks that cants say, “excuse me,” as they need by you. Not the fault of the business, but it does detract from the experience.
Best coffee shop in Mobile!! Every time I get a drink here its delicious, HIGHLY recommend Carpe Diem
Great little coffee house. Always crowded with locals. Service is fast & efficient. Great coffee & sweets. A good selection of sandwiches.
I am a visitor from out of town. So glad I found this place! I ordered the iced Irish Cream Latte everyday (sometimes twice a day) and it honestly is the best I have had. Wish I could take them back to Birmingham with me!
I love their coffee, and the better testimonial is from my parents from southern India who take their coffee as seriously as Alabama does football.Love the flavor, aroma and, the taste. You can also get something to eat, a small bite and its not disappointing. As for the ambience, its rustic, cozy, and great for casual catching-up, a date, or just some peaceful solitude with beau cuppa.
Good coffee and sweets
Our favorite go to place for coffee in Mobile. You can have your coffee about 50 different ways and they have 4-5 coffees brewing each day. One of us had dark with an expresso shot, another chain latte (took some time to make) one chocolate latte and I had the flavored blend. All were superb. Service was friendly and the ambience friendly and informal.
The best coffee in Mobile. Excellent fresh baked goods. The reason for three stars is the inefficient ordering and pick up process. Theres been many times Ive stopped to make a purchase only to turn around because of the log jam at the front door. Just today, I was in line and a couple came to the front door and turned around because they couldnt get in. I would prefer to spend my money here but not if Im in a hurry.
A quality coffee shop with knowledgeable staff offering great coffee shop.
Our drinks are always made with care and accuracy. The baristas are genuinely friendly. Hands down my go to coffee spot.
This is a great coffee spot with good food. The coffee doesnt have the boldness or the character of the coffee at coffee shops that Ive been to in other cities but it is probably the best youll find in Mobile. I think it just has to do with the type of bean they use. The ambiance is great and the service is very good. We come here often.
Love the Chai
I had a hankering for a spot of tea and scones. Carpe Diem made it so, and then some! Walking in, the atmosphere is relaxing with soft lighting, with many sitting areas - some tables and chairs while others were comfy chairs set up living room style. The woman helping me provided exceptional customer service by giving me recommendations (even letting me smell the tea!) and assisting me and my service dog get settled at my table. Both my tea and scone were absolutely delicious! My husband joined me after work and we both tried their BLT on a croissant, also incredibly good. Thank you Carpe Diem, Ill definitely be coming back!
One of my favorite hiding places in Mobile. Great vibe, LGBT-friendly...and home to some of the most interestingly odd conversations Ive heard this side of San Francisco. ❤️❤️❤️
If you are able to find parking this place is absolutely the best stop for coffee or a pastry if you would like. They have amazing customer service even when they are super busy and prices are great! If you are ever on Old Shell Road this place is a must stop for any hot or cold beverage. There lemonades are awesome as well.🙂
Stopped here while driving to Florida and it was the cutest place. I LOVE that they offer the monin natural coffee syrups!! I ordered the frozen almond milk mocha and it was delicious! Great coffee, pie and breakfast sandwich! Stopping here on our way back to Austin.
Always good. Mocha is consistently amazing and the Viennese iced coffee is a favorite of mine from any coffee shop. Limited availability seasonal drinks are always worth a try too.
The staff is so friendly and I love their coffee cups and merchandise. This place is great whether youre on a date, hanging out with friends, or just reading a book. The coffee is delicious.
Visiting from Oregon and this was a little slice of eclectic home. Loved it will be back if ever in Bama again.
We find a reason to roadtrip to visit this coffee shop! The building is so neat, the employee I asked questions with was very knowledgeable about the history and patient with me ordering drinks for a family of 5! The inside is small for my family so we enjoy the outdoor tables.
I have been here many times and ordered the same drink. The guy was like, Do you know whats in it? Uh, no I dont work here. I said, Why dont you ask her. (girl standing near him). He says, She hasnt been here long at all. He literally had a book by the register that all the recipes but he was too lazy to look. My daughter and I almost left to go somewhere that the employees are not so lazy. He kept looking at me and just acted like he didnt have a clue what to do. I think he noticed my irritation so he looked in the book and found it. My daughter said to me, The book is by the register, he could just look in it. I like the coffee but do not appreciate lazy employees.
Very relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious coffee with a wide variety of sources and roasts. A must try for coffee lovers!Hospitality is good, but staff could push it to the next level and engage customers as they enter the shop.
A hidden gem. Both the coffee and the food are excellent. It was a regular brunch stop when we travel from Houston to Destin or vice versa. Now we pull a 5th wheel, the tight neighborhood streets prevents us visiting anymore.
It feels like a place youd see in a cool 60s movie and smells like your grandmothers kitchen at Christmas.
Love this place. As soon as you open the door youre hit with an overwhelming sense that day is gonna be alright. The coffee aroma hits you with the right notes and the Breakfast is delightful. I always get the everything bagel with egg, Sausage and cheese. But they also have fresh muffins and other various treats that are made in house. But for real the breakfast bagels are on point.
Great coffee of all kinds. Great food. Sandwiches, cake, etc. Smoothies. Service is very good. Cozy.
Best hometown coffee shop. Love the atmosphere. While there sometimes can be a line (because it is popular and has great coffee), they have fun gift cards to look at while you are waiting.
We decided to come here for breakfast during our car ride home from Texas after reading the outstanding reviews. The reviews dont lie, this place is amazing. My iced cappuccino and breakfast sandwich were absolutely delicious. It is a BIG sandwich too; I was not expecting that. Usually when you go to coffee shops they dont give you that much food.
Great coffee and great atmosphere! You cant go wrong with this local fave!
Parking is complete garbage but that my be because its so packed. Coffee was great and the setting was very nice. The staff was friendly and willing to make my order what I wanted
