My interactions with Carstar, Jeanne, Michelle and staff exceeded expectations. My car received extensive hail damage while I was traveling in South Dakota. Insurance actually wanted to total the car but we agreed to a settlement payment to avoid this. Three estimates were obtained. Jeannie’s experience and expertise allowed her to critically review the damage and make recommendations with a goal that the repair cost might approach the settlement payment. Jeannie made multiple suggestions as to what to repair, how to repair, what not to repair based on noticeability, etc., all with a value vs. cost target. Work was completed on time, and communications were regular as we made small changes to repair plan. The finished result left me very pleased, as the remaining unrepaired spots were, as Jeannie predicted, barely noticeable. The multiple repairs, part replacements and painting were fantastic, all this leading to significant cost savings such that the settlement covered repair cost. I picked up a gleaming car, totally polished and with a great detail cleaned interior as well.Well done Carstar. Thank you!

Jeanne and her team provided the highest level of customer experience. From the moment I stopped by a week ago Saturday to picking up my car this morning, I was treated with courtesy, dignity, and respect.The work was done on time and on budget, with frequent notifications via text of the work being done. While I was expecting for my car to be tied up for a couple days, the work was completed same day, so I was able to pick it up first thing the next morning.I highly recommend this company. The level of professionalism is among the best I have experienced.
They did a great job repairing the front end damage on my 2013 G37. Looked better than when I bought it! Large percentage of parts were oem replacements.

I have seen the work done here and I had my car painted here many times.I will give you guys an honest review. I inspected cars that were done at this location including my own and the paint never matched. If you had a problem with the repair it was always a pain to try to get them to fix it. Try it for yourself. After you get your car back. Check the appearance of the repaired area both close-up and from a distance. Examine the paint for color match, texture, and overspray. Pictures will rarely show paint defects. Keep that in mind. Another tip I can give you.. Always inspect repairs they do on other cars and check for paint defects. This is a common thing. A good shop will show you their work and have nothing to hide.

I have had to take my vehicles to this locations several times they are always very professional friendly they staff there is like a family they have always been able to get my vehicles fixed in a timely manner and have been able to help me with insurance and getting loaner cars when needed . I tell all my family and friends and people who ask to take there cars there for Reapir service the work they do make your vehicles feel like new like there was never damage done to it I wound take my vehicles to anyone else .. top notch

Worked with Jeanne on the estimate. She gave me two options, paintless dent repair and the traditional route. She suggested we give the paintless dent repair a shot and only go the traditional route if it didnt work. They did an amazing job and saved me a ton of money. They will be my shop of choice in the future. They are very professional, perform high quality work, and communicated via text message throughout the process (very convenient).

Update* I went to Gerber Collision and had the Mustang repaired correctly. The cost was over $3100 to fix what Butterfield missed and messed up and charged me over 5k for.Very poor quality of body repairs reported from the other shop.Don’t bring your car here. Please Look at the reply from the owner to my first review below. They couldn’t position the headlight but they didn’t charge for it????What kind of a shop can’t adjust a headlight????Carstar Mundelein aka Butterfield bodyworks that’s who. Also several damaged brackets overlooked that caused the entire issue with everything lining up correctly. Thanks Butterfield. I’m out deductible and a month without my car along with almost $800 in car rental fees.I most definitely want my deductible reimbursed and I will see you in court for it.( original review below)14 days to complete repairs. Paint is poorly applied and is contaminated with debris in the clear coat on hood and fender. Fender is not aligned correctly with the door and hood. Hood is not correctly aligned with the fender. They installed the headlamp pointing at the ground and said they tried to fix it all week whatever that means. Turn signals are wired wrong. Fog lamps cut on at different times. Left lights up first followed by the right with 1.5 seconds of delay.All after market parts and refurbished parts used on new Mustang. Did not fix the alignment of the frame and it is now showing from the headlight height. Called insurance company who is investigating the issues and now have to take to another shop to complete the entire repair correctly and all over again.Unreal experience
We always use them for our cars and they ALWAYS do an amazing job. You can’t and won’t find better work or customer service anywhere. Don’t even look at going anywhere else, these are your guys!
I have had my 2013 Chevy Tahoe repaired here multiple times because of their quality work and friendly atmosphere. In the most recent incident, my passenger mirror was ripped off by a semi truck driving too close to me. Fortunately, just my mirror was damaged and there were no injuries, but Carstar ordered me a new mirror, had it painted and reinstalled in just two days! I have been here a total of three times in the past and I will continue to go there and send my friends & family there if/when another incident occurs.
Carstar took good care of me and my car. They picked me up and dropped me off, and went the extra mile to bring in a paint specialist to perfectly match the beautiful blue. They were constantly in touch letting me know about the progress. I highly recommend Carstar!

The other negative reviews are correct. Awful customer service…surprisingly, from the owner too. Have to push for any clear information. If they’re working with insurance companies, from the reviews I’ve read, it seems might not be so bad. My guess, they’re over-charging insurance. But if you’re paying out-of-pocket… buyer beware. We got an estimate via email, repairs began after that. However when the car was ready, the bill was $1531 over the estimate. We were shocked! There was absolutely ZERO communication letting us know of any increase. When we brought this to the owner’s attention, Jeanne, her reply was just as shocking, almost child-like. She said if we don’t want to pay the $1531 extra, she will just takes the parts off. OMG ! I couldn’t believe it …so unprofessional. The repair work was okay, but as for the charges, and customer service… wow! If you like surprises, are okay being without your car for weeks on end, and have money to burn, bring it here.
Extremely easy to deal with. I gave them the info for my insurance, signed some consent forms via email, and they took care of everything else. They kept me up to date via email throughout the process.When I picked up my car I was very pleased. Not only did my car look better than before the accident, but it drives perfectly. They not only cleaned the outside, but the inside as well, and everything I left in the car was still there.Extremely professional and friendly staff. I highly recommend this shop!
They fixed small dents and scratches on both of our cars. Did an excellent job and tried to accommodate our schedule to the best of their ability. On both occasions they finished the work before set time. I would strongly recommend them for anyone looking for bodywork.
From the time I arrived with my car until the time my repairs were finished I was treated like family. Due to some extensive damage, it took a while for my car to be completed. However, the manager Jeanine always made sure I was apart of the repair process. The intensive detail they paid attention to was beyond compare and were quite the perfectionist needless to say. I cant imagine having a better experience than the one I had at Carstar. Every phase of my repair was fast, easy, and completely hassle free. I brought my car in on Wednesday and they had my rental waiting for me and on Friday I got a call saying my car wad ready. It looks perfect....Thank you Jeanne and your fabulous team. Exceptional experience.Jeanne (the owner) without rush made things arranged in nice way, even rental. Rental Chrysler 300 was waiting 7:30AM on the day I dropped the car, all took 15 minutes. I was updated on the progress every day. Everything was done in time, no delay. Same great experience picking up the car - 10 minutes and I an my way. Also buffed a scratch on side at no charge. Can not be any better, very impressed. Thanks Jeanne and CarStar staff.
Why have an automated text update system if its a complete lie! Was constantly reassured through text that my car would be ready on time only to arrive and find out it was nowhere near complete and no apologies given for the huge mistake. Still without my car and hoping the new anticipated completion date will be accurate- 4 days later than originally planned. Also of note - the text system that is supposedly automated - told me that the original replacement hood had been stepped on and had to have another one delivered. Long story short- COMMUNICATION STINKS. Dont be fooled by the reassuring texts

I have never given a negative review to a business before, even if I had a bad experience, I would let it go, but I just strongly feel like I have to warn others, and after reading similar reviews about this place, just know this place gave me an estimate for body work and when I proceeded with the job, the part price doubled and the owner blames me and everyone else. She did the estimate incorrectly and refused to negotiate. Disappointing customer service.
Excellent customer service, very fast and knowledgeable technicians, and all the employees were very pleasant to speak to and work with. I recommend Carstar to anyone who wants to know the exact problem With their vehicle without feeling like they are ripped off ! They show you what the issue is so you can feel comfortable and so you have an idea and knowledge about your issue .
My two winter jackets went missing while in the shop and no one has answers as to where they went but the owner even said Jose had to move things out of the front seat(meaning the jackets) and then the paint job had to be redone since the rocker “fell off” the holder while baking . And the repairs took 3 days extra than what they told me and had written up. Once insurance paid them the estimate changed and insurance had to pay out more . They also harass people by texting them way after your vehicle had left the shop.

This is in response to Mr John Roberts review. As the reader may surmise, this is a personal attack on an employee here. As the owner of this business, I can attest to the fact that this employee would not have ever acted this way. He is always very professional and friendly with customers. The review attacks his physical appearance. A casual visitor would not comment like this. Other references to quality control, production issues etc again are overly specific. Finally, we have no record of Mr Robert in our database. This is the first thing we do when a customer approaches the desk. Read the other reviews, they tell the real story. It is unfortunate that this is here but we will get to the bottom of it.

A shopping cart rammed into my car at the local Target leaving two dents in my drivers side door. One place I went to estimated the repair would cost over $500 for paintless dent repair. That seemed a little steep to me so I called a few places trying to see if I could get a ball park estimate over the phone. This place was the only place that offered to give a non-binding, ball park estimate over the phone. I brought my car in for an official estimate which happened to exactly match what the guy on the phone had said (which was significantly cheaper than the first place I went to... by the way). I made an appointment to bring the car in a week later for the repair and they had it done in the time frame they promised. Considering everywhere I had asked said that the paintless dent repair would get most of the dent out, I was impressed with the results!! I cant tell where the upper dent was anymore, and the lower dent I have to feel around several times ... and then *maybe* I feel a residual ripple? Fantastic work and a great price!! I would definitely recommend them based on this experience. :)
I have had to use Carstar more times then I care too. This time the same outstanding attention to detail follow up and great customer service Tom and Jeanne are the people I dealt with, awesome. Only place to go for auto repair!
From the time I walked in to the moment I walked out the door, there was always someone there to greet me. The process of checking in a car and renting a vehicle from a Carstar partner was painless (a car rental representative walked thru their door 10 minutes after calling).All paperwork was reviewed by the front desk attendant so she knew exactly what was being repaired and whether insurance was being used.While the car was serviced, I received several text messages keeping me updated along the way. Overall I had no problems and received more service here than I have at previous body shops.
Had my BMW 535 and my Mercedes SL AMG repaired by Carstar and the quality of repair is what I would expect for these vehicles. They went out of their way to work with my insurance company to make sure they used genuine parts rather than aftermarket.
They do great body work, but customer service and communication are very poor. 5 star for work product, 1 star for the rest.

My Hyundai Sonata was involved in a bad accident, and I was referred by a friend to Butterfield Bodyworks CARSTAR. My friend had a good experience with them, so I had my car transported there. Upon arriving I was greeted by a lady named Blanca who introduced me to one of the owners, Jeanne Silver. Jeanne was a pleasure to work with. The insurance adjuster came out and delcared my car a total loss. Butterfield Bodyworks helped get me into a car immediately so that I didnt have to miss work. Hoping I dont have any more auto accidents, but if I do, I will definitely work with this business again. They are very responsive to your needs and very professional. The inside seemed kind of weird, with the humongous plant growing right out of the floor, but the people were very communicative and very nice throughout the whole process.
CARSTAR THE BEST!!!! The wind caught my drivers door and swung it all the way back to my front bumper. The door would not shut properly. Went to Gustafsons and they gave me a quote for $1726 to get a new door. Claimed the door was bent. I asked if possibly it was only the hinges and they insisted no. So I went to CarStar in Mundelein. $230 to fix the hinge and now it is perfect! Gustafsons RIPOFF!!!! CARSTAR THE BEST!
I attempted to stop by the carstar shop in mundelien to get an estimate. The young lady when I walked in said that she would check to see if someone could do one for me. The person she was asking who has glasses and bad teeth was telling her in the meanest way possible that hes not f..king doing walk ins and how many times do I have to say that.I felt bad for the young lady.Needless to say I didnt get an estimate nor did I ever go back.Whom ever is running this shop has zero control over whats important...the customer. So it leads me to believe that theres other issues? Quality control? Moral of the team? If there is someone there that treates people as badly as he did then the production has to be awful.Fix the problem, get rid of the cancer.
Stole my property. Couldnt repair my vebicle. Sent it to colonial where they didnt fix my tire properly. Poor customer service. Do not bring your car here.
