This is the first time I stepped foot to Summerhays, great location, the presence of store front is inviting; the facility is clean throughout and organize with displays of bass, cello, violin, viola, ukulele, guitar, clarinet, trumpet, etc on the sales floor.Jerry is friendly-nice, prompted greeted me, showcase the instruments the store carries; he introduced me to Chris to further discuss the type of services Summerhays offers.I also met Shylee on the sales floor, shes a nice-friendly team member; between Jerry and Shylee, we discussed my violin needs and went from there.Walked around the store, the music books, cleaning items, guitar belts, instrument mini ornaments and childrens harmonicas and other kiddie music items were readily displayed, it was easy to view items at eye-level, everything was easy to find.Before I left the store, purchased a mini violin ornament, super cute and well made/high quality, I intend to hang this cutesy instrument ornament in my office (see pic image). The guitar straps were on sale at 25% off the day I was there, purchased the yellow leather strap, good workmanship and material. Picked up two (2) harmonicas for kids.Customer service desk was helpful-professional, the two guys quickly rang me up, and one of the guys answered my questions; they were both cordial-pleasant behind the counter.From the time I walked in through the time I exited the store, I knew this is the place to go and return again, if ever I need instrument(s), fixing-repairing, the experience was positive. Will return the following week to pick up the Yamaha violin.Will return and would highly recommend this professional music store to family, friends and business associates. Summerhays music center is pleasant to work with.

Gave us a good deal.. felt like they kinda rushed us out.. we had to go back and ask about the warranty.. then when my son got home.. he said the mouthpiece doesnt fit.. guess they were too busy. We were super impressed with James when we brought him a stuck tuning slide on our trombone today. Despite being very busy, he took a few minutes to quickly get it unstuck and then talk to us about our vintage instrument. He is quite competent and very friendly. My son plays multiple instruments and we will be bringing all of them here for maintenance and repairs from now on.

We came in with a broken viola emergency toward the end of the day and were so impressed with the service. Dylan and Christian were caring and knowledgeable and even stayed late to make sure we were taken care of. This is a wonderful store!

Another shop really messed my flute up. Dan was absolutely awesome and fixed it all up! I have to tell you, I LOVE playing this flute again! I always loved this flute, but since Dan serviced and adjusted it, it is honestly like a brand new instrument only better! I will always bring my flute to them for services from now on, and Ive already been telling everyone that its worth the drive and the money to have it done here! We have bought several instruments over the years from Summerhays. They are always helpful, whether we are buying an instrument, repairing an instrument, or buying paraphernalia for the instruments. Their rent to buy program has worked really well for us, as well as their financing options. Summerhays is the best place to go for brand new musicians’ needs and even more professional needs.

Shylee was our assistant today and she was amazing. She patiently waited for us to try out instruments for well over an hour while we decided what we wanted. She plays herself, and knows her stuff. She was also great with my girls.As an orchestra teacher I always recommend Summerhays to my students. The staff are all knowledgeable, patient, and dedicated to helping their customers get a quality instrument at the best possible price. Their rent to own program is great, especially because once you own an instrument you can take it back to use as credit to upgrade to a bigger or better one. Allison Morris, the harp specialist, is amazing! She helped coordinate my purchasing of a harp and helped me navigate through many unfortunate events .When the supplier sent me incorrect harp feet, Allison found some from her supply and sent them to me so I didnt have to wait on the supplier. She cares about her customers!

We recently purchased a harp from Summerhays and we cant say enough good things about Allison or the whole store. Allison was very kind, knowledgeable, and professional. She assisted us, gave us time, and went above and beyond to make this experience exciting and memorable. Her excitement for us helped us feel less intimidated and capable of playing our harp!

My wife and I stopped in to grab some items for our son and I have to say that there is a reverence about this place. Another great thing is that they have a list of the local schools and can tell you what your student will require for their instrument classes.

Came here to rent a clarinet for my jr high kid. The staff are very friendly and very knowledgeable. They asked what school my kid was going to and knew the band director and how the instrument should be set up for that specific director. The instruments here are high quality and fairly priced. The very best. I needed to take my clarinet in for servicing since Ill be playing at my fathers funeral in a week. It hadnt been serviced since 2007. They worked with me on getting it back in time and getting me a clarinet so I could practice in the meantime. It was my first time here but Ill definitely be returning.

Summerhays Music is a great place to rent or buy a musical instrument. They also carry accessories, common band/orchestra music along with other popular method books and sheet music. Their instrument specialist are very knowledgeable and so friendly with no pressure to buy. They have a great repair shop and offer home and school delivery for renting/buying instruments which I have used many times. They have an amazing school support program and have made it very easy to get the instruments and supplied I need for my music program. They also offer a school rental nights at the school location even during COVID. They are so friendly to work with which is why I recommend them to my students.

Brought in a Fender Starcaster acoustic guitar for new strings and a basic set-up. Polite, friendly and knowledgeable staff enthusiastically took charge and determined a swift course of action. After a quick thirty minute lunch, they called stating the instrument was ready. Under $15 and back to the tunes, in tune.

My grandson’s tutor said his saxophone was limiting his progress and suggested we move up to a YAS 23 or 26.We went to Summerhays music and they let him play several Yamaha, Canonball and other saxophones. They even brought one in they didn’t have for him to try the next day. That was the one he liked best. They have a huge variety of almost every instrument you can think of but I went there to have them restore an antique metal clarinet from the 1700s and was very nervous but they did a fantastic job. This review is about the outstanding orchestral string repair at Summerhays Music Center. But first, a little background.I am an orchestra and band director in my 30th year of teaching. Ive done business with Summerhays the whole time, both privately and in behalf of my school programs. I also visit other stores, but Summerhays is my go-to source for equipment, accessories, and repairs.They have the best selection of instruments in the valley, and I have found them to have the best developed repair staff in the state. This post is about string repair specifically.Part of my responsibility as a director is to keep the instruments playing, so every year we repair them as necessary, Often, as the school instruments age, Christian Rapp would give me a repair estimate and say, Also, it would be good, at this time, for the instrument to have this one thing fixed, IF you have budget. If not, I understand And then wed fix what was needed, but not what was wanted.Well, this year I found myself with a little bit of extra budget money, because I didnt have any repairs during the shutdown, and it dawned on me to ask Christian if he could revitalize the look of our 25 year old school cellos. They have various scratches and chips after their decades of service. He studied out the problem, which included a German varnish that doesnt repair as easily as the traditional French finish, and gave me a repair estimate. I approved it, and I dont have words to adequately express how great the change is. When the student opened the case, they didnt believe it was the same one. Now Im sending in all my cellos, one by one, and the students are all eager for theirs to be next.TL;DR - Ive always loved Summerhays Music Center in Murray, but this time, because of Christian Rapp - Luthier, I love them even more.

This place is like a museum, its really classy, even if you dont like to play music.

If you want a really bougie venue then this is the place. I came in looking for banjos and banjo music and they seemed shocked that I would think such a redneck instrument should be in their store. Maybe thats a bit of an exaggeration, but they do have a pretty limited variety. Definitely a classical music store for classically trained people. Not really the place your going to find an instrument that isnt high shelf.

It has all string instruments or band too. But it takes care of all your personal needs for your instruments. But remember it does cost a lot, but its worth it because its a growing experience. My parents wanted me to grow and learn new things. And instruments help get smart and a better understanding of things.

I always have a good experience when I come to this store.Today I came in looking to try out mouthpieces for my trombone, but I didnt really know what to look for. Right as I walked in though, this really nice employee instantly asked what I was looking for, and he went on and explained the process of getting mouthpieces and helping me determine my price range, etc. He brings me back multiple mouthpieces to try out in their practice room and he gives me plenty of time to try them all out before coming back in. He explains more about the different mouthpieces and answered any questions I had, and so on. Eventually, I find the mouthpiece Im looking for and ask to buy it and another guy at the counter takes me quickly through the buying process. Got my mouthpiece, they said, have a great day and I said the same back, and left very satisfied having found just what I needed.Thank you Summerhays staff!

Way to much Yamaha.

Way over rated. They dump their name into the schools as a great sponsor of the music programs. Every time I have had to use them to make a repair on an instrument, I was taken to the cleaners. After this last time, I started shopping around. There are many smaller shops locally that charge much less. New instruments are available online at a fraction of the cost.

The staff here it terrific. Its a great place to get your music supplies and instruments. Its student friendly.

No one does instrument rentals, sales, and repairs better than Summerhays! As a local music teacher I’ve worked with a few different music stores and SH is second to none. Customer service and loyalty to the local school system is refreshing and hard to find in a penny-seeking economy. Truly the best.

High points: they applied the full purchase price of our starter piano when we traded it in on a nicer model a few years later. Low pressure salesman. Very helpful and informative staff. Nice selection of pianos.Low points: has sort of a budget feel, though economy is a high priority for me. Both times Ive purchased pianos here, they didnt simply come with a matching bench; had to haggle a little on that.

I picked out a few books and tried out a violin. It was fun to play in the store, but the customer service is lacking. Asked about wood music stands and she said oh those are 200-300$ Im sorry, do I not look like I can afford that? She later asked if my parents had an account.
