This is a well equipped music store tons of guitars, amps, percussion and a separate Store with acoustic pianos. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. What drives me crazy is their website it lists, for example 4 electric guitars and 2 acoustic guitars when you get to the store there are at least 70 electric guitars from budget to high end pro instruments and a separate acoustic room with at least 50 or more. After looking at the website I almost didn’t take the 1 hr drive but glad I did they had exactly what I wanted at a fair price.
If you are looking for good prices, good variety, and good customer service, this is the store to go to. Two repairs, two trade INS, several pieces of equipment and many hours in that store and not one bad experience. They have called the manager while he was off the clock to answer a question. Fixed an instrument while I waited and had no issues with me testing amps with my own bass (not that they should but only one other store didnt have an issue with that so wow). I send everyone to them, and drive two hours to visit them past a store thats ten minutes from my house
Hands down the ABSOLUTE BEST Locally owned and operated music store. Ive been dealing with Andy and the crew since 1986 and have spent thousands on gear over the years. Always treated like family and with respect whether I was buying a guitar pick or a guitar. Always has what I want/need in stock and if not gets it quick. Always matches or beats online pricing and you take it with you right away. Loyal customer / friend for life.
It is nearly impossible for me to be at this mall and not stop into visit this store. I am an amateur guitar player and normally shop Guitar Center. However, these guys are very proficient and knowledgeable about guitars as well. Have amazing selection of pianos.
The price tag on what I wanted to buy said $79. It rang up at $99. They said that $99 was the best price they could give me. I told him keep it. And ordered it on Amazon it will be at my door for $79.
The prices are marked up on everything. I went to Guitar Center the same day I went to this store. Expect to pay 50 to 100 dollars more here depending on the guitar you want. Also no help from the employees.
The best place in Myrtle Beach to feel all the emotions that musical instruments give. Great staff!!! Jimmy is the best, he walked through with me in store for about half an hour and showed me all the instruments that interested me and I had an opportunity to play on best pianos in the world. I will visit this place every week !!!
Everytime I go here, I leave happy. I’ve been searching for a guitar for seven years, specifically the Fender Kurt Cobain Jaguar. Whenever I asked Jimmy if they had any Jaguars in general, he asked if I had seen “this one, it’s the Kur-” Before he even finished his sentence, I gasped and immediately put my hands out for it. The store is well kept and each associate is familiar with my questions and what I am searching for. Definitely a favorite place to shop when I’m in town.
Go there for violin lessons, Monique is an amazing instructor. Owen has a great selection of anything musical.
Walked in and was instantly greeted. Staff were very nice and easy to talk to. Awesome service :)
I had a blast! I played the Yamaha Modx and the Nord Stage 3. They were very helpful! I purchased my bass there years ago. Always a pleasure!
The staff was great and very friendly. They even gave me suggestions on the best instrument for my grandson… THANKS Joey.
Great selection of Taylor acoustic guitars...recently bought one. Came back to look at more but the skinny older guy who works there was all over me like the first time. ‘Hey, check out this Martin we just got in!’ I told him I just wanted to look around, see what they had. I would’ve stuck around longer but didn’t want to deal with him.Hope that wasn’t Andy himself. Anyway...still a good store.
Great experience here with Jimmy. Learned a lot and found the right strings and a great amp!
Walked in visiting from Asheville, and this place actually had a pedal I had been hunting for months! Super nice staff, and super nice vibe
Great! Getting my granddaughter Queen clarinet straight for school
GREAT, VERY PLEASED WITH THE WORK ON MY LES PAUL.
Had a great conversation with an old school rockhound named Rick dude was awesome I had him show me half the store by the time we got done talking. and I walked away with an Ed Sheeran model Martin lxr and could not be happier. This place has my business anytime Im in town.
Went for advice on a piano we wish to sell. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Stopped in around noon on a Saturday and was fortunate to meet Tom, their in house guitar guru/luthier/tech. He set up my 6 year old Martin PERFECTLY in less than 2 hours - has never played better. Also gave me great advice on ways to maintain it more effectively and helped me with a pedal. I have never been so happy to spend money - this guy is good and an asset to the store to put it minimally.Look nowhere else for help with your axe - guy is a straight shooter and a pro. The price was beyond fair as well. Employees like Tom are why Andy Owings is the best and why I will shop no where else. Thank you thank you thank you!
Store had plenty of nice equipment and the price of the guitar was less than anywhere I could find it on line. However I walked in the store and back to the acoustic room and after 25 minutes and no one bothering to help me I called it quits. I think their prices are very competitive but I hope someone will be there to answer questions if you need it.
Very helpful employees with a large variety of instruments
Have had a few guitars set up here and they do fantastic work, glad to have a great local music store like Andy Owings in the Myrtle Beach area.
I just left this store in hopes of buying a beginner violin. The customer service is seriously lacking. I waited for service and they seemed to overlook me, though I stood at the counter area waiting behind a lady. Finally someone asked if I needed help.I looked at an instrument, asked if they compared pricing, they said yes, but only local, not online.. Okay fine. I researched pricing but local stores didnt have that series. So searched online I asked if theyd be willing to come down off the price since all online stores were selling for much lesser comparable price and free shipping. He wouldnt come down on price but took tax off, okay fine. What bothered me wasnt that he wouldnt necessarily come down on price, it was the rude manner in his delivery. He immediately wrote me off, and said very condescendingly Well, were here to make a profit.. When I told him the price comparison of other stores online would be making a profit too, he said Well, good for them.. You should order it from them, then.. - Yikes!Supporting small business is important to me. But the service I received was really disappointing.. I would of paid full price for the instrument, but after that kind of service I couldnt bring myself to buy it. I will invest elsewhere.
This is our go to music store .Ive always been pleased with the service and staff.
I recently purchased a new guitar at this store and the experience was terrific! The staff was great and prices very competitive with a with a good inventory of instruments. I really do not understand how anyone could say they were ignored or inventory was poor; maybe just competitors? I was there for a couple hours during which time I was helped by two people and allowed to play any guitar I chose in the guitar room. Rose was extremely helpful, and I am looking at $300 guitars, not high end more profitable instruments. The staff was busy, selling a banjo and keyboard while I was there, but everyone was being helped and seemed to enjoy the experience.I also had an electric guitar appraised and tested which they had no problem doing. I noticed one of the negative comments for this business came from a customer getting a low value on his heirloom. Seems like emotions drove that review. This staff is great unless they are hiding a mean gremlin in the back room.
Helpful doesnt begin to describe the level of honesty, support, and utmost care this business offers its customers. I bought a Taylor online but had some kinks with the instrument when it arrived. They could have easily ignored me and closed the transaction. When contacted, they were responsive and went beyond what they should have gone to make sure my guitar was absolutely perfect. At no extra cost to me. These guys were so knowledgeable, Im blown away. They have earned my respect and my business for life. If youre in Myrtle Beach or if youre shopping online, trust this biz. Theyre the real deal. Thank you, Andy.
Staff was friendly and I was able to browse around the store peacefully
Your store is amazing a knowledge of your staff was phenomenal they were very helpful
This is a great family business. Ive shopped here my whole life.
Great local store, if they dont have it, theyll order it for you. Forget the online music stores, BUY LOCAL!!!!
Andy Owings is a very trustworthy establishment. Theyve been in existence quite some time, and are managed by a talented family. The store has a decent inventory of musical items for consumers to choose from. On top of that, the prices on instruments are much lowered in comparison to that of the main businesses that sell the products.
Have good quality merchandise. Big variety. Help is not the quickest. But they know the products
Brought my acoustic in to have the action lowered and when I got it back the g string kept clicking like the neck was going to break everytime I adjusted the tuning. Took the acoustic back to show them and all they did was insult me to my face like I didnt know how to play guitar. They are lazy snobs who only want your money, but dont want to work for it.now I have a busted guitar. Ill never go there again.
HUGE selection of strings as well as dreamy guitars. Andy and Jr. are top notch people and always take care of me when I visit. A must visit place when you are at The Grand Strand.
Purchased a piano from this store recently, couldnt be happier. The customer service was on point all questions that I had about the piano, the staff was very knowledgeable. My daughter will soon be taking up violin lessons and I plan on purchasing a violin from them also. By far the best music store in Myrtle Beach. I would highly recommend anyone to go there when purchasing an instrument or interested in lessons. If I could give it more than five stars I would. Happy customer I am.
The only two times I have been to this store, I have walked right back out the door. I went to the piano side. The first time (summer of 2017) I went just to look. The last time (summer of 2018) I went planning to purchase a piano. Both times I went, I was totally ignored. I guess because I am younger, so they don’t think I am a serious buyer. I will not spend big amounts of money at a store like this. I could understand if they were busy, but there was only one other customer in there and there were at least three employees in there. I have been to every piano store in North Carolina and most large ones in South Carolina and have never been ignored like this.
Great hospitality had just what I needed plus a WIDE VARIETY of guitars amps and pianos...
Andy Owings is the best go to place for all music needs. Everyone is so friendly and will help you find what you are looking for!
Jimmy was da GOAT fr
Took my daughter there to purchase another guitar. They had a nice selection but trying to get some assistance was impossible -- we were ignored by the sales staff! They either forgot or dont care that they are not the only guitar store in the area. We will make our purchase at a store that cares.
After reading some of these reviews, I was a little bit scared to go in. Upon coming in, however, I found that stuff were really personable and friendly. I was approached by the staff member Mario, who was really helpful and actually played some bass with me. They were great about letting me play what I wanted to and explore everything the store had to offer. They were helping anyone that came in, even someone like myself who was just on vacation. Their prices were just like any other store and reasonable. Dont let these reviews scare you. If youre polite to them, theyll be polite to you. Next time Im in town I will absolutely come back to this store, hopefully with money in my pocket to buy something!
I went into the store to by a flute for my daughter for the school band. The staff was very friendly and helped my daughter find the perfect flute and case for her to start band with. She was so excited and it was for a great price. I highly recommend purchasing your instruments from here because the staff makes your experience so great. I would have been lost without them. My son also was told about their other store that offers affordable guitar lessons.
Horrible, one of the owners made me feel unwelcome and rushed me. He believes if you touch an instrument you have to buy it automatically or he stops you from playing it.
I started playing again a year ago after a long break. This year I decided I wanted an acoustic guitar to go with my electric. I was at the mall with my wife and went in to look at the guitars. The store had just opened for the day and since it was the weekend I didnt expect anyone to spend time with me teaching acoustic guitar 101. Andy Jr. Took the time though, walking me though the different guitars, features, and styles. I tried a bunch of different guitars and found a Taylor Big Baby that I fell in love with. The staff has generally been pleasant and helpful when asked but my experience with Andy was outstanding. The price is a little higher than the Internet but it includes setup and I like to support local business. Thanks Andy!
BEST place around. Best staff, best gear, and best prices. I can honestly say it, because I have shopped there for several years now. Everyone is awesome there :Andy Sr(the don), Andy Jr(the man), Fred, Tom, Lou, Nancy, Mario(Fred v2.0), Mr. Mo Hawk, the piano guy, the late and great Paul! Hope I didnt forget anyone!! Thank you guys for all your hard work.
Last week I stopped in with my wife just to look at the pianos. We where very fortunate to meet Terry, who made us feel very comfortable. He spent tons of time with us answering all of our questions and providing lots of knowledge. I wasnt planning on making a purchase for several months, but ordered a Yamaha baby grand a few days later for my wife. Since she is now so wrapped up in piano, I decided (at 65 years old) that it might be nice to learn guitar. We stopped back in the store yesterday and spent time with Lou. I know absolutely nothing about guitar, but he gave me an education. He gave us all the time we needed explaining what to look for in a quality guitar.Bottom line is that, from my point of view, this has been a great place to deal with and I know we are in the beginning of a long term relationship. You should definately check this place out.
Great selection of music gear to choose from but lack a of proactive sales team. I’ve worked in music retail business for several years and was surprised not to get a single “May I help you”. The store wasn’t busy at all so perhaps I caught them on an inventory day? Funny thing was three people came up to me asking for assistance like they thought I worked there lol
I stopped in to get my Digital keyboard key fixed, but they dont do digital keyboard repairs. The man gave me a phone number for someone else to call in the area.
They CLAIM to have On-Line Pricing... NOT!!!Do Yourself A Favor..Buy It On-Line!
Bought a guitar and amp here. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable about helping me find the perfect set. Store also had a huge variety of instruments unlike Walmart or other chains. Will be back again soon👍
Prices recently got a lot better. They compete well with corporate shops and online vendors. Very pleased in the recent improvement of this place.
Purchased a guitar for my husband at this store. I got a deal on it:) My husband loves it! Staff was sooooo personable and not pushy at all. I wasnt too sure what to expect since I purchased this as a gift without knowing anything about guitars.... the staff knew exactly what type of guitar was perfect!! Great store and great prices!!
Full service music store. Instruments, equipment, and sheet music.
Went to the store to look around, and the staff was very friendly! They have a very large selection of instruments, and most (if not all) are set up and ready to play. Very happy I found this little gem.
I have been a musician for 16 years; starting playing when I was just 11. My first experience at a music store was with Andy Owings Music. Back when they were still located at Myrtle Square Mall, which has long since been demolished. Even at my young impressionable age and not really knowing anything about my instrument, their staff was always very accommodating. Anything I needed, general questions, help with new equipment, maintenance, they had always helped me. Over the years as I have grown as a musician, I have come to understand and appreciate a quality music store, as I have visited many. Consider this, several music stores have come and gone over the years here in Myrtle Beach, Andys is the only one that has stood the test of time. So ask yourself why? I implore you to see for yourself and then write your own review. As for me, they will continue to receive my money.Let me close by saying that I have read all the current reviews listed, and its appalling how quickly someone will attempt to condemn an establishment. Let us not forget that we are all in fact human and capable of mistakes. These ratings do actually mean a lot to these independent business owners trying very hard to make a living in this era of tax free internet purchases at Buy It Now prices with free shipping... Support your local businesses!!!
Andy Owings Music Center is your one stop shop for all things music. Whether you are a professional musician, an appreciative listener, student or play for relaxation, youll find what you need here. Instruments, accessories, sheet music, school of music, service, repair, and delivery. This is the place for band instrument rental. This is where the staff are not only specialists in each segment of the store, they are also the musicians you see and hear playing around town and at Carolina Opry. Serving locals and tourists, Andy Owings Music Center is a must visit location every visit to Myrtle Beach.
Terrible customer service, and so unfortunate because the owner is amazing as a person/known in the community. Went in last week, a long haired gentleman with a goatee was very abrasive, down talking my guitar immediately and telling me the repairs would already probably be $100 more than its worth before even pricing it or asking anything about it. Side note: Its a family heirloom thats extremely sentimental. Then another guy (younger, tall, heavyset) took my number and was more helpful (told me it would be best to take my guitar with me but he would call me in 3 days or so). No call as of Tuesday this week. Called again on Wednesday, and Brennan seemed much more helpful as I described the situation to me. He told me he would try to call me back by the end of the day Wednesday. Its Friday afternoon, and still no phone call. I understand its a busy time of year, but the experience so far has been terrible.
Friendly staff and great service, they have a wide selection of instruments but as a guitar guy, I stayed for a while just to look at everything. Definitely a must stop if youre a musician visiting the Myrtle Beach area.
Wonderful customer service taking all time to answer questions and give assistance. Incredible inventory for all musicians and music lovers! On this trip found great German made earphones for my Yamaha keyboard and new music books. Beautiful pianos with WiFi players! Check out the QRSPNO3 and Yamaha WiFi players! Love mine!
I recently purchased a Yamaha DTX 522 electric drum kit...my first electric drums. I had no problem getting assistance or answers to my questions. They hooked a set to an amp and allowed me to play till my heart was content. Since I was driving my wifes car and not my truck, the owner was actually willing to get the drum boxes just so I could see if it would fit in my car before I purchased the kit. I have been many times without problems, and had questions answered over the phone. As for the reviews concerning rude employees, the reason you never have this problem on-line is because youre not dealing with people. I prefer the old fashion face to face dealing. I also prefer to spend my money at home, in my community.
Best music store in Myrtle Beach. They are the most knowledgeable, friendly, and all around best music center. Andy Sr. and Jr. are great guys and know what theyre doing. Highly recommend this store.
Came in for a simple neck adjustment. Jason did it quickly for free. Highly recommended
Worse than a pawn shop, faded old equipment at full retail prices. Some of their employees are good but the owner is a thief. Avoid this place at all costs.
Im pretty pleased with my experience. Things get a little hectic inside, but I remind myself that it is a store within the mall so they are overwhelmed with walk in traffic. As a business owner I understand the importance of having to watch all of the equipment within the store so nothing gets broken or damaged. Its very easy for this to happen with folks everywhere and sometimes children running loose. Things can happen. While watching over the store, its still of the most importance to deal with customers individually to generate repeat customers for life. Its a full time job. Im in the same situation. As for my purchase, I purchased a Hartke KB15 Bass Amp. It was for my church. And wow!!! I have never played thru any amp that great in my life. Please, please please, if you are looking for a bass amp have these guys order u one. U will be blown away! I promise. Watch YOUTUBE & read reviews.....
Went in to try out a few guitar paddles. And had my eyes on a amp. Was told they wouldnt set up the peddle to any amp and then said to go on You Tube if I wanted to hear what it would sound like. Very unprofessional. Lost a customer
Best music store at the beach
Good prices
Great experience! Very knowledgeable! Very friendly! Great selection! They are priced fairly.
I went into this store and found a guitar that I wanted to purchase. After dealing with a salesperson who complained about returning to work from a day off to a disorganized state combined with his attitude of me bothering him from playing the instruments - he talked me out of buying the guitar. I emailed the store and outlined the entire chain of events and they could not be bothered to reply. The store looks great from the outside but this staff member will turn you away. I found a Guitar Center in another city and made the purchase. On December 2nd I received an email from Andy Owings Sr. who advised me that he did investigate my complaint and that it was presented at a store meeting. His email was sincere and I accept that there was some confusion in the store that day as the guitar I wanted to buy was a brand new model and concept. I will return to the store and give it another try.
I wanted to buy, but they were aloof to me. This is a snobby shop. I got quick help from an associate and when I tried to ask questions, they were all busy chatting with their buddies. Sheesh. It sucked. Guitarzan is the best find I had in Myrtle. This place was like a crappy version of Guitar Center, and thats saying something!
A hint to the apparently business clueless...inventory should be taken care of BEFORE or AFTER store hours. I didnt drive 3 hours to see a silly closed note on the door. Bad business.
Dropped off a guitar to have two active pickups installed. It took a whole week (7 days) for their guitar tech to get to it, and then he tells me the neck pick up is dead. Guitar-Zan had it up and running in less than a day, five hours to be exact. Even installed a killswitch. And that dead pickup sure sounds aIive to me.A music store to rent flutes for little kids, not a real guitar shop at all...
Best music store I have ever been in, so nice and very helpful. Love Andy Sr and Jr they have a great luthier also.
Great local music shop with so many things to play! Good prices and nice, knowledgeable staff.
Couldnt be happier with the costumer service! Went in looking for a beginners guitar for my son, and had the best experience! Cant wait to sign him up for lessons!
They don’t let you play the instruments and or make you feel uncomfortable while doing so. As a practiced musician this is a deal breaker. I would never buy something, especially at a high price range without playing it extensively first
Awesome service with style. Very knowledgeable but not intrusive.
Ok store. Was one of two customers in the store and none of the employees even bothered to speak. Prices are in range but youll get more help on the internet.
Needed a Djembe in a pinch for a gig. Left my gear at home in ST Pete FLCalled on the way in from I-95 and not only did they have all of what I needed, they were a pleasure to deal with. I highly recomend this business to any musican. Very friendly and intelegent staff. Management is outstanding and closed the deal. All smiles at the gig. THANKs AGAIN!
Always great quality products.
Took my son to look at guitars and amps. The store was dead and We had to ask for help. The sales fellow was more concerned about telling us ALL THE STUFF that he has yada yada yada.Never shut up. well after 10 minutes of that we politely left.Wont be going back.
Total satisfaction with service of Andy Owings Music! I was vacationing in Myrtle Beach and found the Yamaha Clavinova clp535 at a reasonable price that included delivery to my home in Spartanburg SC. Excellent service! They did everything right!
Great knowledge on everything I wanted to know about different products plus people friendly
A great and large joint to buy high quality musical instruments with helpful and friendly staff!
Rude associates
I am primarily a keyboard player who happened upon this store while walking through the Mall on vacation so take these words in that regard.First of all this is VERY Large Store for an Independent(?). But not large enough. Place looks a little like a haphazard warehouse. Multi thousand dollar Grand Pianos on the floor surrounded by a menagerie of accessories and plenty of over head noise, Not a place I would want to listen to the subtitles of an expensive piano (unless it was plugged into a wall). Regarding electronic keyboards it seems the salespeople, although nice enough, do not seem knowledgeable about them.Strange considering the amount of sales people working at the time. Dont even try to get PA demo. That room should be closed to the public, A drum accessory room looked like a closet with unorganized and mismatched shoes on the floor. Seems there are drum accessories in a few places around the store rather than centralized. Perhaps that is so you have to ask for help. This place could use professional help in organization and display. Too much inventory to display properly. Electronic drums upstairs and another set downs stairs? Drum accessories seem scattered. All in all this place seems to want to be primarily a guitar store and that is where the salespeople seem to really shine and come to life. No quizzical looks when asking about guitars.. There are many beautiful and not so beautiful guitars of all prices sizes shapes and colors hanging on the walls. Major brands. Major prices.Prices are consistent with the Internet for the most part, However unlike the Internet you get the one off the wall handled by who knows who rather than one packaged in a box. This is likely the way guitars are sold in most music stores though and I view as an advantage to Internet sales of guitars. I would want the one I played. Too many variables otherwise.Bottom line for me is if I was looking for a good selection of guitars and a knowledgeable sales staff in that regard, this is a great place. If I am looking for an acoustic piano or multi thousand dollar electronic piano or keyboard I would prefer go to a quiet stand alone piano store or in the latter case, a store with at least an electronic keyboard specialist who can demo and answer simple questions. Seems if its not plugged at Andy Owings, there is a lot of knowledge there and a good place to shop.If it plugs into the wall you had better know what you want ahead of time.
I purchased a Taylor 914ce acoustic guitar two years ago and recently my bridge cracked across the bridge pins ( keep in mind this is a 4,000 dollar guitar) I took it to them for advise, either let the crack ride or send it back to Taylor for a bridge repair. So I dropped it off so they could have three or so people look at and they all came to the conclusion that this was a customer error and that apparently I have not taken the precious time to hydrate my guitar. SERIOUSLY!? I have been playing for 11 years Im a solo recording artist and have been in multiple bands and have a HYDRATED STUDIO in my house. I have played Martins from the early 50s that have had little hydration therapy and theyre are still going strong. So after all this they told me they could ship it off to Taylor for me and I could just pay them for shipping, I didnt want to give them any of my money after they completly pawned the problem off on me. So I told them I would probably ship it myself they said when I come in to get it and change my mind that they would send it out for me. So I had to return home up north that week so my parents went in to pick up the guitar and ask them about shipping it, they told them they dont ship. Lesson learned do not shop at Andy Owings the staff are worthless and they have no consideration on what kind of buisness you have given them over the years.
I am 15 years old from New Jersey. My family owns a house down here and everytime we go to the mall, we love going into the music store. I have been coming here for about 3 years now, buying music and playing pianos everytime I go into the store. Keep in mind, that I have been playing piano for 8 years now. However, the last time I was here, I decided to go in the store and play a couple of pianos while my parents were shopping in another store. If you ever go into the store, there are about 30 different acoustic pianos, ranging from many brands. I sat down at this beautiful Yamaha spinnet and started playing quiet, soothing music. Many customers were glancing over at me in surprise and enjoyment. At the corner of my eye, there is a employee coming over to me and standing over my shoulder. Last time, I was here, one of the employees came over to me and was impressed how well I played. I thought this time that, that was the case. Instead, in a rude tone, the man told me to stop what I was doing and move away from the piano. I was startled, and turned my back. There the man was standing firm and tall over me and gave me this lecture of how that the piano was sold. and that if you just bought a new car, how you wouldnt want anyone else driving it but you. THEN WHY DO YOU GUYS HAVE PIANOS OUT LIKE ITS NOTHING. If you didnt want anyone playing it, at least move it to the side (it was at the end of the row) or put a cover on it. The SOLD sign was covered and so small. I am disgusted. Never will come back here again.
Ive been playing music for 4 years now. 2 of those years at a professional level. Ive never been a fan of corporate guitar shops so when I realized this place was independently owned I got my hopes up as I was hoping to find some cool independent shops while I stayed in Myrtle Beach for the weekend. I walked in and first impression was good. Everything was clean, organized and they had a good selection of guitars and keyboards. However, one thing that did make things seem fishy to me from the start was I didnt have a word said to me the whole time until I started asking questions. I got upstairs, spotted an Ibanez TSA15h/TSA112C that Ive had my eyes on for a while now. So I asked the man upstairs who hadnt said a word to me prior to me asking him if I could try it out. He said yes and proceeded to grab a cable for me and didnt say anything about a guitar. I have been in boutique shops where as soon as I walk the employees will tell me Let us know if you want to play anything and we will get it down for you, but please dont play anything without asking. In a boutique shop where theres barely anything on the walls below one or two grand I get that. But I picked up an 800 dollar Fender Strat because there werent any guitars that were all that nice on the upper story where I was. As I did this the employee who was helping me ran over to me and said in a very rude tone Do not pick up any more guitars without asking somebody first giving me a you should know better than that impression which was slightly offensive to me. Then he stood beside me the whole entire time I was playing after that and was ranting on about how their store is bigger than guitar center and the biggest shop in SC and blah blah blah.. So I turned the amp up, tried to drown him out a bit, and played for 10 minutes before leaving the store. Overall, if you know what you want, and want a good selection of stuff and you are a patient person. Go for it. Theyve got great gear in there and its all organized well. But if you want good customer service, a pleasant experience, and nice friendly employees then dont even bother with this place. Ibanez is lucky because I am going to buy the amp. Andy Ownings isnt because I can assure you I will not be buying it from them, and probably not anything else in the future either.
This music store is by far the best spot with in a 2 hour radius at the beach.
First time inside the store, very helpful
Ironically they are not musician friendly. I went in to demo a guitar for a series purchase and was treated like a martyr. The saleswoman that was assisting me acted like my questions were blades to her ears. The staff was extremely uninterested, disconnected, and rude. The worst music store experience by far.
So happy to have such a great local music shop.
Very rude staff, wouldn’t allow me to play most guitars and made me uncomfortable about the ones I was allowed to play. Also advertised guitars that they didn’t have. I will not be returning.
SUPPORT the mom and pops music stores...Andy Jr is a good hearted person who truly cares !!!!...5 Stars all the way, they Rock !!!!
Went in to buy some fingerpicks, the girl showed me the box where they were I picked out what I wanted and went to pay then another lady came to the counter and asked about keyboards I got totally ignored with my $12 purchase and the assistant went after the big sale ! I left the fingerpicks on the counter and walked out . I agree with the other reviews great selection of gear, crappy ignorant staff
