It wasnt really a five but compared to other car buying/selling experiences it was a 10.I got a quote online, went to CarMax and sold my Corolla for the amount quoted. Everything was clear and concise. All done in 90 minutes. The nice waiting room and vending area were a bonus.

I made an appointment at CarMax in Naperville after I had gotten an appraisal online from them a few days earlier. I walked in and the man at the front desk greeted me with a huge smile. (I believe his name was Scott or Steve. Sorry!) I sat for one minute and they called my name. Ari took me to his desk and explained the process to me. He said it would take 45 minutes. To my pleasant surprise, 25 minutes later they called my name and he told me that they were going to buy my car for exactly what they told me online. I proceeded to the business office where I was greeted by Margarita. She was very warm and kind... Not to mention fast. I was in and out of there in less than an hour. Overall it was great! I went in initially and found the vehicle I wanted only to find out someone else is test driving it and possibly buying it. Throughout my entire time I was kept updated with everything. So in the end the person didnt end up getting it and I was able to reserve it and purchase it. Costumer service was great and quick to process all of the paperwork. Got online quote in 5 mins. I had to drive for about 100 miles to Carmax. The evaluation was done in 30 minutes. My car was in the same shape as declared in the online form and the outcome of evaluation was same as the online quote. In another 30 minutes the car was sold and stepped out of the store with cheque in hand.. It was a fantastic experience selling the car.

Just bought a car here and my second order is on the way. good experience . I chose them for two reasons.1. Reasonable price on the web, No games, No surprise, No additional costs, and no time wasted.which is big different from traditional car dealers. Similar to buying a Tesla, many things can be completed online, signed agreement and pick it up will not take more than an hour.2. Also Carmax provide 1,500 miles and 30 days of returns(no other dealer can do this), so all cars have to inspected before they put on the market. really nothing need to worry about it.However, if the car you order is shipped from an out-of-state Carmax, it may take more than a month. Some cars need to change the title in Illinois after they arrive, so better to ask sales before you order.

We made an appointment at 6:15 for our appraisal and that was completed by 7, which was great. However, we were told that it would be about 3 hours before they could finish the payout, so we had to go home and bring it back to finish the next evening. This could have been problematic as we were buying our new car that day, but luckily, we had enough in our account to cover the down payment. Other than that, things went very well and the price they offered was way better than any other we had received.

We love the selling process, so convenient, no longer need to worry about the payment method, they give check that can deposit immediately. No longer need to take time to process the documents by myself. And most important is that they give very good offer, the price is sooo good that we made our decision to sell our car to them immediately. I love the experience, and would like to share with others as well.

Ended up with a slight delta from my online evaluation, but that was largely my fault for getting the trim wrong. Everybody I encountered were friendly, efficient, and explained the process well. I went on a Saturday so it was busy, but I still didnt feel I waited an excessive amount of time between each step of the process; nonetheless, you should expect 60 - 90 minutes, so go a different day if you can. Came away with check in hand very pleased with the experience. So much easier than the worry of a private sale.

A few weeks ago I was offered $600 for my car. I understand that the price is locked for 7 days but I couldn’t sell the car. When I went to the store I was offered $300. Which in my opinion was way too low. No way my car depreciated 50% in just a few weeks.

First, Larry helped us sell our car to Carmax. He was diligent, polite and thorough. Then after we agreed to the sell the car for the offer price, we worked with Isibel on the paperwork and fine touches to make the transaction complete. We left our house, did the sale and came home in 90 minutes. Fast & Efficient!

Although the process to sell a company owned car was a bit overcomplicated, I understand the local manager was following the carmax process and we got the job done. I was happy with the price and sold a second car the next day.

Don’t sell your car to CarMax!Got a quote online & then took my car in. They spent 20 minutes looking at my car and then dropped the offer in half saying my transmission was slipping. That’s funny since the transmission was replaced a few years ago. Took it straight to the dealership to have them review the transmission and guess what? No issues. Got higher offers from the dealership & Carvana for my car.When I received my car back after the 20 min review my radio had also been changed to 95.9 Big County & the volume was all the way up. Kinda hard to listen to an old car with the speakers blaring isn’t it?

Upfront, consistent, no hassle, fair.Selling my car out of lease. Barriers and incompetent service from Honda Finance caused the transaction to take over four weeks. Throughout that time, CarMaxs offers were consistent (four offers within +/- 1.4%).When I finally got title, CarMax paid what it offered. The inspection time was less than stated. I waited a little longer for the back-end paperwork than I had expected, but once my turn came, it was quick, easy and courteous (e.g., put my dirty license plates in an envelope and told me how to dispose of them.)CarMaxs disclosures and instructions were clear and accurate. CarMax paid me above local private transaction rate because it is able to ship cars to other markets using its own trucks. Unlike Vroom and Carvana, CarMax did not take a huge deduction for one fender-bender.You may or may not get more money from a private sale, but CarMax is safer, easier, quicker and much more transparent.

Carmax may be a giant company, but the people working in the business center of the Naperville location are amateurs. Tried selling them my Audi sq5. After accepting their offer and waiting for an hour, I finally was able to get to the business center to finalize the deal. I provided my payoff quote, and asked if there would be any reason that the 3rd party pay off number would be different than my individual number. She said no. I asked again, and she said NO. Of course, after waiting for another hour, she informed me that the Audi financial 3rd party payoff quote was 4K higher than mine, completely blowing up the deal. These people buy and sell thousands of car a week, but seem clueless to the process. Do your own research, and don’t rely on any information that you get from carmax about buying out your lease at risk of wasting your time.

There were dividers everywhere needed, everyone was wearing a mask, and there were stickers on the floor to help with social distancing. Even when I gave a man my license to verify who was test driving the car and to make a copy of it so I could still have it with me while test driving, before handing it back to me he disinfected it.I felt very safe here. Great job to them on making this a safe experience.

Weve had a fantastic experience working with CarMax. My wife and I have purchased two pre-owned vehicles with extended warranties and received a fair price for both trade-ins. The sales associates and their no haggle pricing is particularly appealing. Their service department communicates very effectively and treats customers with respect.

After searching for several months, and having one ridiculously bad experience after another with local dealers (theyre just the worst), I found the perfect car for me at a Carmax in California. Even after the shipping fee to bring it to the Naperville location is was STILL less expensive, with more options and fewer miles, than anything available locally.I dealt directly with 6 Carmax employees, both here and at their customer support center. All of them were fantastic. There was one problem with the original sale, and another with a minor repair after I took delivery. Everything was handled extremely quickly and professionally. I literally couldnt be happier with the car I found, or with the folks in Naperville who helped me get it.

The price Car Max paid for our used car was very good. The two guys who interviewed me and appraised the car were very professional and Covid conscious. Things fell apart when it was time for the car to get a final inspection and time to complete the sale. We were told 45 mins to an hour because there were other people in front of us. Fine. Well after an hour and other people coming and going We finally asked what the status was. The receptionist check and said as soon as we get your plates off the car well get right to the paperwork process. So I informed her that I still had the keys and the car is out in the lot, hows that all gonna work? Oh sorry, REALLY! I was asked to please bring the car into the inspection bay and then theyll get started. So another 45 minutes later we were done. Really, how could over look us. We stayed right in the waiting room area the entire time and you had my cell number just in case we wondered away. CarMax, Naperville you blew it!

The service department is great! Very fast and they have been very honest with me. I’ve dealt with Tom a few times and he always takes care of me and my car. He always takes strides to make sure my car gets the right care and diagnosis. It’s nice to know that warranties will be upheld without someone lying through their teeth to make a few bucks.

In 2015 I bought one of their certified used vehicles for a seemingly reasonable price of 20k. Less than a year later, due to an unfortunate accident, the car ended up in a shop where the shop and the insurance adjuster later discovered previous damage that was undisclosed from a previous accident that ended up totaling the car, whereas the original estimate was well under the total value. I felt played and taken advantage, that I was sold a certified used vehicle that had previously sustained considerable damage that wasnt reported. Apparently their inspection isnt that thorough if an entire rear quarter could be repaired and repainted and still go unnoticed.I feel like I lost considerable value with this purchase and it resulted in the total after an accident instead of an insurance-paid repair, so went a month without a car and no rental coverage while I had to search for and purchase another one and sort the total out with my insurance.Buyer be ware, their certified used checklist is not that thorough, and will not catch previous accidents if they werent reported.

This Is Everything that happened. Came in picked out a car, Did all the paper work took 3 hours! System was down was told to come in Monday it will take 20 minutes car was technically mine then Was asked 2 times to reserve the unit via text / email Did reserve it both times quickly. When you came in to purchase. Unit was sold. And there was no call or anything before i came in to waste me and my fathers time, very unprofessional.

Just Wow!!! after trying to sell my car at a few other dealers I was completely frustrated. Went through the Kelly bluebook instant offer process. I went to the recommended dealers. The offers I received were ridiculous after waiting hours at each....... So I filled out the sell my car info on the CarMax website, set an appointment, and the offer came in a few hundred dollars less then estimate. I received $3.000 more than the standard dealerships were offering. They even stayed open late to take care of us. The whole process took about an hour and a half and we walked out with a fair market value check in hand!!!

Buying experience was as well as can be expected when purchasing a car. While less hassle than a new car dealer, more time should be spent by the sales personnel after purchase to explain the operation of the complicatedradio/navigation system/phone interchange etc. The buyer does not really know what questions need to be asked regarding the new technology.
