We had an ok experience having lunch here. The place is cozy but sort of small on the inside while outside was full of annoying flies. The sandwiches were hit and miss. The french dip and brisket were good while the pastrami one not very good. In addition they didn’t have ribs. The egg appetiser was quite good. They have a choice of sides. I took the coleslaw which was ok but also super small.
This place was absolutely delicious very small quaint place nestled on the corner but definitely a hidden gem! The boudin egg rolls were absolutely sinfully amazing! Was pleasantly surprised to have some sliced duck on the charcuterie board & the spicy mustard & almonds that came with it were a wonderful addition as well! This triple D spot is a must try while visiting New Orleans!
Piece of Meat offers the best BBQ in NOLA without exception. The brisket is juicy and youll want all the gristle. The ribs are cooked very well and are a bit licorice forward thanks to fennel. The boudin is a perfect blend. Snag an outdoor table. You wont need your knife. The brisket sandwich is famous, but I recommend you get the BBQ Platter on your first visit to sample lots of what they offer. Youll be happy either way.
I saw this place on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives and it was everything it was hyped up to be and more! Normally I would never order Bologna or a pastrami sandwich, but these homemade meats arent like anything Ive ever had before! Highly recommend after youve had your fill of Cajun classics in New Orleans, you gotta stop here and get a piece of meat!
Got the brisket sandwich today and the brisket was absolutely amazing. The roll was a little big but the brisket melted in my mouth. Possibly the best Ive ever tasted. Highly recommend going here.
Boudin and bologna sandwich were amazing, from Seattle for the week and so glad was able to eat here on our last day. Wish would have found this earlier in the week. Well done!
Best brisket and brisket sandwich I have ever eaten. Highly recommend trying this place out... Legit
I got the brisket sandwich and it was really good!! The sauce and pickled onions really added flavor to each bite. Staff was very friendly and they had a nice 90s 2000s playlist playing. 4 stars only because soda tasted like the carbonation was off and second drink came from a can and tasted exactly the same so not sure what happened there. Minus that, everything and everyone was great. If I ever come back to New Orleans Id stop by again!
The good: The food is just magnificent, with very friendly and helpful staff. Mouth watering goodness. The bad: The outside seating (which is all they have) has a REAL problem with flies. Like 20-30 per table buzzing in a constant cloud. I’m no delicate flower when it comes to eating outside, I can deal with bugs, but it was pretty bad. Would definitely go back for takeout or maybe just try in a different season and see if it’s better.
The brisket was much too fatty for me. My first bite was a big chunk of fat. The Buffalo Jojos were hot ant tasty. Three boudin egg rolls were interesting. Friends enjoyed the Philly Cheese sandwich and the platter. Tasted the slaw and it was delish. Loved the outdoor seating. Big picnic tables stained a lovely shade of green and vanished for easy cleaning. The day was nice so we sat outside. I noticed there were fans for cooling as well as heating. Nice touch.
Awesome as always. Friendly knowledgeable diverse staff that goes above and beyond.
A random local recommended this restaurant to my party, and Im so glad that they did. Its mouthwatering good! Whatever the butcher recommends, eat it. We order a little bit of everything; suggesting one particular dish is impossible. Everything on the menu is delicious. Its a short walk from Canal Street with quick access to the streetcar line. Get yourself to this local gem ASAP!
Yall are so friendly and the good was amazing! See you again!!
One of the best (if not the best) meat and foods purveyor AND sandwich shop. Theyre informative and professional, and sell a ton of local goods.
Best butcher hands down. The meats at this place are transcendent and will never disappoint. Like a new lover who is eager to satisfy, Piece of Meat beckons all of New Orleans to satiate their meat sweats within the finest of boucherie. Somehow they manage to serve the meat of royalty within proletarian surroundings.
Pricey but delicious. I found the entree items to have far superior meat compared to other places but other items in the food to not be seasoned as well (not bad, just not as wonderful). But for a place where the piece of meat is the focus, its quite appropriate. We tried the bologna, ham biscuit, corned beef hash, and the charcuterie board. Next time I would definitely come just for the charcuterie and drinks because the meat should certainly be the highlight. There is at least one vegetarian option! It is fun to sit at the bar and see how the menu items are prepared. Service is very fast and very friendly. They all appear to enjoy their work. Definitely will return. Photo is of the hash (after messing up the egg).
Fantastic ethical butcher. Also small grocery. Theres a cool pop up market out front on Fridays from 12-2pm
SO GOOD! Run by all women (or at least as far as I saw), this spot has an open kitchen, a great menu with really flavorful dishes, and a chill atmosphere. The smoker is sitting outside on the street when you walk in so you can smell the smoke!I went the vegetarian route and tried the No Animals Were Harmed (etc.) sandwich, and was a little worried I might not like it. I was entirely wrong. It was just as good as the meat dishes my friends had, if not better. The balsamic and goat cheese make it so flavorful and the textures are on point. My friends got the Sloppy Pablo, the Boudin Egg Rolls, and the Bodega Bologna sandwich. Everyone loved everything and all we could say was “wow” over and over while we ate.Highly recommend!!
Food was delicious! Outdoor eating area was sufficient….too many flies around table & garbage dumping station.
Food was phenomenal!!! And they have an amazing selection of meats you wont find many places.
Food was excellent! The whatever they were called caterpillars, that were all over the outside in the beginning of April really sucked.
Excellent sandwiches and specials. Great seasonal cocktails and superb butcher shop!
Wow what an amazing butcher shop restaurant right in the neighborhood a must stop in mid city.
One of the best pastrami sandwiches you can get in town. It is smoked though, if thats an issue for you. They also have a meat counter that I always have to get something from. Pate to boudain to cured and smoked duck breast, Ive never had anything that hasnt been amazing.
Ordered pick up. Food was ready in a short period of time. Outstanding flavors!
I WOULD WADE THROUGH FLOOD WATERS FOR THIS BOUDIN (I kind of just did).My mom won’t let me home without it.Simply incredible. Friendly staff, cute atmosphere. Do yourself the favor.
This is an excellent butcher shop, especially if you love high quality animal products. They are very willing to do special orders, all you have to do is ask. If you want organ meat, all you need to do is send them an email or call and work out the details and they will set things aside for you, its great. I was able to get both calfs liver and lamb kidneys at a very good price when I visited, as well as high quality eggs, duck fat, and beef tallow. If youre going to go carnivore like I am in the process of doing, this is the place to go. Also, the service is fantastic, and their sausages looked amazing.
I was browsing for a spot to grab lunch today and noticed this spot was was named the #1 hottest restaurant in New Orleans, October 2018 by Eater NOLA.Let me tell ya, they werent wrong. I got the steak of the day [with balsamic red onions, roasted pepper aioli, arugula on and onion roll cut]: tangy, slighty sweet, and savory perfectly balanced. All the meats are cured in house. The butcher workspace is located right behind the cashier where you can watch them work their craft. The meat locker is also on display in the front of the shop. I have to say its pretty neat to see the all the elements that go into making grade A meat for the pleasures of mastication.
Very nice selection and amazing customer service
The Bob Seger of Butcher Shops... and its not even close
Just Wow! Do NOT miss the Boudin Egg Roll! Good counter-style service and so far everything Ive tried (Hot Pastrami sandwich, Not Turkey & The Wolf Bologna sandwich, the fresh sausage patties, and if course, the Boudin Egg Roll -twice!) has been absolutely stellar. Prices may seem at first a little much for a deli/sandwich place but once you try it youll realize you are actually eating gourmet food - without the bow tied waiters and the white linen tablecloths. A definite hidden gem for foodies and I will be back for more.
Finally! I had to try it. I saw this place featured on the show DDD on the food network.I ordered the boudin eggroll, bologna on onion bun, a lemonade to wash it all down.I highly recommend the boudin. It was a stand out appetizer! The bologna sandwich is unlike what I would have eaten as a child. It is definitely worth a try too.I look forward the next visit to try the other prepared dishes and cuts to go.
Very knowledgeable staff with high quality meats and food! Highly recommend to everyone!
Great service, food comes out rly quick! They have a new sandwich of the day constantly and it’s always delicious!! Everyone thinks I’m joking when I say this but if I could only have one more meal on earth it would definitely be from here. Best restaurant in New Orleans.
So I didnt have much time on my lunch break and I wanted a sandwich on the run.. I stopped in and ordered the chicken salad sandwich and got it pretty fast. I was hungry so I was just gonna take a bite just to get me back to work, omg... I ate the whole thing in the parking lot. I could not stop eating as each bite was a wonder; is this sandwich this good or imagination?? One more bite, I have to know...The bread, the seasoning on the salad and Lord have mercy, the blueberry BBQ sauce😍😍😍
Pretty decent lunch spot. Im suspecting theyre a better butcher then a restaurant. I had the brisket and it was fine - the onions nor horseradish had any real kick. We did the ribs as an appetizer - they were a little on the dry/leathery side. Definitely worse places to get a sandwich in New Orleans but I wont be rushing back here anytime soon.
Great food! Absolutely delicious wings and brisket sandwich. Not busy in the afternoon so could get a table easily. Would definitely go back.
I was in heaven just approaching the door. That divine smell of meat smoking.... rawr and the service was excellent. The good was out of this world. I am a giant fan.
So freaking delicious. We kept saying “oh my god” between each bite, it was that good. Highly recommend. We can’t wait to go back! I also love that only women were behind the counter!
This place is awesome! The food was delicious and they clearly have a sense of humor (fake body parts in dryer and cabinet for Halloween flare!) Its all the more top notch since theyre also the butchers.
Best ribs I have ever eaten. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Absolutely a must try.
We had the BBQ Pork sandwich with Buffalo Jo’s and the “Not Turkey and the Wolf’s Bologna” sandwich with Regular Jo’s. Both were great!! Nice patio and located a cool area of NOLA. Check it out!
I had the steak of the day & requested it w/o the bun...it came salad style & was delicious. Hubby had the pastrami & said it was rich & really good. Definitely a good quality meat spot!
The single best sandwich I have ever eaten, but it was small and I couldve easily eaten two. $13 for a piece of meat (no matter how delicious) on a small bun with no sides is too rich for me, except as a rare treat. But, if you have the bucks, the brisket sandwich is awesome.
The highest quality meat you can purchase in New Orleans. I wouldn’t even consider spending my money anywhere else. The deli counter always has something new and creative. Goat sausage, handmade hot dogs, country pate, duck breast, whole hens. It’s all fantastic and the staff is always ready so friendly. Can’t recomend this spot enough.
Great meat, awesome sandwiches!
This place is awesome! Great food, I had a brisket sandwich, my lovely wife had the bang mi. Both were very good, I don’t want to brag but they have some of the best smoked brisket in the city. I can’t wait to try their other menus items. Highly recommended.
We saw the Triple D episode about this place and waited what we thought would be a sufficient amount of time for any hype and larger crowds to go down so we would get an authentic experience. Beautiful Sunday morning, we enter into an amazing smell of meat cooking and a nicely clean establishment. We ordered the bologna sandwich, brisket sandwich, potato salad, and bounden egg rolls then bellied up to the bar seated closest to the kitchen. Food was hot, flavorful, and fast!! Brisket fell a part in ur fingers and then melted in your mouth! Bologna sandwich was perfect!! Bounden egg rolls are to die for and could be a stand alone meal with a side of potato salad!! This place is not hyped at all!!! Deserves every bit of respect and praise it gets bc it EARNS it!! Already called friends and are planning on coming back ASAP!!
The BEST brisket Ive ever had! The sandwich was amazing! My friend had the steak sandwich and said the same thing! Ill definitely be there again to try their different items! You have got to try this place! Unbelievably great food!
Went there for the fried chicken. Absolutely awesome. Delicious batter, fried to perfection, and nine of the biggest pieces of natural chicken I have ever tasted. Cant wait to go back.
Well, Piece of Meat lived up to the hype and then some. Mom and I went for a late lunch last Friday. Such a quaint, cool spot. It’s small but they pack in a good amount of seats plus they have picnic tables outside. It’s still not quite blazing hot in Nola so we opted to sit outside, which was a great idea. The backdrop of Bienville Ave is beautiful and their smoker sits on the street right next to the tables, putting out a scent that Armani could never duplicate. We of course had the boudin egg rolls which were rich, decadent and just plain awesome. Mom had the fried bologna sandwich, I had the pastrami and let’s just say that there wasn’t anything left to take home. So happy to have this place in my neighborhood. For tourists, this is an easy 10 minute Uber from Downtown. Bayou Wine and Beer Garden is next door. Walk on over after an awesome lunch!
Piece of Meat has the farm to table figured out! Great food, great experience and the staff tops it off! This made the top 5 on my NOLA foodie list.
Good service. Inside & outside clean. Display cases for meats. You can ask for trimming a piece.Fresh meat for you to take home and cook. A bit higher thanMarket prices. I got a soup bone for my dog. Next time Ill ask them to cut in 1/2, my dog is small.Menu offers sandwiches, salads; plates & appetizers. Shop also sells specialty items such as pork rellion. Busy area, parking on street. Staff is eager to help. And they sell T-shirts and tank shirts with the clever logo.
Drove all the way from st. Rose, called to place order for 2 lbs of lamb, I stated i would pick up Saturday was told all businesses would be closed Saturday as a result of epidemic. Arrive d only for people to stare at me. I stated what ordered and they said they never received a confirmation from me. Thank you for wasting my time and helping me keep my money . One lost customer 4ever.
Steak of the day was awesome! Grilled perfectly. Nice selection of sandwiches to be had, with daily specials. If youre around the area, this is a great alternative to the standard po boy sandwich shop.
Took 40 minutes to get a sandwich for lunch when there were only 5 people in the restaurant. It seemed like the staff was prepping food instead of cooking for anyone. And I wasnt super impressed with my order. I got the pastrami sandwich and didnt find it very flavorful. Also really greasy.
I love this punk butcher shop. Amazing food.
We’ve eaten and taken out food from PoM weekly since it opened. Love love love. The ONLY reason it missed that coveted 5th Star is because the SODIUM LEVELS are TOO HIGH. Come on, this is 2019! Let’s realize killing your client base is antithetical to longevity of the business. Keep up the great food.
Best meat market in New Orleans! Visiting from Florida and found this place by accident. I highly recommend.
Just stopped her about 2 hours ago and i was quite impressed. Didnt even mean to stop here either but we found it just by chance and we liked the name. I ended up getting a smoked brisket sandwich and it was fantastic. Full of flavor and the brisket melted in your mouth. My brother and father were also with me and they thought the food was amazing. the beans were also fantastic and full of flavor. Even ended up buying some salami at the end, too. Would love to stop here again, its just too bad im from California but i would definitely recommend this place to any meat lover out there.
Boudin egg rolls are to die for
We went here for brunch and it was excellent! The boudin egg rolls were so good. The chorizo scramble was pretty good, but the goat with grits was insanely good.I’d recommend grabbing a full table if you sit outside. The small two top was kind of uncomfortable mainly because the stools are too tall for the table height.
Overpriced and a little dry.
This has to be the best around bought boudin and smoked taso yummy
Neighborhood favorite! Always good service, food, and atmosphere. Had the boudin egg rolls, ham biscuit sandwich, and JoJos. Love the deli too! Will definitely be back as much as possible!
Had the Reverend. This sandwich will change your life. By far the best corned beef I have ever eaten. Had a side of the Joe Joes. This place it really on point obviously ran and staffed by pros who care about what they are putting out there
Too woke
Amazing spot! Great food and staff.
Just amazing, high quality food. Friendlist staff. Cant wait to try every single sandwich at this place!
Purchased 2 massive bone-in ribeyes and a wagyu strip. Quality of meat was fantastic, great marbling, knowledgeable staff, and great experience from top down. If you are looking for great meat at a reasonable price, get to this place ASAP
Piece of Meat, at my first glance, was superb. Both indoor and outdoor seating areas are well planned out and comfortable. I had the bologna sandwich, and like it says, it’s not a Turkey and the Wolf ripoff. It was very good and the only thing similar to T&W’s was that it did not taste like an overpriced sandwich. I also had the boudin egg rolls. I’ve had boudin from all over the state, and this on is up there with the best of them. Can’t wait to try more of their food!
1st time here. Mimosa is awesome, eggroll awesome. Best part, Scotty, the all in one cashier server is amazingly kind. Just a personable, sweet, funny, human. Adoring this place! Thanks!!!
Great service! Everything is top quality and the owner is super nice!
Great first experience, had steak and eggs with a John Daly. Cool environment and kind staff. Will be back and would recommend
Brisket sandwich w/pickled red onions & horseradish mayo is fantastic! Theyre doing brunch now on Saturdays & Sundays.
Most incredible wagyu strip steaks for the BBQ. Great sausage and pate
Oh my goodness! Didn’t eat in, but stopped a a filet for the grill and then decided to try some garlic sausage as well. Delicious and tender. So, so happy to have them in the neighborhood.
This place is amazing. Best sandwich ever - and plenty of food for the money.
The food is excellent the drinks excellent and the staff friendly warm and helpful. Dont let the name bother you this is quality.
Always fantastic! These people know meat. Boudin Egg Rolls are money! Whatever their daily special, get that.
Really great smoked meat 👍 prepared in a yummy and interesting way.
Amazingly delicious! Everything we tried on the menu was awesome.
The lamb was delicious, what there was of it. Id estimate the sandwich was about 85% bread and kale. A bit disappointing.
Food was awesome!
Oye vey. All aposable thumbs up, Leighanntichrist!
Food ok but expect a line to order because dining line is mixed in with butcher customers. Wish the sides were cheaper, it was $6 for the cheapest thing (potato salad). No reason to go here with better options nearby.
