Beautiful crisp fall morning air, you can smell the coffee as you walk up. We came early 7:30 on a Sat thinking we would beat the masses.Lines move very fast. You never think you can get a table but someone figured the seating just right. Staff cleans and sanitized the tables as soon as someone leaves. Always a New Orleans tradition to come here.
This is not the actual cafe du monde. Its just a gift shop that sells their merch, batter mixes, and other souvenirs. And during my trip it was closed down (possibly due to covid) and it looked like they were selling all of the merch, batter, and such at the actual cafe du monde just up the street a few blocks...its labeled as Cafe du Monde French Market on Google.
This was my first experience at Cafe DuMonde. I was really looking forward to it as I’d heard only good things. I have to say I was very disappointed. The beignets were tough, not the pillowy texture I was expecting. It left me wonder if I got an old batch. The frozen cafe au laite was the only redeeming item.
Traditional atmosphere, wonderful beignets and the coffee is fantastic even though chicory added to it is a unique experience all its own
Ruined for life! If you didnt experience this before 2000 just skip it.No table serviceNo plates with hot doughnutsNo glass mug for coffee (but then Starbucks ruined coffee anyway). You will stand in line and pay cash only for a BAG of stuck together steamed goo. This is not the real thing. Each year, it gets worse and worse.
If you want to see and visit and be a part of the New Orleans culture this is definitely a place to go. To be the crowd get there very early and you can actually watch and see all the streetside painters and music players start their morning routine. It’s also peaceful and quiet. You also get the freshest batch of beines that early morning. There hot chocolate is to die for.
Coffee was very strong woke me up. Not a bad taste of coffee the beignets tasted amazing. Had live early morning music also which made it more exciting love it a lot
Love this place! It’s an absolute must visit every time I come to New Orleans. I love the open air market and the live music. They had a musician when I visited. Best time to come is early morning to beat the crowd. It was a great experience to have a beignet in spite of COVID.
It’s a must have when you visit New Orleans, didn’t try the coffee but I think that the next time I go there I should. 100% recommended. The beignets are just so warm when you get them they are just the best, In fact I actually burned my hands and mouth when I got them.
Skip it! Go to Cage Beignet on Royal St. My husband and I have been coming to NO for over 30 years. Never have we seen such poor service and product from this iconic tourist destination. The coffee was awful and the beignets old, served in a prepackaged bag with clumpy powdered sugar. I know COVID has hampered the worker availability, but in this case it is an excuse for workers to do less resting on the cafe’s reputation. Try harder Cafe Du Monde please!!
Great coffee and the beignet mix is very good. Very good prices.
I was surprised tha the beignets wer like a moth old. Not the biggest that I remember 😔😔Coffee very good 👍
Cafe Du Monde was a disappointment .The Coffee was horrid and the beignet was thrown in a bag. Not a square piece of fried dough but it was a lump of dough with poor presentation and excessive amounts of powdered sugar .The poor pigeons are going to become diabetics. I exchanged my coffee for a diet coke .No amount of powdered sugar could sweeten the deal .Overall, Cafe du Monde was Malade .The best part of the Cafe was the conversation with my hubby and the visiting diabetic pigeon was cute and sweet .Take pride in making beignets and just do not crunch up the beignets in a bag and make them lumpy .A big change since 1980.The best part was leaving .Cest la vie! Au Revoir.
Look line but worth the wait! So delicious beignets
The last time we were attended by some very rude Asian women !! is seriously?? They yell at you and push you aside to go to the next customer !! really thats not the spirit of NOLA
Amazing Place. Nice staff. Good food.
Before you get in the long long line... make sure you have cash.... who knew??
As always best beignets and Cafe Au Lait
Price is great, line is long but I wasnt amazed by the taste.
Giving it 5 stars mainly because what this place means to the city and crazy to think all what they’ve been through and they still open. Beignets are good in moderation.
The chicory takes away all the bitterness. By far the best coffee I have ever drank. Starbucks who?
The coffee is not good at all and the beignets are not the same quality as they have been in the past. The beignets are Stretched out and overcook in some areas making it unpleasant to eat. It is always busy and the lines to wait is crazy. Just wish the customer service was a bit better. You just go up and they say “what do you want” then throw a bag of burnt beignets at you.
Long lines but well worth the wait
Big expectations; fell far short. Just ok at best.
Everything is good except for the keurig cups. They are made from strong plastic and the machine fails to punch a hole in the bottom to allow coffee to flow.
Its international coffee day. The 29th of September.
Great food amazing staff
Food good but the worker tried to steal my money. Watch them
Waited in line for an hour to be shown a 8”x 8”sign behind the counter that said cash only. Double checked and Nope! No signs posted anywhere else.
The beignets were so good and fresh
My Dads Favorite place!Ill add additional photos
Tourist trap! Definitely not worth the wait!
A must when in New Orleans!! Don’t forget cash though that’s all they take!!
Amazing!!! It was worth the wait! ❤️❤️❤️
The building, employee, sitting, music, and etc. something I will carry on forever with my family
Was good coffee

Received our order extremely fast
Lovely little store with all the important New Orleans goodies. Great gift ideas. I met Jackie there today, super friendly and pleasant!
Awesome
Un passage obligé à la Nouvelle orléans.Les beignets sont tout simplement succulents :-)
Typical Café du Monde. Dont miss the famous beignets!
