I worked with Gabriella at the AAA store in this location. The service was wonderful! She gave me information books, some relevant magazines of the area I am travelling to and discussed the QR code for further information on my phone. I was thrilled and grateful that they still offer services to help me plan a trip and not just the peace of mind of roadside assistance. Thank you, AAA.
I recommend NEVER using this mechanic. They pay 0 attention to detail, will jack up a quote if they miss something, and will make every excuse to put the mistake on their customers. The place is an assembly line churning and burning out lackadaisical diagnostics and fixes. The managers happily send you away in a halfway working car which could kill someone and if you bring it back they blame the car and charge you for more insane labor rates. I have never experienced more excuses lack of attention to detail from a business. It is WORTH IT to take your car somewhere else even if you have triple a which I do. Save yourself a headache and go somewhere else!!!
DO NOT GO HERE!! My car wouldnt start one day so I called triple aaa and I have a classic membership which gives me a 5 mile radius so I had my car brought here instead of my normal mechanic. They told me my car was throwing two codes that would cause the issue with it not running, 1 for my mass air sensor and 1 for something else that I dont remember the same of. They fixed the issue with mass air sensor, and $215 later my car still was not running, so they told me my fuel pump had gone bad and that would cost another $500+ to fix. I was a little nervous about this so I consulted my normal mechanic and they had me tow my car there. After they thoroughly looked at it, they determined the only thing wrong with my car was that my fuel gauge was broken and I needed gas. Super super annoyed that Bob Sumerel tried to take advantage of a young girl with 0 car knowledge and I am SO SO thankful that for my normal mechanic not doing that. After towing cost I saved over $300.
I just realized I never rated my experience here. When I moved to the area, this was the place people recommended for car maintenance and repairs. However, after several routine visits, there always seemed to be another new issue to appear. Things got worse when I had a major replacement done. Not only was I told one price but charged another (major difference), a store worker was mocking me in front of his boss, calling me a liar and talked about how ignorant I was because I didnt know how expensive a specific car part was. Im not a car person at all so of course I felt shamed. This incident happened maybe 3-4 years ago and Ive never been back since. I just hope that employee is still no longer employed.
In all the locations you always get excellent service. Today was no different once again they did an excellent job of cleaning our vehicle.

I have a 2004 Honda CRV I bought for my daughter used 5 years ago to get her to and from college. 5 years later, many miles, and running great engine wise, I wanted to keep it a bit longer and gift it to one of my nephews or nieces. However the suspension was going to need some TLC. I went to Bob Summerall in Newport and had a talk with Russell Zolonowski. I explained to him I wanted it fixed right as it carries precious cargo, but would still like to keep it within reason. Russ did a detailed analysis, gave me the cost up front, what needed to be done, and what did not. Russ, in my opinion is one of the good ones, honest as the day is long and doesnt sugar coat or try to upsell you. Long story short, the CRV is running great and I know I got a great HONEST deal. I recommend Bob Summerall and in particular Russ Zolonowski, its refreshing to deal with a trustworthy, straightforward individual with great ethics.DavidStrotman.

Very disappointed with this past visit. I had previously used this location for other work. After having two tires replaced, oil change and realignment (Appx $800).... I drove the vehicle home (2 miles). I wake up the next morning to go to work and the battery is DEAD? Coinsidence? I called to ask them about having it looked at and replaced.... They said it would cost me over $250.... I went across the street to Auto Zone and had it replaced for $130 and received a 3 year warranty.
Went there with a problem. They fixed it and had great skills and integrity. They saw problem was a simple hose. Will always use them

The AAA tow truck driver and the other service person who came to my rescue were wonderful! They told me to Bob Sumerel. Tires were a bit pricey, and they tried to sell me four instead of the two I needed, but overall they were good.
I brought my vehicle in first customer of the day. I was told it would get looked at right away. Several hours later I came back and it still wasnt looked at. The employee said I was the next ticket and about a half hour later I was called and told I would have to wait until Monday it was a holiday weekend. Monday comes around and I dont here from anyone until late in the day and was told I will have to wait till Tuesday for more parts. Tuesday comes around I dont here from them until close to closing that my vehicle is ready. I am very disappointed with my experience.
AAA Newport KY has good customer service. I have found the workers there to be dependable with good follow through and service.

I went here because I had previous experience with Bob Sumerall to have the AC checked out on my van. The mechanics spent nearly two hours checking several things and then told me my options and the approximate cost of the repair. Since the van is 20 years old I decided the cost was too high and they agreed with me. Honest mechanics are hard to find. Then I asked what was the charge for the thorough inspection and I was told Nothing! If you want my opinion Bob Sumerall is THE place to take your vehicle for whatever you need.

Went here for The Back To School special: tire rotation, oil change, brake fluid exchange, and wiper replacement.I specifically asked them not to replace my wipers because I prefer keeping factory blades and replacing only the rubber piece myself.Apparently, this is too much to ask.I received the car back with a fresh set of wipers. I had to drive back to AAA to get my old ones back. This wasnt as much of a problem.My main concern was that they did NOT rotate my tires like they charged me for. I knew this because my back, right tire is a Goodyear while the rest are Hankook.None of the tires had moved places.On the same visit for my factory wipers, I told them of this and the repair worker assured me that he had rotated them... Which was a lie.Fortunately, the service rep of the store offered to rotate them again - even though they were never rotated in the first place.He personally took the car in and quickly rotated my tires. I really appreciated his quick turnaround and service.I didnt catch his name but he deserves a raise.If not for his kindness and promptness to resolve my issue, this review would be 1 star.Just putting this out there for anyone else to consider when going to Bob Sumerel.

I got two tires fixed. 2 days later flat again for $29.95 something like that. I think they only put air it it and not fix what caused it to go flat in first place. I felt they ripped me off pulled a fast one on me saying they took care of it but did nothing

This place is horrible!!!! I took my car in for 2 new tires and an alignment. When I left the car still wasnt aligned so I took it back the next day and again alignment was off, they did it again and let me leave, still not right. I took it to a different place and my steering rack had no bolts in it and they Broke my valve stems!!!! How do you align a car and not notice that? Then the manger was More worried about answering the phone then talking to me!
I tried to give this place the opportunity to fix the issue but all they could do was offer an apology for my inconvenience. On 8/9/17, I brought my car in because I had a slow leak in one of my tires. The customer service rep was very courteous and got me checked in with no problems. This is where my satisfaction with my experience at this place stops. I was told that the leak in my tire could not be fixed and that the tire would have to be replaced. I was quoted a price for what I thought was the exact same tire that I currently have on my vehicle. After the work was completed, as I was getting ready to leave, I checked the tire that they had replaced and there was a brand of tire put on my car that did not match with what is currently on my car. I spoke with the customer service rep and he informed me that they did not have the tire that I needed in stock (I needed to know this before they proceeded to replace the tire so that I could go somewhere else). It would have to be sent from their warehouse and my car would be ready later on that day. I was told I would receive a call to let me know the status. The rep offered to cover the 15 dollar mark up for my tire (Even though Id had another tire replaced on my car and just happened to have the work done at another Bob Sumerel location where the price for the exact same tire was cheaper).I received no call that day to let me know that my car wasnt going to be ready so that I could make other arrangements. I called first thing the next morning because I still hadnt been informed of what was going on with my car. I was told that the tire would be delivered shortly and they would be ready for me to pick it up in about an hour. When I got there to pick up my car, I voiced my displeasure and spoke about the inconveniences that were caused ie. missing time at work, having to find alternative transportation to and from work, having to find alternative transportation to and from the Bob Sumerel location. All I got was an apology and a promise to talk to their staff so that it didnt happen again.I also called AAA corporate headquarters to voice my displeasure. The gentlemen who they transferred me to was not very friendly when he answered the phone. He was also unable to offer anything other than an apology and the advice to go price the tire with tire discounters and if I could find the tire cheaper they would pay the difference. I called tire discounters and the tire that Bob Sumerel charges 155 for was only 127 dollars.Moral of the story.... Check with the service rep to make sure that they have the tire you need in stock before they inspect your car. Dont assume that the price quoted to you is for the same tires that you currently have on your car. TAKE YOUR CAR SOMEWHERE ELSE!!
The people here are super friendly, and are always very helpful. They never habe a problem if we just drop off our car, and always call us with needed information. They seem a bit pricey to me, but I really do not have a loval comparison, as we only take our vehicles here. Overall, we are very pleased with sumerel.

I needed Canadian money. the bank didnt even have the forms to request it from downtown. I have been a member for many years so I went to the new office in Newport. They were very helpful and I will pick up my money in 3 business days. I would highly recommend their services. My only complaint would be that the parking lot is too small for both businesses.

I called for a quote on getting my transmission fluid changed, since Valvoline told me it was dirty. I was advised not to get it done if nothing was wrong, because it might cause problems. They turned away money to do what was right for my car. Thats what I need from an establishment. Integrity and knowledge. Ill go there now if anything actually does go wrong, since they were honest.

I have had my car serviced here since I moved to Cincinnati 2 years ago and so far, have only positive things to say about this place! After I bought my tires they sent me a trial AAA membership which has come in handy AND you receive a discount at the store with the card. Today on my way to work I realized that I had a flat tire and there was a winter storm on the way. I was able to put on the spare and when I called the store they were able to get me in right away to fix the tire. While I was waiting for my car I asked if I had time to run next door to get some coffee and the man at the service desk made me a fresh pot and restocked the counter. Another very helpful employee helped me get started with my passport registration.( I dont have names of the employees but if theyre bosss are reading this feel free to contact me and I will describe them) I came into the store basically in tears and couldnt be happier with the way everything turned out today.
Did a great job with my A/C, even did a minor repair while they were in there and didnt even charge me for it (loose bolts on calipers). Would highly recommend.
Terrible experience with this place. They told me the radiator hose needed repair and that I had an oil leak in the engine. I paid $694 for repairs only to have the car break down the next day. They then told me that the gasket blew. To make matters worse when they charged me they transposed the numbers taking $964 out of my bank account and requested I come back in several days to have the correct charges placed. I had to have the car towed to a different mechanic at my expense, $125, because they werent sure if they had the ability to fix the gasket. A

We will not be returning. A word to the wise: if you have a diesel vehicle, do not take it here.This place USED to be the only place I took my vehicles to. I brought my car in for an oil change back on June 2nd. On June 12th, my car flashed an oil pressure light and the engine shut off. I phoned Bob Sumerel right after it happened and Bobby Drake assured me that they were going to take care of it and took full responsibility. I never got an answer to what happened to my car. I suspect it had something to do with it being a diesel engine and them putting the wrong type of oil in it, but I never got confirmation.Travelers Insurance, Bob Sumerels insurance company, then started a month-long ordeal of us getting several quotes from other mechanics to get the car back in working order, basically replacing the engine. Travelers refused to do the repair work citing a KY law that the cost of the repair was more than what the car was worth. The car was considered totaled at this point. Travelers fought us the entire way and we got no consolation from Bob Sumerel or AAA, despite them saying they were going to take care of it.From now on, Ill be taking my cars in to the dealer to get serviced. This whole experience left a real bad taste in my mouth for Bob Sumerel, AAA, and Travelers Insurance.Edit: They reply asking me to reach out to them, I do, and theres no response from them.Edit: Still no response. They obviously do not care that this has happened.

While visiting recently in Ft. Thomas, my low tire pressure display came on. I wasnt a customer, but they aired my nearly flat tire, put it on the rack and checked all 4 tires. They found no leaks or other issues, suggesting that the sudden weather changes with wide temperature swings caused the problem. Adding to my great relief was a smile and a drive safely from the service manager, and there was no charge for the service. Needless to say, I will be going back to Newport when I need new tires.

The Newport Bob Sumerel is a solid choose for car maintenance. Call a few days ahead and they’ll fit you in. There is free WiFi in the lobby and the techs will help you to understand what they are working on and what kind of shape your car is in.
Love going here. Always fairly priced and always quick service. Also if you hang out there they have wifi, and a nice lounge to sit in. I feel like I always get a good price with out any of the Hassel when going to a dealership.
I done had some issues with Bob Sumerel AAA in Newport Kentucky they fix my Cadillac converters a while ago then I had to turn around and bring it right back for the same thing they said they fixed it then it went out again now they have my car since June 2nd and it still not fixed. They had supposed to fix my O2 sensor and its still not fixed my car was not going over 40 miles when I bring it to them and its still not going over 40 miles now they trying to say in my Cadillac converters in I dont know what to do can anybody help me I dont have no transportation to work. Very disappointed in the service thought they were real good people but I guess not

I had my Chrysler Pacifica (60k miles) towed here when it broke down while passing through. They claimed that they hooked it up to their computers and told me my transmission was shot. Quoted me about $3,000 and 5-6 days to fix with a used transmission. I thought it sounded fishy and paid a fellow $400 bucks to tow it two hours back to my home. Had a family member hook it up to their computer. Turns out there was actually nothing wrong at all with the transmission. By the way they charged me $60 for thediagnostic
I Purchased 4 tires and road hazards for my tires,after about a year I noticed I had a small leak in one of my tires. I went to one store and called 2 other stores and they said they could not get me in or look at it for 6 days. I told them that this is a safety risk and it was unacceptable I had to wait that long for a small leak he basically told me its not his problem. I would not recommend going here at all for anything. They were also jerks when I bought the tires because I showed up an hour and a half before they closed. This place is a mis manage joke.

Never go to this store unless you want to get bounced around from person to person. There are only two people at the front desk that’s worth anything and I believe there names are lindsay and Katie. If you want to hear about a long story from a guy named Matt about how he living in Germany for several years and watch all of his YouTube videos on his silly acting then that’s your guy but he will not sell you anything because he has no clue what to do witch he has told me 😂 but he has been doing this for 10years with another airline. But he will book you with flights but not through AAA but with a third party website, so what was the pint In me coming in then?? I also believe that steeling from the company?Then there is this lady called Carol who is older and I have booked with her before but now she won’t even give you a second of her time she just ask you what you want and if it’s not wanting a AAA member ship then she looks at this other lady and tells her to take care of me while this other lady is on the phone and helping customers already. I looked at carol and just said I just want one night in a hotel and why can’t you just do it since I have booked with you before. She just looked at me and said I can’t do that anymore. So I guess she just gets paid to sit there and take AAA members now witch is crazy to me since they are always supper busy in here.If you are wanting to talk to the manager which his name is Anthony Stoeber Well good luck with that one! He is hardly in the office and when you call him he will never pick up his phone for you. Don’t even wast your time with a voice mail because he will never get back to you on anything. This guy Is a joke, I have meet him twice and he is a push over who just thinks for him self and pushes his employees to sell nothing but AAA memberships in AAA credit cards! I even witness Matt getting in this lady face and steaming at her when she was just trying to help him with his computer and all Anthony did was sit there.Buttt the on the other hand there are some people in the office that do care and will go out of there way to help you witch is Katie, toni, Terry and Lindsay. I have been coming here for years and I have spent allot of money with AAA but for now on I’ll be taking my money some where els and never coming back her.If you where wanting to book with AAA then I would go in and see one of the 4 people I just listed. They will work day and night to take care of you unlike the others that will push you onto some one els because they don’t care or are just to lazy to do anything about it.
Ive used their currency service as an AAA member, and its one of the fastest ways to get ready for foreign travel. Both times at the Newport location, I received my money in 2 days, and at a far better exchange rate than the airports and some local banks.

After extensive shopping for tires and the best place to install them, I called Bob Sumerel. I got a lot of good info on the tire I was hoping to get, and a quote. After getting a few more quotes around town, I called Bob Sumerel back to see if they would be able to come down on price at all (there was a $200 difference between them and Walmart/Costco). Ultimately I really wanted to go with these guys as theyre a real tire shop, but $200 is a lot more to spend and I wanted to know what I was getting for that kind of money (vs. Walmart, etc.). Aside from the obvious pitch that they have higher quality service, which I totally buy, Paul told me that the tires sent to Walmart are lower quality, factory seconds. I found this to be a pretty big claim, so I called the tire manufacturer.The manufacturer told me that this is in no way true- that it sounds like a local tire shop is trying to get my money. The only real difference between a tire shop and Walmart is that its a bit trickier to utilize the tire warranties at those big store- it just takes more time.I called Bob Sumerel back and spoke with Jeremy. I got the same argument from him. I told him that ultimately I trusted the manufacturers word on the issue more than a tire shop trying to get my business. Then the conversation went severely downhill.Customer service and integrity seemed to go out the window. I was made to feel like that idiot who asks too many questions and takes up too much time. I was interrupted and talked over numerous times. I was pressured multiple times to just move forward and buy some tires (at Bob Sumerel, of course). And on and on...I had high hopes for this shop. But I got off the phone feeling more like they had tried to reach in my pocket and grab some cash than help me keep my family safe out on the road.

Very bad experience. They quoted $3000 estimated repair (that was including a 10% discount), so we took the car elsewhere, only a $500 repair total. Also, they wouldnt let us tow the car away without a $60 diagnostic fee.

I had my vehicle towed to Bob Sumerel Tire on Carothers Road in Newport by AAA after they diagnosed a bad starter motor. Sumerel called, said the truck was ready. They changed a fuse. The bill was $90 after the AAA discount. They used my spare fuse.
