Margaret (I think she is the owner) was kind, friendly and welcoming! She also was wearing the most fabulous dress made of book fabric. It was iconic and fantastic!Prince Books had a nice selection of best sellers, fiction and non-fiction as well as a cute little childrens book corner. I appreciated the fact that they had beautiful editions of classics and other pretty books. In addition, they had a whole section dedicated to ocean/sea life as well as local history to Norfolk and Virginia.During our visit, there were quite a few people that came in the shop which was fun to see. You can tell its a local bookstore for many frequent visitors who want to support small business.

I have ordered quite a few books here. One book I ordered arrived damaged. They ordered a replacement copy. I chose to purchase that damaged copy and they gave me a 10 percent discount. They went out of their way to be accommodating and make sure I was happy. I really enjoy this bookstore and stopping in the restaurant to eat and read. Its a really fantastic place.

Small but nice selection of childrens books. Didnt get a good look at the rest of the stores collection due to a experience at the attached restaurant ruining my mood.Over all a nice aesthetic and pleasant staff.

Beautiful atmosphere and a decent selection for a small bookstore. My only wish is they carried more books by Terry Pratchett, but thats true of any bookstore. Helpful staff, and delicious coffee.

Lovely little bookshop! Happened across it on my way to town pointe park, but glad I stopped in. Super clean and organized with a great selection of new fiction and quite a bit of nonfiction. A noteworthy selection of books about the region, also.

A smaller book store with a popular cade thats presented in a very neat and organized fashion. The set up makes it very easy to move from genre to genre with so many books as to overwhelm you. The establishment is quite clean however the books are a bit expensive and it doesnt give you the timeless depth that some of the smaller book stores in Portsmouth do. This is much more comparable to Barnes and Nobles.

Great shop with a wide selection of books and a friendly, knowledgeable staff. If they dont have it, theyll order it for you. Nice selection of cards as well.During my most recent visit, I witnessed the polite (yet firm) handling of an customer who was unwilling to keep their mask on. Kudos for a job well done.

Nice selection of books and very neat. However the prices were a little over the top. I was visiting from out of state and the employee was very antsy with my 14 year old brother reading a book that he already has and has already read before, to occupy himself while I was browsing to find a book. Didn’t feel welcomed at all. Felt more rushed.

In addition to being a quaint bookstore, Prince Books also houses The Lizard Cafe. It is a nice change of pace from larger eateries, and the food was fantastic. The service was exceptional, and its a great alternative for guests of the various hotels in the area.

Cool little neighborhood bookstore. If they dont have it, theyll get it. Neat little sandwich shop and goodies area inside.

Love this bookstore! There’s a kids corner with a ton of new kids books and a little play thing to occupy kiddos while you look around the other sections. The staff is always so kind and helpful too! They have little punch cards as well for the books you’ve purchased. I think it’s a rewards system, but i’m not really sure.

I stopped in randomly while walking by on a whim. The sales staff was really personable and they have an excellent selection of books. Everyone I saw inside seemed to love this place and after visiting I know why. If you visit you will too.

What a gem!!! Wish I had gotten here earlier so l could sit and peruse the books with a cup of hot chocolate. It is a small but well stocked bookstore with very helpful staff.

The Lizard Cafe is a terrific Norfolk gem. Lovely selection of eats on their menu with multifarious aioli options. The man working was very kind and helpful and followed hygiene/PPE protocols during 2020 covid phase 2.

Its a cute indie bookstore. Its well organised and bright and clean. I did not try the attached cafe but Im glad I went in.

Great little shop. Went here to find a coding book and they didnt have one. But I was able to find my two-year-old son a great activity book instead. Shop owner was very sweet, and apologized for the inconvenience although that wasnt necessary! :)

Awesome bookstore! Lots of character, great staff, cafe attached. I found many interesting books for Christmas gifts, plus unusual cards you wont find at Hallmark. My new favorite store!!

Awesome independent book store. Extremely knowledgable and helpful staff. The childrens book section is superb. I go there for substantive gifts for the nieces and nephews. They even have a cafe. They dont have anything worth trying thats vegan so I cant offer a review however. Buy local!

The bookstore shares floorspace with the comfortable Lizard cafe. A good place to find a new author, buy a book and read it over coffee.Downtown, in an upscale area next to the Mariott and the U.S. Customs building. A short 3 minute walk from two Norfolk tourist attractions -- USS Wisconsin and the Waterside center.

I was excited to find a small bookstore, but disappointed to find it apparently caters to liberals. Poor selection of memoirs and biographies- I was unable to find anything written by contemporary conservatives. Only books I could find mentioning President Trump were authored by liberals. Such a disappointment!

Maybe Im spoiled because the last few places Ive lived had the most fabulous independent bookstores, but this place is just mediocre for me. The selection is minimal and it seemed dreary. Im a huge advocate of independents but this one is lacking compared to what Im used to.
