Staff was helpful but made me feel uncomfortable. I dont know if they have a lot of shoplifters or what but covered in dirt and grease and frustrated never goes well with people staring at you. Just because of the way the staff made me feel I will try other stores first.

Daniel helped us today! He was a great person, and a great employee!We needed help with a home project and he gave us three options, at three prices and explained the differences in detail. We even asked him a couple of really dumb questions but he was professional and patient the whole time.Somehow during this trip, my car died. We told Daniel that we could have a relative come and jump us, but he hopped in his vehicle and jumped our car himself!Like I said, a top notch employee and just a great human being!I have no doubt that if you go to this ACE, you’ll be treated like family. Thank guys!

Love all ace hardwares. Prices are a bit high but they always seem to have what your looking for. Unlike the big box stores. Keep up the good work.

People working there are very helpful. The prices on tools are steep IMO. I only go there now for items I can’t find at Home Depot. Also no military discount

July 2021 - Generous employee to customer ratio. Easy to find someone who can locate that certain gizmo that will fit your thingy. And they have just about everything. Five stars.

This store has everything you need; its a hardware store & more. Great brands, good merchandising, plenty of staff on hand. I just wish the had longer hours. Why close at 5:30?

Happy to take your $ when purchasing something however heaven forbid you return an item because you bought too many. I was questioned by the cashier rudely (it was one roll of contact paper) who then needed approval from housewares (why?)..who then also quizzed me as if returning an item was an offence. Never felt so much like I was doing something wrong. Please note that your receipts clearly state returns are a possibility. Sadly OH Ace has lost my business.

First time Ive gone to the Oak Harbor Ace (Im used to the Freeland one). I was there right before closing, so I didnt get to look around as much as I would have liked. It looked like they had great selection and a lot of different things than in Freeland (especially in regards to things made by local businesses). I definitely want to go back the next chance I get so I can browse a bit more.

Great knowledge base. They have a lot of out of the ordinary parts required for the fix it types.

Great people very helpful they do their very best to help people who are in need and what theyre looking for and what theyre not looking for and they may have a better answer than what you were looking for and then maybe not but I have always found Ace hardware to be very very very helpful and finding with what I need

Went in had some keys made asked the price of some cute keys. Lady said 3.99 each. Had 4 made, bought other items not on sale. My balance came to $64. Had a Ace ($10. off of $50.00 card) of coarse found out it didnt apply to keys being made.. Then look at my receipt my keys were not $3.99 each. But $4.99 and $5.99 each had 4 made. They gave me a lady named Colleen she went and looked at the keys prices. And stated it says $5.99 and $4.99 here!.. I had asked the young girl the prices before we started. She said $3.99 so I didnt look for a price on anything just had the keys made. They offered to refund them.. Im like why would you do that when they are already made.(maybe refund them down to the$3.99 price the girl told me.) Instead I left disappointed! Dont care to return there.. Colleens customer service has a lot to be improved on!

If you ever need an item and you want expert advice you have to go to Ace. These folks know their stuff. Honestly, if they dont know it then it either doesnt exist or they can figure a way to make it! Whenever I need to fix anything around the house this is my go too store.

Visited to buy bird seed on sale. I had an Ace Club coupon for $5 off a $20 purchase but could not use it for on sale items. So, I didnt buy the bird seed at Ace. I went to another store on Hwy 20 and bought it there.

Coming from Montana.... I had a very positive impression of Ace hardware stores! They have been known for excellent customer service.... we’ve even joked about too many employees asking if they can help! Not here!!! Not only is it difficult to find help.... don’t dare ask to have the restroom unlocked!??? It’s a Lot of trouble for the ace employees.... evidently! We do live on an island.... but I will do my best to take my polite business elsewhere.

Small town store that I like to support with a great staff that is very helpful but like so many smaller stores the prices are good but its hard to compete with the bigger box store prices. Have a great variety to choose from. I will keep helping our smaller stores as much as possible but like everyone I have a budget to maintain.

The ACE Cashier mischarged me. She rung up 4 woolen hats when I had only 3 hats. I didnt realize her mistake until I returned home. Next time, I will pay better attention to what items are being rung up.

They always have the obscure item I need, or something that will work. And, you only have to get what you need or want, not a large prepackaged unrealistic amount like you do at Lowes or Home Depot. Ask for help if you dont see what you need right off; the staff are very helpful & extremely knowledgeable; theyll either direct you to it, find it for you, or come up with another solution.

Staff friendly and helpful, they used to string/tune compound bows but their bow vibe broke and still hasnt been repaired.

Oooooooooh this place is so unique. They have some of the cutest things in there. I could spend a lot of time looking around at all the novelty items. If youre lucky enough to be in Oak Harbor stop in and check it out.

They have the random hardware stuff that home depot doesnt carry, the staff seems knowledgeable, but the prices are on the high side. Still better than having to drive off the island.

Family feel, helpful staff and a good range of product for all house and garden projects, and including lots of locally sourced goods and a comprehensive Stihl center.

Yesterday, I was treated very rudely on the phone, not sure the ladies name. All I wanted was some soil and veggie starts, the lady was not even sure if they had any, and huffed and puffed the whole time I tried to place an order for curbside pick up. I eventually just hung up because I felt like I was being treated so rudely.This is the second time at this store I have been treated like this. The other time was a when I returned a rug doctor and they made me wipe it down as I was checking out even though I cleaned it out when I had returned it. I also had two little kids with me and a line of customers behind me. I felt so uncomfortable. I would not recommend shopping here.

Great home town place that carries unique harder to find items

I love home town hardware stores and this one is no exception. When I first moved to O.H. I would go in this store and would feel out of place and didnt know why. But after a few months I figured it out, that wanted to help me and I just kept saying I was good. The team at this store is on top of it and they all do their part. You will be approached and offered service and I say let them help you because who knows their store better than them. Im a contractor and I love going to a true hardware store that isnt trying to sell me a refrigerator and a line of credit. Just the things you need from good nice folks. Oh yeah their Stihl service department is the best around. I once hit every authorized dealer from Bellingham to oak harbor looking for an m10 bolt for a Stihl hedger attachment. It is the standard bolt for any piece of Stihl gas powered equipment since for ever. Every shop told me that it was a specialty bolt they had to order or that they didnt know what bolt I was looking for and I had to call a rep for assistance. The guys down here not only knew what I was talking about but just threw one at me no cost and Ill tell you what I have never had any of my Stihl equipment serviced anywhere else since. Its the little things that matter and these guys get it right more times than not. Thanks guys keep up the great work!

The Firearm department is great. Its well stocked, the staff is knowledgeable, and the staff is personable. The FFL fee is a bit outrageous, but it could be worse.

Wow, I cant recall a time that I have had better customer service than today at Ace Hardware. Brian spent 30+ minutes not only assisting me in the store to find screws for my new license plates and other things on my shopping list, but also went the extra mile to answer my questions and ensure that my plates were installed properly before I left the parking lot. The team members are professional, knowledgeable, and most importantly, they care. Thanks Ace for making me a loyal customer today.

Great place to shop for hard to find stuff sporting gear, home fix up help. The workers are helpful and have training in paint, plumbing and such. And they are Eger to help unlike other improvement stores.

I was harassed by a threatening big guy employee who sought to intimidate me only because of what he believes I voted for and it was not the first time. In grade school he would be called a bully, as an adult hes an arrogant and disrespectful. We can all vote for whoever/whatever we want-PERIOD. Shame on you. Never again and stay away from me.

We always get our shell fishing license here, and they are always quick and helpful. The are also a great place to buy gifts without leaving the island.
