Stay away from them.I called twice + email and they give me MSRP, and say they are able to give me some discount if I visit their store.I called twice about the availability of the car. And there will be no market up.Then I drove about 1 hour from the South Bay Area and then guess what:1. The car is not available. First come first serve, and you can’t order it2. All car has market up, for a 30k cross trek, the market up is 10k+Don’t be cheated by their website and sweet phone specialists and don’t trust any promise of them.

I knew what I wanted and was determined to find it at a fair and competitive price. Terrible sales department. Didnt have any of the sticker prices shown, super shady. Extremely rude and pushy will yell at you if you question any of the extra prices they try to add on. Dont shop with them AT ALL

Richard Polk is your guy! He was knowledgeable, helpful and easy going. He wasnt pushy at all. Our first time to this dealership and we have zero complaints. Its not your typical car lot. There arent many cars to see directly on the lot near the dealership entrance. Just a handful. We test drove a 2021 outback but we didnt want the color. We drove to another location where the cars are kept and we were able to find the color we did want. We drove back to the dealership and made a deal. It was quick and painless. Joshua Sirof in finance was awesome too. This was the easiest car dealership transaction ever; from beginning to end. Do Not Go Here!! They draw you to the dealership by saying they have certain cars in stock and they when you show up they tell you the cars are not physically there but in transit. Extremely unprofessional. They have very low inventory. We drove over an hour to buy a car there after “confirming” the cars were on the property. Plenty of other Subaru dealerships in the Bay Area to go to and have a better experience.
The person helping me was really nice but they required social for a credit check before the test drive and then after the test drive they wanted to do 10k down + trade in worth around 5-7k and 559 a month for 72 months for a 20k listed car. The math was that the car was 20k listed + tax + tracker was 1.5k + ceramic protection for 2k. Making it about 27k with that + warranties So total worth of the car then I would have payed with financing is 559*72 months = 40,248 dollars + down 10,000 + trade 5000 equaling 55k for a used car????? I was so confused when I heard that and restated that to the sales person. They were then willing to go down after me saying that to 2k down + trade valued at 7k + 300 a month for 60 month. That then makes it 18k worth financed with 9k down/trade equaling 27k. So they started at 55k then dropped to 27k something didnt add up so I didnt go with the deal. The windshield was also cracked and they said they would fix it due to the part wasnt in stock at the time. Me doing 559 a month with 0 down i could get a new bmw 330E listed at 50k with 10k down no trade in with 586 a month for 72 month like wow.Overall I feel like they were attempting to rip me off even after the lowest they would go It seems still like a rip off for a car worth 19k listed at 20k then paying 27k after just getting a car +GPS i understand interest but 25k of interest is a little wired on a 72 month term.I was skeptical of the 3.6 rating and after this I understand why there are so many 1 stars. Buyer be aware never do a deal same day do you research and think about the number before saying yes.

My wife and I recently purchased a Subaru Ascent from Downtown Subaru of Oakland. The salesmen was great, but everything else is garbage.We purchased our Ascent 2 months ago and this dealership has some weird deal with Lojack where they are installed in every vehicle despite the cars coming pre-loaded with STARLINK which can recover the car if stolen.Anyway, the lojack system (which I dont need or want) was never activated. I called Lojack and DTSO (Downtown Subaru of Oakland) to help resolve the issue. Lojack said its on DTSOs end. So, I have called DTSO 100s of times and have maybe spoke to 3 people and all said someone one name Jr would call me (he never did) not sure he actually exists. I also spoke with their customer concierge after calling here 20 times in a row. She was very nice, but thats about it. She has not called me back, does not respond to email, nor does she answer her phone.We are now 2 months in and still have not had the device activated and have requested a refund and the device to be removed, but they still have not called me back or helped in any way.I would highly recommend going to a different dealership if you are to purchase a Subaru or Toyota. It feels that once you drive off the lot they could careless about you or the car.

He made me feel really comfortable, answered questions thoroughly until he was sure I understood, laughed at my jokes and made what could have easily been a nerve-racking decision very easy and was just all-around friendly and cool to spend time with.

What a terrible experience at this dealership! Marlon sent me a great deal on a Subaru Outback and confirmed it over email. I made an appointment for the next afternoon (Saturday). I took an $80 Lyft from the South Bay to Oakland, during which a guy named Austin called to ask if I was on my way. When I arrived, I checked in with the very sweet receptionist, and waited. And waited.About 20 minutes, I talked to the receptionist again and found out that I had been blown off because the manager pulled my salesperson to help another customer. (Im not sure of the brand, but I think the logo was Mercedes, and it had the word TURBO on the back.)Several hours and $160 later (roundtrip Lyfts), I still had no car. Then I discovered that the car theyd offered me was no longer in stock on their website!Dont go out of your way to get a car from Downtown Subaru and if you must, dont go on a Saturday (it was busy!)
Visited them last week and got a new Forester, but had to wait to see my Grandson so he could help me do this review for my salesman because I had no idea! We were scammed by Downtown Subaru. While we did have a great experience purchasing our car from Richard, the experience since then had been downright awful.When purchasing our Subaru, we were told that we *had* to pay extra for LoJack, a car theft prevention software. We were able to negotiate off other add-ons to the purchase price, but not the LoJack. Subaru assured us this was for our own safety.After the LoJack was installed, we waited to receive an activation PIN via email. When we hadn’t received the PIN after a few days, we called LoJack who were very helpful. They were able to look up the serial number of the software installed in our car and let us know that the item had not been marked as “sold” in Downtown Subaru’s sales system, and that this must have been a mistake and would be easy to fix with a call to Subaru. This is where the scam — and our nightmare — began.Since LoJack let us know of the issue nearly 2 months ago, we have called and emailed Downtown Subaru dozens of times. Each time we call, we are either put on hold and then hung up on or told that we’ll be called back by a manager named Junior, whom we’ve never heard from. We’ve asked to have the software uninstalled, but have been told that this isn’t possible, although we’ve never been told why. We also had a ”concierge” named Melissa reach out to us via email shortly after our purchase. When we notified her of the LoJack issue, she told us that several buyers were experiencing the same thing and it would be resolved in the following 7-10 days. That was about 6 weeks ago, and Melissa also no longer responds to our calls or emails.At this point, we have paid for a service that we are not receiving and are extremely frustrated and disappointed with the service experience. Downtown Subaru scammed us out of money by promising a service they are not delivering. I would NOT recommend buying a car from this dealership.——————We had a great experience buying a 2021 Subaru Ascent from Richard. Hes super personable, incredibly knowledgeable, and took the time to answer all our questions as first-time buyers. Walked in an hour and a half before they close on this Fathers Day to look at the STis. Being Fathers Day, everyone were ready to head home early. Ellie was very friendly and sincere to help. I took a good hour and a half looking through this black one and a blue one that has the Recaro seats... I couldnt make up my mind and was about to just give up and leave. However, the sales manager, I believe his name is Nick, was willing to work with me for a bit more, and we closed the deal at the spot.It took some time to get the paperwork done and Abdul, the finance manager also worked with me on the maintenance, LoJack and Gap coverage in which are useful to me. The proccess was speedy and smooth. Again, today is Fathers Day. The guys at the dealership stayed for me to get done with the paperwork which lasted for a good 40mins, and Ellie pulled on the temp plate and sent me off with a friendly send-off. Excellent service! Guys at Oakland Subaru really would do what they can to make you purchase possible. This is not my first new car purchase but this is one of my top 5 experiences! Skip the other Subaru dealerships and come see Ellie! The chain of management will ensure you that they offer the best deal and service around the Bay Area!!! They also sell Toyotas too!!!
Came in with a True Car price only to find out they added extra features like Lojack and Invisishield, etc, to add an additional $4500 to the car. They also lied about my brothers credit score, told him it was a 710 and he wouldnt qualify for Subaru financing and it was actually 810. Very scammy dealership, only go here if youre willing to haggle and be aggressive with the salesmen, because they will be aggressive with you.

I had not got a car in over 10 years and I was scared to go out because of Covid but my car was about to die forever this time and I had no other choices. This dealership is safe and clean and was was most impressed by this to start. We got a nice man to work with and he answered all of my questions and made us feel no pressure. His name was Derick and he understood we needed time to think about all of the financials of cash or to make a loan. We left and came back next day and now we have a nice used impreza that will be good now for another 10 years we hope! Derick is a good salesman and we much enjoyed working with him. Terrible experience. I was looking to buy a Subaru and wanted to test drive the vehicle before I committed. After making an appointment and going in, the employee was hostile and kept saying he was bending over backwards to call in favors which did not make sense because i have a high paying job, a perfect credit score and I was going to pay I significant portion up front so everything should have been fine. When it came time to test drive, he basically said I couldn’t because we weren’t committed to paying for it and “someone else was interested”. Overall terrible customer service and disappointed that Subaru’s experience wasn’t better. I will definitely not be recommending this dealership.

I give him 5 stars.Update after final purchase happened: there was only one room for improvement Id mention about my experience with Richard. I wish Richard would have told me about the dealer upcharges the first day I talked with him instead of him quoting the lower MSRP sticker price, then the second day I came, it wasnt until right before the finance portion of deal, he told me about upcharges. I wouldnt have thought less of buying the vehicle knowing it cost more and that was standard, but having been quoted a cheaper price all along, it was a disappointment to learn in fact its like $5k more when I was on the verge of buying. I havent bought a car in so long so didnt know it was standard practice. That was the first bad upcharge experience.Side and separate from Richard, I did have a Not so Pleasant portion of the entire transaction. My experience getting quotes on interest rates and options was really painful. It wasnt Richard but rather the finance team where there was a clear lack of transparency. I qualified at a Tier 1 level, the highest I was told much later, and one finance guy quoted a lower rate I qualified for 0.9%. But then when it came to sign contract, a different finance guy said my rate actually is higher, 2.7% and there is nothing he can do about it. It did feel like some Bait and Switch at the end with that team. Then all the sales pitch on extra warranties, maintenance plans and gap insurance, it got very upchargy at the end. The guy was really funny and friendly, but I was acutely aware he makes commissions and so skeptical of his authenticity. Supposedly I was a Tier 1 credit level which would qualify for the 0% sales event they were having. But then one finance guy said the 0% interest rate only applied to 48 months, not 60 months. But the website lists 60 months so I question his integrity. I was trying to get them to show me print outs of 3 different options and the credit score I got. 60 months, 72 and 84 along with different interest rates....a simple straightforward ask.....and instead of just doing that, they kept trying to find out what monthly payment I would be happy with and presented me hand written chicken scratch monthly payment amounts and months of term, thats it. And showed me piece meal, not showing all options I requested. I didnt find out till the last finance guy that in fact I was Tier 1 which makes it all the even more weird how it went down. Again thank God Richard had set up the whole experience as fun, enjoyable, knowledgeable on the car side. But the transition to financing team was very uncomfortable and left bad taste in my mouth. The finance mgrs I talked with were friendly too, so it wasnt all bad or I would have left. It was just frustrating cuz it seemed so simple to just present me with all 3 options and because of how they acted, in retrospect, I felt taken advantage of to be honest. Like they were trying to get one over on me to make their commission. Again Richard was not at all like that. Someone give him a raise. And train your finance team to have more transparency and not try to act like a wolf in sheeps clothing.I do love my Subaru!!!

Really bad service experience here. Took the car in for a oil the said we also needed a belt changed, do we paid them to do that. Then the next time we drive the car there was a horrible noise and we checked and the belt they had just changed was ripped in half and half of it was hitting the car every rotation. We called them but the service center was close so the dealership told us to have it towed there and that we would be reimbursed for the towing. There also were junk pieces of foam left under the hood of the car from when they replaced the belt.When we went in to talk to them about the belt and the junk they were pretty reluctant to say that they had done anything wrong and they wouldnt reimburse us for the towing, they just wanted give us a free oil change instead. Eventually we convinced them to reimburse our cost for having our car insurance tow us, but then after saying they would do it they never did. We ended up calling subaru USA and complaining and they did reimburse us for the towing eventually.We will never go back to this location.
Went in to just look at new WRXs and ended up buying one! My salesman was Will Snow. He was personable, professional and fast. He was able to get an extremely high trade in amount for my old car. We took a test drive and a few hours later I was driving home in my brand new WRX.

After signing all the document, Ellie also took her time to go through all the features in the car until I felt more familiar with all the upgrades! I love my new car!

Good morning the other day I was downtown just walking around and I was passing by the Subaru dealership this young man named Richard asked me if I needed any help. I told him I dont have time so maybe another day I turned around and came back a week later because of the way he approached me with such professionalism. he was so nice I decided to come back and I ended up purchasing a car.I just wanted to say it was a pleasure to meet him and Im glad that he was the gentleman that was able to put me in my new car and I love my new car thank you.

I was greeted by Ellie in sales who was very knowledgeable which made me feel very comfortable. We had a great experience buying a car from Derick! He was very knowledgeable, kind, and not pushy at all. If you are looking to buy a car, you should 100% ask for Derick. He even was willing to work with us to get the price we wanted.One thing to note, this dealership tacks on some other fees and extras such as etching, Lo Jack Ani-theft security, etc. This brought our total back up to list price, but it didnt seem possible to negotiate these off the deal. We really wanted the car they had in stock and its hard to find (an Impreza Limited) so we decided to move forward despite the fees.However, I will say that working with Derick was worth the premium Downtown Subaru adds to the list price. We really appreciated the excellent customer service he provided. There was a mishap and one of our keys was lost by the dealership, but he tracked it down and stayed in good communication until it was resolved.

I came here and wanted to look at the interior of a Subaru Outback Limited. I was initially greeted by a Salesman named Shiloh. He was courteous and attentive. He expressed to me I would be able to look at any car in the lot. Once I reached the car lot, we found the specific vehicle I was looking for and shiloh was more than willing to take the extra time to answer my questions.
Had a horrible experience with Subaru of Oakland. I was there yesterday evening to check out a BRZ and unfortunately bumped into this gentleman (sales rep with long grey hair).He was rude right from the time I stepped in. Since he was in no mood to show me the actual the car, I asked about the mileage. He responded in a condescending tone & wasnt even willing to share the actual mileage. He wanted all my information (name, current and past addresses, employment info, email, drivers license etc) even before discussing price. When my wife asked him if we could talk pricing before providing this information, he curtly responded that this was his process, which made no sense to us. On pricing, he quoted me $40,000 for a BRZ with a sticker price of $31,000. He looked visibly surprised and disgruntled when I brought up that they are advertising the vehicle for below sticker on their own website. He was rude with my wife and at that moment we simply walked out.Today morning, I picked up the BRZ from Subaru of Colma, who gave me a better deal and I had a fabulous experience with them.We tried calling Oaklands sales manager, not to complain but to just let them know that they are losing customers like me beacuse of this. Left 2 voice messages, but they havent responded yet.Stay clear of Subaru of Oakland as there are other dealerships in the Bay Area, who know how to treat their customers.

I stopped in to look at a certified used car and three hours later I was driving out with a new Crosstrek that they gave me a killer deal on. Ask for Shiloh once you get there, fastest car buying experience I have ever experienced. Staff is very helpful and environment is relaxed and pleasant.
Bad experience. Came down to test drive a Subaru, and after giving me the run around and making me sign a bunch of paper work and not being able to match another dealers price (for a bunch of reasons that didnt make sense) I was told that the car I came to test drive was currently being driven by someone else (although I had made an appointment so not sure what happened there). I went to Albany Subaru right away where I was not only able to test drive a car without having to sign anything, but they were able to match another dealers price, so I ended up buying a car from them (Albany).
Just ask for Richard. Seriously. Im not the type to leave lots of business reviews but this one is well deserved. By far, BY FAR, the best and easiest experience Ive ever had at a car dealership, and Ive purchased several new Subarus. Richard was super transparent, knowledgable, thoughtful... Just ask fo Richard. Youll have a better day.
