Sides are awful. Dont ever use cinnamon in your potato salad, these are NOT YAMS. Coleslaw is more mayo than cabbage, cut that down. Main meats are dry with NO bark (Why did you do that?) Flavors for main meat are good and textures ARE soft.THANK YOU FOR MAKING ME WANT TO MAKE MY OWN FOOD INSTEAD OF GOING OUT TO EAT.Take some notes please, when you cook your food go 80% to make sure its not dry, store it in a cool place before reheating it so that you keep your Bark. Was not Worth $35.27

These folks make some great chow, you name it they make it hot and delicious the way you want it. Sam the owner is a great guy who is always in a good mood which is not easy these days, the cook is a very pretty Mexican girl who is very nice and I would marry her tomarrow if she would only say yes. Also it is only one block from my cave, I love that part the most after my girl.

The food is always fresh and tasty, staff members hands over great customer service. I really like how neat it is and mood. Highly recommended.

Nice pork ribs had a nice crunchy crust. I had them with the hot sauce which was sweet and spicy but not overly so. The beans were delicious, but not enough of them. Nice fresh tasting potato salad with a hint of mustard and some red potato skin bits mixed in. The usual limp bread, but at least theyre wheat.

Champion Smokehouse and Market was a recommendation from one of my Facebook friends. It is located in the deep heart of East Oakland. The purpose of my visit was to try their barbecue. My husband and I ordered the two way combo dinner of ribs and links. The two sides were baked beans and potato salad. I also ordered a side of coleslaw. The cue and the sides were on point. Our mistake was asking for mild sauce. It was too mild and did not have enough kick. Next time we will order it with medium sauce.There is a lot of heavy traffic on the main thoroughfare of 98th Avenue. If one is across the street from Champion Smokehouse, one can wait for a while before making a left turn to reach their driveway.It is also best to go during the day, as the area could be a bit sketchy in the evening. When one is the hood of 98th & Edes, please be vigilant of the surroundings. Otherwise, the cue is very good and the owner is pleasant and helpful.

Sauce is good and they sell jars of it. Portions of meat are generous. The ribs are good but could be excellent with a good spice rub and longer smoke time at 225 degrees. Links were average. Overall a good plate.

Food is good, and you get a lot for your money. 1 dinner can feed 2, or 3 people.

First, the servers cant read you order from the screen. They read it from your receipt. Now the food. The ribs are dry and overcooked. The links are dry and chewy. No seasoning on the potato salad. Beans are canned pork n beans not baked. The only items that were good was Turkey tails and wheat bread.

I eat in this spot a lot since I work close by. I must say the service is always awesome and they keep the spot neat constantly. Pricing is convenient and they serve big portions.

Good BBQ at this market. I liked the ribs, but the links were rather dry and the tri tip was not my favorite. Turkey tail was a fun addition. Good potato salad! Nice smoky flavor on the meat. Do get the sauce on the side so you can enjoy the smoky flavor.

Yo, this is some amazing barbecue. We found this place while searching Google for good bbq in Oakland on a Monday evening. Our favorite spots are closed on Monday so we ended up at World Champion. This is bodega lunch counter style dining. That means it’s inside a convenience store so you can grab food and a six pack to go. We got pork ribs and tri-tip dinners and did not regret it. The servings were so big we each got two meals out of it. The food was so good that this joint is now in my top 3 Bay Area bbq spots.

I drive all the way from Fremont to get some BBQ from here. Chicken, Beef links, Tri-tip, & pork ribs. Damn they are good.

Its a go-to for all things BBQ related.-Ordered a plate of BBQ pork ribs, potato wedges (6 for $1), fried chicken legs/wings and Red Bull. SO FINGERLICKING GOOD!-The food was perfect to take to the O.Co/Oracle Arena parking lot.Overall, the locals who were there were so sweet and nice and the owner even offered the best route to get to the event using local back roads. A great spot to grab a bite to eat and now, we know a route to avoid traffic when attending Warriors and As games!
