Oakland needs more shops like Donut Savant! Food wise… it’s DELICIOUS. It’s definitely more cronut then doughnut… which is refreshing as the local donut shops are more than good enough for regular donuts. These desserts hit on a creamy note like none other and definitely have that melt in your mouth feeling. I tried them all and wasn’t disappointed - although the chocolate iced one was my least favorite. Vanilla takes the #1 spot.Neighborhood wise, it’s small businesses like this that help gentrify the neighborhood (in a great way) that makes Oaklanders proud and builds on the best thing it has going for it - the food scene.

They know how to balance salt and sweet and also they are great with offering interesting variety. Love the vibe!

Got here at 7:30 am, they had 6 customers already while I was there (3 before and 3 after). This place is hopping. Great customer service. Fresh tasting donut holes and cronuts. Not too sweet. Love the mini sizes and price. At this time, you have to wear a mask and only two parties are allowed at a time.

Variety of donuts in different sizes, and amazing staff. They gave my dog the best time of his life 😀 I particularly love their bite sized donuts and cronuts. I also like the vanilla pastry creat filled donuts there. The cappuccino was just ok.

So I was in San Antonio, TX a few years back and I had a military friend from VA that always wanted to stop by a Krispy Kreme on the weekends. Why??? He told me they didnt have one where he was from and he was hooked! I had to pause and reflect back to a time when there were no Krispy Kreme donut stores around here in the Bay Area. I then remembered how excited I was when they first opened a Dunkin Donuts in Half Moon Bay! I felt bad for being spoiled brat😆Donut Savant is in a new location in Oakland and were previously located in downtown Oakland. It had been years since Ive had their donuts and they are still as delicious as the first time I stepped into their shop!

Great, trendy spot! Friendly workers! Donuts are tasty and small you dont feel guilty about eating two or three or...Cinnamon cronut was tasty after warming it up for like 20 seconds. Im still working though the other selections! Im more of a classic donut shop guy so I dont really know how this stacks up against other *~cool*~ donut shops, but I can say Id for sure come again.Dont come on a weekend before they close, they wont have many donut selections left. Try coming early around when they open. Honestly, not worth a long line but I came back on a Wednesday at 7:30am with only one person in front of me.

These donuts are uniform, beautiful, small, and salty. I usually get the bakers choice. Ive been to this new location a couple times and the customers are always chatting with the donuteers (?) like they are all best buddies.

Sweet and savory treats that satisfy the donut enthusiast. We drove 20 minutes to pick some up and would drive up again without blinking as it was worth it.

The staff is always friendly and upbeat. You haven’t had a real breakfast pastry until you’ve had one from Donut Savant. The Cron’t are to die for!

This is the new donut standard! Prepare for a party in your mouth with these light and fluffy cronuts. Love that they’re not super dense like most other croissant donut hybrids.

Going to a family reunion taking a variety of pastries. Tried the cinnamon one so delicious. 1st time there. Glad I got there early cause there was a long line when I was coming out.

Not your typical boring donut shop. A chic & modern shop. Yummy, mini donuts! Small but tasty treats. By far, my favorite was the jam/jelly filled donut dusted with the white sugar. Second fave was the maple ball and then the one that looked like a tiny cinnamon roll topped with frosting & pecans. Honestly, they were all good. However, its not easy to spot from the street. We drove by it a few times and missed it. Its hidden behind the wall/railing of one of the BART stations entrances. A bit hidden but worth the search.

So glad this place is open again. They make delicious donuts, with a texture that’s hard to find. They’re staff is super nice.

Seriously, the staff there are radiant, I can tell theyre smiling under their COVID masks (the tall man with big hair and eye-catching jewelry is always there and seems to joyfully remember me every time). Its never a mistake to go to Donut Savant. See you there!

Absolutely exquisite flavor and you can tell they put a lot of care into each amazing creation! The nuance of flavor in each bite is stellar, and each donut I had today was so much better than any Ive ever had in chain shops (make no mistake, I love those too! But these are just so fresh and rich Id choose these any day). A little treat frequently costs under a dollar, Id say thats as guilt free as it comes. So excited to go back already :)

Very very good, but limited hours and perhaps not quite worth the war it takes to get it on many days.It’s very good stuff but it’s hard to justify the hassle sometimes. There are better artisan donuts in places in the Midwest like Chicago and Milwaukee but in the Bay this is likely the best offering.Very very good stuff just not a full on classic for me

Donut Savant is an absolute treasure of Oakland. All of the donuts are fantastic (the Bernie, the apple fritter and the vanilla glazed cake donut are my favorites.) If you see a line, dont fret - its worth the wait.

They recently relocated here from Broadway and I couldnt be more happier since they were closed for a while between locations. Amazingly friendly staff, donuts made to perfection! Be ready to wait in line but my god it is worth it!

New location in East Oakland. Beautiful shop. The line moves a bit slow on a Sunday, but it’s steady and worth it. The cronuts are super. The jelly is evenly applied. Staff is very patient and willing to have a laugh or recommend some excellency. Highly recommend, will return with frequency.

Every donut is amazing, the coffee is great and the service is fantastic!! Only two people allowed inside at a time so there is usually a line outside. Cannot recommend enough the donuts are amazing!!!

A definite must breakfast while you visit Oakland. Cronuts are a great mix between a donut and croissant. Had cinamon sugar, salted maple caramel, O.M.J, and chocolate dust. All were great.

Delicious donuts! They start at $.5 for the mini ones and $2 and above for the bigger ones including donuts as well as cronuts ( apparently a croissant and donut version WHOA!!!).Staff is warm abd friendly and place is cute and fairly small with few seating options inside. They were super nice to let me in eventhough they were closed!Unbeatable location right on 19th street Bart!!!I tried:- 3mini donuts including vanilla, cinammon and chocolate dust- 3 bigger donuts/cronuts including sugar, chocolate frosting and maple caramelMy fav were definitely the chocolate frosting and the maple cronuts. So delicious. Little bit like a donut, little bit like a croissant. Omg! So good without being too sweet or too heavy. Next to Bart station and easy in and out. $5 min on credit card. I got an apple fritter and a chocolate cronut. I thought the apple fritter was pretty good, I generally like them completely crispy throughout but still enjoyed a mix of spongy texture. The chocolate on the cronut flavor wasnt my favorite, next time Ill get a cinnamon cronut instead. I love the portion sizes since I can get 2 instead of one!

This was my 5th visit.I literally kept coming because I REALLY wanted to get a creme Brule donut lmao but I kept missing it or would come on a day they didnt make it... 5th time though I was able to get one.And hated it. It was just like the Bernie and the Boston. Same filling. Its just the hard sugar on top. I guess in my head I thought there would be some creme under the hard sugar but there wasnt.However...the Bernie donut I totally recommend. The omj!?!?! My fricken favorite. The maple cronut?! Get it. Ive had a lot of their donuts and the only one that was a miss was the creme brulee and it could be that i just really hyped it up in my head.Anyway, the staff is ALWAYS really friendly. They always acknowledge my dog and make an attempt at a conversation. Coffee is okay too but that is a hit or miss. 2 out of 3 times I enjoyed it.

Ahhh, Donut Savant. First discovered when I attended the Eat Real Fest held at Jack London Square, in Oakland. Known for their mini sized donuts and oddly shaped ones too, it’s a quaint little shop located in downtown Oakland, sandwiched between stores, you’d never suspect a donut shop to be. But. That’s where Donut Savant is.I’ve only been able to visit a couple of times, their hours aren’t very convenient, and parking in that area can be a royal pain in the rear and requires payment.The shop is small, a few seats in the front, with a few at the other end of the shop, their menu offers hot and cold beverages, friendly staff and of course, donuts!I found the prices for their donuts to be pretty reasonable and affordable for what you get, size, taste, shape, unique flavors.

Super friendly and chill with great baked goods. ESPECIALLY the cronuts.

These are sweet treats, and maybe they use better sourced ingredients or something... Otherwise I dont get it. The donuts here are small and taste weird, the bread is hard, salty and has some sort of fruit taste. They arent very good donuts. I just want a simple maple bar before work. Not likely in downtown Oakland.

They have expanded the selection and have bite sized options. I like to get 3 or 4 dozen mixed for staff meetings and folks can sample multiple flavors without gorging.Order in advance tool is great. I bring my own boxes at least 6 or 7 times, staff giggle.Their building is coming down soon, not sure where they are moving......

Love this place. If Im feeling generous, I would stop by and grab a box of donuts to bring to work. Its right off the 19th Street BART so its convenient. I would often arrive just before they open and there is usually a line. Luckily, they would pack a box of assorted donuts if you cant decide what you want. Its always a big hit at work. They also have simple syrup with vanilla bean for your coffee.

Im a big fan of classic doughnuts but these were unexpectedly delicious! I couldnt even snag a photo before I ate one. The cashier was also very friendly and helpful.

The only time Im disappointed with Donut Savant is when I get there late and the selection is cleaned out, or the parking is non-existent (plan to circle and walk a few blocks), or its Monday and theres a closed sign on the locked door. To their credit, fresh batches are produced all day and into the afternoon, but a morning visit is prime time. The flavor and quality of their chocolate icing needs to be appreciated.
