This has quickly become my favorite local spot for coffee and a snack! There is a good mix of tables, with a play area for little ones (once covid calms back down). The coffee is fantastic, and Im happy to support female-owned small businesses. The Zero-emission coffee roasting is cool as well!

2 stars but because food was really good, its a 3. Ordered the breakfast sandwich - delicious. Service was odd, slow & not warm. Cashier had same type of vibe as person making food. Very weird. Very big open space but not inviting, felt cold & unwelcoming. Maybe it was an off day? Dunno but a lot of the customers were strange too. We waited a long while to get our sandwiches and a longer time for the mocha. Very strange experience. The good was that the food was tasty, fresh and kept my energy level up for a good while which was surprising because sandwiches werent huge. All in all, Ill return if Im not in a rush, had at least 30 minutes to kill, I was in the area, hungry then Id get a breakfast sandwich to go.

I love this place! Open with convenient and friendly window service at the moment. A great place to relax, socialize, and get some work done when the dining room is open. Very kid-friendly if you have little ones.I haven’t had the food yet but have heard great things! I personally like the iced tea and standard coffee drinks. I usually order cold brew, but I find that Hive’s cold brew can have a bit of a musty taste—I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it, I think it may just be a matter of brewing time/temperature or just my own personal tastes!Overall a great place to stop in for a boost!

This is a nice little neighborhood coffee place where you can get decent and elaborate breakfast, and work on your laptop on a Sunday morning. Cozy little spot, the food is more then decent and so is the coffee.If you like fennel sausage, the gravy biscuit is a go.

This place is a fantastic coffee shop that has their own roasted coffee beans that you can order to take home. The menu features all the usual coffee as well as a host of breakfast items and lunchtime favorites. They have a classic breakfast sandwich that comes with egg and cheese or you can add on bacon or ham for only a couple extra dollars. On Sundays they serve a special breakfast sandwich that comes served in a fresh biscuit with thick cut freshly smoked bacon. The servers are wonderful and polite and are navigating the Covid situation wonderfully. I always feel safe when I visit and enjoy getting an Americano with a breakfast sandwich and some take home coffee beans.

This place is absolutely wonderful. Great local spot to grab coffee, tea, and small bites. I love to come for breakfast on the weekends when they serve fresh biscuits (honey butter, gravy and sausage, or rose creme fraiche) yumm. The chai tea is deliciously spiced and I love using the oat milk as an alternative. Atmosphere is inviting, great to socialize with friends or get work done. There is also a small childrens play corner.

The coffee at this shop is superb. You can definitely taste the love and care out in each cup of Joe that is served. Youre not only greeted by a smile by every staff member, but the atmosphere of hustle and bustle really makes you get work done. I had a lot of work to do, and with the mix of a smooth RnB playlist along with the local vibe of entrepreneural grinding going on around me, I was able to finish my work in no time. Please give this place a try, and you will not regret it.

Great coffee!

The woman at the counter was very nice and answered all our questions as it was our first time here. The latte was delicious and we will for sure be back Sunday to try their Sunday special breakfast sandwich it looked delicious. They also take orders over the phone and then you can come pickup.

One of the coolest coffee shops Ive been to. The atmosphere is fantastic and theres a lot of seating with various options... But the place is popular so at some times its full and others theres plenty of space to pick the spot you like best. Theres also outdoor seating and a walk up window. The bathroom is clean as well... And the owners are great people. Its a friendly environment and a unique atmosphere you wont find anywhere else. I highly recommend stopping by and experiencing it for yourself.

Lovely place with great food! The staff are super wonderful; the cashier asked me if I went by the name on my debit card and I told them that I actually go by “Rae”. That may seem like a small gesture, but to me it made my day! It made me feel like someone cared enough to call out the correct name so I would not potentially feel uncomfortable. Great customer service, very thoughtful. Thank you! Keep it up!

The atmosphere here is very chill and relaxing. The food is incredible! Ive also never tasted a better espresso...and Ive tasted thousands. This is obviously due to the fact that they roast their own coffee. Everything here is locally sourced and organic, from the pastries to the art on the walls. And...for the cherry on top...the owners are two of the most amazing, generous, and welcoming people Ive ever come across!

Great local coffee bar. My son and I visit every week. He gets a bakery sweet and I wake up with a cappuccino, which is always well made. The atmosphere is great and the staff is super friendly with my 4 year old. They have fun decor and seating for kids as well.

Cute little locally owned coffee shop with tasty bites (try the avocado toast) and a play corner for kids.It always feels a bit understaffed and disorganized which manifests in things like utensils routinely running out, or only tiny cocktail napkins being offered, or sometimes 20+ minutes wait times for your food, but if you dont mind that, its a charming place.

Hive has great coffee and the food is wonderful but can take a while if you order something hot. My favorite dish is the biscuits and gravy they only serve on weekends. The staff are extremely friendly as well!

The place is a must when in Oakland. Very nice place that’s hidden to those who are just passing by but it was very nice. I recommend the turkey sandwich or the panini. With a chai or a latte to accompany then.

The coffee was disappointment, but the shop was nice and there was a play area for tiny kids. The baked goods looked good, and the vegan oatmeal & raisin cookies were great. Wifi was strong and this was a good place to work. Avoid the drip coffee and go for an espresso drink.

Hole in the wall in a up and coming but not quite there yet area of town that will blow you away. Literally everything Ive ever eaten here is best in class. Their egg sandwich bagels are delicious and homemade, avacado toast is freaking nuts good, and the walnut honey goatcheese toast is actually the most delicious thing Ive ever eaten. Goto breakfast place. Plus they have an adorable little childrens play area for our daughter while we fuel up on food and coffee before a long weekend day. If you dont go here you are actually missing out on life.

My fiance and I come here almost every other weekend it seems (if not more) to have yummy food and get work done. It is one of our favorite places to come. The service is great, the food it amazing, and the drinks are really good too. I have not been disappointed by anything I have had here. My personal favorites are their breakfast sandwich with ham, the honey-mint iced tea, the biscuit with honey and butter, and their lunch sandwiches are all pretty good. Really its everything on their menu! On top of it all, they are locally conscious and doing their best to help the community.

Such a great place! Got two different kinds of honey and a beeswax candle for gifts. Their website is a trip and includes instructions on how to become a beekeeper!

I stop in here often for iced coffee to go, and their breakfast sandwich is really good! It’s also a nice atmosphere to sit down and study or read in, lots of light and open space to find a spot.

Coffee was decent, but the customer service was pretty poor. I stood there for about five minutes waiting for one of three employees to at least say something like, Well be with you in a sec, really any acknowledgment... Instead they all just stared at me and continued their inane conversation about how to re-package bacon pieces, lol. When I finally got someone to take my easy just-coffee order, the dude was pretty short with me and seemed miffed that I had to ask for some half & half (all of the milk containers at the condiment station were empty). I even witnessed a super-nice customer try to cheer up the bitter barista, only to be treated rudely. Do yourself a favor, try someplace else!

A landmark in Rockridge on College Ave. Open everyday until 3 PM. Menu is heavily oriented to breakfast and brunch, although there are many lunch choices. The atmosphere is informal and the service is very good to excellent. The servers can get backed up during heavy hours, however. A big plus is breakfast until 3 PM.

Open airy local coffee spot, with pastries, sandwiches and salads. Really appreciated the eco conscious all biodegradable customer facing materials. Comfy couches, free wifi and a kids play area are nice touches as well. The tea I had was very tasty and hope to return to try something to eat next time, be sure to ask about gluten free menu items (apparently this is something they focus on).

One of my favorite places to grab a solidly good espresso, Hive, the place to bee has been serving up good coffee, good food, and great customer service since 2013.The fact that they now roast their own coffee -- the first coffee shop to adopt Bellwethers ventless coffee roaster -- allows them to roast their own beans (emission free!) to perfection. While supporting a true “bean to cup” experience, you can even “tip the bean producers” directly. How cool is that?And the beans they are roasting make great cups of coffee. I usually go for a latte. Made with SWARM, this medium roast blend makes a truly good espresso drink. If I’m just looking to grab a quick cup of coffee, the full bodied POLLINATOR is the ticket. And did I mention you can buy the beans from them as well?On the food front, I used to be strictly a breakfast sando or biscuits guy. But lately I’ve branched out. The Mediterannian Flat Bread with Poached Egg is a winner. I have to say though, the Goat Cheese Salad has my heart -- mixed greens, seasonal fruit, craisins, and toasted walnuts finished with goat cheese and a raspberry vinaigrette. All organic and all delicious.With plenty of space to snag a table and get some work done, I appreciate that the cafe also accommodates parents with young kids. There is a “zone” where the kids can hang out while the parents get some fortification for the day.Hive, the place to bee, is a place to fall into when you need a solid cup of coffee, some good food, or a place to get some work done during the day.
