I have been using Fruitvale Optometry for several years and through a few different types of (including periods of none at all) vision insurance. I’ve bought frames from them and I’ve brought in frames of my own, they handle both equally well. I’ve moved from bi vocals to progressives under their watch. They even made sure that the lens color was matched on a pair of fashion sun glasses which I had prescription lenses added to. They send text and phone and email reminders which can be persistent, but that’s what I need sometimes, so I appreciate that. They followed up by phone with a refund recently when they later discovered I’d over paid a little on something, due to my having insurance, so I appreciate their fairness. The staff are knowledgeable, patient and kind, and the Doctor always makes me feel comfortable and at ease, I feel like they really care about their customers. I love that they have expanded the store to be double the size, which makes sense given how busy they are. There are a good selection of frames, especially designer/fashion frames. And it’s really no surprise they are so busy - because it’s a great place to get all your glasses needs taken care of.

Very pleasant experience, staff was very attentive and professional. The optometrist explained the eye exam step by step, he also explained the diagnosis and what to expect about my prescription in the future. They have a nice selection of designer and non designer frames at reasonable prices. I will definitely be using their services again.

Just had my exam there and they are very nice. The doctor took a lot of time answering my questions.

They did so good with my 4 year old. very patient and sweet. They made her feel comfortable and she loves her pink glasses. Did i mention the turn around was only 7 days.

I hadnt been to Fruitvale Optometry in 5 years. I went in on Sunday and OMG, the customer service was ON POINT. The staff are so kind, efficient and really made me feel so comfortable. They were always nice but I mean they went OVER & BEYOND to really make me feel like I was at home. The Dr. Is always nice but he engaged me in conversation that made me feel like family. They are THE BEST!

Only thing I hate is having to find parking in this area but that has nothing to do with the service of this optometry! They are so professional and excellent customer service every time I’ve come. I live in Hayward so I make about a 20-25 min drive for my appointments nonetheless they’re incredible. Their selection on glasses is great as well and their prices aren’t bad. Thank you for being a great place :)

Doctor was very clear on how my contact lense prescription was going to be. He took all the necessary tests. Office was very clean. Staff very friendly. I was able to get an appointment right away. I will be returning next year.

Guys and girls working here are quick and extremely nice.Huge selection of frames.No fuss, in-n-out with my examination and new frames.

Very poor Customer Service. I along my friend visited their shop today,The customer service agent was not welcoming at all and she asked us [ only us] for an ID inorder to see around. We were shoked and We politely asked why we,only we are asked for an ID but she even told us not to go far and try. If this is the customer service they give, even One star is too much to give. Very sad and disappointed.Remember, CUSTOMER IS A KING!

I’ve been here twice! The location is very convenient. I wasn’t able to schedule my appointment online but they were very responsive when I called and got me in right away. My exam was quick and I love the selection of frames available. They were also able to break down my insurance coverage and even took my old frames and put new lenses in them.

This is a great office! They have built in precautions for COVID including having patients line up outside, only one to two patients inside the office at a time, everyone is masked and easy accessibility to hand sanitizers. I saw Dr Lu who did a fantastic job with my hard contact fitting and glasses prescription. Prices were also very reasonable. I will definitely return in the future!

My daughters appointment was at 5 pm. I liked that there was plenty of parking. Staff was nice and courteous. Doctor was so nice during and after eye exam.

Staff and Dr are very friendly. He even remembered me from 5 years ago. I love the selection and treatment I get there.

The staff was protective, professional, and patient with the customers as we social distance throughout the entire visit. They were intentional with their cleaning/disinfecting process. And, they were creative in how they serviced those picking up glasses vs those waiting for an exam. Thumbs Up!

Its always a good sign when theyre always busy. Got tired of having fogged up glasses. Got an appointment and was able to have an exam and be prescribed contacts same day. Im new to contacts and they had mine in stock and they provided a great lesson in-house on how to put them on and take them off. They have bilingual staff and take my insurance VSP. I also orded glasses with transition lenses and was able to pick them up in about a week.

Their establishment was very well sanitized. Even with the social distancing of 6 apart. They made you feel comfortable. But most of the staff took their time with my child during the examination.

I have been going to Fruitvale Optometry since 2013, I am not fond of the lady Dr that I saw once when Dr Irani was off. She was not personable nor did she really say anything to me after my exam. This year 2020 when I went, there is a new male staff that seemed a bit impatient and unsure of what he was doing. Other than these two unpleasant experiences in 7 years everyone else especially Omar and the young lady that rings you up (I forgot her name) are excellent. I would recommend Fruitvale Optometry hands down🤓😎

This is the first time I visit this office. They were really nice and I didnt have to wait even though I came 30 mins earlier than my appointment.The girls on the frontdesk were super helpful and the doctor was really friendly. They have COVID precautions, they make you fill in the forms outside and then when youre ready they will measure your temperature and give you gel before coming inside.There were only 2 patients besides me inside the office, so thats good for promoting social distancing.They have a good variety of frames so you can spend a lot of time there trying to choose one.They speak Spanish, so thats a plus.

This is my first time there. They were all so polite and courteous and answered my every question. Upon entering they do temperature checks and give you sanitizer. They dont rush you to chose a frame for your glasses. Due to covid they only allow 3-4 people in at a time. I thought it would take a long time but no it actually went very quick. It has been by far the best optometry i have been to in years.

I’ve been going to this place for the past 5 yrs. I love the staff and the service. Even when they have new staff, they are all nice. You can tell everyone there loves their job. I am happy being in a place were you are welcome and appreciated.

Very pleasant staff. Our visits are no more than an hour and there are 7 of us. I have been to a few different optometrist this is by far the best one.

Really like going to this office whenever i need an eye exam! With COVID going on you have to line up outside, 2 people at a time, everyone has mask on and lots of sanitizer around . They are always friendly and very efficient.The area is so convenient for me right next to Fruitvale bart.They call and text with any info including appointments, yearly exam info etc.

The service was really fast. The employees were so kind and helpful and worked well with me to get a nice pair of glasses for the best price possible! The doctor there was personable and actually held a conversation with me unlike some others who treat you like they’re just trying to get rid of you.

Their selection of eye wear is insane! I got the nicest pair of Oakley glasses from them. I also was able to test out the transition lenses for a few weeks which was SO helpful. Dr. Irani was also super friendly and helpful while getting my prescription. Only thing that is a hassle is the parking, but if taking public transportation, it would be such a breeze. Totally would recommend this optometry!

This has been my second time in here. I love everything here except this last time I called and a guy picked up the phone and he was so impatient. I asked for the prices and he literally was “98.00” i had to reassure for what was the 98.00 since i asked him 2 different questions and he was rude. I made an appt and when i arrived, I wasn’t even on the system. Gladly one of the receptionist (female) took me in ❤️ I forgot to asked her for her name.

I’ve been a patient here for years.I like the services provided,with the changing environment,(coronavirus) you now have to wait outside instead of in the building,you also will get your temperature taken. Customer service is good wait time is good,there is wheelchair access. The office is close to a bart station and various bus stops.

I lost my glasses and called them to get a replacement. They told me it may be 4-6 weeks. When I explained that i had no other alternative, they were able to get them to me in a week. Always exceptional customer service here.

This is a very nice place to go get your glasses. Its clean & the staff are friendly, fast & as efficient as humanly possible. I only wish the space was just a bit bigger. The office is convenient to get to.

Great experience here! I didnt have to wait too long to go back into the exam room, and then I was able to pick out some new glasses. They only took a week to come in!!!

Dr Irani continually demonstrates state of the art technique coupled with an engaging unhurried manner... always takes time to answer questions and concerns in a manner that is easily understandable. Eye exam was fast and reliable!! Very helpful, very thorough Doctor and staff. I have a somewhat complicated contact lens prescription, needing to balance near vision and far vision. The Doctor made a recommendation to try a different brand of lens and I left the office seeing much better.

This place is fantastic for lots of reasons, and let me tell you why -- at least from my experience.I work in Rockridge in Oakland and was referred to Rockridge Optometry, where I made an appointment. The charge for the eye exam was going to be $235 out-of-pocket, since I dont need regular eye care and hence dont have insurance for eye care.After making the appointment, I went online and started searching the best optometrists in Oakland and saw that Fruitvale Optometry was showing up at the top. And Rockridge Optometry -- while up there -- had a number of negative reviews.So, I phoned Fruitvale Optometry -- who were very friendly and helpful at the start. I found out that the charge for an eye exam was $90.WOW. Thats NEARLY ONE THIRD OF THE COST of Rockridge Optometry -- where there were mixed reviews! And people seemed to love Fruitvale Optometry.Given the positive review at Fruitvale, I decided to make an appointment there.From the minute I walked in the door late (because I had some difficulty finding them) they were totally accommodating. The staff was extremely warm and friendly.Omar did my initial tests and rated my old glasses. He was warm and professional, as you would expect in an appointment like this.Dr. Luu did my exam. Again, warm and professional is how Id describe our interaction. Id also describe her as very smart and intelligent. I had lots of questions, as someone who hasnt done a lot of eye exams. She was extremely patient and took the time to enlighten me. She also identified for the first time that my left and right eyes were different. My previous glass prescriptions hadnt recognized that.After the exam, Omar spent a lot of time with me recommending different eyeglass frames that would work for me, even though I told him I wasnt sure I was -- and at that point, I wasnt -- ready to order frames.These folks are awesome. My hope is that more people from Oakland will find their way into Fruitvale to discover what I think is an incredible optometry group.
