I try to support our local hardware store, but since a recent ownership change many item’s prices are missing making it difficult to evaluate and compare similar items. Not having prices often discourages buying an impulse item. I’ve started avoiding this store in favor of another less convenient Ace store. I’ve tried to encourage better pricing practices but for some reason they just don’t seem get the message.

A good local hardware store. Staff is friendly and helpful. I was able to find most of what I needed. They are small, so they don’t have everything. Nice to have a place closer and cleaner than the big store down the hill. Prices are reasonable on most items. Wish the parking lot was a bit bigger. I’m usually waiting 5-10 minutes to get a spot. I’d suggest taking a street spot if it’s available.

Really like the earlier hours at this Ace Hardware. Never issues with parking given that I shop in the mornings. Its a small shop so I dont buy everything here, but comes in clutch when I know they have what I need (mulch, screws, tomato cages).

Laurel Ace Hardware is the best place to find tools, paint, kitchen items, seeds, and the manager is kind and very helpful in helping you find what you need! Extremely cool and helpful staff!!!

I walked in and this lady named Norma told me I can’t enter the store with my bike… In Oakland where nearly half the population has bikes!!!! I then said wheres the sign that states that? She then told me and if it gets stolen, thats on me for not having a bike lock..Thank god security stepped in and offered to watch it…

Plus they closed the garden area between when I asked if I had to bring the bag of soil thru and when I got to the front of the line and that was 20 minutes before they closed. Small store with just enough of your emergency hardware supplies. My go to hardware store for need it now, not picky, just get it before my house blows up stuff, because its close and convenient. And the staff is super friendly, helpful and the key cutter guy is awesome. But also the convenience.

Its located within my community people who work there are courteous and knowledgeable you can also get in and out quickly.

I think that we all know that Ace Hardware is an American icon, as far as the way things are now, you can almost say that at Laurel Ace Hardware they didnt miss a step but I think everyone and everything has been affected, the only thing at this store affected is how long it takes to get through the pay line! And its just a little bit longer not much you see so its not bad at all!! So I do recommend to shop for your home needs at this store.

Great local hardware store. Been shopping here for years. The staff is usually happy to help and offer advice. The store has a decent selection, but they don’t have everything. That’s cause it’s a small space. Don’t expect a warehouse selection, they only have the basic necessities.I’d bump it up to 5 stars if parking was a bit better. It would also be nice if the stock was replenished on a more regular basis. There have been a few times that I’ve been disappointed to find the stock depleted. It happens from time to time and that is understandable.

Good selection of stuff for a small local hardware shop. Convenient parking lot and a very small garden center that could really use a person that keeps it going a bit better, many plants are wilted or dead but also pandemic so maybe its a bit better in normal times? Some of the staff are great, some super arent; you have a 50/ 50 chance. Aisles are packed with stuff but little to no signage makes finding things challenging. When I was there I saw lots of floor staff mostly hanging out and stocking shelves, a long line and 1 person on the register. Went for a weird item that they were supposed to have had 4 of but I found none. Tom graciously order more for delivery in a few days. Again, really good as small neighborhood hardware goes, and always preferable to the big box shops!

Since its a small busy store with few employees Ive walked in & walked back out a couple times because only 1 cashier & a line with 8-10 folks in it. Not bad service when you can get it but sometimes items advertised are not available now or later.

They haven or quite gotten into a smooth groove since the change of owners and renovations. Staff is mostly helpful but often not knowledgeable like old staff was. The flow is not as easy to navigate and online orders have not been easy so I do not use that with them. Hopes for smoother 2021 for them with less operating pains.

Very knowledgeable sales team. Just bought Benjamin Moore paint there and the lady in the paint department was so helpful. When you need to fix something the workers here can usually give you advice on what to buy. The garden center is also very nice.

Well stocked. We went to do car key copies it took us about 1/2 hour- 45 minutes to get it. Apparently the employee kept loosing someones elses keys so we waited for a long time. Theres no parking so you have to park on the street which you have to pay for the parking meters. Fortunately the keys worked.

I have been going to Laurel hardware for so many years is close to my house and they have everything I need as far as fixing my mothers house to getting a lawn mower

Every time Ive come for something they have it, and the one time (they didnt have a mailbox cover) they special ordered it for me.Helpful staff, well organized with both indoor and outdoor supplies.During covid 19 they are practicing social distancing but helping the line moving quickly. Went in for 2 screws for my license plate. Jacob was very nice went out to double check that they fit,screwed them in. I go get in line 2 people in front of me & I couldnt drop the 80¢ & leave. 12mins in line for 2 funky screws..Jacob thank I appreciate your help.but my over all experience was horrible

Ace Hardware store on MacArthur off High Street in Oakland is quite a busy store. It has the best customer service and clerk-cashiers available serving the novice and skilled trade public with their diverse inventory. If you need it, they have it there most likely. Well, I dont mean to oversell Ace, but this ACE is really good. You can get keys made there and it has a free parking lot, also.

Crowded and usually pretty busy, but the staff are helpful and theres often at least some version of whatever you need.

The employees can be helpful. Theyre always busy. I can usually find what I need. The plant section is sad. I wish I could take all the plants home to care for them properly.

I was able to find everything but the furniture stain pens. When I asked the male on the floor he directed me to the paint can stain which id already looked at 3 times and not the pens or id have given a 5 star review (I couldnt locate them) quick in and out service.

Normally the folks are cordial but today the sales staff was very curt and was actually followed me around the store like I was going to steal a broom and bucket. Acted as if it were a bother to answer questions. I felt racially profiled

Ive been going to this hardware store for a few years. The new management changed the layout and its much more efficient now. 9 times out of 10 they have exactly what I need. However, be careful about when you go in, during peak traffic the line at the checkout stand can get pretty long. Of course, this place is a little more expensive than the huge hardware stores, but when you spend money here its going into the local economy. That makes it more than worthwhile!

I felt they were trying to scam me. They basically were accepting my SodaStream bottles and giving me in exchange another brand saying it is the same and of course, telling me that this new bottles are $15 more expensive. They also told me Ace doesn’t work with Soda stream anymore, to try to sell me this new brand!!! Untrue, they might be not working with them anymore but that is not the case for ALL Ace stores. I went Ace Grand Lake and I finally got them.

I love this local store, but since the beginning of the pandemic there has consistently been 15 min lines at check out. Seems they could hire another staff or two.

Today I went to my local Laurel Ace for an even exchange of an item I purchased right before Christmas and it was a spray rust remover exact to be exact anyways I took it home and tried to use it and it wouldnt spray for anything so I was just going to return it for an even exchange of the exact same items they asked me if I had my receipt which the paper copy I didnt have but I do have a nice reward so it was in the system the manager was rude the associates were rude and they turned me away and I did not I was unable to do anything exchanged of the product I believe that they need to get their customer service together there and I will not be patronizing my local Laurel Ace

Could not find a common product that most, if not all, hardware shops would carry. Finally, an employee informed several of us that the product was removed from California due to its environmental toxicity. A sign could have been posted to announce products that been eliminated due the new e environmental laws.

This is my go-to hardware store in the neighborhood. It is small, but does have a lot of merchandise. I would give it a higher rating if the customer service was better. Not enough staff, hard to get help on the aisle if I have a question, and the line is always long and slow when checking out. There is a handy parking lot, but it is hard to get in and out of it.

Well I have been to many ace hardware stores and this one is definitely special. This one was a small one. When we arrived there was no space to park so we drove slowly and by the time we passed 5 parking spots we saw a person leaving so we luckily had a place to park or find a spot on the street. They have a small garden area which was once parking spots and converted into their garden area. I think parking is more important if you have more clients then a garden area. Once in we found our supplies but hard to get help once we needed it. Two people at the register while the other went to the back of the store and disappeared. I dont think they had a restroom because I walked all around and I couldnt ask anyone because they were cashiering everyone. I definitely think this place is more convenient than a great place to stop and get all you house needs. Alot of these companies try to hard to fit everything in such a very small space. Would I come back yes but only if I can park if not I will pass.

I sure miss the old staff. I have stopped going there but I needed something and it wasnt that major so I figured they would have it. Wrong. I needed three packages of chair sliders the ones you put under the chair so that it wont scratch up your floor. They only had one and the person told me what we have is all we have. There was a lady with a young child who was looking for hooks. Of course she couldnt find somebody to help her so I helped her find them. There was an elderly lady looking for the thing you the peephole that you put in your door so she could look out to see who was knocking on her door. I looked and looked but I couldnt find it so I asked somebody and they blatantly told me we dont know if we have them. I felt so sorry for the elderly lady. All she wanted was some help in finding something
