Large inventory and as one would expect it’s a bit of a treasure hunt: everything from tile to tables to tubs. Most items are in fantastic shape or need just a little TLC to get them back up to par. Prices fluctuate so don’t come in with the mindset that this is Salvation Army and everything is priced to move ASAP. There are deals to be had, but you have to look around, that’s also part of the experience.

The store has a great deal of second hand stuff for home improvement/repairs, used but great condition furniture, even some antique potentially collectible items such as porcelain cups or blenders straight from 80s. If you care about environment and into reusing/recycling, plus want to save money, thats a great place to explore.

I’ve been to H4H Re:Stores around the country. This is the worse one that I’ve experienced by far. Not even close. The pricing is unbelievable. I feel like they need new management. Selling often broken and abused items for more than they cost new is not a good look.

To say the pricing in this place is ridiculous is an understatement. Example below, the are trying to sell a single shim for $1. Small example, but shows the general lack of knowledge around pricing.Update After Response: You’ve been writing this same response for 4 years. Just say you’re not going to change your model and move on. We are here to let other like minded folks know what they are getting into before they make the trip…..

If I could leave zero stars I would. The lady inside was so rude. I wasnt greeted, I was scowled at. Then told all the things they dont accept and then lastly asked if there was a spot on my mattress that I was bringing to recycle. I said there was one small spot... NOPE! We wont recycle that I have two previous emails that never stated anything about a spot, when I told this peach of lady that, she said Well someone gave you wrong information...Look I get it, everyone is entitled to have a bad day. But honey, if you dont like your job you dont have to be there! No need to be rude and solutions should be offered. Besides I thought we were recycling the mattress ...not bringing it for them to sell--Thats a donation or repurposing. They really should reword what they are doing and be more clear on what they are accepting. Also, California needs to have a place for people to recycle mattresses. We wonder why there are so many on the side of the road...theres nowhere to take them. Dont even waste your time here.Reply to Habitats comment:Not sure where you guys got blood stain . I told the lady it was where I accidently spilled coffee 10 years ago and it was at the foot of the bed. I appreciate you all reading the comments but if it was a blood stain that is clearly a health hazzard. As soon as I said coffee stain she said it doesnt matter if there is a spot on the mattress we wont recycle it

I go to the Concord, California Restore location. You have a great team there friendly and always willing to help with questions. I am a professional landscaper and recommend this location to contractor to visit this location. I have been going there since you first opened this location. Also home owner and general public would love this store. I highly recommend this store to my friends and clients. If your reading my post please note I rarely recommend businesses. And, a great way to help people who can not afford a home to buy a house. God bless former President Carter who I believe was a big part starting Habitat for Humanity!!

This is a comment to the owners very condescending response to Carol Rosss review 9 months ago:First of all you state that ...Some donations are very inexpensive items... (see below for full quote), which you price accordingly, then you state the following about the high quality items donated: ...Rather than turn these donations down we sell them at a fraction of what they are worth......We receive a wide variety of donations from generous families and businesses in the Bay Area. Some donations are very inexpensive items and materials, which we sell at very affordable prices. Other items, such as the Ethan Allen bed you mentioned, are extremely high-quality, high-value products. Rather than turn these donations down, we sell them at a fraction of what they are worth...This is what I have a hard time understanding: Why on earth would you ever turn these donations down? It makes no sense! These items are DONATIONS which means you dont pay one penny for them! You make money off all DONATIONS, correct? Because some DONATIONS are higher quality than others doesnt justify what you are doing. I thought HHRs were supposed to support the community; just because someone doesnt have deep pockets shouldnt mean they arent entitled to have nice things. Your greed is giving a wonderful organization a very bad reputation! Not to mention discriminating against those who are less fortunate than the generous families who donate to your organization.

I have lived in East Oakland my whole life and I didnt even know this place existed. My son needed to do some community service and this was the closest place I could find. Not only did my son get the hours he needed, I also scored some great deals. I got a desk for only $20 and a nightstand for $5 from their last chance section. Rossy, the cashier, was super nice too. Im definitely coming back for more!

The idea of recycling and reusing construction parts to avoid waste is good BUT their prices are ridiculous high! Most times cost the same at Home Depot NEW!The store next to it is great for furniture. And the St Vincent de Paul store right outside is way better.Again the idea is good and employees nice, but pricing is bad.

On the website it specifically states that they accept adjustable bed bases and foundations at their mattress recycling drop off location. Then when you go to bring one in to recycle they tell you they do not only mattresses and box springs. Wouldve been nice to know before driving all the way out to Oakland for nothing.

Items are priced to high even for brand named item. And no customer service skills from the employees. Take your chance might find something if your look for special piece. To further explain my experience, I found a item that I really like I asked someone how much it was he 45 I was very excited because the box said 95. When i got to the check out a man told me it 150! I was shocked I told him that someone told me it 45 and he said oh no its 150 I told him it didnt even retail for 150 he said that it was new. I told him the box said 95 and he told me he would give it to me at the price. But it wasnt that price.I really wanted this item so I purchased it. When I got home looked up the item and what brand it was 140 online with free shipping not sure if I got a good deal but Iat least i got my item fast.

ReStore has evolved into a high-end salvage store as well as a place to get great deals on brand named tools both new and used. Check it out before you start your next project. I got a $5 transfer shovel and a $1500.00 Ethan Allen sofa in the same day.

Growing up as a kid in the Bay Area my mother and aunts were avid shoppers of second hand stores. At that time you could get good quality items for extremely reasonable prices, which was great for a family with 8 growing kids. My times have changed. What used to be non profit agency’s have become very much for profit. Second hand is no longer for the poor it’s now for the middle and upper middle class which is very clear at the Reuse store in Oakland. There was a bed, headboard and footboard, for 600.00. Why so expensive, I was told because it was Ethan Allen. I was in the other day and two fabric chairs, very pretty, but they were 425.00 each. Apparently to prove their point they went online and found the chairs at Bassett and printed out the retail price one would pay. To print out items that show what you would pay at Bassett, Ethan Allen, Zee Gallery etc. does no good for the community you are supporting because they don’t shop at those stores. But it does trigger something in your upper middle class clientele who says wow what a bargain. I see why people would rather sell or give things away before giving to a “charity”.
