One of the best bookstores I have ever been to! It makes you feel like you’re at your grandma’s house sipping on hot chocolate and reading your favorite book. There’s so much to look at and so many places to curl up and browse. There’s even a coffee bar upstairs! I’d live here if I could.

While visiting friends in the area, they suggested stopping by this quaint little book store. Our boys were all engaged with finding books and toys for their unique ages. Our oldest had to be limited on his selection but still came away with 4 books, two of which were signed by the author. Our middle son, who isnt much of a reader, found a book that suited him perfectly. The youngest had his heart set on a stuffed animal and a magic treehouse book. Not a cheap excursion, but well worth the experience and time spent. If youre in the area, Id highly recommend stopping by as I know we will likely return with enthusiasm.

Sets the standard for bookstores. They have a signed 1st editions club, a podcast, frequent author appearances, NyTimes book review for sale, and a well-chosen selection of new books (if you want used books they have a separate location down the street). A bonus is that it near Faulkners home, Rowena Oak.

Everything you always wished for in a local bookstore. A place to browse and discover new books and authors. Author readings are regularly scheduled and you can often find signed editions. This is an older, historical building with multiple levels available by stairwells. A small cafe is located on the top floor. I especially enjoy their collection of southern authors. Take the time to enjoy the third floor veranda with views overlooking Oxford Square.

Whats not to love? This was originally a drugstore that I worked in as a posting clerk back in the 70s. When I go in there, I can still see in my minds eye where my station was where people would come to either charge on their accounts or pay on their accounts, and I would post accordingly. It was my first real job. And then, of course, there are the books. I have ALWAYS loved books...the look, feel, and smell of them. In fact, I always thought I would one day be an author myself and still hope to be. Every time I visit Square Books I get inspired! They have something for everyone...if not here, then at Off Square Books or Square Books Jr. They can also order any book you might need, if its in print, and have it to you within a couple of days. They also regularly have book signings with authors and have signed copies of books in stock. Square Books is a definite place to put on your list of places to visit if youre ever in Oxford, MS.❤

As good as they come with regards to independent bookstores. They have a great number of signed 1st editions, and a regular influx of authors doing book tour stops.
