Good afternoon, After coming into your store today and hearing that you will be mandating employees to receive the Covid vaccination myself nor my family will shop there again. As a retired medical professional i can tell you that these vaccines have not been properly studied. This is extremely unconstitutional and unjustified. Are you aware of the stoppage of the federal mandate in Texas? I deem this to be very upsetting that after 30 years the local grocery store i have always frequented is doing this. Expect lawsuits and a large customer base drop off. This will not go unnoticed and this is just the start of the campaign against Green Valley. I would love to see a response to this review.
So today shopping in the frozen food section i over heard a young man saying that Green Valley will be mandating the covid shot. I approached the young man and asked about the specifics, his reply was grim and watching him tell his story about his time there i feel i needed to make this known to the public. Green Valley will be issuing the vaccine mandate if he does not comply he will have to pay out of pocket for weekly testing. this is such a stern way of handling business and after 15 years i do not plan to return. I would think that such a growing company would care about individual religious beliefs or at least use common sense.
I enjoy this store. Good finds and pleasant shopping experience.
I know, I know, I should have used my common sense when buying the 4oz fresh lump crab cake from their seafood dept. for $8.49. Very little crab, very little flavor. I will pass on it next time.
I have noticed a downward trend since opening and still return thinking it would improve. I have seen dead flies in the prepared food section and food that is out of date on the shelves. The staff have been friendly but this morning is the last time I will visit this store. My husband and I were there when they were suppose to open and they left us stand outside until 6:10. I realize this happens but the girl who did open was extremely rude and made us feel like we were a inconvenience. Needless to say we left and went to Gersbecks and had a pleasant experience with staff.
Self checkout is the worst. Self checkouts are supposed to be fast and efficient, yet every single time Im in there and use these machines it doesnt weigh the last thing you put in the bag and it says please wait help is on the way and then lights flash and you cant do anything. And its not just me i feel like it happens to all the people around me that are using the machines too. The self checkout machines at Gaint down the road never have this issue.-fix your machines.
This place is great. Super clean and lots of fresh food from the deli department. This place is great. Super clean and lots of fresh food from the deli department.
Be careful ordering meat from here. I am a former restaurant manager who is HACCP certified and I overheard employees discussing the critical temperatures inside of their meat and seafood refrigeration units! 54 degree coolers are nothing more that pathogen breeding units. STAY AWAY!
Very nice place. Very clean. Deli is great wonderful selections. Always fresh food. Shrimp salad is yummy.customer service is very good always friendly and helpful. Good free parking. Try it !!Oh the donuts and bakery are delightful. I highly recommend this grocery store.
Friendly, polite staff. Good selection for the store size. Love to shop local. Great location for me.
Green Valley has always been a go-to store for anything I need. They have a wide selection of things and I especially love Lauers bakery and the local food like old bay products and berger cookies.
The store was well organized, clean, and well stocked. I live in Pennsylvania and was visiting my son . Oh my shopping experience was absolutely wonderful. So much to choose from. Hats off to the entire staff I can’t wait to return !Thank you
Its nice to have a local grocery store with a reasonable selection here in Pasadena. Im happy that they decided to keep the Lauers bakery! Only negative I have about the place is the rancid smell when you first walk in. Sometimes its worse than others, but its definitely off-putting.
Very nice grocery store. Alot of vegetarian and other organic options at mostly affordable prices.
Friendly staff, wide selection of groceries at reasonable prices & online ordering is very helpful to those with busy schedules.
Its always a great place to stop the people that work there are fantastic and very helpful the food is well priced and delicious
...This is a complicated review, so I hope you read the whole thing. If not, summed up: Wonderful store, dont buy their in-store baked goods.I moved to Pasadena recently(last 3 months) and Green Valley is my local grocery store. My girlfriend has lived here her entire life, and recalls it being called Lauers. Her mom had her wedding cake made there, she had been going there for years and very much loved the store. From my perspective, it looks like a nice store. Some of the aisles have some unusual placement(the mayo is located next to the instant mashed potatoes...huh), but otherwise is pretty clean and well organized. The fresh produce section is well kept, and looks great. I also very much like that theres a local products section that highlights some Maryland original foods(Berger Cookies, varieties of old bay products, Fishers popcorn, etc). The first time I felt that I ran into a problem, however, was when I saw a sign for Smith Island Cakes. I had never heard of them(not a Maryland native, sorry!), but my girlfriend absolutely raved about them, and talked at length at how amazing they are!It was extremely dry, and unflavorful. Extremely disappointed(it was almost 40 dollars), I thought it mustve been a fluke, and my girlfriend thought the same.Later, for my sisters birthday, we bought a small cake from green valley. Shes a bit picky, and loathes chocolate cake, so my girlfriend grabbed a cake labelled White cake, with a peel and stick barcode that also read White cake. When we cut into it about an hour after purchasing, it was a chocolate cake. Not a bad chocolate cake, but chocolate cake none-the less.I then bought some chocolate chip cookies. Seemed like something pretty innocuous(how can you mess up a chocolate chip cookie, right?). They werent sweet! It was closer to an oatmeal cookie with zero sugar in it. We were floored, and ended up not eating any more of them. The last baked good I bought from Green Valley(and possibly the last ever) was some corn bread. To sum up, I was going to introduce my girlfriend to an extremely special family recipe of chili, and she suggested getting some corn bread. I ran out of time to properly make some, so I ran to Green Valley to buy some. They had some on sale for 3.99(good price honestly), and it was made in store. I got it, headed home, and we started in. I was wary of the corn bread, so I didnt eat it, but she insisted we have some with the chili. She broke hers up and had it inside the chili, and when we went to eat the chili, she got upset. I asked why, and she claimed the corn bread ruined the chili. Surprised a bit(How can it RUIN a chili?), I went and tried it, and it was so sweet it was closer to yellow cake than it was actual corn bread. I honestly felt I could put icing on the corn bread and have it as a cake.If ownership is reading this. Id love to talk to you further about my experiences. I very much believe everyone has off days(look at some of the reviews, lots of people get mad at small things), but this seems to be a pretty intense pattern. I hope it can be fixed. Is Green Valley poorly managed? Not to my eyes. I think the aisles are well kept, the store is brightly lit, Im greeted warmly and Ive never had a problem with anyone in the store. All the pre-packaged food(and vegetables/meats) weve bought have been excellent and what youre looking for. Ive also NEVER brought this up in person in the store, and definitely will soon. I do, however, want to warn people, as I know that Lauers Bakery was a mainstay in Pasadena, and it feels like something has changed drastically.
Amazing hot and cold food bar. Sushi is fresh and delicious. Specials all the time!
Purchased fresh bagged cherries. The cherries were NOT FRESH at all; very soft and some were even rotten. Also, they were not very flavorful.I should have returned them to the store; but I didnt.$17.25 in the trash can -
The deli/hot food, & bakery is good and fresh and clean. Now compared to some of the other grocery stores in the Pasadena area, the prices are alot high here, as opposed to others. They are clean, good parking, thats about the only plus side about this store.... For real - the prices, for the same items, are alot high 💸💸💸⚖️👋.! It adds up quickly when comparing.
Found what we were looking for. Prices on meats, can goods are outrageous. But friendly store. Green valley was the cheap far
I am a Pescatarian so I just eat seafood no meat. I bought several different fishes in there seafood Dept. I got home and the Haddock smelled like dead fish at the Baltimore Harbor on a hot day. I returned it and told the store manager.I told him they need to train there seafood staff better so they dont sell people bad seafood .He blamed the supplier. I told him thats not a good reason they need to know when its bad and not to sell it, look the texture smell and color. They return my fish and I went home and cooked the Flounder once again this fish was bad I had to throw it away. My next call is to the Health Department before they sell more bad fish to the public and Poisoning someone . I will stick to Wegmans for my seafood at least its fresh and they throw it away when its not!!!! They had day old bread to sell on a Sunday Who dose that??i WILL NOT WAST MY MONEY AT THIS STAORE AGAIN. So sad to see how careless this store is with our health and well being.
Ordered some steamed crabs extra lage and of the dozen I ordered only 3 were extra large the rest was either large or medium
Nice to see a store with fully stocked shelves.
Love shopping here, the people that work here for the most part are nice and friendly. Only thing I think they could improve on is bagging groceries.
They have everything. The donuts are totally awesome! A little high on somethings compared to Food Lion. But, the quality of pre made meals look delicious 😋😋😋!
Love the bakery otherwise, not sure yet.
Good prices for produce which is literally my only criteria to make it to my list of favorite grocery stores. Its also pretty cool how they sell parts of the chicken in 20 lb boxes.
I like Green Valley because its clean and bright. The people who work there are kind and helpful. I also like the layout and can easily find what is on my list and they normally have what I need.
They always have the best looking and inviting ready to go foods on display. I went wild today and enjoyed everything!!! Staff is always very pleasant, courteous and helpful!!!!
I thought it was going to be differnt when Lauers closed but its not. The staff and food are just as great!
This place sells live or steam crabs. The seafood selection is pretty good.
Love that they still have Lauers bakery. Triple chocolate cake is awesome. Bakery is much better than Geresbecks that didnt get Lauers recipes when Lauers sold their stores.
So glad they took over this space. The customer service is really good as is the bakery, the meat counter and seafood counters. It is also very clean all the
In an out fast here love self check out
Store was clean and well stocked
Very clean and easy to find what you need
I placed an order for a platter of chicken wings/tenders for my daughter’s birthday. I ordered the medium platter. When I picked them up I was given the large platter and no tenders were included, in several foil covered tins. We were also charged for the large platter. When we asked about the amount given hot foods blamed the deli. We were in a hurry and just accepted them. They were enjoyed by the guests tho and we froze the rest to eat later. We also ordered a submarine platter. There was an enormous amount of bread compared to meat on the platter and in fact the roll was so large the lid wouldn’t close, leaving it stale and hard. It was pretty disappointing. On Christmas Eve my husband went to pick up a preordered chicken wing platter and he was told that they weren’t cooked and to come back in an hour. When he returned he was told they couldn’t find our order...but then he acted like a hero saying he could have them ready in 20 minutes. My husband waited while they were cooked. Again hot foods blamed the deli..saying “this is an ongoing problem and they need to call a staff meeting.”....the wings were half cooked and the tenders were dry and tasted old.I guess it was our fault for giving them a second chance...My advice, Stop hiring children to do an adult’s job to save money.
They stock sushi, they had a fantastic meat sale, the pastries at Lauers bakery are one of a kind and they do seasonal steamed crab sales. Last weekends grocery run here gave me the best and the most lobster Ive ever eaten in a single meal. Definitely exploring here again.
The meats are great and priced right, got my St. Patricks dinner already and it looks great.
Locally owned, internationally priced!! Just got chance to try this new store. As regular lauers shopper i can say they have overpriced every items. I hope they will check prices tag on neighborhood store safeway before tag prices. For now safeway or giant food is better than this one for price. I will check later if they made any changes.
Store has done a great job during pandemic keeping store stocked, clean and trying to make customers Happy.
Great prices and nice staff!
They had a great selection of prepared foods! Its great if you want a good dinner but dont have time to make it yourself
Pretty terrible, a few months ago I might have given a higher review. Only a few months ago the original owners still had this place. The bakery is a mess, Right now because of the holiday season they have jacked up all of the prices on all of the things, every last baked good in there is overpriced.Theyre charging double than they used to now, Im getting quite sick of it. every time I go in there theres a new change or a new price jack or something. The holiday cookies were priced at anywhere from 11 to $12 for a box. These used to be maybe three to five dollars a box maximum, they think people dont notice but we definitely do and were tired of it.The bakery was one of the only good things I went here for, now theyre not going to see any money from me, in fact just because of the price markup I went to the nearby booth and bought Pillsbury Doughfor a fraction of the price. Theres no point in buying overpriced cookies.
A very good selection of merchandise
Excellent customer service
Great ..Lauer bake goods. Store was beautiful, everything looked fresh. We vacation in this area from Florida to visit family several times a year. This will be a go to place..
Nice smaller local grocery store. No prescriptions though.
The sweets always look so delicious 😋
They have different stuff and thats kinda neat but thier prices are just a little high
Awesome vendors, music, and things. Really cool spot if your ever in md
Always clean and convenient.
Good mix of staples and niche items. Bakery is a staple and the coffee bar is a nice touch.
I came in on a Sunday night 40 minutes before their closing time. As I walk out of my car, 2 customers walk in before me. I get to the door 10 seconds later, and myself as well as two other people were locked out and unable to enter the store. I am very dissatisfied. As I write this review, more people are stopping by and trying to enter as well.
A store trying to be Wegmans but failing. The store is dirty, the parking lot horrendous with bumps and holes, and theyre products are cheap and close to expiration. Generally not a good place to grocery shop.
They have great selection, but pricey.
Most amazing Strawberry 🍓 Shortcake 🍰!
A great grocery shopping experience. The employees are helpful and friendly. The crab pretzels are the best Ive had.
I love this store. It is a one stop grocer. They are branching out more and more and thats good for the community. Great job Green Valley.
Awesome grocery store with great associates. Their bakery is the best in Maryland hands down.
The bakery was great as usual, but the shelves throughout the store were a little bare. The usual seafood dept was empty. I was told later that it was back in the corner. I guess I didnt see it.
Simply the best local grocery store left. Great prepared items and specialties, and prices that meet or beat the chain stores. A lot of folks were worried when Lauers left, but this place took the Lauers model and made it even better.
A bit pricey but good overall.
Nice selection. Great valley bakery and deli. Good prices. Friendly cashiers.
Had to come check out the newly opened store! Customers of Lauers will find the layout nearly identical. Everything looks attractive and well-stocked. Produce looked decent. K-cups can be bought as singles, mix and match, which is kind of cool. Prepared food selection looked nice...quiche, etc would be nice for parties.I gave only 3 stars due to pricing - nearly everything I buy can be found at better prices at Giant or Food Lion, so this wont be my go-to grocery store, but might stop in every now and then to see if theres anything new.
Clean and well stocked. Employees are friendly and helpful. A tad on the pricier side.
Stopped in to check out the store, hoping I would be able to buy groceries there without having to go all the way to Giant. The store was very clean and bright. The produce looked fantastic. Bought a tray of pitbeef which was very FRESH and good. Prices dont seem out of line. I think it depends on what youre shopping for. The meat counter looked very good and very well put together. All the freezer doors were clean. I think theyre going to be a real asset to the community.
Selection is good. Prices fair.
A great store for shopping and bakery
Bakery definitely not what it used to be. Worst yellow cake Ive ever had. The icing all over the cake on the sides slid down and was falling off. Also, the yellow cake itself tasted like I was biting into a salt lick. Just about all I could taste was salt!
Good music clean brite store good cashiers friendly
We love the variety of store made foods and the bakery!
The shrimp salad was the best must try it
Overall I find Green Valley to be a little pricey for my needs. That said the store is very clean. The aisles are wide enough so that you dont run into other people and theyre not clogged with so many displays you cant get through the air. They do frequently have produce sales. I go in and get those. Others can chime in about other sections of the store. I especially love it when the avocados are two for a dollar!😋
No buttcream frosting, all the others were covered, but that dang buttercream was a dang ninja
Pig food sold here
Ridiculous, unorganized, and uninformed staff. Store is in disarray with poor implementation of covid protections leading to frustration and likely exposure as you try to navigate the overcrowded aisles with customer with no regard for their own safety or others. Really a sad situation
Nice supply of local produce and natural products. However, watch the garlic you choose... Its from CHINA!😠
Great place to shop 😊
Associates are so pleasant. My favorite store.
I was really hoping that the prices stayed down but unfortunately they went up. Some thing are a little pricey so Ive went back to Walmart or the dollar store for but overall its not to bad. Its a quick place to run in and out of. I love their bakery though 😍
Green Valley has done an excellent job of keeping their shelves stocked during the pandemic. They do have a good selection of products, much better than their predecessor. Some of their prices are a bit high which is why I took off a star.
Best bakery in the area. Local feel. Friendly, helpful staff.
Probably using box cake now, the macarons I received that theyve recently started putting out are overpriced. $7 for four macarons of inferior quality. I watched the lady take out the box and remove them from the freezer. Theyre extremely soft but not in a good way. macarons are meant to have a crunchy outer shell and the inside is meant to be soft with a buttercream filling, usually. These are terrible, theyre soggy which is sad because the flavor would be all right. Its almost like eating them if they were out of date. The owners need to try real macarons and put something better on the shelf if theyre going to charge whole foods prices for them. Absolutely atrocious, The bakery is becoming more and more manufactured and its really saddening to see.The owner responded, so Ill respond with this. How are you going to charge 13.00 per pound of sugar cookies? Not overpriced? Take a hike.
Has a good selection of hard to find ingredients
Just got off the phone to check the hours tomorrow! 5:45 April 10 th. That girl I spoke to is the most professional person I have ever talked too! She makes you want to come in the store!
Usually I love to come here but today will be my last time coming here. As my boyfriend and I were checking out this worker in a grey sweatshirt and glasses was looking right over our shoulders as we were scanning in self checkout I felt like she was watching me to see if I was stealing. I don’t need to feel like a criminal when I go to a grocery store when I’m doing NOTHING wrong! I liked lauers BETTER! Your coordinator is what made me leave! Guess I’ll be shopping at Safeway...which has better deals!
Prepared food selection was great!
Nice grocery store
A little over priced, but its clean. Great potato salad
They are getting better. They have started to carry organic chicken but their seafood is great. The staff are friendly and helpful. The store is very clean.
Local produce, friendly customer service, cashiers. Clean store, variety of fresh food offerings made in store, wing shop, crab shop coming soon!
Clean, organized and neatly put out produce
Disappointed in bakery. Donuts are as soft and the chocolate melts off by the time you get home. Melts off when not even hot. Please use old recipes.
I stopped by here the other day to see whats changed. It looks almost identical to how it was before. One major plus is that they added a self checkout line line.I dont see much difference in the prices and really I have always gone there for the bakery. I havent seen the same selection of Portuguese rolls; however it may just be the timing of my visits. Ill have to try again.
Big store lots of products.Great place to shop.
Great places to shop, always clean and friendly staff.
