I usually visit this Store (prefer to say Chinese Sea food and Meat store) to buy a fish. I use to get some good amount of fish for good price, but you should know how to differentiate which is fresh or not. I found some variety of fish are so cheap and good (*if you find the fresh one). Just reduced a star (rating 4 Star) because of freshness of the fish, sometimes it might be old.
Great Chinatown neighborhood market. Its a small market so offerings are limited in variety. Fast customer service will have you in and out in no time.
Check the receipt BEFORE leaving...Todays shopping experience here was terrible. The cashier has checked out DOUBLE on sweet rice and TRIPLE on egg yolks. The egg yolks were sold as a bundle of three, because I didnt notice that so I actually took two bags. And she charged me the price of six!Its hard to say she meant to do this. If so, it would be even horrible. Please please please check the receipt BEFORE leaving when shopping here. Dont be in a rush like me.
Great collection of Asian foods. Fresh raw sea-food available.
The cleanest and most well-stocked Asian supermarket in Philadelphia Chinatown. It has all the staples youd find in a Chinese kitchen, and then some. Meat isnt always the freshest, but its not horrible either. Fruit, on the other hand, is often fresh and very well priced! The lower floor where most of the packaged items are stocked is a trove for instant noodles, snacks, sauces/dried ingredients, and frozen foods. Everything is decently priced.Minus one star since this place is always packed. Its often hard to get through the narrow vegetable aisles near the checkout kiosks.
Great variety of food, be sure to chech out the canned foods downstairs too! It can get very busy at certain times so be prepared! The meat and seafood is fresh and large amounts of produce and discounted items outside too!
This establishment, Heng Fa Supermarket at 130 North 10th Street in Philadelphia, has its advantages and disadvantages based on my personal experience after visiting it.Advantages:- Fruit are so cheap, and the quality looks average- So many things packed in a small place.- conveniently located in China townDisadvantages:- parking could be problematic.Would I recommend this place? YesWould I come back in the near future?Yes.
Great selection. Wish they would additionally list the produce in English. Although I recognize most items, its always interesting meeting younger folks to translate.
Love the highly nutritious vegetables I just cant get at my local market
Excellent Asian Food Market! Everything you can find from produce, meats, seafood, snacks etc. Fresh produce I recommend. In the heart of Chinatown, Philadelphia. In Center City (The Downtown). Customer service is great but might need a translator at times. It can get really busy, the line does go fast. No fuss, No mush! It is a must! Shop here!
Excellent fresh fish selection and friendly fish mongers and other staff! Somehow, I forgot to take my bag of a dozen live crabs when I left the store. The cashier ran out of the store to find me and give me my forgotten crabs. Theyve got me as a faithful customer for that!
Awesome! CANT WAIT TO GO BACK TO CHINA TOWN PA😜😜😜😜
Ive been going here since i was a child. I seiously love this place.
During the busy times it can be VERY busy and filled with people. However, they do work quickly so that you dont wait too long in line to pay. They have a selection of pretty much any Asian cuisine ingredient that I have needed and they are affordable.
Very unique, if label not in English good luck asking someone to translate
The food in it is not very fresh. The people at work are very unfriendly. They buy things because they live far away. An uncle gives them some ice and says he will take it himself. Amigo comes to say why you steal ice here. Who the hell is going to take your rubbish? I wont go back there to buy it. Even I wont go to the New Jersey house, The one next door is theirs, and I wont go either. This kind of service attitude is to spend money to find guilt
Very high cost performance. I used to go to target or some Korean market. The price in those place are so much higher. Now I spent less money for more products! Cuz Im a student, thats really a yes for me. Highly recommend for people who need to manage their living expenses on a lower budget.
Consistently delicious and reasonably priced Thai food. Fast, friendly service. Prayers.
Ive been kind of a long time its good place to go to eat a long time I even there when it was opened up thats why I like her place is very clean people words are very nice thats why you go there been going since day one since they opened
This market STINKS AND THE OXTAILS, RIBS, CHICKEN SMELLS LIKE BLEACH FILTHY MARKET
It was very crowded, but the service was still fast and friendly and they have good seafood prices.
We shopped there yesterday, very disappointed. They charged higher prices at checkout for several vegetables, you have to pay attention. When we bought beef brisket and asked for a look, the guy hid the bad part of the meet, only showed good part. We always buy groceries from there even though their environment is not ideal. Now we decided to go to others, rather pay a higher price than being cheated.
They have a great selection of fresh seafood and the green peanuts that have been a tradition in my family. They have proper Covid-19 restrictions in place with an orderly check out process. They accept debit, credit and extremely, which is posted up front for the customers. We need more options with fresh fruit and produce this place has that.
Great selection of frozen foods, treats, and sauces downstairs. Fresh meats and exotic selection of fruits and vegetables. Hidden gem!
This is my favorite grocery store on Phillys Chinatown. They always have what Im looking for in authentic Chinese and korean ingredients, and I can usually find decent alternatives for tough to find Thai ingredients too. A lot of the products here have no English whatsoever on their labels, so dont go in expecting an easy trip without a translation app on your phone, or a precise product in mind. A major tip for this place: it is PACKED all weekend, every weekend. With an open-market environment of meats and produce upstairs, fruit and seasonal merchandise outside, and more packaged goods and non-perishables downstairs, this place has plenty to explore. If you want to take a slow trot around checking out potential new flavors and seeing what they carry, Id find a time on a weekday and enjoy!
Feels very authentic, and they have everything you could want at good prices. Some things are not written in English but it doesnt prevent from finding things
Shop here weekly. Good quality.
Shopping with the entire family is fun!
Low price and comprehensive choices.
I love this little asian mart!
This is a great Chinese and Asian grocery store in Chinatown. I’ve been here a few times and just picked up some tapioca pearls to be able to make homemade bubble tea!
Sorry ! i got mixed up with the other Chinese store, your store is great! is the other store down the street from you, one of the cashier are rude !
Amazing snack, noodle, and frozen food section downstairs. One of my favorite Asian grocery stores
They allowed people in back and in front on the side where ever they were coming in front of me when I was next both cahiers. No never again.
Nice collection of dried food, vegetables and fishes. The stuffs are nice and friendly.
Very good service and I live to get fish from here is always fresh and very good prices..
Found what I needed...very crowded.
You can find lots of sea foods, fish and grocery items. However, it is a busy and crowded place. No parking, no restroom
Great Chinese & Asian Food Market. They have a huge variety of fresh vegetables, meat and seafood. They also have a good selection of snacks and other hard to find things like spices, noodles, dumpling ingredients, etc. Space is a little tight as they have a lot of products and the aisles are not very wide. The store can be very busy and you need to wait in line but it is worth it as you wont find these products anywhere else unless you want to pay twice as much online plus high shipping prices.
The fish market is awesome very fresh and service was quick
I went to this market to find some of the foods I see some of the mukbangers eating and was able to find everything that I was looking for and more. I really enjoyed the selection of exotic fresh fruits and fresh vegetables. The have a fish and seafood section with live fish, crabs and lobsters. They provided great customer service and even got my baby boy smile, say hi and blow them a kiss. Great Chinatown find.
My favorite to go to for grocery shopping in Chinatown area. But its always busy on the weekends and long lines for checking out. Overall very fresh & good selection of produce, meat & seafood. Competitive prices as well.
Good prices. Good selection. Very crowded.
Very tight space but everything is cheap and affordable
Was crowded today, But did not have a good experience. Seems like the cashier is tired but just very unpainted! They throw instead of pass the things to me. Anyway check at the camera on 25th September2020 17:10, saw someone stealing vegetable, an old lady grab another peace of veg put into the shopping bag and walk out,was about to tell the cashier but changed my mind coz of the bad survice. But leave the clues here and u guys will dicide what to do about it.
Very Good
Fresh everything. Great store
Love this place but they price getting too expensive please.....must be a regulation for that
Best grocery store in Chinatown.Their products are fresh and less expensive than other stores. I visit there every two weeks.
Fresh fruits and yummy imported snacks. Quick check out.
Nicely stocked Asian grocery store to stop by when you’re in Chinatown – produce is fresh and theres good selection of dried goods found downstairs. However, the service leaves a lot to be desired and the space is very tight inside so it can get very crowded (especially on the weekends). Also keep an eye out when the cashiers are ringing you up – we’ve had more than one instance where they’ve entered the wrong price.Overall its a good grocery store to visit if youre looking for fresh fruits/produce and Asian goods. Just know what to expect.
Average place always crowded Has no social distance Implement Price is sometime High compared to other market
Good place to buy fresh fruits, veggies and meat. I love their selection of fish. All good fresh fish prices are reasonable. Much better than lot of other places where I been to for fresh fish.
Nice collection of Asian groceries at reasonable price though the place is small. Produce fresh till afternoon. Evening is crowded and vegetables looks wilted. A good place to stop if you are looking for asian spices, noodles, meat, fish, and many more. You can also find noodles from various countries and dumplings as well in the basement. Good collection of Chinese cookies and chocolates. Closes at 8pm but they start covering produce by 7:30pm.
Prices are reasonable, lots of produce to choose from.
Love this market
Very fair the only problem would be so crowded people be pushing each other but not intentionally but is a good place Im comfortable with them
Lot of fresh seafood can be found here. Also fruits and veggies are fresh, fair price. Im giving 3 stars because the owner and worker here doesnt care much about their customer service. They just want you to come, grab the food, pay for what you get then leave.
Great duck n roast pork mmm yummy
Its good place to buy green fresh Asian vegetables and fruits when I went by China town. If I need just something for a fast purchase, Ive to stay in a long line for paying. This made me impatient and just passed by.
Solid place to get produce. I didnt realize there is a downstairs until later... Now I cant stop going back. The bulk dry beans and grains are so worth the visit of youre a frequent consumer. It makes Bobs Red Mill look like overpriced bird seed.
Huge selection of interesting stuff you cant get anywhere else. Its not just a trip to a store but an experience all to itself.
Only place in China Town I go to for my needs. Ive never had a bad experience here.
So good. Fresh and low prices!
Great deals on seafood but crowded and dont expect anyone to say excuse me
Brunch food was just okay. Nothing special.Atmosphere was very cool with outdoor seating. I would def go back and try again for lunch or dinner.Drinks were good.
Prices are very reasonable..
A lot of traditional Chinese and east Asian ingredients and products. Spicy noodles, kimchi, duck eggs, coffee coated peanuts, pork buns, jasmine tea, soy sauce, really nice chocolate and orange wafers, all these on the lower level (basement). Quite a nice place. Kinda crowded at times.
On my opinion The Heng Fa is one of the best places to get seafood in Chinatown Philadelphia PA. They have a variety of seafood thats not available in most markets in Chinatown. In fact, a lot of the fish that they have there I could not find and other seafood markets in Chinatown PA dismayed this market stand out to originality when it comes down to getting things that you really need. In addition, they also have a wide variety of how far in vegetables and groceries. This includes special beings Rices suits and more. If you need to get a special dish or ingredient this is the market that you might want to check out amongst medi. The only thing that I didnt like when it came down to service is that most of the attendants there didnt seem very chopper friendly besides the cashiers. A lot of the fish attendance seem very short with people and that was a big turn-off. Other than that this market is pretty good.
Great market, my go to spot for obscure cuts of meat (ie; pork belly, pig ears and duck tongues). The patrons are a bit rude but the market is worth the minor hassle.
If you only care about the food price and quality but not the shopping experience, this is a great place to visit. Most of the food are cheaper than the big grocery store outside. Pay attention on the fruit, they are really fresher and cheaper.
I go there for long beans and bitter melon along with other vegetables I love that are not available in traditional supermarkets. It is usually crowded but once one knows where to find what they’re looking for it’s not that overwhelming. Also their meat prices are reasonable.
This market can get crowded at lunch time. They have fruits, vegetables, fresh fish, crabs, poultry, etc. Some staff doesnt speak Englis, but the ones that does are friendly. Mainly oriental clientele but a food place to stop by in passing.
I went In to get some lunch, the food was great and service was good and polite
Authentic Asian grocery store offering a very wide variety of vegetables, meat and fresh seafood, as well as SE Asian food and cooking supplies. Be mindful that only the cashiers and seafood counter guys speak English.
I love this little market and it seems as though everyone else around me loves this store also. It is very tight in there so dont go in with bags or bookbags on it makes it much harder to get around the store for everyone. There is a huge selection of everything. Things that you cant find around the city you might find there. Health food junkies paradise come true. I will indeed be going back often. 💖💖
While they have a decent selection, the smell is powerful, nearly unbearable. We generally go to the underground market around the corner. I guess if you are in a rush and know exactly what you want, this place would be fine. I wouldnt purchase Ang fresh meat or fish from here though. Also very crowded.
You can find big lobster here
Great grocery store with all kinds of interesting ingredients and products!
Little hectic but you can find great stuff at great prices. Produce, meat, and seafood on the first floor and dried and frozen goods downstairs. I go for the wide selection of refrigerated and dried noodles.
Tons of options, great prices. conveniently located in the heart of chinatown.
Crowded but many essential products
Just got a call from my credit card company that 150 dollars was charged at this supermarket using my card number...I live in NJ and the card is with me and I have never been to this store...These guys are doing credit card fraud with peoples stolen information. BE CAREFUL USING YOUR CARDS HERE.
So great
Great selection and location. Good prices.
Very amazing market!
Its a food market ... Cashiers can be nice but usually it would be nice to speak Chinese there lol
Love it here. SEAFOOD GREAT
Good market great prices just a bit of a wait in line to pay
Nice place to get live fish. Cheap vegetables and ready-made dumpings are also there.
For those who want to get straight to the point:- Customer service is bad as it can get (They should just add a self-service and a self-checkout it will make the shopping experience more enjoying)- Products arent always in the best conditions (It seems like every fresh product is kept in the fridge of the freezer until they almost go bad or they are sold in a way that makes it seem fresh)- Some places arent as sanitary as expected (This wasnt a problem when the shop was new. Nowadays, during the summer there are fruit flies and flies flying around on the fruit products and the meat/poultry and seafood section doesnt seem to be cleaned)For those who want more detail:Let me keep this as short as possible. The customer service overall is really bad. The cashiers have most of the blame. The meat/poultry and seafood services arent always good but they still get the job done if you give them enough time (that is if you can wait for a good 5-10 minutes). These opinions are based on events that I have experienced so you shouldnt believe everything I say as the one and only since everyone has different experiences. One of the worst experiences came from a recent visit during the checkout line. An elderly woman went to the front of the line. The cashier told the elderly woman to go to the end of the line and the elderly didnt respond. The cashier continued to press on the issue when no one in the line seemed to really mind the line cutting conducted by that elderly. It got to the point where the cashier was yelling at the elderly for her action (I wonder what happened to respect your elders). The cashier also said to the elderly that she wouldnt serve anyone who doesnt respect the rule with an attitude and confiscated the shopping basket of the elderly. The elderly continued to stand in front for the cash register and the cashier just when on and on yelling at the elderly while not minding the line (Could have just check out the elder and not hold up the line in the name of enforcing the rule for the line waiters). Although what the elderly did was wrong, I believe that what the cashier did wasnt done correctly in the professional sense. There could have been many other ways to solve the problem without harassing the elderly in front of everyone. Also if you understand the mandarin you will notice that the cashiers are professionals at bad mouthing people. In most of the visits, I find them talking about co-workers or in some cases rude customers.Okay... that took longer than I expected. I should just keep things short for the other problems. The products (mostly the fruits) are usually sold in a not so good condition when sold to the public. Just check the fresh products before you buy them and if you do buy them eat it in 2 days at the maximum (I bought an apple that looks fresh outside and in the inside the entire core was rotten. Dont know how that happened but at least it looked pretty). Im not a big stickler for the quality of food since not much of the food is really fresh after the long transport, but dont sell me rotten things along with the fresh ones. Also if you dont know how to spot the difference between a fish that is dead recently and a fish that has been dead for a while just buy the ones that are alive.Last problem, the sanitation during the summer is a problem. There isnt really anything to separate the seafood section from the fruit and vegetable section and during the summer there are some fruit flies and flies (Not always) so basically they can fly all over the place (I take it back. The only separation is the distance between each section. A good 7-9 yard). Also, the meat/poultry and seafood section dont seem really clean there are traces of stains all over the glass if you look. When you go to the seafood section watch out for the floor (usually wet).
It was great it had everything I wanted for snacks
The only good thing about this place is you can find a lot of reasonably priced veggies & sundries here. Unfortunately, the people working here are soooo unfriendly, rude & unprofessional.
Our favorite food market in Chinatown. Fair prices & good selection. Dont miss out on the downstairs section!
