They charge extra fees for vision services that are included as part of a standard vision exam by other optometrists, and as others have pointed out, they do not disclose this until youre in the office. I scheduled my appointment online, and when I arrived, they said they did not have me on the schedule. Afterwards, they did not respond to my emails, and they did not return my phone call. I was told that my contacts would arrive within 3-4 days, and in reality it took well over a week. I will say that the staff was nice enough, but had I known all this in advance, I would have gone elsewhere.
Wish the most recent review had been posted when I booked my appointment, as I had the exact same experience. They inform you only when you get there that there are multiple “mandatory fees” for things not covered by insurance, and you can’t get an exam with them if you don’t accept those. Also insisted they needed my major medical insurance and wanted to charge it, and that doesn’t cover the same things as my vision insurance does. Ended up walking out and going to a provider a couple of stores down, which will see me and only charge the appropriate $10 copay my insurance actually requires
So displeased that I am submitting a google review for the first time. Ended up walking out before being seen due to all the mandatory additional fees that were not disclosed at time of appointment booking. This included a mandatory $39 fee for retinal imaging that I was required to get to continue with appointment, and additional ranged fee from about $150-280 (don’t remember exact range but was from 100s to 200s) to renew my contact prescription. They did not seem to be able to provide an exact fee until after the appointment. None of this is mentioned on their website, nor was it disclosed when I called to book an appointment the week prior. I didn’t feel comfortable moving forward with them, since I didn’t feel confident that they wouldn’t slam me with additional mandatory fees. I feel that it is unfair and deceptive to spring these surprise fees on the patient after they’ve already taken time off of work and shown up for their appointment.
Always a pleasant experience from booking through to appointment. Pleasant staff and friendly and helpful doctors. No complaints!
Dr. Wrigley was excellent - thorough, patient, and answered all of my questions about the condition of my eyes and the contacts I was getting. The only issue was that the assistants whom I made the appointment with didn’t disclose all of the fees in addition to the cost of the lenses, although I thought I asked about total cost clearly.
Dr. Wrigley is the BEST! Shes wonderful with children and adults. She was very patient to answer my curious 9-year-olds 700 questions.
Wrigley Eye Associates was listed as a provider for Avesis insurance but when I arrived they stated they did not accept it, but could use my United Healthcare medical insurance. Well that was untrue. I ended up spending hundreds of dollars out of pocket in the office and another bill sent to my home for ONE vision exam. Dr. Wrigley was nice enough but I felt like she tried to push supplements onto me for “eye health.” I will not be returning.
Always receive great care by professional staff and caring providers.
I appreciate the years of knowledge Dr. Wrigley has behind her. I appreciate the care and concern that they show. I did try a different company to try and save money but I had to return for the quality treatment and products that you can only get from Wrigley Eye Associates. I recommend them anything I get compliments on my current pair of glasses that I purchased from them.Their staff is courteous and very professional and will help you pick out glasses that will not only help you see better but will also compliment your appearance. Be ready for many compliments once you have eye glasses from Wrigley Eye Associates.
Everyone is very nice and informative. They are great!
Read alot of bad reviews but my experience was pleasant and the front desk girls were very nice
Great practice with fantastic people. First rate office which I was thrilled to find. The office staff is knowledgeable and the doctors are great. Highly recommend.
I wasted $500 at this office and ended up with no contacts! After weeks of my appointments being canceled I finally was able to get fitted for medically needed hard lenses. They called VSP to confirm my coverage. I asked about the cost multiple times and was told that the fitting and lenses were very expensive but I was covered. Once I got home I received a call stating that I owed them about $2600 because they didn’t know my insurance was not through my employer. VSP ended up covering $150 of the fittings fee and I paid $490 (45 for the visit). They tried to get me to take a care credit loan for the $2000 lenses but I got insurance with EyeMed that covers both the lenses and fitting. They repeatedly asked that I take the loan or pay in cash because EyeMed did not cover the lenses fully which was not true. They were going to back end bill me for the cost that they were to take since the insurance only covered $300 and they would have to pay the remaining $1700. The insurance representative repeatedly stated that if they try to charge me I should not pay. In the end the doctor refused treatment because they did not want to assume the remaining fees. I really felt that the doctor cared about my well being but in the end it was only about the money. I am now getting fitted and contacts with a different doctor free of charge as covered by my insurance.
Dr Wrigley has always been very thorough in examining my eyes. She makes sure that your eyes have the best treatments
I had a great experience getting my eye exam and picking out a new set of glasses. They were so nice and took there time letting me pick out the frames I wanted. I would highly recommend this business for anyone in the market for new glasses!
Ive been going Dr. Wrigleys office for over 15 years and the skills, expertise, customer service is always stellar. I have and will continue to recommend them to my family and friends.
The very knowledgeable, pleasent staff giving a number 1 on the scale from 1-10 (one being the highest rating) for professionalism and knowledge. Love ya.Dr Wrigley is the best eye doctor in the world, she pays attention to detail and explain your condition so that you can understand. Over the years she has upgraded her office equipment to the latest technology. When you need a specialist she refers to the best in the area. Most of all she saved my sight.
Very knowledgeable, kindly manner, attentive, explains everything. Keeps appt time. Will fix smallest problems. Traditional choice of glasses; you can bring your own.
Clean office, friendly staff, and knowledgeable professionals that are really easy to talk to and get questions answered! Couldnt imagine going anywhere else.
My every year go to. My addiction is eyeglasses like some people love shoes. The doctors are wonderful and the staff, what can I say, I love this place. Highly recommend them for your eye care. Also Shonda, be sure to see her for the perfect pair. She knows what looks good on everyone.
This is the best place for perfect fitting glasses. It may be a tad expensive but I have always gotten a perfect set of glasses. I actually buy computer and progressives at the same time. The measurements are perfect
I have been a patient of Wrigley Eye Associates for at least 10 years. I am very satisfied with Dr. Karen Wrigley and her staff. There Center City location is convenient for me and there is always a very friendly and professional atmosphere among the staff on all of my visits or phone calls.. Scheduling is always done with you in mind. I would highly recommend their services to family, friends or anyone.
Dr Wrigley was recommended to me by several co-workers. Walked into the office to schedule my appointment. The staff was pleasant and I was able to schedule an appointment for a few days later. Because on ongoing eye problems, have had to see the doctor three times. The staff has always been very pleasant and helpful. Dr. Wrigley took the time to explain everything she was doing and why, and I have a better understanding of my eye issues. A pleasant experience all around.
Excellent service from knowledgeable and kind doctors. I’ve been a customer for years. I highly recommend them.
First Visit - Given a new brand of trial contacts. Extremely uncomfortable astigmatism contact, cannot see. Second visit - a week later, not seen by my doctor. Seen by a student doctor. I ask to go back on my original contact brand and I am told they will be in in a few days to try on. Haven’t heard anything yet so I call the office after 2 weeks. They say oops the contacts were never ordered and they will overnight the contacts. Next day - They say contacts are in. They have ordered the wrong brand. Say they will reorder. Next day - contacts are in again. Correct brand, wrong prescription. Next week - third visit and am seen by a completely different doctor. Go back to original brand and prescription. I am told that, in fact, my vision hasn’t changed at all and I’m going back to my original prescription that I came in with. The next week - contacts are finally in. It took 7 weeks just to get the same exact prescription I had before. They also double book your appointments, so you’re there for about 1-2 hours per appt. Only giving two stars because everyone was friendly, but way too many mishaps to ever return here.
Had a great experience with Dr. Irene Musten. It’s very hard to find a good eye doctor. She was so sweet and friendly. She answered all my questions. Very good doctor.
I had the worst experience here.I came in to get an eye exam and a pair of glasses. Every step of the way, I was upsold things I didnt need. They started out with three extra tests at a minimum of $30 each. The exam itself was fine - but they had me dilate my eyes before I went out to talk about what I would be purchasing. I could not read the paperwork they put in front of me. I was effectively blind. I got talked into buying both contacts and glasses because the person in front of me was assured she knew what was best for me.They did not offer me options. They did not give me a choice of different coatings for my lenses. They just threw the paperwork at me and asked me to sign. When I thought it over the next day and called to cancel the contacts, it was a near thing. I almost wasnt able to. But the problem was that the allowance from my insurance was used on the contacts, not the glasses. At that point, they did not offer to rebill the payment for my glasses. After that point, it was too late. They offered very little support and no help for my situation. Will never be coming here again.
It is clear Wrigley Eye Associates is more interested in up selling than trying to correct vision. With insurance I paid close to $100 for my visit. There was NO change to my contacts or glasses prescription. Total waste of money and time. In addition I had to wait 30 mins+ from my appointment time. I tried to get glasses online (did not want to give Wrigley any more money due to treatment/unethical charging) but there were key metrics left off my glasses prescription. Front staff very unfriendly.
I am typically a very laid back person. I have never taken to the internet to write a negative review about anything. However, there is a first time for everything! I had my annual eye appointment at Wrigley on 6/18. About 10 days later I called and was informed my new glasses were in. I went to Wrigley 7/02 and they were unable to install the lens into the frames I purchased. They said the frames were faulty and they would order a new pair, to take about 2 to 3 business days. I called Wrigley on 7/08 and was told the second pair were ready. On the morning of 7/09, I called again to reconfirm and let them know I would be coming into the office that day to get the new set. I returned to Wrigley 7/09 as promised, to have the exact same thing happen. This is after I had spoken with them twice to let them know I was coming to get glasses which I was told were ready.I understand mistakes happen, and as I stated I am a reasonable person. However, what really upset me was the reaction I received from the receptionists who were present both times I went to Wrigley. They were extremely apathetic, their handling of the situation was perfunctory at best. I was made to feel I was the problem. If I had received a simple apology for the error, or any sort of recognition that my time is also valuable and they regretted that I had wasted it in my two trips into their office for glasses which were not prepared for my arrival, I would not be here venting about Wrigley Eye Associates! I hope by sharing my experience I might help someone else not waste their time, too.
Fantastic Service! Felt right at home there. The doctor is very through and very professional. The lady who helped me with chosing a frame..wonderful. Looking forward to my next appointment.
Over 20 years with Dr Wrigley and she has always guided me in the right direction. Ive been wearing Ortho K lenses at night for over 15 years so that I have wonderful vision all day without the trouble of disposable lenses. For an active person, its perfect!
Very detailed care by dr’s who appear knowledgeable and caring. Appreciate that they have invested in extensive equipment to supplement basic eye exams.
Amazing practice. Fabulous Doctor. Helpful and friendly staff. My experience was outstanding!
So many years of very satisfied service. I always tell staff & Dr. Wrigley how excellent the eyecare is: state of the art imaging, diagnostic technology & prescriptions you can trust; customer-centered & friendly assistance with any questions, needs, & concerns; billing is easy & simply explained; the large selection of frames is not overwhelming—so many styles to choose from—because staff knows the inventory & guides your shopping according to your fashion taste & prefernces. If undecided, you get helpful comments & feedack on your choices. Can eyecare get any better than this? You don’t have to answer that. I will: “No!”
Super friendly staff, and awesome docs!
Actually spent little time with Dr. Wrigley because her staff was so incredible prepping me! Great experience, helpful staff, and great frame selection.
I will not be returning to this place, and I am calling in to get my prescription and cancel my frames. I went there in mid December, the Doctor and Student Doctor were both fabulous and very friendly. The staff however seemed very uncaring and the woman that was supposed to help me with the frames seemed to hate her job and not care at all. The frames were all way overpriced, and it is now the new year and I still have not recieved a call about the frames I had ordered.
Dont waste your time with them, they are very unprofessional and have no respect for your time. I had an appointment for a Saturday that I had scheduled weeks in advance, then the day before my appointment they call me to cancel due to a change in their office schedule!!! I tried to reschedule but they wanted me to wait almost a whole other month to get another appointment even though they were the ones who canceled! They didnt even apologize or make an effort to help me.
Friendly staff and very helpful! Not a huge frame selection though.
Dr Musten is very thorough and reassuring.
Students are great. Office tries to sell you everything they can and it gets rather annoying
Unfriendly front desk staff and ridiculously high prices.
Gets the job done but they try to take money from you at any angle possible.
