I was excited to support the Joy Bus diner as they just re-opened and I’m blown away!! Brunch was so delicious! I’m definitely going back to get the Croque madame and the pancakes. The eggs Benedict made with a swap with salmon is on my list. I’d love it if they added a Mexican-inspired option too— huevos rancheros or chilaquiles
***Closed ! Definitely call ahead you wouldn’t want to drive 20 minutes to get there and the place is closed! The chicken and waffle is still in my top five favorites though in the state.....
We love the food and the staff here so much. I miss eating in there. I pray it opens for inside dining again soon. Best breakfast Ive ever had in a restaurant.
It was a warm and breazy Arizona Sunday morning. We had just gotten out of church and, I was a very hungry boi. I told my wife I needed to eat. She said to me follow your heart it will take you where you need to be. As we drove through our city we passed many restaurants. None of them seem right. Until we came to a small shade covered patio in a small strip mall. The order rolling out was smooth and satisfying. We stepped in to a unique and cozy dinner. The likes of which have never been done and shall never be repeated for the rest of time.We were promptly seated by the delightful staff. After a brief perusal of the menu, I knew I could not chose and, so I quietly resolved to consume everything. After talking to our weighter I decided to start with the princess popieseed pancakes. I ate. It was euphoric.I paid my bill and anonced to all present that this place this land would be my new home. As well as the land and home of my children for generation to come.
We had a meeting in about 45 minutes and wanted a quick bite to eat. We were heading east on Shea where I saw a stylized sign for Joy Bus on a building. Looked interesting so we turned into the strip mall and went in. Great little diner and reading the menu turns out its a great socially conscious place. They fix and deliver meals to cancer patients. Really tasty food too.
It was hard deciding what to rate this neighborhood diner. Its definitely 5 stars on mission and purpose. We could use more service driven local businesses in our community. Kudos to them. If you come early, youll get seated immediately with a hot cup of coffee, served a quick and simple breakfast that does the basics right, and all with amiable service and a price that makes you feel like its 1995. Perfect. My wife and I werent flabbergasted by some of the options on the menu. For instance, some of the traditional breakfast dishes usually served on bread come on a thick baguette instead-- looks fancy but makes it difficult to eat. Overall I am very happy this little diner opened in the neighborhood. Check them out!
We happened upon this place off of Yelp, and decided to try it after I read through the website and saw that it was a non-profit taking healthy meals to cancer patients at their homes. How inspirational. This place didnt disappoint. It actually exceeded our expectations in every way. The prices were reasonable, and that also attracted us. My husband said his food was probably the best $5 two egg breakfast hes ever had. It even came with bacon, and it was delicious. Our friends split a chicken and waffles plate with 4 eggs on the side, and really enjoyed it. I had the French toast with bacon and an orange slice. The orange slice was delicious. The French toast was nicely done. And of course the bacon was amazing.
I love to support local and when that local restaurant supports a good cause, its a double whammy! I came here for some chicken and waffles and have been back numerous times for some more healthy options and have left satisfied every time. The wait to get food can be long when they are in their breakfast rush but always worth the wait!
Food here is a cut above most diners. Service always friendly and accommodating. This diner is in a very small space so it can be noisy and warm depending on the crowd. Its a great cause, creative menus, and excellent food. Many more pluses that creates a steady stream of regulars.
Really cool little diner! The staff was very friendly and helpful! I ordered the chicken & waffles with OJ. The waffles were very delicious! They were made thin and very tasty! I am a huge Fried chicken fan but was a little disappointed in the fried chicken here. It came out in 3 pieces of breast meat, the outer fried skin itself lacked flavor and the chicken meat on the inside was rather dry. It took lots of hot sauce to eat it. My grandpa had 2eggs & pancakes breakfast he stated It was very good. It came with eggs your way, 2 pancakes, toast, your choice of meat and potatoes. The OJ was definitely fresh squeezed it couldve been sweeter for my taste but otherwise good. This place was founded to support homebound cancer patients, which is really awesome! They make and deliver meals to patients with cancer that are homebound and they are nonprofit! Kudos to them!
Love this place😁! Food is always great! Great cause for a great price. Everyone there is very warm and accommodating! Go at least twice a month.
This is my go to place for amazing food and even more amazing people. I have never been disappointed in anything I have ever ordered and the service is always family like. My children and I look forward to going here every weekend. I cant say enough good things about the Joy Bus Diner. I would eat there everyday if I could.
What a cute little place. The burrito was delicious and super affordable. I believe this is the hub for a charity, which is super awesome. Staff is super friendly. I try to stop by every time I’m in the area. The decor is cute and inviting.
As a recipient of The Joy Bus non profit, I can tell you the work is not even something to put a price on. Its good food, grown and made by good people in order to deliver some love and compassion. This makes the world better and it certainly has made ours brighter. We are beyond grateful......we are also well fed.
If you enjoy excellent food, menu variety, healthy and vegan options too, this is the place for you. The diner is a non profit that supports cancer patients. Give it a try! Our entire family (30+ adults and children) volunteered in meal delivery, kitchen prep, bussing and cleaning tables, etc. What a beautiful day spent for such a worthwhile operation.
Biscuits were rock-hard (literally crunchy) all the way through and the gravy just tasted like greasy water with tiny chunks of flavorless meat floating around in it. It didnt taste like it started with a roux or even had flour in it. Even salt and pepper couldnt help it out. If my gravy came out like that at home, Id dump it and start over. Pancake was just okay, kinda bland and the syrup seemed watered down. Waited 45 minutes for our food. Its inexpensive, so I guess you get what you pay for here.
Atmosphere is great, the staff is great. The food is really good, had the chilaquiles, very good. I will definitely return to try the rest of their food. Also want to thank Jennifer and her staff for what they do for the cancer community.
Cute little place with good food and nice people. Small menu, but pretty yummy. I like my money going to good causes.
Oh wow........such a great place.Just in from Broken Arrow/Tulsa Oklahoma and found it on Google. Wonderful atmosphere and the best food! You will not be disappointed. It also supports a charity for Cancer. Thanks so much Joy Bus!😘🥑🍳🥓🌯
Service was subpar. Asked for a glass of water, never received it. Server asked if I wanted cream with coffee, answered yes, but it was never brought. Never asked if I wanted a coffee refill. Food quality was so-so. Pancakes had odd cooked in grease taste. Syrup had no flavor. Toast had no butter After seeing this place featured on TV and local festivals, we had high hopes but were very disappointed.
Great little diner with amazing food and more amazing people! The diner is small but the hearts of the people are huge! Go and support this great non profit doing fabulous things!
Just saw them on returning the favor and had to give props on what they are doing!
Wish I could give this place a million stars! We love what they do, we love what they serve, and we love what they stand for! Super lucky to have a place like this in our community. It reminds me that we are all in this life together and its better to live it that way. Love thy neighbor and pay it forward. Thank you to all that help this great organization continue their work.
Very friendly staff, very nice! Comfortable place and good vibes. The food is mostly good, depends on what you order!
My first time there. Super good food and staff. Bonus was that it has a diverse menu with healthy choices. Also lots of traditional choices like Oreo cookie French toast. I will be going back.
Food was really good and service was great, staff was super nice and helpful. It was our first time there and my family really enjoyed it, we will definitely be back :)
Pretty good place. Especially for a non profit business. Portion sizes were very fair and service was good. Not great but good, same with the food. It seems exactly like what it is, volunteers running a business. Which anything bad at all! It gives the place a lot more comfort feeling, like youre eating in the back of someones house rather than a sit down joint. Definitely will be back to try more items!
This place is so amazing, the food is great, the atmosphere is amazing and I would definitely recommend this place! Also, I need to get in touch with the owner to see if I am able to volunteer there. Does anyone how to contact them, besides the phone number?
Best breakfast around. Everything is made from scratch and very reasonably priced. On top of that it’s non profit for a great cause.
Today I went with my family to have breakfast and celebrate my birthday. Since we watched the chopped episode we wanted to try it out and make it special. We ordered poppy seeds pancakes, chilaquiles and chicken and waffles.Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Great service!!!!!! I will comeback for sure!
I feel like it’s a hidden secret! The food is amazing as well as the people who work and volunteer at Joy Bus!! A huge breakfast burrito for penny’s...and today we are going in because they are making Irish Car Bomb Pancakes for St. Patty’s day!🍀🍀🍀🤓was just there yesterday ! Nothing wrong with going to the joy bus diner everyday 😍🤪🤫
I loved the food and the service! It tasted homemade! This place is cozy. I cant wait to go back!
A very cool place ! saw it on google and decided to stop in for a try. was not disappointed. the chicken in a biscuit was super tasty! will be back to try breakfast!
Good food, fairly quick service for as many people there were. Friendly atmosphere. Would eat there again.
I guess my husband and I were not good enough potential customers. We walked in, were greeted promptly and were seated, then were ignored. People who came in after us we taken care of first. The servers just walked by us repeatedly and we continued to be ignored. To be fair, they seemed very preoccupied by flirting with the cook, so perhaps paying customers fell in their priorities. So we left and are now enjoying lunch elsewhere. The servers at Joy Bus need some training.
Strip mall minimalist breakfast house with surprisingly good food. It’s run as a non-profit so points for that. Nice people good service. The eggs Benedict is good though the side of a little blob of potatoes were over cooked. No sodas, only local healthy stuff. I’d like different chairs though. These hipster metal chairs are uncomfortable.
Awesome little place with a great cause. Delicious food, friendly service. They even gave me a gigantic chocolate covered strawberry with our Mother’s Day brunch.
My wife and I enjoyed a breakfast here. I had eggs Benedict while she had an omelet. The food couldve used a bit more seasoning but we still enjoyed everything.
Learn how to drive your company marked vehicle. Your driving is at Best rekless and dangerous.
Delicious food and generous portions. The profits from this restaurant go to cancer research and development. Many chefs and restaurants in the city donate time and/or food to help this non-profit diner survive. Go check it out. You will not be disappointed!! And you will be helping a great cause!!
This is a cute little place to eat. Its a nonprofit somehow, and the food is pretty healthy and good. Its definitely a place that appeals to educated people.
Coolest place to eat, good food. Friendly folks, down to earth, and GREAT cause. Wish more places like this one
The Joy Bus is one of our favorite places for weekend breakfasts. The food is amazing and the cause is even better. Fluffy pancakes, perfect eggs, great coffee is only the beginning. Helping feed homebound cancer patients with your bill and optional donation makes you feel even better supporting the Joy Bus.
The lemon Poppy seed pancakes served with a homemade sausage Patty is the most memorable breakfast I have been served in years! Knowing that Im helping a nonprofit organization raise money to make sure cancer patients eat right during treatment is not the icing on top, its the whole cake! I will gladly return as often as possible!
Not as good this time. The pancakes were perfect but...the potatoes were overly spiced and overly cooked. The avocado toast was yummy but the coffee tasted like licking the bottom of an ashtray. I think its time for the celebrity chef to come check things out. Staff are always friendly and accommodating.
First visit and it was awesome. Great little place for a well prepared meal for Breakfast or lunch. We had 3 breakfast items, eggs/chorizo, biscuits/gravy and two egg/bacon.....all were yummy. Prices are very reasonable compared to any joint nearby. Staff was friendly and on top of everything. Seemed like a regular crowd and lots of pickup/take out customers. Will be back to try other items on the menu, maybe a lunch.
I ordered avocado toast with poached eggs it was delicious!! Staff is very friendly:) Cozy place, good to visit with family and friends or just have a breakfast at work
This is a restaurant with purpose. A non-profit restaurant, serving breakfast and early lunch. All proceeds go to feeding cancer patients and their caretakers. This is one of the few restaurants Im proud to go to, and I always leave a little extra when I leave. Not big on ambiance, but the food is served quickly, and with care.
Our first time. What a great experience. Good food, service, and a wonderful purpose. Keep up the great work. Check em out!!!!!!
Youd be helping cancer patients with meals and other support jusy by dining here. Cant say Ive ever had bad service, let alone a bad meal here! Love that its dimly lit to boot
Quaint hole in the wall. Great food and amazing service..And giving back to the community in a real way. These people are doing the Lords work and serve a great breakfast to top it off
Amazing food. Great cause. Being a 2 time cancer survivor myself, I love what they do.
Love the story behind this diner. I also appreciate that they are very upfront about wait times when they are busy. All of the staff is very friendly. I recommend the lemon poppyseed pancakes (especially if you really like lemon). I’ll have to come back to try their biscuits and gravy as they were all out when I was there.
I am so very grateful to the wonderful people here at The Joy Bus! Lisa has been a friend for a very long time and she helped me get my mother all set up for meal delivery. My mother has since suffered a stroke and no longer is in need at the moment, but I would definately recommend utilizing this program. Thank you for everything from the bottom of my heart!
I will admit I was planning on going to another breakfast place I will not name. The wait there would have been outrageous so I decided to Google best biscuits and gravy near me which led me to Joy!Never heard of this place but very glad I found it. Of course I ordered a side of biscuit and gravy which was amazing. Fresh homemade biscuit with a flavorful homemade gravy with lots of sausage. I also ordered the Avocado Woods toast, look up this on the menu, oh my!!! Couldnt have been made more perfect and the fresh bread and vinaigrette made the meal! Also, no scrimping on the avocado like a lot of places will do. I almost didnt want to write my kudos because I didnt want it to become too popular but please read the info I posted and visit because amazing tasty food AND a good cause, you cant go wrong!
Love the concept that its based on. Love the food, the atmosphere. The volunteer staff are amazing. Its the kind of place that I will surely support
Excellent good, decent prices, and they support meals to cancer patients!
Hard to find as very little signage, but that is only a detail. Another detail, the cause is wonderful, again, another detail. Aside from the altruistic reasons (which are great), the food is delicious. If you want to eat healthy, you can do it (not sure why). But if you want REAL food, it is here. The only problem, the prices are too low. Have a great meal, do something good for yourself and for someone else who doesnt have a choice.
Food was better than expected. It is a great place and we are happy to have it in our neighborhood. Im definitely coming back.
The food is good at the right price and it all goes to a good cause. The staff is very friendly and quick.
Come in for tasty eats and enjoy this places amazing mission. Check it out. The best fresh OJ Ive ever had!
Went for breakfast. Eggs and home fries were good. No Turkey bacon or sausage.
Service was good, food only okay imo. I was excited to try the chicken and a biscuit but the monstrous plate of food just kind of turned me off and wasnt the best. Very small menu as well.
Excellent service and food. My first time there but definitely not the last.
Nice and cozy. Breakfast was great. Food is fresh. Pancakes were enormous! Cant wait to go again.
Have been wanting to come for a while. So glad I finally made it. First of all if you want to have a great breakfast or lunch in a very nice, small, friendly place, then go to Joy Bus Diner. But there is another benefit and mitzvah you will do at the same time. All proceeds go to supporting getting meals to people who are homebound due to illnesses such as cancer. This is a Win Win. You get a great meal and you help those in need. I cant think of anything better. Go ahead and google them. And then go and have a great meal. We will definately become a regular.
Pleasant and the food is exactly what dining in should be. Will be gracefully honored to have in my dining part of life. Much appreciated for honest service.
It was just okay. The rating is a three because the poached eggs were more like hard boiled eggs. Ordered the green chili Benedict and they brought me something else and I didnt realize it until i had already consume half of it. The meat was chewy and I couldnt finish it. The decor is super cute and I love the cause! A few tweaks would raise their star rating from me.
First time here with my sisters. Good food Tim and John were great. Thank you :) We will definitely be back. I need to try Princess pancakes:)
The food was great, loved the chicken and waffles, and also very reasonably priced menu. They also donate some profits to help feed cancer patients! Its so amazing to see a business that gives back, ill definately return soon!
First visit inside the restaurant (first time trying we got take out). Cute, cozy space. There is a wait list you sign in on at the entrance. We waited less than 10 mins on a Saturday morning around 10am. Entrees were the Traditional Eggs Benedict and the Biscuits and Gravy. Both were delicious. We will be back to try out some of the other items (chicken and waffles, pancakes). 👍👍
Great food, and you are helping others. Best way to help and get a great meal
The food and service were amazing. The portions were generous and the diner has a wonderful atmosphere.
What a wonderful place. Starting at the front door I was intrigued and began feeling connected. I like cozy, comfy places with good food and good service and Joy Bus fits the bill.
Delicious breakfast! Great staff! You will come back for more trust me!!!
Great breakfast. Good social cause. Convenient location. Volunteer staff. Go
The food is good but the guy who runs it is a bit rude and they need more than one cook. The set up is a bit weird with the sign in process and the place feels too small and cramped. The biscuits were good so I feel I would like to say I would go back for the food, but would search out other places first.
The JoyBus Diner is just that....JOY!This little diner greets you with a smile & joyous good morning. We had the Egg & Pancake Breakfast. Comes with potatoes & toast too but we opted for fresh fruit & skipped the toast completely. The 2 pancakes were more than enough. Delicious with a hint of lemon making them very good. Eggs cooked perfectly. Staff very attentive with coffee, water etc. Heres the best part....At a price everyone can afford leaving room to make a generous donation to JoyBus good works of caring for homebound cancer patients by providing them with health chef cooked meals.
Very affordable, good portions, super friendly service. Unfortunately we were served dirty dishes, and they were out of several menu items for a Sunday brunch. Love the charity concept, will be be back.
Very good food! We were headed to a different place up the street but it had wait lines I have only seen in Surprise! Glad we went there didnt disappoint us!
Great to have a breakfast and lunch Diner in the neighborhood. Simple family atmosphere. Staff is excellent with servicing the customer. A new weekly restaurant for me.
Fantastic place to eat. I was impressed with the healthy food options. 5 of us ate breakfast for under 40 bucks. Love it
Great place, cool staff! Food was great and love the idea and concept of this place. Highly recommend it.
Food was amazing. Unassuming location - dont let it fool ya - what a gem this is. I had the Rueben with fries. The fries still had skin on which I adore. Corned beef was tender and fell apart. Partner had the chiliquenti (sp?) He said it was out of this world. AND get an amazing frozen banana!!Great food, great cause, we will be back.
The oj tasted like eating a orange. So fresh. Nice waitress. Good food.
Amazing Ruben Sandwich and even better staff! I will definitely be back!
I absolutely love this place! Food is always delicious! What a great company!
Very good food! Good price! Great service!
Had a family breakfast after Dad passed from cancer. Could not have made a better choice. The food was outstanding!
Great place food was fantastic and its supports doing good.
Not a bad place. Burrito wasnt as good as Id hoped for. But other breakfast was good.
