These guys have done some amazing jobs for me. Theyre pretty quick and always communicate well. Theyre busy because theyre really good.
Place holder review for kilo. Came highly recommended from a few friends in the industry.
I had a PSAK-47 GF3 get a furniture swap from Magpul to Russian Red wooden furniture and get my safety lever notched in order to lock my bolt to the rear. I am very pleased with the results, workmanship, and fairly quick turnaround (12 days). I will certainly have all gunsmithing needs taken care of by them. They even included a cleaning rod.
I purchased a MP5 built on a German HK German F parts kit .Builder was Ralph Smith jr son of Ralph Smith sr owner of RDTS.Ralph sr did a few HK factory builds going back about 35 to 40 years ago an all were perfect. Then I ran across this MP5 on the HK PRO forum built from a factory German F parts kit. Has run perfect for about 2000 rounds. Fit & finish perfect. Welding is unbelievable. Unable to tell inside and out where flat was sectioned in. Is all I can say dad taught his son very well. Ralph Smith jr know works for Kilo guns. Obviously takes a lot of pride in his work. The best part you can actually speak to Ralph jr at kilo guns anytime.
I have had several gun transfers with Kilo. Never had any issues. I have also had kits built by them. I would definitely recommend them!
Ive used their services several times. I highly recommend Kilo Guns.
I use to love shooting a friends Kilo Guns AK so when it was time to get my own, it was a no brainer to get mine from Kilo Guns. Once I ordered, I knew patience is worth the wait. They did not disappoint!! My new AKM is awesome!! Its not only beautiful but runs flawlessly with perfect accuracy. I couldnt be more thrilled!!I have to mention that the men at Kilo are super cool. As a female gun enthusiast, coming across condesending idiots is common, so doing business with good guys like Wyatt and Justin made this purchase that much more fun.
Wyatt was able to provide me with a high quality AKM via messages and phone calls. The gun is magnificent; rivets are perfect, tight groupings, and have yet to have any failures to feed or any problems at all after 750 rounds. I leave it in my living room and get complements every time. 10/10 recommend.
Jroped off my grandfathers 1911 and after leaving they called because it is in pretty bad shape getting cleaned and refurbished and painted charging 300 have a good feeling will be back for update but so far guys are perfect
Quick turnaround time on my sight install (under 5 hours) on my Smith and Wesson. Did it right, no scratches on the slide or sights. Reasonable price and even stayed late to get it done and wait for me to get down there. Will definitely go back!
Great work! These guys were awesome! And helped turn my nightmare situation into a positive experience!
Took two of babies to them, AK & M1A, to install right adopters for suppressors. Small operation so took a while to complete. Kept me informed on progrss getting right parts. When completed perfect workmanship and reasonable pricing. Great guys also very knowledgeable
The go-to for all ak47,ar15,hk builds and more with professional cerakoting available. Wyatt is the man!
Almost as good as AZEX
Wyatt is a US Marine and is highly skilled. He takes pride in his craft and it shows. Kilo Guns is hands down our go to for anything AK. We Support Veterans, We Support Local, We Support the Best...
Had a job done for $290, I brought in $300 --they didnt have $10 dollars cash for change and they didnt want me to pay the extra fee for using my card so the employee took $20 out of his own wallet and gave it to me. Thats the kind of people that work here--more concerned with making sure the customer is happy.Because of those good gestures they give towards customers Im taking that extra $10 I got and coming back the same week to get more work done.
So Wyatt is absolutely amazing I literally have no other words to describe his art, other than his skill is amazing! Thank you Wyatt for all your hard work on my rifle! You’re one of a kind and will be recommending all of my friends to you!
Very shady company. My gun was jamming, charged be $80 to inspect, said must be ammo. Next time out, still jammed. Took back in, they said its ammo issue and charged another $40 for shooting my gun to say its ammo. I would find a more ethical and knowledgeable company.Owners reply to above review is false. Actually a lie, they specifically told me they would check at no charge since it is the same issue and call if they found something different than their original diagnosis that would incur a charge. I should have refused to pay but I just wanted to get out of there. And the ammo works just fine in my other 22. So I dont agree that its ammo but I will try a different type. And if that is it I wouldve been fine paying once. But what kind of company charges twice for something when you bring it back for doing the same thing you paid for already? Very unique way to run a business.8/11/19 update- shot gun this weekend with recommended brand of ammo, still jamming. Guess its not ammo and I need to get it checked by someone more qualified. Thanks for charging me $120 for nothing.
Came here to fix a botched side rail install on my AK and these guys did an awesome job at fixing the mess, looks a lot cleaner and within specs. Would definitely come back for an future work
Dropped an AK off and told the person at the front that I was moving in three weeks, and they said that’s how far out they were booked.I ended up staying in the state for an extra week, and at the beginning of week 4 I called them and they told me it would be another 1 to 2 weeks. The person I spoke to said he’d tell the boss my situation and give me a call back. They never called me. The next day I called them again and he said the exact same thing. 2 hours later I gave them a third call and they said the same thing again. Never once did anyone from the shop return my calls. Finally I had to stop by and pick up my firearm that had been sitting in a bin for 4 weeks with zero work done on it.I was quoted for 2 hours of work, and the fact they couldn’t find the time over a month to help me before I left the state really bothers me.I’d stay far away from these people if you want a gunsmith that’s willing to work with you and help you out.
Wyatt I do want to mention thanks for your service to protect our freedom in his service with our armed forces!I had a East German AK 47 parts kit that I entrusted Wyatt to build. I had an issue with rivets in the receiver or frame of the gun that were not industry standards. The rivets were not seated all the way, industry standards and instructions for correct installation can be had at request. Wyatt addressed the issue at the time and performed rivet repairs however the rivets are not satisfactory. Daylight can be seen thru these rivets.Wyatt, you should have done it right the first time. I spent good money on this. I hope you care.
Have been in twice. 2 x pistols both with trigger work. Extremely fast turn around and very fair pricing. Threw on some trijicon sights while I waited. Can not get that kind of service at any other gunsmith around. Highly recommend.
This is my favorite store. The workmanship is excellent. The staff gunsmith is exceptional. They have done excellent repairs on my guns. He is also a machinist and can fabricate parts for nearly anything. They do custom color coatings and laser engravings. The engraving work they did on my GLOCK 20 is sharp. All I had to do was email them a picture.
He cerakoted an AK of mine along with changing it to a rivet set back when he was still working out of his house. He did a great job with both. If I am ever looking for a new AK or and gun smith work Ill go here.
Wyatt down at Kilo has ALWAYS done solid work. I’ve brought multiple firearms to him from work on malfunctions to complete customization of my rifle. There is no other smith that I’ll take my weapons to. I always see him posting late at night when he’s still working after the sun goes down.Thank you for all the hard work.
Had work done on two Galil ARM and a Saiga conversion. Expedient, high quality, and professional service.Got a C93 HK Clone worked on and they did a superb job.
I had a great experience at Kilo. They cerakoted my Sig in a Woodland camo pattern. They also repaired my HK mod 4.
I called the shop asking if they did titanium nitrate (TiN) coatings and over the phone he said yes, they could take care of it. Brought my parts into the and explained I wanted a TiN coating to match the barrel. When I came back, they did cerakote on parts and said the cerakote gold color matches the barrel...That’s NOT what I asked for! That’s not what I was told. I wanted TiN coating, now I’m stuck with two different colors of gold and looks cheap as hell.He replied with “we don’t do TiN coatings here”.
Dropped off an ak to be assembled. They did a tremendous job. Had it done on time. Charged me exactly what was quoted. And even went up and beyond and let me pick it up 2 hours before opening normal business hours because I work nights. This is my first expierience with kilo but will definitely be a returning customer.
Ive used these guys since they opened. Top notch quality and just good guys to do business.
I keep bringing my firearms to Kilo Guns because they do the best work in Arizona. They work on my handguns and also on my AK-47 with the great paint coat only Kilo Guns knows how to do.
I dropped off a barrel, trunnion, FSGB, bolt, handgaurd retainer, hinge block and pins to be assembled. The barrel needed to be turned and threaded, then headspaced to the bolt and trunnion. The work took a few weeks longer than expected, but I was in no rush. When I picked up the finished assembly, it was painted black. I never requested any paint. Allegedly the paint was done pro bono due to the delay in delivering the finished work. Ok, no big deal. A few months later I get around to putting the rifle together. After pressing the barrel into the trunnion and getting the barrel pin installed, we checked headspace. It was in spec, but required ZERO pressure to go into battery. pressed the barrel pin out, and the cut made into the barrel and trunnion didnt line up. Looking over the work more closely, it looked like there was super glue or maybe just globbed on paint around the hinge block. The alignment between the hinge block and FSGB could have been better too. The journal of the barrel was also painted, which also seemed unprofessional. And again, I never requested the finished assembly be painted.I havent bothered contacting Kilo about this, because shortly after there were claims made that they stole a hard to get parts kit, and drug it out for nearly two years all while using it as a demo piece to advertise for Kilo. Kilo didnt appear to want to talk about it. How that relates to me. Seeing the way kilo handled the situation w/ the alleged stolen kit, I didnt expect it to be worth my time. Also, given how shoddy the work was that would be otherwise invisible to most people, I didnt really want them touching my rifle or any of its parts again. So, if you are looking to have any AK type firearms worked on or built, I can not reccomend having them do the work. I really wouldnt have them refinish a firearm either. The guys down at wepleadthe2nd do a better job for cheaper all while being distracted by leaspeed.Overall, very disappointed and upset in my one time experience w/ Kilo.
I’ve had several guns run through kilo. Anything from cerakote and miling. I have always had nothing short of a prefected product returned to me in a professional manner. I’ve seen plenty of negative reviews coming from unreliable sources and I pay no attention. Wyatt has got my business for years and will continue to for many more.
I had a complete AKM-47 built there along with some cerakote applied to my glock. All functions great, came out exactly as I asked, and pricing was more than fair, especially for the area and other gunsmiths in Phoenix. Kilo has my business 100%
In addition to providing aerial video for many members of the firearms community in Phoenix, I am also an Instructor who has taught over 9,400 students since 2007.When I met the founder of Kilo, Wyatt Mahan, I knew this is where I wanted all my maintenance and smithing-needs performed. His integrity, fair pricing and extensive knowledge that goes way past the AK platform, has made me a permanent client.
These guys do excellent work and are very professional and friendly. I came in to ask if they could take off a muzzle break that I couldnt get off myself and the owner said no problem and did it right then and there on his work bench free of charge. Solid guys, solid work.
I’ve known Wyatt for quite some time, he’s a really good guy and does great work.I see some reviews on here and have heard from some random people that the prices are high and sometimes service is “lacking”. Let me give the straight facts, im a gunsmith and a FFL so I understand the complaints, to a degree. Unfortunately sometimes we all get those customers who have much higher expectations such as bringing a project in and hoping to get it back in a few days or a week, even starting to call a few days after it’s been dropped off and continuing to call every 2-3 days. As in any business things operate on first in first out and Gunsmithing is no exception. I’ve also heard some people complain about how his prices are too high, well you get what you pay for!!!! If you want to pay to have it done once the right way it will cost you a bit more than paying someone to do it and possibly having it done the wrong way, then paying someone again to do it the right way. The age old adage applies here, but once cry ones.Kilo does a lot of work and most of the times they are pretty backed up, which is also reflected by the lead times they state. As a matter of facts when I was there a couple weeks ago I clearly saw a small sign indicating the lead times. At times things can slip through the cracks, something isn’t to your liking or what you had in mind or what have you, this happens to everyone in every industry. I’ve always known Wyatt and the staff at kilo to do the best they can to fix those issues as quickly and professionally as possible. As a ffl and gunsmith I do most of my own work, but there are some things I don’t have the level of expertise on. With those things I don’t hesitate to bring them to kilo cause I know it will be done right the first time. You can’t go wrong with kilo guns, just go there and let them do the work right the first time.
Sent in a SLR-106 for a cut and thread, great quality work, and 100% true threading, so it runs my suppressor perfect.
I walked in because I was checking out all the gun shops in the area. This place is not a retail gun shop. This place is for gun smithing and customization. Although I didnt do business on that particular day, one of the employees was super cool and talked to me about what they do and just seemed like a cool dude and not some random dude-bro, pro-gun douche. I never wanted to really cerakote a gun before, but after talking to these guys I may find a reason to blow a couple hundred bucks because a lot of other have been pleased with their quality in the past.
Kilo Guns has been more than accommodating in my recent purchase.
They are amazing at what they do! Great quality and great people!
Had a Serbian M70 rebarreled and reparked along with some other small parts being replaced. Nice finish, functions flawlessly, with good light at 114 yards 2.5 inches is my normal group without the occasional human error. I dont I can make myself buy another AK off a gun shop rack. I want a sebian underfolder in the future and if I can, it would be from this shop. Very happy with the work.
Most terrible gun smiths ive ever dealt with. the owner (who was a prior marine, but how sensitive he is you wouldnt know it) promised me he knew what he was doing. a week after i asked them to simply install my BERETTA brand decocker on my BERETTA 92, which stated on the box it was made specifically for that gun, told me it doesnt fit. i took it home and did it in 30 minutes. they were trying to charge me around 400 dollars for them looking at it because apparently their terrible gun smiths had no idea what they were doing. they lost pins, so when i was putting it in i had to modify my own. and i know they lost pins because i only got 2 back, when i gave them the kit it had atleast 10. when i was trying to explain it to the owner he kept cutting me off and telling me how competent he and his team were. when i told him i was going to get my lawyers involved he told me to come pick the gun up.not to mention, when i first got there they were all at lunch. by at lunch i mean on the curb ordering food from the gut truck. the owner had the audacity to give me a dirty look when i went to the door, checked if it was locked, and went back to my car. bare in mind, there were atleast 3 of them. so they could have sent one person out to go get food while the others manned the shop.this is not how you run a business. let alone a gun shop. terrible service. incompetent team. terrible turn around time. and i have dealt with some bad ones. this one takes the cake.
Great place to get your guns repaired and a reasonable cost.
Aside from quality gunsmith work Kilo Guns makes some very nice custom rifles and does great Cerakote work too.
If you care about your guns, do not take them to kilo guns. I recently had my grandpa’s colt 1911 refinished and reblued to prevent further rusting. Its an old .38 super from 1947. I know it was a challenging project for any gunsmith to take on since it did have pitting and pretty much none of the original blued finish. After the service I received however, now I wish I wouldn’t have taken it to kilo guns. Good customer service is very important to me. This is something they clearly lack. If you know me personally, you know that I am an easy going guy, I am polite and am not one to go to your place of business and make a scene. Not once did I ask for a refund, it was not about the money. It took them 5 months to finish my gun (they did give me an estimate wait time of 8-10 weeks when I dropped it off which I understood) after waiting about three months I called 3 total times and they always had one excuse or another to say why they did not have it finished. Once, they did mention that the owner took on the job himself to finish the gun and he was a busy guy but the interesting thing is that when I picked it up they said it was someone else that would come in and work on it on their downtime. A lot of mixed messages. The point I am trying to make is to think twice about taking your business to them. If you do, expect a long turn around period, no clear line of communication and no attention to detail. The reason why I took it to them in the first place is because of the work they post on their instagram page, it seems great. They made decisions that could have been discussed with me before doing so. I had simple requests since day one and provided many examples of what I needed including taking another gun of mine for them to reference, clearly they did not care about it. I wanted to keep the look of the gun original to the year and this is not the case. This is a two tone blued gun, polished sides and matte top and bottom. They decided to polished the entire frame along with taking off the edges (that really got me upset, not sure why they would decide to thinks that taking off the edges of the frame would be okay) I will say that they did a good job on the slide. Not once did they apologize and when I asked them to redo the work, they were not happy about it. I gave them a chance to make it better and redo the work, I contacted them via instagram to see how it was coming along, this was their response “We already had jobs going that are deadline specific so yes you are being put behind that” I guess me waiting 5 months for my gun to be finished and then just being put to the side did not sit well with me, so I just decided to get my gun back and take it elsewhere. I’m just glad to have it back. To top it off, they blocked me on Instagram after I picked up my gun (Childish move in my opinion, I gave them no reason to block me). Good luck to anyone doing business with these guys and thank you for listening to me vent for a few.
2 years ago I sent 2 ak74 kits for him to build for me and still no word..from what I heard,he ended up building and selling my kits on his website as his own...I have informed local and federal authorities and plan on sueing him..very shady company, beware
Owner has a very bad attitude. Unprofessional and unprepared.Take your business elsewhere, youll thank me for it.
A business dispute arose between myself and Kilo Guns. We were unable to resolve that dispute to my satisfaction.
Quoted two weeks, turned into two months. Finally they rushed through it and gave it back to me. It was such was poor quality that I ended up selling it. It made me furious to even look at what they had done so I ended up letting it go for cheap. Avoid this place if you care about your firearms.
Great guns, just wish they had a price list!!!!
Best looking gunsmiths in town.
Terrible customer service
