Under new ownership as of June 2021. The 5 stars are based on my past experience. We will see if it remains 5 stars under new owners. Hope so.*** update *** This place has been closed since May and now seems permanently closed. Several months ago there was a sign in the window that said “Will reopen in October”; never happened. Looking in the window it’s gutted and appears to be unlikely to open anytime soon, and when/if it does it will be something fundamentally different. What a shame.
I could never fit all the amazing things i have to say about this place into one review. my boyfriend and i came here from out of state early this year, and the employees were so incredibly kind, helpful, and informative. when they realized we were mac miller fans, they showed us props from the frick park market music video, talked to us about mac, and even wrote down directions to a mac mural for us. they gave us free pretzels too, and gave us the link to a video about the mac mural. also, the best sandwich i’ve ever eaten in my life was from here (the breeze). it was so good we had to come back for another one. i think about frick park market and the impact the employees had on me very often, and i’m so excited to return. they are keeping mac alive. i have never felt so valued as a customer, and i have a special connection to this place.
John and Maggi are very genuine, kind, and heart touching people. Me and my girlfriend had the greatest experience of meeting them both, and had a joyful and long conversation with John himself. He even offered to take our photo while he was taking his break on the bench. Very excited to come back and speak to them once more, as well as have more of their delicious and definitely underrated sandwiches. Thank you for the memories we will always cherish, and making us feel welcomed.p.s, John has some pretty great stories of Mac. :)
10/10 recommend frick park market. We were in Pittsburgh exploring the city and being a Mac Miller fan, this was a must do on the list. The market experience was the best we had the entire time. The family who owns the market knew Mac and made us feel at home. They told us stories and jokes. Took a picture of us and our dog in front of the market and gave them milkbones! We had lunch and it was delicious! Can’t wait for our next trip to Pittsburgh to visit again!
Like Mac said. Anything you could need you can find it at the market.
Extremely rude staff. I wouldn’t waste my time going there again. And will never recommend them to anyone.
Recommended by people at the Frick House, this market was just around the corner from the Frick House. The sandwiches were delicious. The bread was fresh, the meat is Boars Head and all together it made a great sandwich. The side pickle was delicious. They even had A&W root beer, a real treat. We sat outside as this market is in a quaint neighborhood. The local elementary school is across the street. The owners shared the history of the neighborhood with us even giving us a book to look at. It was a great place to have lunch.
If you’re a Mac fan you have to stop!!!!! It’s a must!!! Maggie was absolutely wonderful and openly spoke to me about Mac Miller. She knew I was a fan immediately from my Mac hat! She showed me the props he used in the music video and told me how she watched him grow up and spoke so highly of him! She really let me know he was a wonderful person and was always respectful! Awesome experience and conversation! The food was delicious too! Thanks again Maggie you’re a sweetie! RIP Malcolm your spirit lives on at Frick Park Market for sure!
Great sandwiches, very clean and quick. I’ve been in hundreds of small convenience stores, and have NEVER experienced such outstanding service. The co-owners, John and Maggie, were very outgoing and each took 10+ minutes to talk to me and my friend about Mac Miller. John saw we wanted to sit outside and got up from the table he was sitting at just to let us sit there. If you’re in the area and thinking about going, you must stop. You will not regret it.
Simply put: Big City Professionalism, Small Town Hospitality. Ive been three times, and each has been efficient and patient service. (If youve never been to a city deli you might find having to approach/hail them first when youre ready abrupt, but it isnt rude I assure you.) Theyve delicious sandwiches on offer, and convivial manners. The staff know their product, and can offer suggestions. They check on guests inside and out at the tables, and chat warmly about local events (if you show interest! If not they have been content to allow a quiet lunch.) A worthy and well-loved shop that Ill recommend to any friends and travelers. The AM Breeze, an egg salad with some delicious innovation, has been an order from my crew every time.
Frick Park Market is such a wonderful place. The sandwiches are some of the best in the burgh and the atmosphere is so welcoming. Maggie and John are such great people! I always expect a good joke from John when I walk in there. The chefs dinners on Thursdays are amazing. Also, try the soups...you wont be disappointed!
Great classic deli sandwiches made with Boar’s Head. These are the kinds of neighborhood spots to cherish. I’ve never once seen the owners turn away anyone who wanted to learn about Mac Miller. These are the nicest folks.
I have been frequenting the market for its sandwiches and snacks for about a year. Great food, large selection of snacks, as well as homemade sandwiches and hot meals. Have never been let down by the quality of the food and overall service. The owners and staff are incredibly friendly, and make the market an awesome local spot to frequent. All around a great spot!
I went to Pittsburgh for the first time out of Ohio in honor of Mac Miller and had to stop in. Went in with my son and had an amazing experience. Got to see the turkey sandwich hahahaha. She was so nice and friendly and the breakfast sandwich they recommended was the greatest sandwich I have ever eaten.
Amazing people, amazing food, and amazing atmosphere. The ingredients are fresh and tasty and the snack selection is generous. Owners are fantastic and welcoming people and service was brilliant. I went for the first time with some friends who are residents or the neighborhood (and the owners know them very well) and I was treated like family. Very heavy Pittsburgh tradition in the actual store. Mac’s DJ was even there during my visit today. Nothing but positivity from FPM.
We ate lunch there from a recommendation from an attendant at the Frick Museum. We had three adults and a four year old child. They could not do enough to please us. They were super friendly and the food was very tasty. It was a nice experience at this market/deli/eatery.
Awesome little spot. Highly recommend.
Mac brought me here. Owners are really down to earth. Service was excellent and the food was quick and excellent. Just make sure to have cash on you cause they only accept cash but the have an ATM right outside.

Frick Park Market starts with the people...John and Maggie are just good people. Then there are all those who shop and stop by....the neighbors are and neighborhood is lovely and welcoming. And, finally its products....lunch, breakfast and dinners are available and amazing. If you need to order foods for a special occasion or holiday, they got it covered. Need a particular food or product, just ask. Frick Park Market has a long tradition of warm and inviting neighborhood gathering space, and the owners pride themselves on being genuinely service-oriented.
Kind people and the most delicious sandwich 😋 RIP Mac
WONDERFUL people. The owners were so sweet & kind. Definitely stopping again when I’m back in Pittsburgh. Long live Mac ❤️
Best family owned deli in all of Pittsburgh and the surrounding area! We live out of state but make it a point to stop by here for the sandwiches and service when in Pittsburgh. The owners are extremely hospitable and you cant go wrong with any of the sandwiches whipped up! Look forward to seeing you guys again next time in town!
Im a little late with this one but I live in upstate NY and I stopped here last year the morning after seeing the Steelers dominate the Browns to grab a sandwich before hitting the road back to NY and I gotta say it was the best sandwich Ive ever had and the owners were very generous to us as well. They gave us some mixed nuts to munch on for free. Not to mention Mac Miller (whom Im a huge fan of) filmed his music video Frick Park Market here which is actually why I went in to check the place out and the lady said she still has props from it but I didnt want to be bothersome about it. I will definitely be going back next time I make a trip back to Pittsburgh.
