I went into this store and the cashier left me standing at the cash register for 10 min to sweep the store instead of waiting on the customers.I waited so long I eventually just walked out of the store with nothing.Very disrespectful no regards for the customer!

Smithfield News is a Pittsburgh classic. One of the few 24/7 places anywhere. Local, downtown feel. Owners and staff are good people. Im a regular there, and you should be too. Support locally owned businesses!

Honestly this place gets a bad rap, but I understand it. Def some sketchy clientele but the workers are always super chill and down to earth. Its a great place to quickly pick up something you need and they carry a lot of snacks and soda you cant get at other places in the area. 99 cent 2 liters as well.

Smithfield News has been under new management for a while. They have really cleaned the place up and their selection is astounding. The Deli serves fresh hot food all day long.

Quite convenient place for quick snack or munchies when I was going to school at The Art Institute in downtown Pittsburgh. It was 1.5 blocks away. This store has everything from pre-packaged fresh fruit (in single serving or bigger trays to pieces of fruit) & handmade hoagies & bags of $1 candy & slushies- drinks & some frozen microwavable foods too. Honestly this place has a little bit of everything

I have been going to this store for more than 15 years now and I used to absolutely love the service given by the stores associates. I used this store as a teenager, as a college student, a masters student, and while working in my career. It wasnt until a couple of months ago that I started noticing some really shady and unresponsive characters working and operating the registers. In December, I had purchased a couple of items and didnt notice until I was already out of the city that I was also charged $8 for something that I didnt even purchase. I also used a credit card once there and noticed that the cashier was acting really suspicious with my card, looking at the back 3 digit security number etc.. What completely turned me away from this store for good is when the store associate refused to give me a voucher for the automatic lottery machine. I had put $20 into the lottery machine on Saturday morning 01/16/2016 around 7:30 am. The machine was apparently out of paper so it refused to print out my tickets, give me a cash voucher, of my money back in anyway. The machine had informed me to let the cashier know about the issue so that I could collect my money. When I approached the 2 cashiers (young lady and an older gentleman) about the issue they told me that there was nothing that they could do about it and that I could either a, wait a couple of hours for the boss to arrive, or b, leave the gentleman my name and phone number so that the boss could give me a call when he does arrive. I was never even given an apology or their names, card, contact information, or anything else. I waited for the boss to contact me but he never did. If this is the way that this store does business and operates, I strongly suggest that they get investigated. I STRONGLY recommend that everyone stays away from this place unless you dont mind being taken advantage of, disrespected, having your money stolen, and having your credit/debit card numbers copied/cloned. I promise to spread the word. Have a wonderful day!!!Best Regards,Carlo Salvatore Rocco

I have been here a few times and I always feel uncomfortable. The clientele are somewhat suspicious and sometimes even the employees. Prices are rarely listed and deal stickers are updated infrequently. Dirt is abundant inside. It used to be better three years ago so hopefully they can get their act together. The reason I didnt give it 1 star is because they do carry a good selection of drinks and snacks that might not be found at 7-11/cvs/rite aid.

Apparently at this location there are three sets of prices, cash, debit, and credit card prices. Totally illegal according to Visa/ MasterCard regulations but they do it anyway. The owner should lose his licence to use credit cards if you ask me. Wont be going back to this place.

Your people told me the ear buds had a microphone. When I pointed out they didnt I was told there was nothing they could do because I used a debit card and the whole time the lady waiting on me was talking on their phone. So unprofessional. Ill never buy there again
