Im so glad Pittsburgh has Firecracker! The shops selection of fabric, patterns and notions is wonderful. Erin (as well as everyone Ive encountered there) has always been extremely friendly and helpful. Firecracker is a gem.
What a gem!The owner/buyer for the shop has incredible taste and Im always inspired by the prints. Where else can you find cool prints like these? I have sent friends and family to Firecracker Fabrics and not one has been disappointed. The people that work there are knowledgable and friendly too. I highly recommend this fabric shop.
Ive ordered from them twice now. In my first order one of my fabric cuts was wrong and I was promptly sent a replacement, which was absolutely fantastic. In my most recent order even with the shipping delays usps is facing it came very quickly. All in all very wonderful place. Will continue to order from them a lot!
Great selection of fabrics and patterns!
Hands down my favorite fabric store in Pittsburgh (or anywhere!). A woman-owned business that not only offers an incredible variety of fabrics and patterns, but is connected to Cut-n-Sew Studio next door to offer sewing classes for all skill levels! Such a quality mix of prints, quilting cottons, apparel fabrics, and more! Prices are reasonable, especially for the sewing supplies. They offer a great mix of indie patterns, very inclusive of all sizes and styles. They have a strong social media presence and recently launched an online website that makes buying even easier! The owner hosts maker hangs to foster a wonderful community of creators.Additionally, during COVID, Firecracker Fabrics jumped into the front lines, offering kits with materials to make masks and organizing mask-making efforts.
I love this gem of a fabric shop! It’s so much more than that though! Unique and fun fabrics, a veritable bevy of indie sewing patterns, many of which are size inclusive, thread, notions, embroidery kits, sewing related enamel pins, and a welcoming atmosphere await you at Firecracker Fabrics. This little store packs a lot of punch. I’m impressed at the variety of substrates available-quilting Cotton, flannel, Canvas, rayon, linen, corduroy, double gauze, and more!I always leave with more than I went for!
Its not the cheapest, but thats not the point. They sell high quality materials and projects that are designed to last. The store is very oriented towards slow fashion, which simply is more expensive than fast fashion. The staff know what theyre talking about, they are knowledgeable and helpful, its a wonderful place to shop. If youre looking for high-quality materials for sewing, or for a space to sew, you cant go wrong here.
I adore this shop. They have a wide variety of fabrics, patterns, tools and notions. Theyre super friendly, too. If you like to sew, you need to check out this shop!
Little store, filled to the brim with adorable fabrics and a million patterns. Focuses on contemporary clothing, but there are some gems for quilters too. The neighboring sewing studio looked amazing as well!
I just walked in randomly for some info about a project Im working on for my Vocal Coaching Studio and I was not only treated with respect and friendliness but the young Woman who helped me referred me to another store to get a product they didnt carry. We need to support these small businesss so they dont go extinct. I need to measure and gather info but I will be back: and I will be referring my clients. Best - Jen
I am a novice learning to sew my own clothes and came across this shop while searching for a local place to buy apparel fabric. I am very happy that I stopped by and am now a repeat customer! The owner is very knowledgeable and helpfully guides me to fabrics suitable for projects I have in mind. I was also excited to see paper versions of indie patterns by designers such as Tilly and the Buttons, which have been so much easier for me to follow than mainstream patterns. Im on my third project and already making things that I feel proud to wear out thanks to the books and patterns carried in this shop as well as help choosing the right fabrics. I think a trip here is well worth it for a beginner compared to a big chain store.
Fabrics are beautiful and stylish, owner knows her stuff, and the classes next door are incrediblyInformative.
Erin and Natalie at Firecracker Fabrics are amazing to work with. Because of their background and experience working with indie sewing patterns and understanding the challenges of working with different fabrics they can help guide a new sewist or more experienced seamstress in their pattern and fabric selection. New sewists are often overwhelmed by selecting patterns, fabrics and notions; they will help make your shopping experience great! Beautiful and fun assortment of fabrics!
Wowowow. This is a fantastic textiles store and workspace, huge selection, amazing employees. I wish that I lived closer!
Great selection of fabrics for my wifes business, Totes Obi Designs, and the staff is so friendly, fun & customer focused. It is always worth the drive!

Super helpful staff. When I wasnt sure what kind of knit fabric to pick for a project the staff helped me narrow it down to a few solid choices.
