Cool spot for RPG, CCG, table top, and board games along with dice, miniatures, and books. The knowledgeable staff can direct you to any gaming need you have. There are fewer and fewer shops like this and if games and small businesses are important to you, this is the place to visit.

This place is a little hard to find but if youre looking for anything related to board games this is the place to shop! I mainly come here for their huge selection of Table Top RPG miniatures and painting supplies, but they also have a wide selection of dice sets in all sorts of colors. Come down on Sundays when parking is free!

They have everything you need for RPGs, including a play room. They have good board games too.

The smaller urban space and broad range of interests covered necessitates a thoughtful selection, so, they might not always have every unusual figure or supplement you need on hand. However, they make up for this with fast turnaround on special orders. Out-of-this-world customer service and a welcoming, inclusive space for open table games makes it a business worth supporting.

Top notch store with loads of stock and VERY kind and friendly employees. If we lived closer, we would be here more often. Every time we come into the city, we make a special stop here to visit and also their comic book store across the street. We are always happy with the selection and have a nice chat while there. We have also gotten good deals on clearance items as well. We will continue to come back and shop here when we have the opportunity.

Great selection on dice, singles and sets. They go above and beyond there to find you what you’re looking for, and all in all it is one of the nicest gaming stores I’ve ever been to, with some of the nicest employees. Worth braving Oakland for!

Phantom of the Attic is the one of the best hobby and tabletop game stores in the city. The staff is always quick to make suggestions or help you find something. They can order an item if they dont have it. Its fun stopping in regularly to check what interesting used RPG items theyve got in since the last time. Phantom also hosts Magic: the Gathering, Dungeon Crawl Classics, and Dungeons & Dragons events.

Every Phantom of the Attic location is great. The staff is always knowledgeable and friendly. They dont talk down to you and seem to really enjoy the conversations of like minded individuals. Not your typical nerd shop that talks down to you and makes you feel inferior because you misspoke and dont know something. If only they would open a vintage video game store....

Great little game shop with a wide variety of items. I go there for Friday Night Magic (MTG); they organize the drafts very well, and the players that attend are friendly and very welcoming to newer players.

A small shop, but one with excellent selection. The staff is friendly and quite open. Whether one needs help finding something, or has more general questions to be answered they are quick to oblige.The back room is dedicated to miniatures, mostly of the Warhammer variety, and has a good-sized table open to play on. I went there for beginners necessities and was quickly directed to supplies I would need, without any attempt to upsell me into extras, and given solid recommendations on specific glue, paints, etc. that have proven themselves very accurate.

Parking is a little more challenging because of the neighborhood, but its great for people who live or work in Oakland. They also have game demo days but I actually havent attended one of those.

This is such an awesome game store to come to. Its easily worth the walk (or bus ride) from north Oakland, and the workers are both knowledgeable and friendly. They have a great selection of board games and miniatures within the store, but in addition to their selection of products, are more than willing to place an order for you if necessary. I plan to continue frequenting this store until I graduate.

My first time at the Phantom of the Attic, I was blown away with all the games, books, figurines and maps. While I was there a couple game started and of course stayed a few hours to watch. The staff were nice. If you cant find what youre looking for theyll order it. Even help you and call you if it comes available.

Great LGS for magic players. Prize support is aimed more at a less competitive environment. If youre looking for a fun and casual spot to play some cards in the Oakland area, this is your spot. Id love to see a little more support for competitive play. But all in all its a solid experience. Two thumbs up.

Phantom has a few things going for it that makes it a great destination for gaming. Speaking as a Warhammer 40k player and tabletop RPG collector, their selection is really, really good. The amount of obscure, old, and specialist tabletop games is awesome to a collector like me, and they do a really good job of keeping hard to get 40k stuff in stock.

Phantom of the Attic has been feeding my tabletop hobby addictions for the last 20 years. Tabletop RPGs, CCGs or miniature wargames, Phantom has always been my go-to place. Anything that they dont have in stock, they are always happy to order. If what you are looking for is out of print, their used section is extensive and always rotating. Speaking of, they also give good prices for buying your old stuff. That said, the staff is actually their best asset. They are super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

Extremely helpful staff and they will remember you and your tastes in games too!!But I have to say if your hours say say open until 7pm stay open until 7pm.
