Never disappointed with the customer service at the McKnight road location. Vince you have a great staff, your leadership showed. From the lovely young lady at the front desk (sorry I forgot your name) to the gentleman who does the installation. Everyone works together to make it a great experience. I am sitting in Atlanta Georgia with out a uhaul to drive. They made my reservation for a truck for me and when I got to my destination everyone from uhaul completely abandoned me. I have taken $200 worth of Uber’s to different locations and ended up having to book a truck with Penske. I have been on the phone for hours trying to reach someone. Do not trust uhaul.
If I could give 0 stars, I would.Dont make any plans if youre trying to get a trailer hitch installed. I scheduled an installation after being referred by several of my friends, only to be texted the afternoon before my appointment (not even a decent phone call) that the part was not available yet. I had a vacation planned 5 days later that I was counting on using the newly installed hitch for. Thanks for ruining my vacation U-Haul.It seems like the company is set up to deflect any customers from directly contacting any one location. I called the store number only to be routed to their national call center, no mater what options I chose just trying to get a living person on the line. Then I had to wait an average of 30-50 minutes on hold before anyone bothered picking up the phone.If parts are not already at a location, or will not arrive in time, DO NOT ALLOW AN APPOINTMENT TO BE MADE!!
I made an appointment to have a tow hitch installed on my car two weeks ago. I tried calling this location (where my appointment was scheduled) for 2 days straight to just get an idea of how long the process would take. No one answered. For 2 days. I called at least 10 times. I haul my toddler out to the other side of town just to arrive and be told they couldnt do the install because there was a part on backorder and they didnt know when it would be in.Im obviously upset no one bothered picking up a phone to give me a heads up. I was told they are short staffed and that another location would just tell me the same thing.Okay- maybe. But my hope is another location wouldve had the decency to call me in advance. Now I have no idea how Im going to get my $400+ since they cant answer their phone.Very, very disappointed.
Not the place to get your propane tanks filled!A couple of years ago, an employee refused to fill my propane tank here because he thought the 04-10 code (which means it was made in April 2010) meant it was 15 years old. Two days ago another employee refused to fill that same tank, saying he and the manager would go to prison since the tank was over ten years old. Thats the law in Canada, but not in Pennsylvania. Another U-Haul store within ten miles filled it up without a problem. And an online chat today on the U-Haul website confirmed that my tank was NOT too old to be refilled. The manager of this store should learn the rules and then teach them to his employees.When my two propane tanks get too old to be refilled next year, you can bet bet I wont be buying replacements at this store.
I was given a truck with no gas. It was explained that if I put gas in I will be reimbursed. That apparently is NOT what the contract says so I was misinformed. The U-haul supervisor I spoke to did not seem to care that I didn’t know this. My complaint is I was given a truck with an empty tank of gas. I had no way to determine how much I would use so I put in what I thought would cover it. The rule to not reimburse what I paid on top of what I paid for the rental is unfair to customers. Apparently the U-haul organization needs the money more than their customers.
The big guy at the desk need not take his frustration on customers. If you dont like the job, get another one but dont scream at your customers for showing up at your store and giving you their business.
I had a last minute emergency bc the moving company I hired and paid deposit to never showed up. When I walked into the ubaul frantic, Robin was there to take care of me. She was blessing on this day. She helped me select a truck and get in the truck, etc. I believe she stayed a bit later than her shift to make sure I was all set. Thank you Robin! You saved me yesterday, big time!!!
ZERO STARS!!! I spoke to Nancy Bostross on 4/10/2021 and paid in full for a trailer hitch to be put on my car. May appointment date was set to put in on my car on 4/24/2021. I showed up for my appointment only to be told that they didnt have the part but had rescheduled my appointment for 4/29/21 and I should wait to hear from someone. Since then, I have called the U-Haul McKnight Road store several times and cant actually speak to a person but only sit on hold FOREVER. I have left a voicemail and an email for the store manager Vince Faust and I have left TWO voice mails for the owner, Elizabeth Hertzler. I HAVE GOTTEN NO RESPONSE FROM ANY OF THEM! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
Be warned and do not try to get a trailer hitch installed here. I paid but have been waiting over a month with no end in sight. Your scheduled appointment means nothing. No one ever answers the phone and we visited twice based on our scheduled dates just to be told our hitch was given away and they have no idea when one will come in. Apparently if you don’t come in immediately they give it away but they don’t call you when the part comes in for you to know that. I finally just bought one online at e-trailers and installed it myself. But now I’m trying to figure how to get my 400 dollars back after trying to contact them every way short of carrier pigeon. Multiple frustrated people were in the same situation when we attempted to have ours installed. The receptionist was kind but seemed very frazzled.

After calling this morning asking if I could exchange previously purchased medium boxes for small boxes, I was turned away at the door by the two employees. They said they didnt know how to do store credits and wouldnt help at all. Both were not wearing masks and were extraordinary unhelpful. I will never go back. Reported to the Allegheny Health Department for CoVid 19 violation.

I ordered a hitch for my 2015 Subaru Forester, was charged immediately, the appointment was made for 8 days out. 1 day before my appointment I receive a voicemail saying that my hitch is on back order. I was unable to return their call and had to speak with operators on their national call line. These operators were unable to help me. I had to drive to the location due to that, just to find out what their alternative products are. I am told in person that other UHaul locations in the area *may* have a product for my car, but the salesman CANT get in touch with anyone at nearby stores. I am told that hopefully theyll have gotten a hitch by my appointment time the following day, that theyd call me to let me know. They do not call me OR return my calls the next day after again talking to operators on the national line who CANNOT HELP ME. I go to my appointment and they dont have the part, Im talking to a different salesman than the day before. Again, they say theyll try to get me one from nearby. Finally, the evening after I should have had the hitch installed, salesman #2 call me to tell me that theyre still searching and that theyll try to get one for me this week. The same thing salesman #1 said a day before. I am leaving town and have arrangements to borrow a trailer because I think I will have a hitch on my car. IN FACT, I PAID FOR A HITCH AND THE INSTALLATION. I got a refund after having an operator on the national line do a search within 50 miles and found that NO HITCHES for my car exist in the area UHauls. Why did it take 3 days to learn that? Why was I unable to call the store directly? Why did I get charged for something that UHaul did not have for me? Why did they allow me to make an appointment, and thus travel plans based on that appointment, when this piece did not exist?

The worst experience. Drove out to get hitch installed and told it is not in stock. No communication. Promised by UHAUL that the manager would call me the next day. Never got call. Only sorry that the lowest number of stars is 1.
I started my reservation online, and finished it at the store. Everything was quick and the guy who served me was professional and competent. The prices really cant be beat. Drop off was no problem and took about 3 minutes. Thank You!

My experience with this company in general over the past week has been been despicable, I would be leaving negative stars currently if that were an option. It begins with the fact that I was told by an employee from a different location that they would have no problem extending my reservation due to the fact the elevator broke and we were unable to complete our task on the day we had the truck reserved. Now I’m finding out from a customer service representative (who had a repulsively horrible attitude and should be fired) that he never had the jurisdiction to do so and that I should have contacted them in the first place WHICH I WAS NEVER TOLD TO DO SO. Now I am getting TRIPLE charged for my reservation even though it was completely from their own incompetence and they are refusing to do a single thing about it. I refuse to ever use U-Haul for my moving needs again, this company is nothing but a sham.
Twice in a week they “accidentally” overcharged me for two separate rentals. GET YOUR RECEIPT BEFORE YOU LEAVE! I was told my email was coming when I left with final charges..... 20 hours later and an additional days charge, they finally completed my return. I will not ever use this U-Haul again (I live 2 miles away). Goodbye U-haul I’ll take my money elsewhere until you straighten up!
My husband and I rented a trailer to move some items. As we where there the guy was giving us a hard time about the trailer. So I started to look up the information in the manual. As I was doing it a older gentlemen with a ascent says to me “ what launguage are you reading that in” trying to insulate me! I could not believe he was really saying that to me!! Yes, we did take off with a trailer so clearly what I was reading was correct!!
I have been to the store four times. The first three times the sales people were fantastic. Actually exceptional. The forth time I met the undynamic duo((Dustin and Sheri). Rude and not very helpful. In fact they were the worst customer service people I have met in a very long time. I will definitely go back, just call ahead and see who is working.
These guys didnt have my box order but took care of me on the spot. We also noticed that there was no locking mechanism for the hatch during the inspection so one was provided to me on site. I also asked to use the bathroom and for some water which was also given to me with a smile on the reps face with no charge. THIS IS CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ITS BEST! Keep it up yall!

Horrible job on a hitch install. They didn’t have the right tool so they cut up my frame to get the hitch on. Total amateurs. Should have said they didn’t have the right tool but they went forward instead. No I’m left wondering if my frame is compromised.
Thor is an awesome manager!!! We went in to get the hard ware put on to attach a uhual trailer and needed a trailer one size bigger than what we reserved. He hooked us up and saved us so much money! What a great guy who really knows how to please his customers!!!
We got the truck that we needed. They got us processed and out the door quickly. Good customer service!
This location didnt have the truck reservation that U-Haul said would be ready upon arrival, and besides telling us to go elsewhere, didnt do anything to make the situation right. Service representatives werent as professional as expected and the overall quality of the store was low. Would not recommend.
