We starting buying from this folks a few years ago, and now wont go anywhere else. They have a wonderful selection, amazing service department and have always been friendly and fair. Its nice to work with a local company.
I purchased a Stove top, micro wave, refrigerator and oven from this place about three years ago. Cant even get a return phone call. Very dissappointing.
Theses folks are the best! Everyone is so helpful. The lady on the phone is the best, sales folks are awesome and the crew is efficient and things get done properly. I’ve used them for several types of things from washing machine repair to my latest dishwasher purchase which I did sigh unseen and it was seamless ..thanks guys for making my life easier, won’t go anywhere else
I am a landlord. I needed a stove asap. I called around and because of Covid it was hard to find out in a timely fashion. Downeast helped me get one in under a week and the guy who delivered tot he second story were great! They even removed the old stove. Money well spent!
Best experience I ever had purchasing appliances. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, great selection and in-house service department
Great company! Fast, friendly, and affordable! They fixed my washing machine in 15 minutes and its as good as new.
The service man came to fix my icemaker that was spitting out bits of Styrofoam when the crushed ice mode was selected. The guy cleaned up some calcium deposits in the ice bin and called it good. Charged me 99 bucks to wipe out the ice storage bin.I called the business to complain and was told he would do some research on the the issue and get back to me! Never heard from them again,,,big ripoff! Please, go somewhere else for your appliance repair or they will rip you off!
Had a home call and they diagnosis in a minute, and gave me a small discount. Very courteous and friendly technician. Y’all made a great first impression.
I wish I had heeded the warnings of others who posted about the terrible service they received from this company. Of the three items I requested for service on my oven, only one was completed. The work was performed by the owner, Dan Walker, no less, and the indifference he displayed when I called to express my dissatisfaction was shocking. If a technician has physical limitations which prevent them from completing a requested service, in this case leveling a stove, they should not accept the job. $183.35 for a 30 minute igniter installation on a very basic gas oven. No calibration, no leveling as requested. Charged $80 for a $36 part. This local business clearly cares nothing about their local customers.
Constantly saving me $$Over the last 18 years of home ownership I have called Downeast Appliance for repairs to my dishwasher, range, and washing machine- each time they have offered me the most cost effective solution. The first call I made was for a strange noise coming from the dishwasher after I started a cycle- he charged me just the visit fee as the sound was from a small plastic price tag hanger that was caught in the drain grinder, Then when my dishwasher now 15 years old- it needed a new motor- as the part was no longer available I thought I was going to have to buy a new dishwasher- but Ed thought he recalled one in their stock- and sure enough - he was correct and we have added valuable years to my dishwasher. The range blew the control panel- I was sure I would need to replace the whole thing - again a replacement was still available and the range will live another decade. I really want to buy new appliances - but they keep saving the ones I have. Someday I will get a shiny new ......
Downeast provided fast professional service. They fixed my issue and also took the time to explain what they did. Would recommend them to anyone!
My wife and I have purchased many items from Downeast Appliance and love the experience. The owner Mike has more knowledge than any other competitor (especially big box stores.) He guides you through the process effortlessly and like magic the appliance appears at our home.I wouldnt shop any where else!Magically,Phil Smith
I was extremely disappointed in my experience trying to buy a refrigerator from Downeast Appliance and perpetual lies about delivery dates made me feel like a fool for sticking with this company for so long.I was in search of a backordered refrigerator which after calling around was difficult to find sooner than 3 weeks from any appliance store in the area. This was a stressful idea given that our current refrigerator was no longer operational but we were pretty sold on the model and had limitations on dimensions. It seemed too good to be true when Downeast Appliance could get the refrigerator for us in only 10 days. I ordered the fridge and everything seemed to be set. I called to confirm the day before and was told everything was on schedule for delivery the next day. Delivery day comes around and I get a phone call telling me the delivery needed to be pushed back 2 weeks. This was not accompanied with an apology or even a good explanation. They assured me that it was rare for this to happen twice so I stupidly gave them the benefit of the doubt and stuck with the order. I try so hard to support local businesses and really wanted to give them another chance. The second delivery date has come and I received another phone call letting me know that the date has been pushed back yet again. And they still can’t guarantee that this next date will happen either. This was terrible customer service and just straight up lies on projected delivery dates to keep me on the hook. Well this fish is getting off the line. Bought a fantastic fridge at Lowe’s and couldn’t be happier.
Downeast Appliace has never let us down. If we call for service they send someone right away. If we have questions they are knowledgeable and honest. All of our appliances are from Downeast.
Prompt service. Very nice and professional.
Downeast Appliance has always gone above and beyond for our appliance needs. From efficient, quick, and knowledgeable service, to quality new appliances with a stellar delivery need, they are the best appliance company in the greater Portland area. Not to mention that they are a true local family owned and operated business.
First the tech wore dirty shoes in my house. That is just plain rude. 2nd he misdiagnosed the refrigerator so we totally wasted our money. This was after he was in and out in about 5 minutes. ..3rd he broke my ice maker that was working before he came....ugh
The rating I will give you is five out of five stars based on the fact that you dont hesitate to give me the service I deserve. Thank you so much.
Said would show up between 12-2 got here at 2:10pm. The oven wouldn’t shut all the way because the henge was bent and was informed would need new henges which was already something i knew. I asked the tech if he would be leaving today without the oven door being able to shut and his exact words were “That right 100 % right I will be leaving here today without your oven door being able to shut and I’m leaving here now you can find someone else to fix your appliances for now on because I can’t please you “ I said what do you mean? He said “The last time I came your home the microwave door didn’t shut and you said your not going to charge me are you,? I wasn’t going to charge you anyways he says. That was because the first time he came he put some lubricant on the microwave latch was here 5 min and left and said the microwave door is fine. Which it wasn’t fine it still wasn’t working properly so having him come back a second time to fix a problem that should of been fixed the first time I didn’t want to be billed twice. Not to mention the time slots that they have set up waiting for arrival want to make sure the valued time waiting is not a waste. I did ask him what did this visit have to do with the prior one and he said “Bye”. Unbelievable! Bottom line the tech was unprofessional with his comments and conduct and would never recommend this company to anyone.
I just got my gas-powered clothes dryer replaced through Downeast. I want to preface this by saying that, before our dryer broke, we tried six months ago to get it replaced together with our washer through a big box store. But the box store through which we ordered would not remove or install a gas dryer. They required us instead to have a gas technician present at removal and at installation to get the job done. Because the box store would only promise delivery within a four-hour window, we were left with no option to get the removal and installation done in one trip.At a loss for what to do, we waited until we had no other option. Our dryer finally broke for good on Friday night. I called Downeast Saturday morning thinking that they might have a better option than the box store, even though I anticipated they might be more expensive. It turns out they did have a better option, and yet it wasnt more expensive. They made an appointment to remove my old dryer and install my new dryer between 1 pm and 3 pm on Monday. I specifically asked whether they could install and remove a gas dryer and they promised to have a technician capable of doing so on the team.A team of 3 arrived shortly after 1 PM today (Monday) with a gas dryer, which they installed after removing my old gas dryer for a removal / install fee of $90. I was so impressed with the team that showed up. Prior to the dryer finally breaking, we had been having trouble for years with getting our clothes dry enough. The team diagnosed the problems for me (a combination of having a PVC vent pipe, which attracts lint and therefore tends to clog up, and a broken outside vent flap, which lets moisture in, creating further lint clogging). *At no extra charge* they installed some new non-PVC flexible venting for the dryer, which they estimated would last for about a year. They also provided a number for me to call to get a fixed metal pipe and new vent flap installed at some later date when my budget allows. They also did not balk when, after pulling out my old gas dryer, the gas shut-off valve was not visible. They checked outside the house and then looked around the basement trying to trace it. It turns out this valve had been covered over by sheetrock behind the dryer. They worked with me to pull the sheetrock free to uncover the gas shut-off valve, and they removed the old PVC pipe and the broken sheetrock *at no extra charge*.
Great staff..very knowledgable..no pressure
Didnt like anything...built house and all appliances were stratched and replaced dishwasher panel...thats it!!! Months now in house and still stratched appliances. .not ok to do that to customers..keep calling and no fix yet
They were here 30 minutes after me calling and fixed the problem in less than 10 minutes. The repair man was so nice!
My experience with Downeast Appliance has been extremely negative. They sold a product for a dishwasher that malfunctioned shortly after purchase and they would not back up their product. My complaint was met with smugness and laughter. I would not recommend Downeast to anyone.
VERY attentive
Got a new dish washer
