A week ago I wrote a review on this location. I was irritated to say the least. The next day the GM of Mackin’s contacted me about my experience. The result is, they took my car into another facility and the people there did an amazing job. The car looks great. I still will not go back to the N. Denver location and the review of my experience stands. Thanks to the great people at The NE 65th location my car is right. They know customer service.
Caught a thief while they were cutting out my catalytic converter. Mackin’s was able to reinstall it and get my truck back to me the same day. They went above and beyond in service and have found themselves a loyal customer for that.
I was in a front end collision and took it to Makins North. I usually take my Makins Hollywood but they were booked out for a month.Katie was my contact there, She was professional, kept in touch both by calling and text, and let me know about the process.(State farm ended up writing off the car and gave me a fair price.)I wouldnt hesitate using Makins North again.

I worked with Mark at Mackins and had the best service and experience possible. They called regularly about updates, worked with my insurance, and did a great repair and well within the timeline they estimated - my car is good as new after being rear-ended while stopped at a light. Plus they gave me back my car way cleaner than I left it - inside and outside. There was a small tweak needed after the repair, and they fixed it in under an hour. Hopefully no more accidents and my car wont ever need repairs again, but if it does I will return to Mackins, and I will recommend it to my friends and family as well. They worked quickly to replace a stolen catalytic converter, and coordinated easily with insurance and rental car. Even sent someone out to my house to help with a (seemingly unrelated) issue the next morning. Everyone was friendly and professional and made it super quick and easy to get my car fixed. Hopefully I dont have any need to go back, but if I do I know Ill be in good hands!

Just picked up my 2005 GTO/Holden Monaro after having the bumper cover removed and rehung they did a great job and realigned my hood as well everything looks great only thing that could have made it better is if i could have afforded a new bumper cover because this one has some broken tabs that hold it in place . They washed the car and cleaned the interior as well i will definitely be using mackins again if i ever need a body shop
Excellent body shop. My 3 yo nice found a sharpie in our 2016 Sienna and decided.to use the car as an art canvas. Dash, doors, seats...a total mess. Mackins fixed it up good as new. They even fixed a loose fender for no charge as a bonus. I have used these guys several times. Great shop, highly recommend.
My Mazda 6 was rear-ended about 2 years ago. I chose Mackin because they were reasonably convenient, were recommended by my insurer, and the reviews seemed positive. The process started smoothly enough. Dropped my car off, went over the damage with the adjuster, picked up my rental and was off. I asked them to quote a repair to some additional damage, since they were going to be mixing paint anyways.They kept me abreast of the progress of the car, sending claim estimates with photos showing the various areas of repair. I called several times to ask about the other repair I had requested, but the agent I worked with never responded.The work was completed fairly quickly and I received the call to pick up my car. The first thing I noticed was that the painting was excellent. There was no noticeable fade from the original to the new paint. If you need basic body work, like dings and scrapes, filled and painted without any other work, I recommend them readily. If you need more in-depth repairs? Read on.After I admired the paint, I did a quick review of the repairs. I noticed the trunk did not close properly. The latch on the trunk scraped against the plastic trim piece above the lip of the trunk when closed. The trunk would stay closed and locked, but the latch was chewing up that trim piece every time I opened and closed the trunk. There was also a gap between the bumper and trunk that wasnt present before. I pointed this out and received a shrug and a it meets spec.I took the car and brought it home for a deeper inspection. I found more and more issues. There were multiple missing and broken clips that held the interior trim on. The spoiler was not mounted centered on the lip of the trunk and was slightly higher than it should have been. Even more glaringly obvious was they completely forgot to install badges on the trunk.By chance I took it in for service at Tonkin Mazda, and asked them to check everything else. They replaced most of the missing/broken clips, confirmed that the trunk should definitely not be scraping the trim piece, and by the way, the reverse lights were burnt out. Also, they mentioned there was a noise coming from my front seat that sounded like something stuck in the worm gear.So I took it back to Mackin and they, to their credit, installed new bulbs, reinstalled the badges and tried to vacuum under my seat to fix whatever was happening there. Spoiler: it did not fix anything. They did not address the trunk latch scraping the trim piece, claiming that the repairs met spec and it must have been like that before. They refused point blank to do anything about the misaligned spoiler. But I got my badges, so I guess thats okay?Shortly after my last visit to them, one of the rear seat release latches just fell out of its slot in the top of the trunk. I looked closely at it and noticed they had bent the sheetmetal in an effort to re-install it, and eventually left it sort of held in place by dreams and wishes rather than the usual mechanical connection.And even more recently, I discovered broken clips that hold the rear wiring harness to the trunk hinge. These are hidden away behind the trunk liner so Id never noticed them, but it explains a rattle I hadnt been able to track down until now. That was the final straw and what inspired me to post this.Some of this is nitpicky, but when I add it all up, it equals a careless approach to details. Not carefully removing parts during tear-down. Not aligning the spoiler correctly when drilling the mounting holes. Forgetting to install all the trim clips and badges. Literally the only thing they did right was the paint work.They were courteous, but theres a difference between courteous and respectful. I cant say I felt they respected my property or me.
I took my Kia K900 to this business from a collision for front bumper repair. The time line ended up being almost 2 months (not exactly Mackins fault) due to Kia having issues ordering parts. When I took my car in I had mentioned fogging of head lights and was completely ignored by Mark. His favorite answer was I dont know. So I stopped communicating with him and went direct to insurance with photos. I had to fight with him to have my headlight and fog light replaced. Once I got the car back they intentionally (per Kia) turned off the parking sensors because they didnt know how to calibrate them and called and said my car was ready. When I picked up my car my GPS wasnt working, satellite radio, etc. I noticed the light for the sensors was off. I turned it on and they immediately went off with warnings that I was about to hit something even when I was driving on the interstate. I took my car right back and they said they would have it fixed in just a moment. An hour and a half later (and being accosted by a homeless person in the lobby) I saw Mark with my car out front raising and lowering the back sunshade. I asked a guy inside what was going on and he said that hes trying to program the sensors. At that point I wanted my car OUT OF THERE HANDS. He just came in and said he has no clue as to whats going on. At that point I said, I need to have service performed on my car anyway so Ill take it to Kia. And he agreed and Kia invoiced Mackins. Mackins does OK cosmetic work (my partner just got his SUV back and it was in the same condition where the entire electrical system wigged out) but they are inept at handing anything that has to do with the software of the car. I had to leave my car at Kia for 3 days to get everything completed. I will not use this body shop EVERY AGAIN. Folks remember. Its Oregon law that says you can hire any body shop and your insurance must agree. You DONT have to use there preferred shops. I never will again.

Our pick-up got a small dent in the recent ice storm. Mackins fixed it in very fast time, it looks perfect.
I had the pleasure of working with James. He was so nice and extremely professional given circumstances out of his control during my repairs. Even with an extended repair time, I was happy just because I knew they were taking the time to make sure everything was just as it should be. I WILL be returning for future services and would highly recommend to others needing auto body services.
I have gone to Mackin several times over the past 20 years. Every experience has been awesome! This time was extremely warm and personable. Mark and his team not only fixed my truck but they also cleaned what hadnt been moved, washed, touched since March! I was so excited about the service and the wash that I almost screamed when I saw they had cleaned the inside as well!! I was really grateful as I was about to head to the nearest car wash place. My insurance company directed me to this company. The original estimate was half of what they actually charged my insurance company. If I had to pay for work on my own that would not have been ok. Great work great service but the cost was questionable.
Once again they exceed my expectations. The staff is gracious, friendly, professional, and extremely helpful. They genuinely minimize the frustration of having a damaged car by going out of their way to make the car rental and repair process easy. They treat the most common person (me) with the level of concierge service one would expect from a high end hotel; without expecting $100 tips. Though I hope I dont have any more repair needs in the near future, any needs I might have will certainly go to Mackins. Thanks team.
Honest folks. Went in for a minor ding in my hood. Lady there said it was a paintless repair and while she could give me an estimate, she didnt want to take my money as it would be more costly for their shop to fix it. She then gave me a referral for a paintless mobile shop. I thought that was very honest and I appreciated her help.

We took our car into Mackins for repair following an accident recently. They worked with our insurance company, provided a very clear assessment, updated us throughout the repair, finished on time, and met their estimate. Plus, the car looks great and they warranty all of their work. We coordinated with Mark, he was very professional and kind. I had a generally awful experience with these folks after my Toyota Tacoma was hit by an Uber driver while it was parked in front of my house. The truck meant a lot to me as I bought it over 15 years ago and have driven it over 150,000 miles without any major issues. Tacomas are well known for their reliability and my truck remained that way with regular upkeep and maintenance. Thats why I was shocked to hear, after it was at their shop for over a week, that they refused to work on it because it was too old. They claimed that they didnt want to work on something that might have issues down the road because they were afraid I would blame them. Ive never met folks at an auto shop that wouldnt take free insurance money to fix components on a truck thats about as straightforward as they get.This shop has poor communication and the staff seems to be very disorganized. I called on a Friday to tell them I would have it towed there first thing Monday morning. When I called to confirm Monday morning, they had no record of my conversation, so I had to start the process over again. When the tow truck driver attempted to drop my car off about 90 minutes later, he called to tell me that they werent expecting it. I, again, had to call the shop and go through my story.Three days later I had an appointment scheduled with them to go over the damages on my truck. The person I was scheduled with was stuck in traffic for four hours and not a single person at the shop had any notes about my truck at all. They told me that they werent sure why this individual had asked me to come in and that they would have him contact me. He never contacted me, I had to call the shop the next day. I, again, explained that I needed them to take a look at the truck and submit damages to the insurance company so we could find out if it could be fixed. He confirmed he would do this for me.They waited until the end of business on. A Friday to tell me that they refused to work on it. All I needed was a complete diagnostic sent to the insurance company and they couldnt even do that. I had to wait until Monday to have my truck towed to another local shop that took care of all of this for me within a few days.Do yourself a favor and avoid the chaos of this place. From the reviews, it sounds like their mechanics are top notch, but if they cant get their front office together then you are far better off taking this to any of the other talented mechanics out there.
Love the over all service! I love that they updated me daily via text and email. They answered all my questions and made sure I was comfortable about everything before they went along and did more work on my vehicle. Did I mention that they were very professional? Yes they were!
This place does a great job and has excellent customer service. My canoe fell half way off my roof rack and caved in my rear passenger door, rear passenger quarter panel, and caused some other miscellaneous damage. I was able to schedule an appointment super fast through my insurance, got a quote in less than 30 minutes, and got to take it back for the repair about a week later. The kept me up-to-date via texts on the progress, and finished the work a day ahead of schedule (it was in the shop for roughly 2 weeks). The end result is flawless. You cant tell it was worked on. Top notch shop all the way around.

They installed a replacement catalytic converter for mine which got stolen. Fast service, 100% fixed, and they even vacuumed the interior.
Mackins was awesome! I was referred to them through an insurance claim and they were one of the nearest shops to my house. They were prompt with getting my car in for an estimate and in for repair. I absolutely LOVE that they text updates every Tuesday and Thursday and they had my car done in one work week! My car was clean on the inside and out upon return, which was a nice surprise. The rental process was seamless as they have a have a contract with Enterprise. Will definitely be headed back if I have any car troubles in the future!

Went in about a busted back tail light which I didnt think would cost all that much to replace. They wanted to charge me $500 to replace the tail light. I couldnt afford that so I looked at how to do it myself. Turns out the part was $125 and took me (I dont know hardly anything about cars) 5 minutes to replace. They wanted to charge me $375 for 5 minutes of labor.Im sure they do great work, but they will try to take advantage of you.

Getting in a fender-bender is never fun, but every time someone hits my car I am at least thankful to have Mackins to take care of my car. These guys rock! I go here for all my service and never have an issue. They are honest and get their work done quickly. I was also recently in an accident and when I got my car back (5 days earlier than expected) they had washed the outside and had the inside detailed-the cleanest my car has been since I bought it! Debbie the office manager is great at explaining things and making sure you know what is going on with your vehicle.
I called and made an appointment to get an estimate. I arrived at the appointment time and within 5 minutes the estimator was observing the damage and within 30 minutes, I had an estimate. I presented the estimate to my insurance co. and was told that they would handle the claim from that point with Mackins. I delivered the vehicle to Mackins on the appointed day, paid the deductible and about a week later received notice that the repair was complete. The work was professionally completed. I would recommend Mackins to anyone who would ask me for a referral.

They still maintain a nice old school hospitality in their work! As long as I’m in Portland and need auto body repair, I’ll go to Mackin on N Denver.

Oh my gosh. I had my car towed to Mackins after an accident in August. And they were AMAZING. So kind and prompt.But they really went above and beyond when I had to take it back to them four months later for some weird noises it was making. Once again they were kind and prompt (and didn’t talk down to me, as so often happens as a woman dealing with mechanics). And they fixed what turned out to be two very minor issues. Without hesitation or trouble. I’m pretty much going to make everyone I know go to them. THANK YOU.

Excellent service, very helpful, always courteous even when I got upset about the insured’s insurance company’s games. I picked up my car this morning and it was beautifully restored to pre-loss perfection. When I went to pay for the repairs, my bank froze my account because of the amount. It took 45 min to get them paid and it was frustrating. Mark was my assigned shop person and he took the time with me to make sure I was all right after the frustration with the bank. He really cared about me as a person and not just a transaction. When I went to get in my car, he had had my car detailed! Above and beyond! Great team at Mackins, everyone was super nice and caring. Fantastic experience for me! I recommend them highly.

Five stars for convenience, quality work, communication, honesty and additional gratitude. I liked that I was able to drop my car off at Mackin’s for repairs, pick up a rental car and talk with the Gieco insurance adjuster all in one trip. Mackin’s kept me updated though text messaging on my cars progress so I was able to know what to expect and could better for pick up. I left valuables and cash in my car that was untouched and when I picked up my car it was detailed inside and out. :)
