I noticed my water heater was out. I called into George Morlan at about 5:30pm and was surprised they could come out the next day! The repairman Dave was very friendly and helpful. He was able to order the part and have it 2nd day air shipped. When the part came to my house, I called them and Dave was able to come back and complete the service call the next day!I would highly recommend George Morlan!

I called George Morlan and a woman answered. She asked me several questions(make, model, how old). I explained that my water in my water heater wasn’t heating. That I tried to follow the instructions to ignite the flame. I explained that I followed the instructions but since I hadn’t done it before I felt uncertain. There was no flame and perhaps it was the igniter switch. She told me I should get a new one. I explained I wanted to have somebody take a look at it first. She told me a service call would cost around $200.00. I told her that was fine. She asked me if I wanted to have somebody come out to just tell me I need a new water heater for $200. I told her I’d feel better knowing what was wrong. She then told me that she would not send somebody. I reminded her she just told me what a service call would cost $200.00. She said she didn’t care and that she can refuse service to me if she wanted to. It seemed obvious to me that my initial business didn’t have enough promise(in the way of dollars). At minimum she was absolutely not interested in helping me. And when I made my understanding clear to her she agreed. I will never buy or use their service. And I will share this story with anyone who brings up there name.

I was very disappointed with my service call for $199. The young gentleman had almost no insight into my problem. For an installer for the supposed Water heater king his answers were was I never seen one of these water tanks or i do not know I am not an electrician. Was told everything looks good and I wired it up right. That will be $199. I suggest Waiting for a real water heater specialist. One who has plumbing and electrical skills database to come out to diagnose your water heater issues. One that doesnt leave you in the same situation you were in, minus 200 bucks of course and having to reopen covers as he didnt even put the foam insulation back in to cover wires.

We have purchased a toilet, showerhead, small parts and now a water heater here. They are always friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and competitive. When we purchased the water heater, we used the phone number listed on the curbside pole for curbside pickup. You are directed to pull around back and they load whatever you purchased for you. Two minutes later I was back on the road with a water heater which beat all other local sources in price by at least $40. We will be return for our next project.

I had a faucet hose break on my KWC faucet and after spending quite a bit of time and buying the wrong hose I finally went back to George Morlan to get help on finding the right part number.We bought this faucet in 2004. Todd was very helpful and was able to go back through all their orders for us and found the invoice that listed the kitchen faucet we bought with the correct part number for the faucet!From there they contacted KWC and verified the correct part number I needed for the hose that was broken. Unfortunately they didnt have it in stock and would have to order direct from KWC and it would take time. So I went looking for it myself online. There were 3 places that SAID they had it in stock. 1 didnt actually have it in stock, 1 their website was down and couldnt place the order and the 3rd couldnt accept a credit card because that part of their website was down.So I went back to George Morlan to order and when I called Todd said you know Ive been thinking and this part is on a limited lifetime warranty. You should call KWC directly. He then sent me a copy of the invoice which is what KWC would need to process the warranty.I just got off the phone with KWC and with the invoice I was able to get this part for free on my warranty. They will ship it directly and it will get here much quicker than going through any third party.Without Todds help I would have paid for this part and not gotten it as soon as I will get it. He did a great job for me.

Looking for bids to replace our old hot water heater. The gentleman who answered the phone asked me how big the space is where the heater currently resides. I didnt happen to have a tape measure in my pocket so I told him I would be back in a minute to get one. When I pick the phone back up, he is yelling, HELLO, ARE YOU THERE?!?, I said yes, I had to run uptairs to get it, before I could finish that sentence he starts in on me, OK, I need the demiensions of the space, demensions of the heater, the model # and the serial # of the tank, write all that down before you call back. It wasnt just his attitude, but his tone, he had zero patience, zero courtesy and he started the whole phone call off with a very condescending tone.I just said sorry to have bothered you, bye and hung up. I hope you read this fellow, if you cant treat fellow human beings, let alone potential customers better than this, you need some time off for a major attitude adjustment.

For years my family has been customers of George Morlan. I am finishing part II of a 3 part upgrade and am enjoying the wonderful products I purchased from this store. As of recent, I ran into a issue and had to put it on hold due to fire vac and other issues related to COVID. When I made a return to finding a solution, DON was right there and created an outcome better that I suggested. I was so surprised and appreciative! I know why my folks and relations always said to shop at George Morlans, they take good care of their customers. I plan to begin part III in January and indeed I will be supporting this wonderful business. Not only is their customer satisfaction tops, but their expertise in products they sell is impeccable. My sinks, faucets and all other merchandise is beautiful and side steps the normal look at Home Depot and other stores too. Thank you Don and GM for all your help and expertise!

Ive been in twice in the last two weeks to buy fittings for a plumbing project. Both times the employees that helped me were surly and seemed quite put out. If they dont want to help you then they should give you access to the fittings instead of making you ask an employee for them.My advice: figure out what you need and buy them online and save yourself from their attitude.

Drove an hour here on a Saturday to pick up the last of a specific water heater where George Morlan were the only ones in town that had one in stock. Got home and realized they had loaded the wrong one on my truck! Called to notify them of this issue and they had someone out within two hours with the correct water heater at no additional cost to me. I also purchased extra parts for the installation just in case. The lady that helped me waived the 30 day return policy so that I can return any extra parts the next time I’m in town, even if it’s after 30 days. Great place

So sadly i never got his name but having gone to 3 different plumbing supply locations (and misordering a product online) where they all told me that my uniquely sized Aerated Stream Female Aerator for my kitchen facet would have to be special ordered, yadayadyada I tried one last time at this GMPS location because they had been so good to me during my bathroom remodel (shout out to the manger who let me swap the floor model sink for the one i ordered that was coming in late and i needed it ASAP) and low and behold this gentleman took on this aerator challenge like it was his calling in life and found a solution using a totally different make and model that just happened to fit. Mind you he tired several other options before having this epiphany. It was something so small but it really meant a lot to have him really invest in finding a solution. As he said when i left i just dont give up. and that was an entirely true statement. He didnt. I will not use another plumbing supply shop from now on.

Ive given 2 stars in stead of 1 because they were responsive, which is why I went with them originally over another company. Unfortunately, my opinion went down hill from there. They had to make 2 trips to repair my water heater. The first trip they replaced the main controller, but it was not secured. The pilot light went out the next day and when I went to re-light a piece of the new controller went flying off. They came back out and replaced that controller again... the serviceman admitting at that time that the controller they replaced the day prior was older. So I had paid full price for an old broken controller???? On the 2nd trip they replaced it with an actual *new* controller that was the same model of the original one. This time the service man indicated he also replaced another part ($49 value)... which I honestly have no idea if he did or didnt. I did not receive a revised bill and he wasnt sure if Id be charged??? I thought perhaps that additional piece would have been complimentary since they had to return a 2nd time due to their own poor workmanship. However, my invoice is for $348.00 - - - my VISA was charged $435.25??? My water heater is working again without issue. But I feel strongly that there was an attempt to take advantage of the circumstances and an overcharge. As a result, I cannot recommend George Morlan and will not use them in the future.

So this review should have been the last 5 visits to George Morlan plumbing, the attitude and customer service are atrocious. George Morlan used to be reliable but anymore they are too busy to help. I went in today because my sink push stopper had a bad gasket and I figured that Id have to replace the entire plunger piece and it would cost me but it would be a simple part to screw in rather than call a plumber, but both the person who helped me at the desk and the manager told me that this part did not look familiar and that there were simply too many parts like to it and to find it would be like finding a needle in a haystack. My only solution was to replace the entire fitting and that would mean calling a plumber (for me). So, I went to A-Boy plumbing and initially the guy who helped me said that this part did not look familiar but that hed ask his manager. She came over, asked 2 questions and walked over to a display. She thought that it might be a brand called Mountain. Sure enough, it was an exact match. Better yet all I really needed was a gasket and she happened to have one. $2...and from the time I entered A-Boy to walking out with my new part 5-6 minutes. Save yourself the grief of dealing with George Morlan and just go somewhere that actually wants to help. Ironically, the original part was purchased at George Morlan 7 years ago.

Instead he took the time on a busy day to not only explain how the faucet mechanism works but also used a tool that I certainly do not own to remove the broken part and install the new one. I’ve never been offered assistance in their showroom and the counter service is passable at best. They have a number of displays set up in the showroom, but expect to be price-gouged if you are not a contractor with an account. I would look elsewhere first, especially if it’s closer to your home or project site.

Worst customer service ever! Appointment made for Yesterday (Monday). Took the day off to be available with the understanding they would be out between the hours of 9 to noon. No show. Called to find out why .. was blown off saying they would get to us the next morning at the same time frame. So now we are into Tuesday .. took another day off to be available the understanding the same time frame would be honored (9-noon).No show. Called and was told they again dropped the ball but would make a special trip out and be at residence before 6pm. Called at 5:50 ... was told they cant get to us and would have to reschedule. So out two days work and no service completed. I should submit a bill for the two missed days of work and see how that goes over. hands down the worst customer service ever! if you scroll though the reviews you will see others that got blown off by this company ... sad.

Don, the manager is super friendly, knowledgeable, and he personally delivered my shower fixtures at 6:30am one morning before my plumber was suppose to arrive because they were late shipping to the store and didnt make my initial delivery store delivery. They have a great supply of really high quality plumbing supplies. Their prices are more expensive than Home Depot but are still fair and they carry better brands that will last. I bought everything I need for my remodel through Chris Orr and he did a great job and offered excellent service. My only complaint is that a few of the other employees were rude and even interrupted Chris while he was working. I am glad I worked with him and appreciate his great service!

Sometimes you judge a company by the first visit or installation of a new appliance, others you can judge by how well they respond to problems. In this case I experienced both at the same time. And I give Morlan Plumbing 5 stars on both! Upon installation of a new water heater in a 4th floor outdoor closet, they accidentally encountered a problem with the building sprinkler system. They responded immediately and Supervisor, Brian Knight, was on sight within minutes. During the next few days Brian was prompt, professional and always in touch. Once resolved, George Morlan offered a discount for the inconvenience, which was a pleasant surprise. I would highly recommend the George Morlan Plumbing Company for all your plumbing needs.

Id give them a zero if I could, they installed the wrong size, so it doesnt fill my parents new Senior bathtub. My elder parents trusted this professional business to put in the one they needed for the tub. They got ripped off. Instead of putting in the right one, after we complained right away that the water was cold after 1/2 bathtub full, they wanted to charge for another hot water heater. He said too bad we cant take back the first one. First one was $1,000.00. Manager in Hot Water department doesnt care, not helpful at all. DONT SHOP HERE!!! On to the Better Business Bureau.

We purchased a fairly high end faucet from George Norman (Grohe brand) that ended up not being what we were looking for. Pressure was poor and the faucet kept dripping after turning it off. We came in hoping to get a new faucet (and a new brand) to replace it.Saleswoman had a hard time believing this and needed convincing that it wasnt our water hook up or installation that was the problem, but the faucet itself. Eventually she gave us a few options which we loved. Our contractor was willing to detach our current faucet and come pick up our new choice on Monday, but we were told that they cant put the faucet on hold.... We were basically told good luck, hopefully it will be there on Monday. She took our information down which was nice in addition to the model we were interested in purchasing.But...... you cant put something you have in stock on hold for just two days? We felt that we were pressured to just buy it now rather than stick to our plan.Update: Even though we had given them our name and phone number in addition to the exact part we needed.... we arrived today to pick it up and they had no clue where our information was. The woman who helped us this past weekend said she had taken down our information but it looks like she was not being honest.I am hoping this is the last time we will have to deal with this business.

5 stars for Clarify Clara. She is a star in company with a horrible reputation for customer service. I am not a plumber, but I am a pretty good DIY and have tackled lots of remodel, gardening, auto repairs on my own over the years. Plumbing is intimidating and going to George Morlan is not something I look forward to, but have done several times over the years to buy fixtures and components. When I need to go to George Morlan, I mentally prepare myself to have a Long wait time, be ignored, eventually be helped to only have the staff take multiple phone calls and be distracted by other projects they are working on. Clara helped me with my order, clarified everything multiple times and explained 3-4 week lead times. Right now I am giving her a 5 star rating, I will come back later and rate George Morlan the company once i get all of the fixtures and components I ordered in 3-4 weeks.

My mother is near 80 and her family and all her friends have been Morlan customers for many many decades.I needed a cartridge for a Rohl faucet we bought in 2006. The manufacturer changed the type of cartridge in 2012 and I could only find the modern cartridge number. I called the Foster store asked for help because I searched the internet and could not find anything other than the incorrect (modern) cartridge. The lady could only find the modern incorrect one. I said I am watching a video of the correct part and I asked if I could send it to her so she could see that the two cartridges are different. She made a very loud breathing sigh then she said I need to contact Rohl directly. I was not happy with this because we know that Morlan charges much more than other stores but I figure that means that I would get a little better customer service.Then, I called the Tigard location and asked if they would help me find the cartridge. The lady helping me was nice and while I was being helped, all of the sudden the manager got on the phone and said you bought the faucet over 10 years ago that is just too old and too long ago. You need to contact the manufacturer.I was a bit shocked and told him my mother chose your store because she believes you give customer service and that your store is like family. If we have to call the manufacturer ourselves, why should we continue to shop at your store anymore?The manager got a bit hostile and then said we would only help you within the first 30 days, after that you are on your own and have to deal with the manufacturer directly. I told him I didnt want to speak with him anymore and hung up.I honestly am amazed and am now completely disgusted with Morlan. I cant believe that the manager went out of his way to stop the lady from helping me.I can get the lousy service and pay a lot less at Home Depot. I will never shop at Morlan and I will go out of my way to make sure everyone I know and every elderly person knows that Morlan is actually worse than Home Depot. Sometimes the helpers and Home Depot are retire professionals and go out of their way to help those with little experience.I recorded the two phone calls and will let anyone listen to them if they want. I record most every call to businesses in case they give me specific instructions or part numbers. Its too easy to forget or write something down incorrectly.

They will deliberately give you the wrong part if you dont ask for EXACTLY what you need.This has happened too many times for it to be a coincidence. The surly people working behind the counter clearly loathe and resent the customers.I just got back from there buying a standard part. The part is so standard, that when I called Fred Meyer, the person answering the phone knew exactly what I meant right away (they didnt have any).The guy behind the counter at George Morlan tried to pretend he didnt know what I wanted. Finally he reluctantly went in the back to get it. Then he returned with four different sizes. Since I knew from experience they would do this, I was prepared to know the size (Id measured with my fingers).Be warned - measure everything and know exactly what you want or you will be driving back and forth all day buying and returning parts.

I’ve been to GMP probably 5 times for things I couldn’t find anywhere else and all 5 times in last 15 years I was greeted by an employee that was completely disinterested in helping me. A sales person was not able to help us and told us to go stand in another line. Was told to go back to the original sales person to get help. Did a special order that would take 3 weeks to arrive. We cancelled the order 4 days after we placed the order but they didn’t give us the refund for shipping costs.

Glyn Stubbs was very knowledgeable and helpful, putting together the list and prices as I picked out a number of fixtures. No pressure, just proffesionalism. Just had to return a special-order faucet. We needed to exchange it for one that would work in an area with limtied clearance.The salesman researched the Moen catalog, and assured us the desired item came in the correct finish to match other plumbing hardware in the house. He then found an acceptable match for a soap dispenser to place next to the faucet. All this to match the period appropriate look of a house built in 1910.We could not have asked for better service. It is nice to see the spirit of George Morlan alive and well today. (Mr. Morlan also happened to be the neighbor of a great uncle, many years ago.)

Our small business has been using George Morlan for years and couldnt be happier with the quality of service. The name Water Heater Kings is deserved. Don sold us two hot water heaters that were installed by other companies. One was damaged and Don discounted the unit and offered a full warranty. After two weeks it broke and George Morlan stood by their warranty like every business should. Their plumbers (Jaspn & Travis) were efficient, knowledgeable, professional, and very respectful of our tenants. They were also careful not to damage our floors when bringing in the new unit. From the plumbers to the management and everyone in the middle I couldnt be happier. If you are considering a new hot water heater George Morlan is the place!

There is hardly a store I can remember that has treated me more rudely than George Morlan Plumbing. First, I was ignored for at least 30 minutes while I looked for a replacement faucet. Then, when someone finally responded to my question, I got a quick We cant replace that. Found the replacement at Home Depot after a 5 minute search with help from their staff. George Morlan probably should go out of business.

Ive gone to Morlan in SE Portland for over 35 years. Ive always found the counter people to be very helpful and knowledgeable. Have bought everything from a washer, to a bathroom lav and faucet, to a water heater, and have always been satisfied.

Our water heater was leaking. Called first thing the next morning for either a replacement or service. GM advised they would call us back with in 2 hours. Never heard from them. Found someone else locally who responded immediately. GM is NOT the great service company they once were. Too bad.

I had the worst experience. Incredibly rude and dismissive. A complete lack of follow through. It took over 4 months for all of the parts for my shower to arrive. When I would call to check in, no one took responsibility or ever apologized to me. I would never recommend them to anyone!

Just stopped there hoping they would have what I was looking for. Granted it was 5:30p and they close at 6p but no-one took care of me for 15 mins even though there was just one client. the 4 employees did not seem to care. A manager who “took care” of me did not listen to me and disappeared complaining that his warehouse people always misplace stuff. After 10 more minutes waiting. I left. These guys just dont give a %$#%.

I don’t write many reviews nor do I complain a lot when shopping, however I felt compelled so on my interaction with George Morlan plumbing.I know very little about plumbing beside basic knowledge of DIY bathroom projects. So I went in to GMP to get some help with replacing my tub trim kit and options. If you have never been to GMP which I had not, they have a take a number system. I did not know that as they were not busy and I stood by the Front counter. I stood there for several minutes before one of the people standing behind the desk told me to take a number. I thought that was odd because there was nobody waiting but I did and a few minutes later my number was called. Seemed a little inefficient but whatever. I explained to Anthony Rudder what I needed. He seemed very dis-interested in what I had to say nor gave me any other recommendations than one product. I needed to get it replaced so I bought what he had in stock, based on what he said. The product was opened but he said it was the last one and I needed to get it replaced. When I got home I did some more research online and found that there was another option and I could buy it online but I thought hey I will just take this one back and see if they have the one online and do a trade-in. When I returned the next day I explained that I found another option and if they had it in stock I would buy it from them which they did not so I wanted to return the item I had purchased. He asked if I had opened the product, and I stated that it was opened when I purchased it. It got a little awkward because he said no it was not opened and I had to explain that it was open, and made it seem like it was an inconvenience for him and he did not believe me. After several uncomfortable minutes they did return it, but I felt as if they were not wanting to help nor did they believe me. It was a very bad experience and I won’t be back or recommend this place unless you know what you want. Very unhelpful.

Geo Morlan has always been a fixture in my life since childhood; mommys blowed up wahter heetow was removed and replaced by George Morlan Service workers in the late seventies (held up for 18-years past its warrantee)...: Even had one of their service techs perform repairs on a custom cooling system on a street racer of mine in the mid-90s, and other heating/cooling projects as well; always treated well & always paid a fair price for the labor...

I am not a satisfied customer. Below are excerpts from a letter I sent a few weeks ago. I still havent heard anything back.I recently had a negative experience with George Morlan. I purchased a water heater that proved to be faulty. The unit is still under warranty but neither your service department nor the manufacturer have honored the warranty.I went to your SE Foster Road store on February 16, 2018. The salesman sold me on a Reliance electric heat pump water heater, stating that it would lower my electric bill and that the additional noise from the heat pump fan would be minimal.I was immediately disappointed by how much noise it made. Not only was it so loud I could hear it throughout my house, but it made several distinct noises, including a rattling/buzzing sound, which indicated to me that there was something broken somewhere inside of it. After a few months of putting up with the noises, I was further disappointed to discover that the new water heater was not saving me any money on my monthly electric bill.To address the electricity usage, your service department instructed me to switch the unit from “hybrid” mode to “efficient” mode. Switching the unit to “efficient” mode most likely would have addressed the energy usage issue, but it exacerbated the noise issue and created a new problem. “Efficient” mode makes the heat pump run constantly, which not only produces constant noise, but also pumps so much cold air into my basement that it cools the whole house. This might be a desirable side effect in the summer months, but in winter it is unbearable, so I have continued to run the unit in “hybrid” mode, thereby eliminating any energy savings.To address the rattling, your staff instructed me to take a video of the noise and send it to them so that they could diagnose it before sending a repair technician. When I sent the video, the George Morlan service representative told me that a service technician would be at my house the next day between 2 and 6pm. By 5pm the technician still hadn’t arrived so I called George Morlan and a different representative told me that I was not on the schedule!They also informed me that George Morlan does not service heat pumps and that there was nothing more she could do for me. She referred me to the manufacturer.The manufacturer told me that transporting the water heater on its side invalidates the warranty. George Morlan loaded the water heater into my vehicle on its side, so if it is indeed true that the manufacturer’s warranty is now void, it is due to George Morlan’s negligence.The manufacturers technician detected that the rattling sound was coming from inside the tank, which they said they would not service. The manufacturer stated that George Morlan has a “full service contract” with them, meaning that George Morlan is supposed to be certified to repair the products it sells. They encouraged me to again attempt to work with George Morlan to resolve the situation.I called George Morlan two more times, most recently during the week of December 17th, both times I requested to speak with a manager. I have still not heard back from a manager.I chose to purchase my new water heater at George Morlan because of your company’s excellent reputation for customer service and standing by the products it sells, so you can imagine my surprise and feeling of desperation at being told that my new water heater cannot not be repaired nor replaced under warranty. In addition to the $728 purchase price, I have invested a great deal of personal time and energy on this faulty water heater. I would like to respectfully request that you consider my situation and work with me toward a fair resolution.Best regards,

The gentleman (alan) I was dealing with should not be in costumer service, first he cant do a refund,grante g it was a new computer service but he couldnt find the part I ordered the day before, that was coming in from the Tigard store, he said and I quote the part was to small to find, he finally got the part and was refunding a different part after he tried to charge me again for the part I was returning for a different tolite flapper showed him the pictures I had taken. Well got the refund done handed me the paperwork turned and walked off, understand Im still standing there waiting for the other part I need for my tolite, he disappears so Im thinking hes looking for my part no he goes and takes a break not a smoke break but 420smoke break when he finally shows back up and asked me if theres a problem why Im still standing there its like hello I still need the other part, O I forgotten about that and he stinks of POT thats why hes so abbsent minded, he asked to see the pictures of the flapper again hand him my phone and he quickly turns around and disappears with it... For me thats like stealing my wallet I have everything on it at this point Im 😠😡. He also never said good bye have a nice day nothing, very bad customer service, and after a hour of trying to get a part exchanged and picking up a part I ordered the day before, Im behind for my customers....Im sure George Morlan has good people there but I sure didnt get one of them.If youre going to smoke POT do it at home not at work. Take care of your customers!
