This place has one of the best beer i ever taste. We got the sampler for $10 and you can choose 4 of their beers. They have so many flavors to choose from. My personal fav is the the melon and sunfish. Meatball Pizza adds perfectness to our experience. I recommend this place to all beer lovers out there.
I stopped in here on a Saturday while visiting Portland to try out some good beer and enjoy the atmosphere. We got there at 11am and glad we did since it was filling up while we sat there. They have a large beer menu and the cool thing is they have experimental options on the menu that you can only try in that location. We both got a flight and chose mainly experimental options. The service was quick and folks were friendly. It was also really reasonable in price and Id highly recommend a stop in.
On our trip to Portland we stopped by Shipyard Brewing company. I was told that the tap room recently opened up and we were sure to experience it. Tables were far apart (excellent adherence to Covid-19 regulations). We ordered two flights (4 Oz pours x4 for only $10). The beer selection is excellent (20 types of beers) to choose from. The Sea Dog Blue Paw blueberry wheat ale was by far our favorite! Light and delicious with an excellent blueberry flavor that is not overpowering. I must find where to buy this ale and get some. There is a cute gift shop by the restaurant as well where we picked up cute lobster Maine shot glasses.
The pumpkin beers are excellent, but they had a ton of great brews to enjoy. The Hefe was one of our favorite beers on the menu and the flights were cheaper than the usual. Great for a beer enthusiasts trip to Portland.
Came in on a Wednesday at around 1 PM to try a few flights. They have some indoor seating, but we opted for the outdoor tent. Shortly after we were seated, there were a few parties lining up to wait for a table, so we were lucky we didnt have to wait.A flight of four beers is $10 so my fiance and I got a flight each. Here is what we had:CBD Organic Blueberry Seltzer - was intrigued since neither of us had a CBD drink before, but this tasted like a raspberry Emergen-CTap O The Morning - this was an Irish stout, which I didnt think I would like since I dont like maple, but it ended up being one of my favorites of the flightsShipyard Summer Ale - light and refreshing. Since we went at the beginning of September, I really appreciated the fact that they still had summer beers but were also bringing out the fall beers already tooSmashed Pumpkin - not a fan of pumpkin beers but fiance loved this oneMelon - this was so good! So much so that we ended up buying some to bring back. Trying to hold onto summer for as long as I canSunfish - another good summer beer. Its grapefruit and its very lightBlue Paw Blueberry Ale - didnt care for this. Im starting to think I just dont like blueberry drinksBlack is Beautiful - I love stouts but even this one was a bit too bitter for meReally glad we got to try all these beers. Flights are usually hit or miss but we liked most of the beers we tried.Note - the servers are really nice, but some of the staff working in the store are a bit rude. They will straight up see you waiting by the register to ask a question and then purposely walk away.Tip - they close at 6 PM so make sure to come early!
Do not come here if you are looking for a traditional brewery experience. No interaction between you and anyone unless it is your companions or your server. Not allowed to stand at a bar. Beer taste averages “OK. No standouts but that is a personal taste thing. Server was good once we finally got one. Lots of other options in Portland.
Very good beers. A lot of options and overall very solid on their varieties. Best part was, we chose one beer and our server said, umm I would try a different one.... that one isnt very good. Then she suggested a really great alternative. I did ask for a sample of the beer she diverted us from and, yep... she was right. Just an ok beer compared to the rest! Love this place.
Don’t go to the outdoor spot. No service for 30-40 minutes at a time. The taproom is slow as can be and they won’t fill the seating, so almost pointless to try and visit. They seem to not care about customer service here. So many other great places in the area to have a good time.
Amazing beers! This was my favorite brewery in Maine, I picked up a hat and a shirt it was that good. Do the flight! I got the cbd blueberry, tap o the morning, finder all amazing. The smashing pumpkin blew me away it’s mike the pumpkin head but better more pumpkin and flavor. The staff is amazing, plenty of outside seating. Great time!
You might like this place if you like plain, light beer. We like heavy beers and the 9% stout and 6% IPA were lacking in the flavor and richness categories
Beer selection and beer is excellent! Employees are not friendly at all with the exception of the new gal. Pizza tasted very good and the pretzel was ok as is the dipping sauce.
Rachel rocked providing tasty brews outside on Walnut. Vienna lager, brought quickly made my day. Thank you Shipyard and Rachel!!
Ive been to quite a few breweries. Ive done a lot of tastings. And Ive even had Shipyard before since they distribute several brews in Utica, NY. But boy, coming right off the tap, unreal. We had flights and they were all very, very good. My favorites were Pumpkinhead (my new favorite pumpkin beer), the blueberry, and the Hazy IPA. Wonderful flavored and not too heavy. Great variety. The facility itself was clean, spacious and wait staff was very good. Had a great time.
Great services, the staff that served us is very nice and helpful. Good vibe and the selection of the beer is good, the pretzel is excellent. The price is very reasonable. We had a great time there .
What a nice place!, wide variety of beers including seasonal beers, tables are not one on top of each other so you can enjoy a good chat with your party. Prices are reasonable.
I went to the brewery in Kenny Bunkport today the bar was about half full but people was saving the others for friends, so we ordered 2 beers, so we set in tables behind bar the lady who told us where the bar was came and said you can’t set here unless you buying food, she said you have to go the back room where there a lot of chairs, no one there so we went to up front where there a 10 inch bar looking over the water, now we had our choice of 20 seats we dinking our $7 bucks beers and this same person comes to us and says you can’t set here unless you buying food,, I think there a lot of bad attitude there’,I from Keywest, I will never buy another shipyard beer, and I’m so glad to have this opportunity to share, don’t spend where they don’t care I gave a 7 $ tip pass it up Jerry
One of my favorite breweries because of the beer, coming to the taproom was an even better experience. Ben and Aaron are very knowledgeable and took great care of us. Will definitely come back.
Good brewery in Portland. The people inside are very pleasant and cozyTheyre working to extend the tasting room.Currently dont serve food, only some snack like chips and pop corn. The beers seem like genuine. We did two flights, served with funny nice black board tray, where you can write four 4 chosen. We tasted the IPA, my favourite was the Finder. Also the melon beer was interesting...If you are in Portland this place worth a visit!
Easy to get to, the brewery is near to downtown Portland, and when you get there the staff are extremely welcoming. The beer flights are great fun and so are the numerous games both electronic and board games that are on offer. I can’t recommend the Shipyard brewery enough. We had an enjoyable visit🍻
Fantastic brewery featuring unique and excellent beers. My server, Joe, helped me pick out beers I liked for a flight and was incredibly welcoming. 10/10 experience, will definitely be back.
Fun place. Good food. Tried some flights. Waitress was pleasant and friendly. Cant wait to visit again.
Had an amazing time here, really enjoyed the atmosphere and the ability to choose our own flights. Will definitely return.
Pretty cool; they have plenty of beers to check out. We liked all the beer we sampled and it was fairly cheap! We even purchased and filled a growler for $10!! I think my only beef is that they cut off over half of thier space for merchandising. This is by far the busiest brewery around due to the proximity to Old Port; a lot of people are left begging for a place to sit or even stand to drink. They should cut the merchandise in half and open more room.
Shipyard is definitely one of the big time breweries on par with Sam Adams! BUT if youre in Portland, you MUST visit their taproom and try the beets they arent telling us about 😉 best kept secrets!
Beer was good...Had a west coast IPA..well cause Im from the west coast..we dont do hazy beers in the west coast but its starting unfortunately...my poor kidneys have a full time job processing the normal IPA without throwing the hazy IPAs in the mix..😂😂😂
The tasting room is very spacious and has a great atmosphere. Customer service was great and we even got recommendations for other bars/breweries in the area to visit. Both of us got beer flights. My favorites were Sunfish and Blue Paw Blueberry Ale. Would highly recommend visiting this brewery!
Great selection of beers, the Blue Dream is almost overwhelming. I’d suggest the Blue Paw, it has plenty of bite. They close at 6 on weekday which is a big head scratcher, the place was packed still.
Good brewery to stop by while in Portland. The people inside are very nice and the brewery layout is great. Bring the kids as well, as there is soda on draft for the kids. I enjoyed the Pumpkinhead with the cinnamon sugar rim, not something you see everyday and it was good for sure. Thanks for the great conversations while we were visiting Portland and for the beers of course. Well swing by the next time we are in town.
Every beer we had was delicious. The Blueberry CBD Seltzer is a must-try. Trying to sneak in a second visit during a short trip!
Good brew. Nice place.
Great beers at great prices. Honestly a super spot for dates and parties. Food here is perfect for drunks so no need to worry on that front.
Great food, the buffalo bites and lobster roll were a hit.
Amazing lobster roll. HIGHLY suggested. The staff is great. They treat a single dinner as if you were a arge party.
This place is incredible. We asked about a few beers and they were highly knowledgeable and informative. I was torn between two beers and after ordering one of them, they brought me the other one on the house! All of the staff was super friendly and gave us many good restaurant recommendations for our time in Portland. We will definitely be back next time we’re in town!
Friendly staff.Great beer!
Great Beers and Awesome Customer Service!
Had an absolutely wonderful experience here last night!! All of the staff was super friendly and nice, especially Aaron! We will definitely be coming back again!! Super safe given everything going on with the pandemic. Drinks, pizza and pretzel were great, definitely recommend!
Great atmosphere with some very good beers
Picking your flight is really fun, great concept. But the gift shop sucks, and the tasting room was out of some of the beer we wanted. Also, it was super crowded in the early afternoon, and so very loud. Terrible acoustics. And the setup is such that you get trapped because the tables are too close together. Very stressful.
Great beers and awesome atmosphere!
If you havent had the pumpkin head .... Shame on you
Staff are very nice. Great atmosphere. Not to mention the tasting room is excellent.
This place is great! Huge beer selection. There were about 20 choices when we went. Inside seating area is large and clean. Lots of merch too. Our server was fantastic, he gave us a few free samples without us even asking, doesnt get better then that!
Stopped in for a quick beer...tasting room was rustic and well lit with nice decor. They have chalkboard glass holders that you fill out with your beer choices and take up to the counter that make it real easy to create a beer flight. So cute, creative, and efficient. Nice place to stop if youre in Portland and like beer!
Great service and the beers were fantastic! Lots of interesting flavors to sample. All were delicious. Will definitely return.
Great beer. Great service.
If you like beer, do come here!!
Great beer, good times and awesome atmosphereMaine sodas - incredible prices
Loved the Blue Dream 💙
Tasty, trendy, friendly and fun. Nice staff and great grill food make this a great pub stop for noon or dinner. Wish I had more time to sample all the goodies and the local brews. worth the walk.
Great taproom, with pizza and pretzels.
Awesome staff! Took the time to explain the different flavors etc..Fun experience for sure since I never had other types of Shipyard beer before besides the pumpkinhead one.
The Sunfish brew is amazing!! My new favorite wheat ale!
Really good beer.food is ok
Delicious beer, terrible terrible service. Came here yesterday and had to wait 45 minutes at my table for a single flight of beer. Came back today hoping for a better experience. Unfortunately same story. We have been at our table for over half an hour and are just being completely ignored, haven’t even had the opportunity to order. With coronavirus measures in place they are not even busy. This is how you lose customers. Portland has a lot of other options, and if you want somewhere to sit and drink a beer in a timely manner I suggest you go there instead.
Good beer and lots of variety.
The beer tastes like yeast.....disgusting. When I walked in the smell or beer overwhelmed me, they should put a sign up warning you about the smell as well as the taste of the beer. The carrots on the other hand were the perfect texture and I highly suggest you request the chef to make them
The best deal is their four 5oz pours. You can select from 12+ flavors of beer. Recommend to go with a friend or group.
It is an excellent brewery to visit. They have cool merchandise for sale. I highly recommend this place.
Great service, liked the meatball pizza 🍕
We visited Shipyard Brewing on a whim when we were in Portland and were so glad we did! The price and selection for tasting flights was impressive. The beer was great--the mango one was my personal favourite. The atmosphere was fun. We loved that there were games available in the tasting room...we played Cards Against Humanity while sipping our beers which was a perfect combination. Would recommend.
Visited the brewery a few years ago and it was a great time. Enjoyed the tour and the brews! Will visit again if I ever visit Maine again.
Great beer, pub, service and store. Could use more available food, but in a Covid time, they did a great job!
Cool place and friendly staff, but the beer wasnt great compared to what else is available in the area. Really enjoyed the pumpkin ale though.
