The service was nice, but the dine-in area was dingy. The Spiced ginger coffee (KOPI JAHE) tasted awful, only served in small paper cup and already pre-made in the pot. No breakfast menus. The Everything Brioche and other foods looked like store-baked goods and they just heated ‘em up. Only Cardamon Latte was freshly made on the spot. Disappointing! An overpriced coffee house when the quality of coffee and food are beneath what we would expect from all the good reviews here.
Cute little coffee shop serving Asian origin coffees and coffee based drinks. Its awesome experiencing a different spectrum of coffee from the usual African and South American coffees most shops carry. The drinks are fantastic, service is great and the staff is super friendly and helpful with any questions
A great place to sit and get work done. They have a really nice downstairs space for sitting with easy access to power outlets and consistently good music. Chill vibes, easy to focus. The coffee is also delicious. So far Ive only tried the cardamom latte but its not too sweet with a mellow coffee flavor and perfectly spiced.
The vegan vietnamese cold brew with coconut cream was perfect! Strong and slightly sweet!
Oh this place is one of my favorites. Ive been going here since they opened. I cant wait til there is indoor seating again. I miss vegging out here v
What a delight. This is a little hole in the wall that will exceed your expectations. It’s a coffee roaster. They have relationships with local SE Asian farmers and bring it back to Portland for our palettes. The food. Yum. Yum. And Yum. It’s delicious, healthy and SE Asian inspired heavier on the Indonesian side. Not sure what to order? Ask. They will be happy to help. You’ll leave feeling satisfied and not overly stuffed. There is an area just below that has ample seating. Great ambiance and WiFi. The coffee is unique. I had a Ginger flavored coffee and it was a great change from the norm. Peanut sauce and Tofu. Sooo good.
Such a great little place. Coffee is amazing and the food is great
This was one of my first “discoveries” when I moved to portland years ago. Ended up spending many days here reading and job searching and sipping on Vietnamese coffees. I love this place.
Great coffee, delicious little brioche and very friendly and quick service. Cute place too!
Yummy drinks and awesome pastries! They’re right next to my work and it’s a true inner fight with myself to not stop in every single day. Plus great employees!
They make one of the best lattes I’ve ever had. Susu? Great coffee
I was exploring around the area, spotted this coffee shop, and decided to drop by because of the shops name kopi which reminded me of my hometown, Indonesia. Turned out I was right, they indeed sell coffee beans that originated from Asia countries, including Bali and Sulawesi (2 provinces in Indonesia). So I ordered jahe latte (jahe is ginger in English) which was soooo good, I simply loved the ginger flavor on my coffee. And the service was great. Will definitely come back :)
This was a very unique experience. I really enjoyed their brulee latte which is pictured on the bottom. You can only get that one to drink in the cafe. I believe the one behind it was Jahe latte which was very good as well. It was flavorful without any added sweeteners. The atmosphere was great and the smell of coffee and herbs alone was a good experience.
This is a great place that is somewhat tucked away. Its a smaller storefront but actually has a good size seating area just inside the door. Their coffee selection is fantastic with really unique and eclectic flavors. Portland is a coffee town but you wont find many places like this. I got the cardamom latte and it was exactly what I was looking for. I plan to come back for their Brulee Latte when I am in the mood for a sweet treat!
Mocha madu is my favorite! Always friendly service as well, never have to wait too long despite it being so popular. Get there early for pastries!
Unique and exotic coffee flavors that the owner created while he was traveling around the world. A great place if you are looking for a quite place.
Plenty of space with a downstairs area for seating. Great place to catch up with friends over a delicious coffee, I love that SouthEast Asia influence that this place has. I had the Vietnamese iced drip coffee which was spectacular and my friend had the Chai which was also good. Great place to wait for Screen Door next door!
Make sure you get your order to the barista clear when its busy. Great coffee. So tasty, I couldnt stop myself from drinking down so fast. Will be going back next time Im in the area!
Superior in every way. Very welcoming and warm. The coffee is second to none and some of the coffee drinks are absolutely unique and delicious. Both owners are wonderful, amazing human beings. Nacko has a heart of gold with an infectious smile. Worth a stop if you’re on this side of the p-town.
Small coffee place right next to Screen Door, focusing on SE Asian Centric flavors. Ginger coffee(Kopi Jahe) was strong but nice for walking around on a fall day. Coconut sweet cream latte (Kedai Susu) was a bit too sweet for us but would be a bit better balanced with an extra shot of espresso. Nice spot for a unique take on coffee.
Were here at least once a week -- best coffee place in Portland! Variety of unique drinks, friendly staff and warm atmosphere even during Covid. A staple of the Kerns neighborhood. Youll try something you may never have had before which is the best part.
Delicious coffee and treats. The atmosphere is great too
The cardamom latte was absolutely delicious!
Cute coffee shop/cafe. Although I guess its more than a cafe cause they put together some pretty tasty dishes.Everyone is friendly and funny. Sometimes it gets too busy with the overflow from Screen Door, but thats because Im a huge baby who hates waiting in line.Anyways, I recommend going here.
Amazing locally roasted coffee. Some of the best iced coffees in Portland.
AMAZING unique coffee drinks. Not something you can just get at any coffee shop you must try them!
One of my favorite cups of coffee Ive ever had. I love that coconut cream is incorporated into their coffees. It makes it extra delicious and flavorful, as well as making it easy for dairy free peeps like me to enjoy a wonderful brew without feeling like its getting watered down by regular coconut milk and almond milk.
Atmosphere and super-chill PDX vibes. Staff is chic AF and the lush tunes they jam force you to shut off your thoughts. The ginger coffee is everything. Love in every cup.
Fantastic little coffee shop. I had spiced ginger coffee (black) It was delicious, perfect way to welcome September. I wish I lived in the area, j would definitely become a regular. Super cute and funky inside too.
Dropped in for a coffee while waiting for a seat at the adjacent restaurant; went with a “French Press” coffee to go. It was self serve out of a thermos, so it wasn’t as expected/not exactly freshly brewed on the spot. For that kind of price I’d recommend a sit down experience or avoid altogether.
Kinda meh, its a cute little coffee shop kind of hole in the wall thing. Nothing really impressive. Staff were kinda rude, some young guy that did not really seem to care. Latte was kinda meh, ice coffee was ok. Better options within walking distance.
Great coffee. Got an Indonesian cold brew with ginger and cinnamon. Very delightful. Will be going back again. Cute couches around. Seems to be a good outing with friends location, or get your homework done.
Just went here and really enjoyed it. The coffee was superb and banana bread was super yummy warmed up. The biggest surprise was how clean and comfortable the bathroom was. It was outside so normally whenever someone tells me that, I expect it to be gross. But when you walk in the back to go to the everyone restroom its super clean, has nice soap and is well heated. Very impressed.
Fantastic neighborhood coffee shop that specializes in SE Asian specialty coffees and coffee drinks. I really like the downstairs seating area for grading papers and planning lessons. The staff is friendly even when its packed with run off from Screen Door (next door).Dont wait to visit the coffee shop during your brunch wait. Its well worth its own visit.
Best latte I have ever had.
The ginger coffee is very intense. Ladies working are nice and welcoming.
I adore this coffee shop. From the creative ambience to the delightful brews of coffee. Food is inventive, and I could nestle in and stay here forever. One of my faves for coffee and ruminating :)
Take a trip to South East Asia at this little gem of a coffee shop. My favorite non-coffee offering is their warm dragon milk tea 🍵 🐉
Great coffee spot. Lots of Asian inspired drinks.
Kopi is my new favorite wake up call. The atmosphere is cozy and laid back. A great place to meet a friend for coffee or pick something up to go. I really love that there are savory options like Roti for breakfast. Also really appreciate the fact that the owners travel to the source and know their coffee well. So many interesting flavors to choose from. Staff is always fun, helpful, and friendly.
Excellent coffee! Got the iced coffee but vegan and it was sooooo good! A lot of caffeine and super tasty. Stopped in waiting for a table at screen door. The vibe is so relaxing in this coffee shop. It almost felt like we were in a cave! A nicely lit cave. Try it out!
Great Indonesian coffee and small bites. Very cozy atmosphere! Do try while you wait for a brunch table next door.
Great coffee flavors, but the add ins didnt mask the coffee and espresso. Good atmosphere to hang out and friendly staff. Not a lot of snacks to go with but definitely recommend!
Traveled all over Italy and Europe. Came back to portland looking for a cappuccino that could match what I experienced over there. Nothing has come close. This place has no clue on how to do it.
Excellent coffee, staff is amazing. I always stop in for a latte when Im in the neighborhood. The barista pulls every drink like its the only impression shell get to make on someone who could be a new best friend. The coffee itself is balanced and beautifully roasted. The ambiance is peaceful and calm. Highly recommend.
Give Roland a raise! Vietnamese iced coffee is delicious and staff is kind!
I love this amazing little spot. So incredibly inspired and creative. Im hooked on the Vietnamese iced kopi, their coffee beans are a special treat. This is my favorite coffee shop by far, their menu is also extremely creative and delicious. What a wonderful spot!!
Live close by and visit this place probably every other day -- best coffee in Portland in my opinion! They make sure not to produce a cup that will melt your face off (which I think is by design), which is nice in case you need to preserve your taste buds for breakfast next door at Screen Door. That said, sometimes the coffee might not come out as hot as youd like so dont be afraid to ask for extra hot!
Seriously some of the best coffee Ive ever had; drip is ginger spiced. Caramel brulee latte (with the torch too!), breakfast bowls with spicey eggs over coconut rice, and now a cardamom latte, which I can only describe as Hug-In-A-Mug.
Im not even a big coffee drinker but I love the vibe and the different options on the menu here. Great place to relax, get work done and eat/drink
Their coffee selections are so incredibly unique. Must try them you understand their magic. I love their breakfast. Comfy place tio hang out as well. The line is seldom long and the wait for food and drink is reasonable.
Our favorite, cozy coffee shop. They have the best coffee and the best baristas!
Great roaster, great employees, and an inviting spot that lets you escape from the street. Far more comforting than the more “clinical” (but still good) Heart Coffee down the street.Kopi is by far one of my favorite new discoveries in the last year.
Amazing coffee. Far exceeded my expectations. One of the best pour overs Ive had in the city. Also, outstanding food. I almost dont want to leave a review so I can keep this place to myself...
Wow. Just... Wow. One of the most unique and quality coffee experiences weve tasted in Portland. Super friendly and fun place.
Great place with authentic Indonesian coffee and food. The coffee is a perfect roast and it has unique flavors you will not find anywhere else. The place was decorated with Indonesian art. As an Indonesian, I definitely recommend this place for a taste of Indonesian culture.
Really good food, great coffee, no wait. Coconut rice with bacon was a perfect breakfast. Screen door looked good, but the wait looked terrible.
Love the cardamom coffee 😍 great pour over with organic coffee and loved the golden milk!!
Cute spot. Great food. Interesting choices for coffee. Yum!
Funky little place to kick back and relax. Love the selections of coffees with hints of cardamom, cinnamon, and ginger. The food is excellent, and youll have to try the lemongrass chicken roti. They are always making improvements to the decor.
Great spot. Great people. Great food and drinks! My favorite coffee house I have encountered yet.
We walked in with two people ahead of us on a Sunday morning. I dug the space and the people seemed really nice. We were informed that they were two drinks to be made prior to ours and we might have to wait about 8 minutes for a pour-over. We waited 25 minutes to get two cups of coffee even though we walked in when it was virtually empty. The coffee was really good! But the miscommunication and wait time really soured the experience for us. Probably wont be back.
PROS: Nice atmosphere, good service, tasty beverages, reasonable pricing.CONS: Interior needs freshened-up/painted & deeper cleaning of customer areas.Guests were tucked away in their respective areas, 1970s music hovered in the air over the sound system, vintage thrift shop meets Asian decor blends with shabby chic...oddly, it kinda works and captures an attitude. I would like to have heard and saw a small, lit garden fountain near the entry and in the lower dining area.I found the counter staff to be kind, friendly and attentive. Pricing was fair. I enjoyed a cup of peppermint tea with soy creamer. Guests around the shop enjoyed time with friends, conversation flowed and the vibe was laid back, comfortable. A great Sunday or any day hang out spot.Food is visually appealing though I did not order food the day I attended. Idea: Bring a friend or two and have a chat session (or) bring your laptop or good book and escape into the corner of the lower room for a while.
This place is really fantastic. Great service, great atmosphere, and really phenomenal coffee.
This is definitely a place to go for really good coffee. They have a creme brulee latte, which most unfortunately cannot be taken to-go, because they take a torch to it! So neat! The matcha latte was lovely, and so was the sweet cream latte. They have a ton of different options for sweetness and add ins, the shop was very clean, and the employees were all very nice :) definitely come here! They also have tons of seating.
Great little gem offering a quiet space for studying with attentive customer service. Ordered a vegan version of the cà phê đá, which used coconut condensed milk. Tasted phenomenal!
They have a different, but delicious latte with kaffir lime. A few food items on the menu (I havent tried any yet). Small space with a little quiet side room frequented by people studying.
Sweet hidden away spot, with delicious coffee and food.
Great little coffee shop. Stopped by here to wait out our brunch reservation only to discover some delightful coffee. Definitely worth a stop!
Very diverse group of people, atmosphere was/is very, very free flowing and of course the owners served excellent Indonesian coffee!
Cozy location, good brew, yummy food.
Really love their matcha latte and their chai latte (delicious with coconut milk). The food is delicious as well! I really love coming here when I’m in the neighborhood - nice atmosphere and friendly service!
Love it but need btter customer service.
Delicious coffee, fair prices, several options for less than 5$, cute decor
This was my first Portland experience for coffee. My partner took me to get the ginger infused hot brew & it honestly changed my life. I have come back almost every single day that I have been in the city. No matter if you’re wanting a cold chai or a hot bevy, this place nails it on the head every single tome. The food is absolutely incredible as well & would recommend the Vegan / Gluten Free rice bowl of you have allergens (it’s the best I’ve ever had) & let’s talk about the staff! Nacko the owner is the sweetest bean ever & everyone who works there has been so wonderful & welcoming. If you’re coming to Laurelhurst or Portland, you gotta get kopi.
Everything is awesome! I love the house coffee with ginger the best, though the Cardamom latte and Creme Brulee lattes are excellent as well. The breakfast roti is AMAZING and worth the wait.If youre in the neighborhood for breakfast and dont want to wait in line for Screen Door, slip in here.
Awesome, unique flavors and warm vibe with friendly service. Highly recommend anything they have with cardamom!
Only coffee shop in the city I can study/work without wearing my headphones because they play excellent music, Ill drive across the city for one of their creative and unique Indonesian drinks, and i looooove their friendly and laid back staff that is always kind and patient even when there is a line out the door.
Eclectic coffee house that serves serious coffee in a comfortable space.Recommended.
Laid back coffee house with Asian inspired drinks. Dont be afraid to try the ginger latte, its delicious. The brulee latte is awesome too.
Feeling good from the inside out after enjoying a cup of the Black Maple Charcoal Latte. Love not only the coffee here but the atmosphere too!
