This is my favorite coffee shop in Portland. Baristas are always extraordinarily sweet, welcoming, and helpful. I either go for the Whimsy Caramel Latte or an iced americano. Both are out of this world, which demonstrates they have the ability to nail both high quality espresso shots as well as craft up masterful drinks on the sweeter side. They also have a beautiful selection of plants, gifts, and other home accessories. I somehow end up buying a new plant every other time I go (see pic). You know how it is. When you see a plant that immediately clicks in your eye, you have to get it. I experience more eye-plant-clicking in their selection than I do at most indoor plant shops... make it stop...This cafe is superb in every way and is a must try for any coffee lover.
Staff are always super patient and kind. Lots of local items are showcased and available to purchase. Drinks and food are delicious.
Cutest shop! I love all the plants and would like to buy every product! The drinks are always delicious and the food is good!I feel like a lot of intentionality went in to this place. Great staff, too.
I love this place for the following reasons; Excellent masks for sale, a jungle of affordable plants for sale, quality coffee and breakfast bagel sandwiches, and most importantly, beautiful people with exceptional vibes despite our socioeconomic collective stress. These people deserve a purple heart for the quality of their mindful friendliness that goes above and beyond. It feels like going to a mini party at friends home each time I visit, and that means a lot to me. 💕🙏🏼🎉
If you like sweets, you owe it to yourself to get the caramel hot chocolate here. It tastes like a heath bar and distilled joy. Seriously, this drink healed my soul.
Love this spot 💕 spacious, lots of light, kind & friendly staff… the Rose City Matcha is dreamy. Yummy breakfast sandwiches with options for vegetarian. And you can often stumble upon great live music here on the weekends!
The cutestcoffee shop with plants, vibrant music to relax to, killer specialty drinks to boot! Definitely a must on your Portland hit list.
Great vegan options drinks and light breakfast. Nice place to take a break. The space is well put together place to wait, sit and study. Great music
Great lattes and decor, friendly staff. Enough stuff for sale to double as a small store. Came here every morning of our brief portland stay.
My friends just moved into the area and I this gem was half a mile from the new place. I love the vibe here and they sell the cutest stickers, cards, mugs etc.On top of that they made me an amazing iced soy latte and vegan bagel sandwich. 10/10 recommend for sure!My friends got a non vegan sandwich and coffee and they said it was amazing too!I love going places that have options for everyone.
Its our local coffee shop and weve enjoyed getting fresh beans and the occasional drink here but they just changed their menu above the cashier so that prices are not displayed. Not a fan of that choice.
What a fierce crew of fantastic people. What a joy to spend my there. Oh, the coffee is top notch too if you are into such things.
When I stopped into Rose City Coffee, I was actually just there to find a plant. Little did I know I would find my new favorite coffee spot! First, the space itself has a great vibe. Spacious, but cozy with pretty antique furniture pieces and picnic bench tables outside. There are cute little gift items throughout the store, including... plants. When I went up to the counter to ask about the plant supplies, the staff were incredibly kind and helpful and completely unpretentious (not always the case in some Portland Coffee shops)! I found a little plant and decided to grab a coffee while I was there. I ordered the Rose City Latte (a rose flavored latte), I dont normally order foofy flavored drinks but was feeling sassy. Upon first sip, I was shocked by the sweet, floral perfection in cup. I am officially in love with this drink and with the coffee shop. What a wonderful surprise to stumble upon!
Love this place! Every time I go the staff are always so welcoming and friendly. They have a variety of drink flavors, my current favorite is the Rose City latte, which tastes like drinking fresh rose petals. They also have food, a variety of indoor plants for purchase, and art. Plus they are directly across from Brooklyn Park so you can watch happy dogs playing while you sip your coffee. Highly recommend.
Great coffee, great food, nice staff.
Love their coffee and breakfast sandwiches. Plus the coffees delicious, the service is warm, the picnic tables outside have been helpful during Covid as a place to sit safely, and there is inspiration from so many local craftspeople and artists in the items for display and sale. Will be a regular whenever in Portland!
Super nice people. Casual and intriguing with some very good art and gifts for sale.
Always super friendly staff. Yummy drinks. Coffee is great and organic. My favorite drink is their rose matcha. Sandwiches are simple and good, probably the best is the grilled cheese and add on bacon or tomato or both! Great vibe.. plenty of room to hang out with a friend or study date. Grab a table and a puzzle ( they have a bunch) and stay for a few hours.
The people are friendly, and their coffee is good.
I highly recommend this shop. The prices are fair, coffee and food are great, staff is very friendly, and to top it all off the store itself is beautiful and unique with a great atmosphere.
Such a cute place. Great coffee and chai plus lots of cute stuff for sale. The staff is very nice 😊
Rose City is such a wonderful neighborhood coffee house. I love them. Throughout Covid they have set everything up to keep everyone safe, even though I am sure, since there is currently no indoor seating, their sales must have dropped. As an extra bonus the shop is absolutely filled with house plants for sale. The plants probably help purify the air too, I hope.
My favorite coffee shop in the South east. It has delicious sandwiches too. But the service is top notch
The happiest, most enjoyable, non-stuffy PDX coffee shop visit in many moons. Coffee was well made and delicious as well. It’s women- led which is rare and refreshing in the coffee world. The shop is also a plant/local art shop without crazy high price tags. Go visit! 🖤
This is the best coffee shop in existence. And Im saying this completely objectivity, its a scientific fact. I honestly could see it being named a unicef world heritage site for its cultural significance. Seriously, everything about this place is heaven especially during these trying (covid/trump) times. I used to like to sit and do my homework here, lots of space and comfy chairs. Now, I pop in for a quick coffee and bagel. They have appropriate social distancing precautions in place. The staff is the best, always friendly and welcoming. Oh, and the coffee they brew is perfect, I like their floribunda... Nice medium roast. My only complaint is, if I buy their beans, I wont have a reason to visit the shop and the lovely staff! First world problems! In conclusion: Best. Coffee. Shop. Ever.
I love the coffee here, the food is excellent too. Everyone is friendly, and the atmosphere is nice too.
Beautiful space inside with friendly people. The sandwiches and coffee are EXCELLENT!
The baristas here have such wonderful spirit! Spending a few moments around them always puts me in a better place! The coffee and breakfast sandwiches are pretty damn good too.
Came here last February and still think about the cafe! Very friendly staff, wonderful selection of different roasts, and a zero waste option to take home beans, which is immensely appreciated. (ofc unsure if its still an option during the pandemic). The coffee itself tasted wonderful and the latte art was also appreciated. We also had some bagel sandwiches from their selection and the spicy ones were actually spicy! (& fresh)I lived in Portland for 22 years and Im sad I only discovered this gem on a visit back home, but I highly recommend it.
Love this spot! Great coffee, friendly staff, and awesome gifts/home decor :)
Great coffee, beautiful setting and friendly service in the heart of Brooklyn.
Earl Grey tea was fantastic!
Love love loveeeeee Rose City Coffee. The Brooklyn location has to be my favorite for the dog watching at the park through the window. Noticed there is live music now on Thursday’s in the morning (not sure how long that will last, but it’s a nice touch!). I meet a lot of clients here since the staff so wonderful and coffee speaks for itself. They also carry Nora’s Kitchen Granola on the breakfast menu. Love all around.
Really nice coffee place!
Love their coffee and the friendly people!
Had a beautiful time at this spot. The coffee is great, and they dont skimp on bagel toppings. You truly get some bang for your buck. The staff is kind, and the place is very clean. There was literally a person sweeping, and wiping tables the whole time. I went with someone whos not into the coffee scene, they didnt rush her to make a choice, and were very knowledgeable about the menu items. This was the second time Ive been, I loved ever second being there.
Firstly, the coffee is delicious. Secondly, this is a local and mom-owned business who is working nonstop to create a responsive, successful company in a time of a lot of hardship. Honestly, its the best coffee I have had in years!
Super friendly and yummy coffee!!!🤓
Love this place. They were so nice to my kids and the atmosphere is really chill. Coffee is great as I had a mocha that was delicious. Great space for studying, doing a puzzle or a board game on a rainy day. High ceilings and exposed brick walls complete the ambiance.
Honestly the coolest. The space is nice and open, good for flow of customers or not having to keep your kiddos on a choke-hold.As if legit brick walls weren’t artful enough for an interior, theirs is literally covered with art. Paired with mostly natural lighting from the enormous windows, which they take advantage of with beautiful hanging plants - all of which provide a nice view of a park a colorful homes across the street. The seating selection varies so much you’re likely to be able to find a seat that mimics your favorite chair at home.Good selection of non-coffee beverages, not to mention a wide selection of brewed coffee!! I’m not sure how cost effective this is for them, but most shops don’t even keep a decaf drip handy...Well the place speaks for itself, but chatting with the folks running it has been swell.Check it out!
Went here on a whim before getting my car serviced down the road - just want to commend them on following COVID safety protocols and for being both friendly and delicious - not to mention the MANY plants available for sale alongside the delicious coffee just makes for a heavenly space. Thanks for doin you, boo!
Note: the website and voicemail say they close at 6p, but they close at 7p in the winter and 8p in the summer. Whoops! As a nearby graduate student, Im here at least twice a week, if not more. Very friendly staff, delicious and reasonably-priced coffee and food, and the food is actually a decent portion for the price. (Definitely on the lighter side, but not substanceless cafe snacks!) An open, welcoming work space. I wish they had more outlets available for the booths, and... as much as some people think its a perk... god bless, but the piano is a little distracting when a neighborhood 6yo becomes enamored with banging on the keys. But still my favorite spot in town! Thanks Rose City :*
Such a Zen place! Great coffee too!
Highly recommend. Chill atmosphere, good coffee and the staff are kind. 10/ 10 think I found my new go to.
Pretty good place. Ive come here many times over the years and have really liked it. Good coffee, good food. My only complaint is last time I went in there they had rap playing and it was loud enough to hear through my noise cancelling headphones... jesus Im getting old!
The staff here are friendly, the sandwiches are fresh, the coffee is great. The place is spacious and comfortable. I only come for takeout meals, but this would be a great place to hang out with friends or alone if I werent always going on other directions. Thanks to the crew for always taking care of me and my sometimes weird requests.
Love this place! Super friendly staff and the food and drinks are always great. I keep coming here even though I moved out of the neighborhood!
Friendly staff, spacious room with large tables, comfy couches, great WiFi and plenty of power strips. Self service drip coffee with cheap refills for those who like efficiency. Lots of improvement since I was last here a few years back!
Tasty coffee and yummy breakfast sandwiches!
I had a really great gluten free breakfast sandwich and latte here this morning. I’m also so excited to find a local place that serves dark roast! I can’t wait to go back!
I come here for the delicious bagel breakfast sandwiches like once every week or so and have never been disappointed. The coffee is perfectly roasted. The service is awesome-- its nice to come into a business at 645am and be greeted with a genuine smile and hello! I will be a customer for life. Thank you!
Personality personality personality I love the people there good coffee they knew the name of the bean they roasted themselves
I belong to a meet up group and we go to different coffee places around town. This is one of our usual places to go to which can accommodate a larger crowd. The coffee is good and they have some good food items to choose from.
This lovely shop is apart of me weekend routine. Great staff, good coffee, yummy food. The space is comfortable for both working on a laptop, or socializing with a friend.
Absolutely LOVE this place!! We are so happy to have this great spot in Brooklyn :) Everyone is always so friendly and kind. The breakfast sandwiches are Perfect, I could honestly live off of them!
This place is amazing! Great coffee, great food, and the friendliest staff I’ve encountered in ages. I’ve become a regular, and plan to be for a long time!
This place is great. The coffee is top notch and the food is good and the service is fantastic ! The atmosphere is a bit strange they have a large space kind of awkwardly filled but with some cozy couches and chairs. Great places to sit for reading or for getting work done.Update, they permenatly dont have pour overs. But they still dont have a pour over ! Its been four months sense theres broke and I am so confused as to why they cant get another, it seems like a relatively cheap cost for a coffee shop. They said they get so many people ordering it they finally crossed it off their menu! Just buy another one!
The staff here are SO nice! This is a great place to get some work done, or chat with other locals. You could probably stay here all day!
Loving this place. Great, local neighborhood cafe with great service, comfortable seating, and natural light. Bonus: gluten-free and veggie options!
To everyone who feels good about publicly disrespecting this place, Im really glad you dont come here. I love this place, great coffee, super chill and friendly staff and good as a work from home satellite office since its quiet. Happy this place exists outside of the norm.
This is one of my favorite places to study in the city of Portland-great coffee, cozy booths and chairs to lounge in, and wonderful smells! I often come for over 3-4 hours at a time to work and the staff is always inviting and helpful with anything I need! I also love that my presence here is supporting a locally-owned Female-ran business!😍
This cafe is awesome. Not only is everyone super friendly, the coffee and food are delicious. I stop in every morning on my way to work. Very comfortable place to hang out
Greatest place to get some coffee and a bite to eat. Atmosphere is relaxed, with great seating, and staff is just awesome.Have been dropping in for years to do paperwork in the mornings and dont have any negative comments.Quant and homey feel easy to converse with others or just zone in and get some personal stuff done.
Great selection of coffees and teas. Friendly staff and comfortable seating area.
About as good a coffee place as you can get. Unless its a 5-star hotel.
Genuine North West coffee
Friendly staff, good food and really good coffee. They are have a nice and large space to meet or relax.
Large space with very nice staff. The mocha was strong but missing richness I anticipate with a sweet mocha. Pastries are of the boxed variety. It’s a good local neighborhood spot.
Good coffee, cozy spot and kind staff. I work near Rose City coffee and always enjoy popping in on lunch. You should try their almond croissant. Delicious.
Super cool vibe! Lots of light, and plants! There are games to play, and tons of seating. Most of all, the coffee is excellent!
Awesome local spot. The new owners have created a very welcoming space to have a conversation or get some work done. The kids area is a nice addition.
Cute roomy spot with comfy couch seating or a nice study area! The baristas are so nice too! And the food is coffee shop typical foods (veg/vegan/omnivore friendly).
I am a fan of the Sellwood location, so I was excited to hear about the move into the old True Brew space. Theyve become my go-to for beans at home, but their drip and cold brews are both excellent in house as well. They have a wide range of roasts for all tastes.
So great now that its no longer true brew. New owners are awesome! And their coffee is delicious.
Great place to get work done, friendly staff, and good coffee (and smoothies!)
I love their lavender lattes, they put little bits of real lavender in top!! Everyone I have met has been phenomenal. Two rocking thumbs up!
Good place to buy a bagel and coffee. You can w alk over to the bookshelf and grab a book. The table and chairs are ideally suited to eating.
A wonderful coffee shop with friendly staff and great coffee. Very cozy. A true neighborhood gathering place.
Nice place, friendly staff, welcoming to families. For some reason it often smells like cigarette smoke, though. They don’t allow smoking but maybe it wafts in from outside.
I come here literally once a day for coffee. It is a reliable cup of joe. If you live in the Brooklyn neighborhood, this is one of 3 options that are central to the Powell/Milwaukie intersection. I recommend.
Lots of tables to study at and good coffee. Today they had live acoustic music which was refreshing.
Just dont go here. Its such a frustratingly bad place. All that space and all those fun kitschy decorations but somehow they cant serve fresh food or decent local coffee, which is the very least youd expect from a hip local small-business Portland coffee shop.
The staff is super nice and it’s a cool spot for students to study but almost every time I have ordered food here they mess it up. I would stick with coffee when you order cause the coffee is great but the food could be a lot better.
The coffee wasnt even remotely fresh. Id go to Marigold or Southeast Grind... fresh coffee is a must!
The coffee here is really good. Ethiopian and Espresso are my favs.
A genuinely comfy coffee shop. Booths, tables, sofas, patio - whatever you need to settle in, they have it.
Friendly staff, good selection of drinks and nice window seating. Great place to work on a computer or play a board game.
My new go-to coffee spot when Im in SE PDX. Great space, lots of room to work, meet or re-caffeinate. Fast wifi + outlets too. 👍🏼👍🏼
