Pearl Fiber Arts is a wonderful, friendly yarn shop full of lovely yarn. When you walk through the door, the owner, Cindy, will give you a cheerful greeting and be ready to offer help with anything you might need. The inventory in the shop is marvelous. There is a broad selection of yarn, commercially produced yarn as well as an excellent selection yarns produced by local independent spinners and dyers, all very worthy of heirloom projects. The tool selection is also extensive. There is a wide selection of needles; straight, circular, and double point. There are plenty of notions to choose from that help make any project easier to knit (or crochet!) and the finished item a pleasure to wear!I always enjoy shopping at Pearl Fiber Arts! These days, unfortunately, I have fewer opportunities to drop into this lovely store because I have moved to Albany, south of Salem. Whenever I am in Portland, though, I make a point of visiting Pearl Fiber Arts! It worth making a destination while you are in Portland. π§Άππ¦πβ°βΏ s1 k2tog psso
Lovey smaller yarn store. Good selection of local hand died yarns. They clearly move fast so have a few ideas in mind if itβs a big project needing significant yardage.Very friendly owner who was a great guide for the different brands available. She was also teaching when I was there so itβs a nice knitting space. Recommended.
This is a very lovely yarn shop, and one of the few places Ive found in Oregon to purchase roving in person. The prices are fair, the colors are beautiful, and the staff was perfectly friendly. I highly recommend this shop.
First visit for over a year! Im so happy to be vaccinated and able to visit again. Love the store and the owner is the best! Also love supporting local yarn stores.
This is a small store, as yarn stores in Portland go, but the service absolutely makes up for it. More than once this has been my go-to spot when I forgot needles or a project while I was heading out of town, and the owner is kind and helpful. Theyve got a nice selection of local indy dyers on a variety of bases, which makes it a good souvenir yarn stop while youre visiting Portland!
Yarn selection is amazing. Friendly, and very knowledgeable staff.
I didnt dislike this place. But I spent 78 dollars on yarn.when I went in there thinking Id spend maybe 20. You cant get a skein of yarn for less than 9.50! But its beautiful wool and washable and very soft.
Love to stop in whenever Im in Portland.
A great selection of local and hand dyed yarn. There is a good variety of prices as well, definitely worth checking out even if you are on a budget!
Staff was very friendly and happy to be there with helpful answers to questions. The yarn was lovely and they had a good selection of colors and weights. They also had a good amount of pins and other odds and ends. They were definitely ready for the yarn crawl with extra help and excitement was in the air. Overall, it was a lovely shop that I will definitely have to visit again after the 2019 Rose City Yarn Crawl is over.
Dropped in with a friend whos really into knitting. A good selection for a small store. Very friendly staff. I really like how there are samples of the different materials knitted or crocheted up so you can see how it looks and feels when put together.
Lots of great local dyed fiber to spin, knit, weave, crochet, use with embroidery or what ever you do with fiber. Lots and lots and lots of color! While there is a lot of yarn it is not overwhelming.
I usually dont make it to this side of town on a regular basis but I will be changing that if only to stop in here more regularly! There is a fabulous selection of yarns/makers to choose from. The owner is super nice and very helpful. Ive only been in a handful of times and each time its been such a positive space
A great variety of local, hand dyed yarn.
The woman at the counter was incredibly rude. When we inquired about a particular type of product, she stated that it was no longer in vogue Thank goodness with a sneer. Way to alienate a potential new customer. Even though the yarn was lovely, we will never visit the store again.
So friendly! Always have wonderful yarns and other cool items related to fiber arts.
One of my favorite yarn shops. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable. There is a great selection of yarns from local indie dyers. The other yarns tend to be from smaller, family owned mills. And, bonus points, they carry spinning and weaving supplies, as well!
Very small charming store. Nice to see local hand dyed yarn. Plenty of ladies lounging. Owner was great and thereβs a nice selection of nicknacks. I was especially pleased with the Pom poms.
Very cool yarn store with local yarns. A lot of variety. The lady who works there is very knowledgeable and knows where all of her yarns come from. Highly recommend!!
Super cool little spot with a great selection of locally dyed yarns. Very friendly staff and lowkey atmosphere. This place is the knitters and/or crocheters dream. Youll have to go somewhere else for a wider range of tools and supplies but if you need yarn this is your shop.
I love this store. The lady behind the counter was sweet and friendly. Listened to be carry on.
Rude customers and rude employees.
Cindy is always welcoming and ever knowledgeable about all things fiber & beyond; I love seeing what new handcrafted wooden fiber crafting tools she has brought in - or new needle recommendations; Also what new fibers are in stock.
I love visiting local yarn shops for the first time when traveling, and spent almost an hour squishing and touching everything in the shop. Cindy showed me around and told me everything about whatever I was oohing and aahing over... If I lived in Portland, Id be a regular here, just lovely. Walked out with some great fiber and local yarn, too.
OMG, Cindy is the best! She was so much fun and is a fund of knowledge. Will definitely go back to this store when I visit Portland again.
I came here for the first time for their annual destash sale. Very friendly staff, great prices. I will definitely be back.
Love the store, the woman who runs it the sweetest ever! Very helpful and willing to answer questions!
Tiny little store, but wide selection. Chatty friendly service even after I said I was from out of town (so no repeat business). Id definitely return if I lived here.
Small shop, with a lovely yarn selection and a very sweet owner. Very helpful.
Lovely locally owned yarn shop plus lots of local hand dyed yarns. Super friendly owner who will answer any questions and make you feel welcome.
Very friendly and has a great array of colorful products and locally spun wool.
This shop is so fun with beautiful, squishy yarns and an awesome staff. Canβt wait to get back to Portland to visit again!
I stopped in due to a knitting emergency. Id driven up to Portland for a conference and left my knitting at home! 3 days of sitting without knitting. Agh!I also didnt have much time before I needed to be at my conference. But, within minutes, I had yarn, needles and a pattern. I didnt quite finish the project (a wedge scarf) during the course of the conference, but I was happy.
Good selection of local yarns
Beautiful yarn, great selection and friendly owner. My favorite yarn store.
Great selection, great service, super nice staff
Friendly staff and great selection of local fiber!
Friendly, helpful, local yarns & even welcomed my dog!
Cute little yarn store downtown
They didnt stock Cascade yars, which I was specifically what I was in search of. Neither did they stock any books.
Ombre yarn heaven, and stuff for spinners too!
Friendly, Best Equipment, the best yarn.
Small yarn store. Very friendly owner. Some local yarn too.
Still a favorite
Love to shop here
Helpful, friendly place.
My favorite yarn store in Portland
