Well stocked neighborhood store. I was in a pickle trying to limit myself to only one board game purchase. I appreciated there’s a subsection just for cooperative games. Friendly & knowledgeable staff.
Incredibly nice staff, good selection of games, in a nice neighborhood. Highly recommend.
Great place to buy high quality puzzles (ex: Pomegranate brand) and the $5 used puzzles are a steal! Good selection of classic board and card games as well, and a rental program ($5/3 night period). As if that’s not amazing enough, they also offer a frequent buyer punch card: spend $20 ten times and get $25 store credit. Make sure you make the walk around the corner from the main strip of Sellwood and stop in here. The staff members are friendly and happy to answer questions on any of the games. I’ve loved learning and playing Wingspan!
A lovely little game store that packs a lot of different games for sale in a relatively small space. They also have a used game collection, which is always a nice find. The neighborhood is also great, and theres a food truck court right across the street!
Store is well laid out. Its very inviting. They currently have tables set up outside for playing. Lots of used games for sale and rent. Staff is very knowledgeable. They are able to take orders in store.
Awesome selection of games to buy or rent. Super friendly and knowledgeable owners.
Amazing shop with a great selection. The owners are super helpful and knowledgeable about games. Just tell them what youre looking for and theyll point you in the right direction. Stop by and get a game night going! They also have plenty of great puzzles.
Was an awesome little place the owners were very friendly and helpful!
Awesome little game shop with a big selection of games and puzzles to browse. A must visit if youre in the area!
Super cute local game shop with a great selection and fair prices! The employees here are super helpful and friendly. I called on a Monday to inquire about a hard-to-find game that is pretty much out of stock everywhere. The employee with whom I spoke put me on a waiting list for the game once it was restocked, and I had a copy in my hands by Friday — way quicker than I had anticipated. Absolutely outstanding service! My next board game purchase will definitely be from Cloud Cap Games!
Cloud Cap is one of my favorite local game stores. The owners are fantastic and they have a great rental library. Looking forward to when you get to host game nights again! Thanks for being awesome 😁
Probably my favorite game store in town. They sell used games and puzzles for good prices and you can rent games for like $5 which is so cool!!
Great local game store! Wonderful selection of games and puzzles. Staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. When a particular game I was looking for was on backorder, they even offered to hold one/call me when the next shipment came in. Happy to drive to support this business. Looking forward to coming back again soon!
Cloud Cap is the Best!! Alex and Ty are Great Guys and the Shop gets better every time we go in!
Bought 3 magic kaldheim set boosters and 3.50 worth of singles and it was 37.75 somehow.Pretty overpriced, not worth
This place is absolutely wonderful! Very creative displays and game themed decorations. The guy working the counter was very friendly and knowledgeable, and it was obvious that he enjoyed running the store. I also appreciated the layout of the displays and how they had games categorized into groups. We plan on moving closer to this area, and it will definitely be a frequent haunt for us. It was also very nice how they are limiting capacity and staying cautious during covid.
Smart, informative staff and lots of interesting games and other interesting things in stock.
For such a small store they sure have alot of games, love their used section and that they rent out games.
Despite its size, this is my favorite game store in the city. The staff is incredibly kind and helpful and they always manage to curate a great selection of games for their space. I especially love that they sell used games and allow you to rent games.
Found this gem via Google. Everything about this space is fantastic. Super friendly, knowledgeable staff, great assortment and a mere 10 minute drive away. Came in looking for something difficult to find and left with exactly what I was looking for plus so much more. Lots if holiday shopping will be happening here.
Awesome tiny, local game store. Super helpful and knowledgeable staff, real comfortable shopping experience. If youre looking for games in Southeast, check Cloud Cap.
My favorite game store. Always a great selection of new and used games. Great prices
This place is probably my favorite store in the Portland area. They have incredible loyalty to their customers and great service! Great items, great people, great place!
The cutest, most unique, little game and puzzle shop this part of town!!! Every time were over here we find ourselves stopping in, recently got one of the best Christmas puzzles were ever seen in our lives! If you are ever in this part of town, Cloud Cap is a MUST SEE destination!
Such a charming and welcoming place. I have gone several times over the last year and each time has been a delight every time. Always has great games and the staff is good a recommending games! I cannot wait for Covid to be over so that I can join in on a game night.
Great selection and super helpful staff. We picked up some wonderful games and toys and got some excellent suggestions from the gentleman who worked there. Thanks!
We came in after calling ahead after some singles on a discontinued game and to our surprise they had some of what we were looking for! The gentlemen working was patient and helpful while we selected what we needed and the price was more than fair. Grabbed a cool set of dice and some candy for the road.Thank you Cloud Cap!
Its kinda small and very pretty, like Sellwood, but its not expensive. I saw plenty of games I want to go back for, and I saw the employee there being really helpful to a young girl and her parents.
Great selection and nice people. They went out of their way to hold a game, the last one for my grandsons birthday. Also reasonably priced.
Knowledgeable staff. Large stock with lots of variety. Game nights. Cookies. Used games for sale. Trading cards. Dice and knickknacks. And most important of all, a gumball machine.
Cute little store with a huge puzzle selection!
Great staff, and awesome selection of games! Recommendations had me walking out with two extra games to try with the fam.
Ive been checking out all the card shops in the greater Portland area and Cloud Cap is something special. Its quaint, cozy, homey, and peaceful. Its the kind of place a perfect rainy day will remind me of years later. Their is no shortage of shops in the city but Cloud Cap has the most heart by a long shot.
Friendly with variety of stock. Even has game rentals and used section. The tree in the middle of the store is something to see!
If you want a shop with every game imaginable but with a staff that doesnt know anything about them and a soulless atmosphere, go to Guardian. But if youre looking for a thoughtful assortment of great games curated by a superb staff who are happy to answer your questions, all in a magical and warm setting, look no further than Cloud Cap! Games are reasonably priced here, and they even have a great rental shelf with lots of games to try out!
Friendly and has a great selection! Shop local and small businesses!
Cloud cap will 9/10 be my go to game store because theres only been one time when they didnt have what I needed. I also think its great that they have a room and a bunch of tables that you can pay 5 dollars to rent for Im pretty sure an hour. When renting you can play any of the games they have in a bookshelf at the back of the room. The only reason cloud cap has four and not five stars is that the prices are a little too high for my liking, but I understand given that it isnt a chain business, and is not owned by a larger corporation.
We take our kids here at least twice a month. We love it. Renting board games before we buy. Pokemon, mtg, etc. Great little place to play and buy cards and board games.
This place is awesome! The staff is super knowledgeable and fun. They have a really cool selection of games you can rent before you buy. Its (as of today 12/17/17) it was $5 for three nights and you can put the rental price towards purchase of a game. One of the staff approached us and made really helpful recommendations. When we had questions about a game he popped a rental open and walked us through the game mechanics. He was funny and engaging and really made the game sound fun. We ended up buying a different one, but well definitely be back. Seemed like a really cool scene there too, lots of people playing and having fun. It was well-lit and felt like a warmer environment than the other game store weve been to in town. Definitely new favorite.
Nice place. Lots of games that I had no idea what I would do with, 😀 but that is probably a good thing. I did buy three games to play, which I thought were reasonably priced. Good customer service. I would make a return visit when in need of games again.
They have so many amazing games and puzzles. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. They have games for rent, and they will teach you to play the games, too.
My go-to for the close-knit gaming community connection, this spot is the best one Portland has to offer, hands down! Not only can you rent great games for a great price, but theyll gladly order a title for you if they somehow dont have it on the shelf! Good people, all around, and Im happy knowing that my money goes to nearby families, too. Also, a safe, fun place for kids to hang out with their friends with the food carts across the street, the cafe next door and library two doors down, too. Perfect! :D
Sells bulk rare Pokemon cards for $1 each.... buyer beware this is 5 times the going rate...Most shops offer repacks for $1-2 that include several cards AND 1 or more rares. Dont get ripped off, buy from a good quality shop that treats you fairly.
Lots of great games. Popular games and less well known gems are represented. The service is great and you can tell that games are a passion of theirs. The only downside is knowing Ill never have enough money to buy all the games I want there.
My kid loves gaming here. Great selection of all types of board games, collectible cards and puzzles. The space is fun and easily accessible to food carts and a cafe. The Cloud Cap team is always knowledgable and cool to talk with.
Great small local store. Always head there for a puzzle. Lots of other games besides.
Cloud Cap Games is the best game store in the city. Welcoming, beautiful environment, with a carefully curated selection of games, knowledgeable and gracious staff, awesome owners, and generally my favorite place to go for games. Theres some great gaming space and lots of excellent food and drink nearby making this a fantastic spot to hangout too. One of their best, and most unique features is a rental shelf of games that you can take home and try out for a few nights and if you like the game the rental fee can be applied to purchasing a copy of your own.
Fun local game shop, on the smaller side but still has a great selection. The people that work there are helpful and friendly. Has a neat game room you can play games in with friends if you want and has a good selection of games you can rent, which is always nice since some are more expensive so you can try them out before spending the money to purchase it yourself.
The staff is quite knowledgeable and have never steered us wrong. Used games usually come in superb condition. Prices are comparable to Amazon but I feel better supporting a local businesses.
This place is really cool. You can buy games as well as rent games. They have all sorts of board games and card games.
For a relatively small space, great location and excellent assortment of games and puzzles. They really know their games, so all of them are really good and or at least popular. Game spaces to play and all ofoit conveniently located across the street from food carts!
Cloud Cap has a friendly and knowledgeable staff with a great community of local gamers. Its been my go to place to purchase and play games for years. Stop reading this review and give them your money!
Went here on my friends birthday. We all loved the space. Great selection, awesome deals and friendly atmosphere.
It is a nice store, but is the MTG packs are a little expensive. The MTG booster packs are $4 and they have a simple selection of sets and singles. It is in the neighborhood thats why I go, it is fun and they have $1 sodas. It is a great store for casualish tournaments and is lots of fun to play at.
Cute shop. A great place for kids and families!! Not the best destination for competitive gaming / MTG Spikes. Would visit again if I was in the neighborhood, but not exactly a destination game stop in the greater Portland area.
Small but nice game spot and great friendly helpful staff plus they will order anything for you.
I like puzzles, and I like fancy expensive puzzles. Cloud Cap had a very nice selection of high end puzzles from Ravensburger. I found a really nice one that I actually picked up for my mom. The staff was super friendly, and the place was very tidy and well thought out. It would be my first stop if I wanted to pick up a unique game or puzzle for a gift. Street parking can get a little hectic to find. Which isnt a bad thing if you expect it, and arent in a hurry. Gives one a good excuse to make a day of it and explore the other neat little shops in the area. I hope I have to time to go back and do just that.
Anyone who lives near this game store makes me jealous. Its exactly what a game store should be. You can rent board games to try them out, play games there, and ask stupid questions without fear. Tons of interesting games that make the best of lists for people into current board games. Just let them know who youre buying for, and they can help you out.
Cloud Cap games has a great selection of games and excellent service. But what stood out most was the sense of community. My son and I dropped in to buy him a game and ended up staying to play it. I highly recommend you drop in for their Wednesday night game nights. Bring your own game or learn a new one. Most of all bring friends.
Best game store in Portland, by far. Pleasant play space? Check. Friendly and knowledgeable staff? Check. Fun and interesting events? Check. The owners and staff work really hard and succeed at making this business a destination that you will want to come back to again and again.
Friendly service, had everything I wanted. Lovely people. Would rate 11/10 if I could
Cloud cap is one of the friendliest and most knowledgeable game stores youll find. The owners are passionate about board games and it shows. If you want help finding great new games in a friendly atmosphere, this is your place.
Great spot! Smallish game shop but has great curated selection. Even offers board game rentals and has indoor and outdoor areas to play games. Friendly staff.
Excellent board games store with a great selection of games! They have plenty of space for you to either play games you buy, or rent the space for cheap, which gives you access to a huge number of games. Had a ton of fun!
Prices higher than online stores, but they have a good selection of games and the staff is friendly. You dont pay shipping when you buy local! Recommended
The staff has literally played every game they have and have strong opinions about them all. Wound up going in to rent (also the coolest feature ever) two games I had never played and they suggested two different ones which I rented and am now on my way back to buy!! Would love to make it to one of their game nights too!
Cloud Cap Games has an awesome game and puzzle selection. They also have a option to rent games to try them out and have games nights. I love this cute shop!
Another friendly, local game store with great atmosphere. Close-quartered, only because theyre packed to the brim with games. Their prices are really competitive, including their single dice. If you dont care about matching colors, a full seven-die polyhedral set for $3.50 is a fantastic deal, and their matched Chessex sets are competitively priced as well. They have a much larger selection of board games than the other local stores, but their pen-and-paper options are somewhat lacking. They run good sales, and the staff members are friendly and helpful. (An odd recommendation, but check out the inside of their bathrooms door if you go. Hilarious.)Recommended!
Hands down best game store in Portland. Decent selection, competitive prices, plenty of awesome weekly events and the guys who work here really know their stuff.Go in knowing who/what you want a game for and I guarantee these guys will hook you up with the perfect game for your needs in no time.
Great place. Friendly, helpful staff who really know games. Fantastic selection of games and puzzles. Ive bought two sets of Timeline here and Id recommend shopping here to anyone who likes games and appreciates warm, welcoming customer service.
Knowledgable and friendly. Good prices. I buy all my board games here and am always interested in seeing the used games on sale and the board game rentals. Lots of demos in the store. Best board game shop in the entire metro area.
Incredibly friendly husband & wife team with a good sized selection; Im glad theyve made it this far. Ive been a few times, and theyre always very helpful in finding a specific game, or talking to us about the specials or groups that are happening.Additionally, they have a section where you can rent games for a couple of dollars a night. Its a great way to test out a game without paying for it.
I’ve been coming here practically since they opened. Well stocked, knowledgeable staff who can make good recommendations, and they have game rentals. This is my go to game store in Portland.
One of the best game stores in the Portland area. The staff is knowledgeable about games and can recommend others having played them, not just read about them or shrug before returning to the Magic the Gathering card counter. Theres even a room full of games to demo so you can most likely try something out before you buy it.
Cloud Cap is a fabulous game store for gamers of all experience levels. Super friendly staff, great selection, and beer and snacks for sale. My favorite game store in Portland.
Always enjoy visiting Cloud Cap. Great store with fun board game nights.
My favorite board game store; they offer rentals and the staff are always really friendly and offer great suggestions.
Super friendly, knowledgeable staff, happy to do custom orders and their rental game selection is off the charts. The events are great, but they do skew young, so keep that in mind.
My first time here. Im from Tigard so the chance of getting over here is very slim. But there were some nice features such as game rentals, used games etc... I did find the best selection of, Metal Earth, metal models. A nice store, but quality and intelligent board games are getting so expensive these days.
Great little board game store. Love the community and the staff is super helpful. If youre a board game enthusiast or casual player this is the place to go.
Love this place! Great games and awesome puzzles! You can check our games for a small fee too
Offer game rentals for board games to try before you buy. $5 for three nights and if you end up buying the game they credit the rental towards your purchase!
Amazing game store, helpful staff and great selection. Their game rental selection is great, reasonable and if you buy the game they give you the rental fee off the game!
Friendly neighborhood game store. Great selection.
Excellent shop with great selection of games, especially for its size. Friendly staff, and great (free) games night on Wednesdays, with reasonably priced beer
I bought a 2 person card game for traveling. I loved the energy here......lots of kids playing games together.
Great selection. Knowledge owners and staff. Very friendly space.
This is a great store to buy puzzles and games. The game selection is a nice mix of European-style, thematic, party, and childrens, and they have a rental library so you can try a game before you buy it. The staff and owners are friendly and really know about the games they sell, because they all are serious hobby gamers. Although it is a small store, as a board game hobbyist, I prefer to shop at Cloud Cap for its comfortable environment, excellent selection of euro style boardgames, knowledgeable staff and perks such as discounted pre-orders.
Great little games shop with a good library of games to play on site. I attended the (monthly?) ladies night and had a great time.
Great little out of the way store with a great stock for its size.
Great prices, wonderfully knowledgeable staff. Wish we had something this good back at home!
A board game store owned and operated by people who love board games. Im a huge fan!
I literally wouldnt leave if I didnt have to. Helpful, nice staff, great selection, huge kids game selection. I love going here.
They have it figured out. Great local value. Great reason not to buy online.
I love this place. Friendly staff, good selection of games, prices are good, and they host gaming, so it becomes a nice hangout for people of all ages.
