Great shop and great people. I always come here to get new dice for DnD, this place got me into comic books and is actually the only place Ive bought any. Really helpful and friendly people. Give great recommendations.
Great comic shop with titles for every age and taste. There are tables to play games on, packs of cards, and sets of dice.
I love this shop. Ron and his crew always take good care of my family and I. They happily special order for us, and their recommendations are often spot on because they have all taken the time to get to know us, not just the books we read.Other Worlds is an incredibly valuable part of the community and Im so glad its here for us.
This is not a big box store! Hallelujah! This is local! This is community!Other Worlds Games is packed with games of all sorts, and is run by people that are passionate about gaming! They offer community events that bring people together, which is rare and wonderful. You should definitely check it out!
Very friendly staff, a great selection and i love the atmosphere of the store!
Cramped and over crowded. The guy behind the counter needs a job where he doesnt interact with people. Pretty sure theyre not up to fire code in there. Wont be returning anyways as they dont allow firearms in there. Just another over priced store. This is the third comic store Ive been to today and the worst customer service by far.Edit and adjusting: Im changing this to 2 stars because of your attentive response. The guy seemed incredibly overwhelmed and anxious. We (roommate and I) came in asking for posters and he pointed me to a cardboard with posters that had damaged ends that were being priced at full retail price and there was barely any room to open the posters up and look at them which is what we had to do to figure out what they were. He also pointed out the 1 good condition batman logo poster laying on the ground near the front of the store.I was trying to get around the store and even though there was only 2 other customers in the isles I had to bump shoulders with them to get by.IDK maybe not sell posters at all? Help the kid with customer service oriented words... Youre the only shop thats GunFree I would possible move the sign to the front door both myself and the employee had a hard time finding it..I mean he just kicked me out for having a firearm. Thats all. There was no scene or anything we had looked at the posters already and browsed most of the store before he even noticed I had my firearm on me. Once he asked me to leave I asked if there was a sign he said yes then we looked for it because I didnt notice it as I went in and then I left. I think the business savvy choice would have been to ask me to leave the gun in a vehicle and return without to get business. Which I probably would have considered. But instead hes like Im going to have to ask you to leave we dont allow guns in here.... Anyways I think its a coaching opportunity and thats why Im even responding here now. Good day.
I called them up the day prior to see if theyre currently allowing ppl to play in their location and they are. When I and my three friends showed up we were allowed to play Magic for until we left lol.Its a really nice shop. Theres lots of Magic: The Gathering memorabilia decorating the space, among other things as well. The staff were friendly and helpful. :3The shop music was banging! Idk whose playlist was on but there were plenty of top 40 hits from the late 00s and early 10s! 🎶💖
Ron (The Owner) is good at the guitar and all the reviews saying he’s rude to his costumers are wrong. I guess the “rude” thing that he does is quiz you on mtg. But how is that rude…starting a conversation? The service is great but also, please put more decks of mtg other then commander decks.
I only bought something at this store once so far and that was on my last day of high school back in June. The staff are kind. They even have hard-to-find Funko Pops. I may buy something from there again in the future.
There arent very many games for sale and the prices mostly seem to be retail prices. Also the space is pretty small and there is a cramped play area. But the staff is friendly and its definitely worth stopping in to check out.
I play their online Dungeons and Dragons program about 3 days a week with one of the Dungeon Masters. I love it there and the store is filled with lots of cool comic books and board/card games. I would recommend this to anyone who is in the area
Good games(and comics) with enjoyable staff. A nice community place, and when I could play there pre 2020 the Magic the Gathering events were a blast. Looking forward to being able to play in store again!
Awesome shop. Very helpful and friendly staff. Surprisingly extensive collection for the size!!!
Everything you need to completely geek out ... the life size mandalorian was dreamy but rather short ... really fun to spend hours looking at things I didnt know existed and didnt know I was interested in ... but now I know
The owner is a kind man and a funny guy to chat with, good selection of collecting cards, books for ttrpgs and a nice selection of comic books as well.
My first and favorite comic shop to go to!
This place is out of this world. Really! Ron and his crew are the best. It all feels safe and friendly. My kid loves spending his days in Rons store.
Nice place, small faimly friendly, but didnt like some of the political postings. Including 2nd amendment. Carrying out allowed.
Found a place with good deals on Pokémon cards. Once they realized the hype with it they decided to raise the prices like crazy. Last week they had a vivid voltage pack that were $6 now it’s $11. I could find those easily at a big business for $4. This is just insane. I get paying a couple dollars more for a small business but $6 more. No thanks
Extreamly nice and knowledgeable staff more of a comic shop over a game store but has a good selection for what it does have
Small store but had some hard to beat prices and some vintage games!
Best shop in town hands down! They have everything you need and you will be super pleased with their prices
Zev is amazing! So knowledgeable and friendly! My son had a great time in the store learning from him!
My son loved the magic and d&d camps.
A wonderful local shop. Staff is always helpful and happy to help track down items they might not have in stock.
Fantastic local game store, and a pillar of the southwest Portland community!
Really great store, with all the D&D stuff that I was looking for. Ive been a few times and have enjoyed going
Awsome decor and good comic selection but not the largest game selection but they do cater to that community.
I went with my son. I found the owner to be deficient in his customer service. My son continued to attend this store, and again, the owner was not friendly. I do not know the reasons. My son never wanted to go back.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
No complaints here love the selection
Great game store! The people here are always friendly and helpful making it a very welcoming environment. Only problem is a rather limited selection of games, mostly just Magic and comic books. Great place if youre going there for those, otherwise you may want to look somewhere else.
Great mix of new comics, back issues, board games, rpgs, and an emphasis on Magic cards. The owner/staff are super friendly and helpful. Lots of great gifts here too, especially for young people who could use a break from electronics.
Ron makes the most of his square footage by giving us a great selection of board games, comics, Magic cards, and pen n paper rpgs, and more - plus a friendly, welcoming staff.
Other Worlds is a small, locally owned game and comic shop in Hillsdale. Their staff is knowledgeable and helpful. If they don’t have what I want, they always special order it for me. It’s a great place for gaming experience – even though their hours are limited right now because of Covid, they’ve taken all their gaming groups online, so I and my kids play D&D and Magic in store sponsored events, all from home. Someone below gave them a one star review for being closed on July 4, a national holiday, which isn’t fair.
The owner is friendly, knowledgeable and puts his heart and soul into his business. Love the family feel of owner-operated small businesses!
A great shop with friendly staff and cool books. 5 stars!
This is my favorite place to go to explore new games and build on ones I have! There’s always something going on it seems like to play with others and make new friends!
Its a great place to go play some Magic, poke mon or any other turn based card game, also come get comics and other collectable items! Want to dress in Cosplay, you wont be the only one there I guarantee it! Its a warm, fun, family entertaining place to hang out!
My wife, daughter, and I live nearby and we are regular fixtures at their weekly Board Game Night. Weve met (and made!) friends there and always have a great time. You can find somebody willing to play just about anything you might care to bring, or something from the very well-appointed library of demo games.Friday nights are packed with Magic: The Gathering players who always seem to be having a great time!If youre in the neighborhood, and are looking for something fun to do, stop in!
Bruh mad respect to this game store, love this place.
An okay offering of comics (only thing I went in for). Lots of comics, but super crowded and unorganized. The owner was nice enough though
Missed your open times duringThe virus, but I love this place
Excellent neighborhood gaming and comic book shop. I was there for Friday Night Magic and met a bunch of really great people - theres a nice gaming crowd here. James behind the counter ran the event efficiently and with good humor. I was able to browse through the comic books and board games between rounds - they have many of my favorite games in stock and a handful that Ive been wanting to try out. The store is conveniently located with plenty of parking, and theres a lot to do nearby (ice cream, video store, coffee shop, to name a few). I absolutely recommend Other Worlds Games to those who are looking for games or comic books in a relaxed and inviting setting.
To the people who leave one star ratings because the store was closed. You are selfish entitled little children. ( I would use stronger language but this is a family place).
Rons shop is the best! Our son loves attending the tournaments and day camps. Ron has hired an awesome staff. In particular, Moses has been so kind and informative whenever our son wants advice on building decks.
This is my place for games an comics locally. A great staff, clean store, super selection and an own who really cares about his community and the people who are there for heroes, THE KIDS!!!
Good inventory, nice people, great place for events. Like that its local and independent. Been around a long time. Used to come here as a kid when it was behind the gas station.
Ive come here a few times and the store staff has been helpful. They run Magic gaming, boardgames and sell comics. Its very family friendly and there is also an ice cream shop next door which makes this little mall a good destination to spend an hour or two
A friend took me here as per my request to go to a comic shop in the area. I was pleasantly surprised by the wide variety of comics, trinkets and games that were available. The music was appropriate, I heard it was called an hour of epic Dwarf music which made me chuckle to my friends. There were also kids playing Magic which too was appropriate. The comics I bought were nice, as was the price. The clerk was friendly. Just check this place out, you wont be disappointed.
This is great store for gamers! The owner is awesome with kids and passionate about gaming! If you like d&d, magic, and or comics! This is a great store.
Our family loves this store! It is a great community center and provides kids a place to come play games, meet friends, and hang out in a safe and social environment. We love the regular competitions as well as the ability to just drop in for a casual game. The staff is knowledgeable and the owner friendly. Thanks for your contributions to the community Other Worlds Games!
This store is amazing!! Staff is usually very helpful and friendly. Also their MTG camps are really fun and enjoyable! This is my favorite game shop! It is also good for buying Magic singles and/or packs! I love this store please keep it up!!!
My kid loved it. He wants to go back again. Worry at first, very happy at the end. I will definitely will bring my kid back again. Very friendly employees.
Best comics and games store on the planet! Drop in and just look around. Friendliest staff you could imagine. Great place for kids, in fact there are always kids of many ages playing all sorts of rpg and deck building games. They have a great summer camp too!
I think Other Worlds Games is a great place to get presents for friends and family. You can get great toys/figurines. Living near this store is awesome because I can walk to this store whenever I need to buy a present or just to buy a comic book. I love Other Worlds Games.
The staff here is always fantastic! I come here every week to play rpgs with friends, and the staff is always friendly accommodating.
I only go to other world games for MTG products, and they have a wide selection that other stores dont. The booster packs are less expensive to buy in 3s (3 for $10, $4 each) and have a lot of variety. The owner is really nice and occasionally lets you have good deals.
I love the wide variety of players that visit other worlds. I never have to play with the same person more then once. A great inventory and my personal favorite magic singles! Singles for days. I never leave without something Im looking for.
Love this place, great store to pick up a casual game of Magic the Gathering. Also has a great board game selection to buy or try out (yes you can demo most of the games there!). Perfect friendly local game store.
Other Worlds Games is a comic shop/board game shop/card game shop that also hosts various tournaments and weekly game nights. The store itself isnt that huge but the selection of comics and games is pretty good. Ive been coming to this store to pick up comics for a couple years now and have always had good customer service from both the owner and other workers there. Since Ive been going here Ive wandered in on a few special events for the community which is pretty cool to see. Things like potlucks for holidays, the occasionally free snacks, free comics on comic book day. Its stuff like this mixed with their friendly attitude that keeps me coming back!
Ive been playing Magic for about 15 years, and Ive spent a LOT of time in game stores all over the west coast.I currently live about 45 minutes away from Other Worlds, but this is still the first place I go when Im introducing a friend to the game or preordering new product. The owner Ron has established something rare in a game store-- a place where both his community spends time and I can always find some singles to buy. Many of my friends are more casual players, and Other Worlds is the best place for us to go to play together, both casual and competitive, and all are made to feel welcome. There are many hobby and game shops shops close to me, but nothing beats Other Worlds for relaxing, fun atmosphere, and I know that the trek will always be worth it.
Friendly staff, and had a good selection of comics and graphic novels, old and new. Also carried some different trading card games and dice. One thing that made them stand out from other comic book shops was that they have a selection of board games to play in the store, and big long tables to play them on right there.
I come here with my friend almost every Thursday for board game night. The staff is very knowledgeable, friendly, and just great people to talk to.Thanks other worlds!
Ron’s store is the perfect place for getting gaming supplies like all of your MTG cards. Large supply of comics, graphic novels, games and gifts. There are always good events and camps to keep our gamers happy.
This is a great store! My son really enjoys their Magic tournaments. Recently, we have been going their weekly game nights on Thursday nights. Its a great way for my son to meet new kids and check out games he has never played before.
Best place to go in the other world if youre enter the art of magic the gathering!(pun intended)
Love this place!
I come in to play D and D with my friends every week and this place has kind of become a home away from home for me. The attitude is chill, the owner is nice, and there are used board games, both classics and ones youve never even heard of, that you can come in and play whenever you want.
Great game and collectibles shop. Card games, board games, collectibles, comics. If the owner doesnt have something he is very helpful with ordering/finding it for you. Great location too with good food around if you get hungry while gaming.
Super chill little store, lots of cool stuff, friendly staff. Good place to catch pokemon or find poke friends
Customer service is not their strong suit, nor is their ability to handle new customers during tournament play. I understand needing to attend to the giant group of mostly children waiting for tournament play, but there were three of them—it’s generally regarded as bad practice to abandon your customer. How many people does it take to pass out a couple boxes of booster packs? Apparently 3.I was ready to drop a grip of funding from my employer to build an after school game collection, but even if I was waving cash around I don’t think I’d have gotten the time of day from the sales clerks.Go to “things from another world” in Milwaukie or NE PDX instead, you’ll get a better selection and some professionalism as well.
I have been coming to Other Worlds Games Since it opened in 2007. I have always been satisfied with the community that Ron has built here in Hillsdale for our gaming needs. While some prices may be lower online and at big box stores, I regard the slight premium as an investment in our community and have gladly supported Other Worlds Games. It seems some people never learn that lesson and regard honest prices as getting away with something...The fact is that Other Worlds Games is a community ‘brick and mortar’ store that goes the extra mile for its customers but also has to earn in order to stay open. Ron does so by striking a delicate balance. Other Worlds Games is open to a variety of gamers and provides a venue for free whereas you get nothing like that online or at a big box. I have also been in plenty of events where Ron provides generous prize support, swag and even food! Those who complain that he didn’t cater to their every whim sound a bit spoiled and needy. Try engaging with the thought that you should support that community before you whine about how ‘deprived’ you are.I have talked extensively with Ron and never found him abrasive or rude. He simply doesnt suffer fools in his shop and is running a business with both profit and fun in mind. Ignore the killjoys, trolls and fools and come play in a store that is a vital and committed part of the Southwest gaming community!
This store has been around for some time and has become a local favorite. Patrons enjoy an array of tabletop games, comic books, and an endless selection of Magic Cards. A geek like me feels perfectly at ease in a place like this. Check it out!
Well, I was expecting to have a good time and the ability to geek out a bit. But no. My dad and I walked in tonight and we were rudely hurried out of the store. The associate/employee was difficult to understand and seemed like he was confused as to why a customer was entering the store. We entered the store at 9:07 and immediately were rushed out. We had called earlier and were not able to be understood on the phone but I did ask what time they were open till, he said 11pm.On their website it states Friday hours as 9 am -11pm. I am frustrated and probably will not give them my business again.I understand how small business retailers work and I also know that Friday night magic is a thing at game stores. Those are not my complaints.
Great place to play dnd, friendly staff and fun atmosphere! I love other worlds games, it’s a very welcoming and fun place
The owner is freindly and provides many socializing opprotunities through organized events for both youths and adults.
Here, I am rating my experience at Other Worlds Games. I enjoy spending time there with my friends and the community is very supportive. I am glad to have a great place to play so near to my home!
Its a great store but the guy running it needs to get a clue. Im a 35 year old man to have him give me half an explanation like I was one of his 7 year old summer camp children was rediculous. Ive been in several times since discovering it last month. I like the store and just wait till hes not around. He also plays awful music and tries to play his guitar at the same time creating an epic struggle in my brain on whats worse, the service, the music or atmosphere. Seriously just come in in the evening most of the auxiliary staff are delightful
A surprisingly good store full of fun and games! The service was exceptional and the owner took time away from his busy day to educate me on some items I was interested in.
My favorite game store in all of Portland. I do all my game shopping here. Ron is knowledgable and personable. He can get any game you wish. A fun neighborhood game and comic store everyone should check out. Stop and play a game sometime.
We adore Other World Games and all the staff! Its the best.
Muy guapo y buenoI like the tacos and the fire pitEpic 15 thanos gauntlet and it cool
Having heard from numerous friends experiences, and from the scant experiences Ive had with this shop, Id recommend avoiding this place. There are a lot of other better shops in the area Id personally recommend, namely every single one.
Great shop, great variety. Staff is super friendly and very welcoming.
Friendly staff, solid selection, unfortunately I will be taking my business elsewhere. Wanted to preorder a box of UMA, shouldnt have to put the full amount down. Preorders that pay in full are not reservations, but purchases. If one cant afford an item but would be able to at day of release, in addition to being a frequent customer, an exception should be made to guarantee return business.
Fun place to hang out and play games
I will not be going back ever again, even though it is close to my house. I had read that the owner is disrespectful in these reviews, and my GOD is that true. I showed up for a comic that arrived today and when I asked for a non-damaged copy (he gave me one with a big cut on the cover), he made it clear that only the subscribers matter and scoffed openly at my complaint. FIND A THINGS FROM ANOTHER WORLD AT ALL COSTS. Their staff in Beaverton are awesome people.
This is a great “place”. I’ve played many wonderful “games” of “magic the gathering” here with my “friends”.
This shop has tons of events and a community of caring individuals that love to learn and game together. A small business like this provides an amazing customer service where employees care about getting everyone the right product for maximum fun!
Owner is overtly disrespectful to customers.Prices are higher than anywhere else in the Metro area. While rude, he will actually tell you to your face that who he cares about are the kids from Wilson High area who are willing to pay whatever he charges. Its so close I could walk there, but I drive a few miles to a place with honest prices and without the rude attitude.I tried to patronize the store 5-7 times, but will NEVER go back. There are plenty of other stores who still have respect for customer service and dont overcharge.NOT RECOMMENDED.
Other World Games has a staff that I have found to be consistently friendly, and helpful. I started popping in when I moved to SW, and didnt really know anybody, and quickly made many friends there. Even if I dont need anything from the story, I frequently pop in to say hi, because its a great environment, and theres always something fun to be found there, whether its a game, a hat, that dancing baby Groot toy you didnt know you needed, or the Kalonian Hydra youve been looking for.
Owner is always very helpful. Always felt welcome in here. Would definitely recommend checking this place out
Friendly staff. Lots of events. Great community.
Went here every week in highschool to play D&D, staff was amazing and they have snacks and drinks for people who stay around awhile.
A very fun store with no table fees, and very friendly staff.
A great, friendly local business with a full offering of current comic titles, RPGs, and Magic, plus a place to meet up for gaming. One of my favorite places!
Great staff, quality inventory and good prices.
Always helpful staff. Knowledgeable with great selection.
If you are looking for a local business-where kids and family are welcomed-where relationships and community are developed-where play and hanging out are seen as a way to growThis is the place for you, your family and your friends!!!
