Peter is excellent at both craft and service. He replaced my tuners within 24 hours after giving me several options with details on all the specs. He was also patient enough to humor me with his extensive knowledge about guitars in general, and enlightened me with knowledge about my own. Just a super friendly and down to earth guy with a ton of experience. I was really inspired by his passion for guitars. I highly recommend him to anyone needing either a new guitar custom built or an old one cleaned and fixed up.

Peter is amazing! Helped me re-string my grandfather’s old guitar while walking me through how to do it myself, as well as giving it a look over and cleaning, checking on a few problem areas and making some adjustments. Couldn’t be more happy.

Peter has repaired 2 of my instruments - a mountain dulcimer and an older family heirloom. Both times he was extremely responsive, educational, and careful with my instruments. He was very open about what he was doing and why, leaving me with not only an instrument in better shape than when I first got it, but with more knowledge about its construction! I have no reason to try any other shop - I cant imagine any better.

Peter Tsiorba was incredibly helpful! I brought a guitar in for set up and a string change... He showed me how to change the strings myself, answered all my questions and then some, and let me play a few of his beautiful, hand made guitars. The pricing was affordable and he went above and beyond with the service. Im so happy to have found an awesome luthier in town! Thank you!

I searched across the country for a luthier to restore my 69 Oribe classical -- it had some damage to its redwood top and some wear and tear. I made the right choice. Peters work was meticulous; his repair and refinishing was perfect. His communication was excellent. It actually sounds better now. Much appreciated and highly recommended.

Peter is a wonderfully nice and extremely skilled luthier. I brought him a guitar that was in need of a refreshed french polish and a hairline crack repair. Peter went over the instrument carefully and informed me what would be needed. He filled several small cracks and put a new french polish on it. I am super happy with the finished product. The work couldnt be better and the price was very reasonable. I will definitelybring other guitars to Peter in the future! Thank you!

Peter transformed my guitar! He added high quality tuners to replace my cheap 50-year-old ones, fixed the intonation with a new saddle, restored the frets, and produced an action that is pure pleasure to play. I would not hesitate to have Peter work on any guitar. And he is a nice person as well as an expert craftsman.

Peter has done a couple of repairs for me. I have to say he does magic with guitars, he must be a Hogwarts Alumni! I first met Peter around the middle of 2019 when I was in Portland visiting friends. I am from the SF Bay Area, and needed a luithier to make some repairs on my 66 Ramirez Cedar/CSA. I could find no one in the Bay Area who could or wanted to do the work, so I searched online and fount Tsiorba Guitars. I emailed him some photos and explained what I needed, and said I was going to Portland for a visit and would like to meet in person to discuss the work. I found him to be very welcoming, knowledgeable, and a walking encyclopedia of lutherie techniques, classical and flamenco guitars. When I returned to the Bay Area, I shipped him the guitar. The Ramirez needed serious refurbishing of the top (previous owner inexpertly installed a stick-on golpeador), and the action needed lowering (almost 1/4 in. at the 12th fret low E string). Plus, he found some loose back braces that needed re-glueing, and a couple of cracks on the bass side lower bout in the side rosewood that needed stabilizing. When the guitar came back, It looked practically mint! No more golpeador, but a French polished top! And thanks to a fingerboard plane, new frets and saddle, the action was down to a playable 3.75-4mm. The second repair was a modification of the saddle on my 10 string classical guitar. I wanted a new saddle that was lower by about 1-1.5 mm. He never had the guitar in his hands, but I sent him the original saddle for reference. The new saddle fit perfectly, and he nailed the lower string height I wanted. You can trust your guitar to Peter. He will care for it better than you, and it will be in much better shape when you get it back than when you gave it to him!

I have a high-end Flamenco guitar that needed to be dialed in, over 15 years things happen. I set an appointment, we met and went over numerous ways to approach this guitar. Upon receiving it back, Peter not only addressed the obvious I requested; he made this guitar come alive! The sonic textures, it’s overtones and harmonics came back as the luthier who built it had designed. Peter did an amazing leveling and refretting of the fret board, removed 15 year-old golpeadores flawlessly without having to refinish the guitar, modified the bridge height and converted it to a twelve hole bridge to force the string anchoring to a correct angle. Not only did the tone, projection improved, he brought the guitars intonation to exact pitch! The work done was above and beyond all other guitar - luthier shops I have had work done before! Bravo to Tsiorba Guitars!

I had a fret dress, as well as repairs to some large sidewall and smaller soundboard cracks. Peter did an amazing job! Above and beyond the original scope, the side cracks are totally smooth. In addition, he spent time repairing some perfling and larger dents in the surface (this guitar had seen some rough action!). Also, he recut and replaced the bridge to fix the intonation. It’s a completely new instrument, I can’t believe how amazing it plays now. It was my first classical, and though it isn’t anything exotic, it is special to me. Now I have a beautifully playing and sounding instrument that I can’t put down! My love for the instrument has flooded back. Peter is an outstanding and dedicated craftsman. And consider his custom built guitars, the couple that I played were beautiful. Thanks Peter!

If I could give Peter more stars I would. He did amazing work getting an old guitar back in working shape. He took the time to explain things to me and his price was more than fair. He even completed the work faster than usual so I could have the guitar to give to my son on his birthday. He was responsive with emails and definitely flexible in making time for what I needed. Peters definitely my guitar guy from now on. He was fabulous!

Peter is a terrific luthier and repairman. I love his passion for guitars, deep expertise and old world craftsmanship that he brings to each customer engagement. He recently did an extensive restoration on a classical guitar that I had purchased online. His finish work and fret work are outstanding. Currently I have the guitar back in his shop for some set up fine tuning and intonation adjustments. So pleased that I discovered this excellent resource. Highly recommended.

I called up Peters shop after I bought my first (used) guitar on Craigslist. Even though my acoustic guitar is a long, long ways from the marvelous pieces that Peter creates, he was happy to apply his craftsmanship and knowledge to make sure that I would come away with a perfectly set up guitar. Among the work that he did for me was the reseating of frets, fret leveling and dress, restringing, set-up, and a saddle shim. Peter is a warm, honest, and patient individual who offers excellent service at competitive prices. I will not hesitate to turn to him for my future guitar needs.

There is no doubt that Peter is one of the best luthiers in the world. I sent him my faulty blanca, and he managed to fix it and turned it into an outstanding instrument with a sweet and lyrical tone. Aside from being a true wood whisperer, Peter is also an amazing and honest person. I couldnt have picked a better luthier to fix my guitar.

I had a great time doing business with Peter. He is a very warm, friendly person, who loves to share his passion for guitars. As someone who is a bit of a beginner when it comes to guitars, I knew what I wanted done to my guitar, but I was a little intimidated at first to seek out a professional luthier.I couldnt have hoped for a better experience. Peter is very patient and thorough in his explanations, and the work he did (a saddle replacement) completely changed my guitar for me. I was hesitant to seek out the professional repair partly because I wasnt sure if my cheapish guitar was worth spending the money on. Getting it done right, though, has made all the difference, and Im incredibly happy with the work.If you are considering seeking out a luthier, I would highly recommend at least giving Peter a call, having a chat about the work youd like done, and seeing if he can give you a quote. He is a well of information and is very free with his advice, and he will give you an honest appraisal of the condition of your instrument and your options for repairs. I will definitely be calling on Peter in the future if I have any more guitar work that needs to be done!
