Recently took in my Ceriatone JCM 800 2204 to get diagnosed. I could immediately tell Trevor is the real deal. No bs, and honest! And a authorized Ceriatone repair shop. There was suspicion the problem i was having could possibly be a power transformer blew and quite possibly a pretty expensive repair so thats what i had expected. Instead, i got the call from Treavor and was told it wasnt the transformer but a minor half the cost repair! Now thats something you dont run into that often these days! His work is top notch! Couldnt be happier and the amp sounds even more killer now w his recommendation on different power tubes. This guy is a 5 star amp tech! Thanks Treavor!!!!
Excellent service.I took in my 1965 Fender Champ and had it overhauled. Trevor was a great communicator and very clear on what to expect and listened to what I wanted. With something so special (an heirloom) you want a technician with integrity and able to be trusted with your gear. Now my amp is singing like an angel and rocking like a Rolling Stone!
Fixed up Marshall JCM 800 clone and sounds killer! Highly recommended
I brought in my Fender Custom Deluxe Reverb Amp; a pretty lovely expensive tube amp I’ve had for a year. I was unable to find any place that serviced amps nearby, closest competitor quoted me a time of 3 months just to check it out and who knows how long to hear back from fender. When the name arcane amplification came by my radar I was more than ecstatic. I came in, and the main man at the front desk quoted me by the end of that week. He kept me up to date on where we are in the process, he showed me what parts and pieces needed replacing (ended up being the fuses) he also advised me on what would be better to replace these pieces with. All at the low price of around $120 I believe it was. These guys are professionals and the tone on my amp is so crisp now. There’s a lot of great things I can say about these guys, like their communication, their speed, their knowledge, but what really impressed me the most was the guarantee they offered me with my amp. My amps been running better since (it’s been around 3 months). Don’t hesitate to give these guys a call. They’ll take care of you.
Trevor at Arcane is my go-to for all of my amplification services. I have had all excellent experiences with multiple projects ranging from restoration projects on 50+ year old amps, heavy modification, to simple re-tube services. Very reasonable rates, especially given the quality of work. Turn-around times are also reasonable and sometimes faster than quoted. Most recently, I brought in a 90s Fender Blues DeVille 4x10 that was so loud it was barely manageable for studio or live use. Trevor discussed options and came up with a plan to lower the wattage and make tonal changes that fit my exact needs. Totally exceeded my expectations on what I thought was possible. Its also worth noting that Arcane has a small amp showroom with awesome vintage items for sale, and his amazing in-house Arcane amplifiers.Truly a gem local business here in Portland!
Just picked up my AC30. It needed a little TLC and Trevor nailed it. Just got top jacks replaced, amp is clean, and the hardware replaced. They were quick to respond, and I had my amp back in 24 hours. Reasonably priced. I went to Arcane because EVERYBODY recommended it. Now, I’ll be doing the recommending. 10/10. It’s good to know I’ve got an amp guy now.
Trevor rocks. Hes rebuilt two of my Fender amps (1964 Deluxe Reverb, Late 80s Champ 12) and my Space Echo tape delay. Both of the amps came out sounding better than ever. My 64 has been fairly modded in the past and he spent a good amount of time discussing my tube and rectifier options with me. My Space Echo had been rebuilt by a sub-par tech and hadnt been working correctly for 15 years due to what I thought was a bad motor. Trevor was able to diagnose the problem and its running smooth and sounds amazing, with minimal parts (motor was good). So stoked on it. He knows his stuff and his pricing is reasonable. Highly recommended amp tech.
This place is Awesome!! I brought my AC 30 in a few weeks ago to Trevor, I needed new tubes! I also told him I want a bit more ooomph coming out my amp because I play very loud heavy rock n roll! Trevor 100 percent did not disappoint with his mods! My amp is loud as hell now, but still maintains all the beauty of the vox sound! I Recommend this place to anyone, good work, and honest about rate and turn around times! GO HERE!!
Ive been taking all my tube stuff to Trevor the last few years. Always great repairs. Most recently after many years of service despite some shaky wiring from past techs, my 72 OR120 was acting up. It was time for some major service. All done in a timely fashion and flexibility within my schedule. My old Orange is a fire breathing beast again. Cant wait to see how he brings my old Blue Sparkle Plush back to life. Thanks Trevor
I recently dug up an old DIY amp kit project that I built 10+ years ago and was never able to get any sound out of. I lacked the expertise to troubleshoot (and courage to work with lethal voltage) so I brought it to Arcane Amps. Even though it was not a straight clone of anything, Trevor had no issue getting it fixed up super quickly. Then I realized that the amp was too noisy and boomy, making it pretty unusable in practice. Reading through online forum posts, I found out that it was a common issue with this specific kits design. I brought it back to Trevor to further consult and he was kind and patient enough to explain different mods we could do without ripping it completely apart. After a bit more bench time, the amp was transformed into something totally different, and I now own a very serviceable amp thats really fun to play!I think Ive found a place for all my future amp service/mod needs. Im so glad that I randomly found this awesome business while I was walking by the neighborhood.
I brought in my Carvin Legacy to Trevor with a smoked pc board and some tube socket damage. He replaced the necessary components, installed a fresh set of JJs, and got me back in gear with a noticeable improved timbre that puts me right where I want to be without punching me in the pocket. Top marks to Trevor @ Arcane. Id recommend them for whatever ales you in the amplifier department.
Took my Fender Blues Deville in to fix a popping sound. Ended up getting a full overhaul and a couple modifications as well. My amp sounds better then I ever thought it could. Its punchy, responsive, and has a super warm drive tone. Would 100 percent recommend taking your amp here.
Worked on amp and guiters great job
Twas very professional and and gave me an exact date he would have an estimate for cost of repairs on my Blackstar series one head. Came out to be a great price and my head sounds so much better then it did before. Will definitely be taking my other problem amp to him and recommending him to anyone I know who needs repairs or mods done.
Great shop for your electronics needs. Musical equipment for sale. Guitar amps.
Trevor is the man! Take your amp here and you wont be disappointed!
Tremendously disappointed in Trevor. Strung me along for 6 months and then won’t respond to my calls or text and I still don’t have the finished product. I live in Oakland California and after reading his reviews and talking to him over the phone he assured me that he could modify my stomp box by installing an arcade style momentary switch saying “no problem”. He asked a bunch of detailed questions on what I wanted done and he told me it would take 2 weeks.I’m a patient guy, and i would ask occasionally for an update, which he would give but I would usually have to ask multiple times before I got an answer. 2 months into the project he text me he got a new phone and lost my info. Okay, fine. More time goes by and he finally tells me it was almost fixed and will be shipped back to me. I tell him great and ask what I owe him and that’s where his communication stops. I left a couple voicemails and text messages for him and I got nothing. I told him up front I don’t care what it costs I just wanted the modification done. Nothing. It’s so strange to go through all of that work, time, money, and effort and then drop the ball at the end.
Excellent work with excellent advice and support. Trevor has seasoned experience with many amps. There is a high probability that he has worked on or is quite familiar with what you’re bringing him. They gave the once over on my Sunn 200s, which was throwing fits with the standby. Also had them integrate 4 ohm and 8 ohm speaker outs. It has been absolutely fantastic for the past several months.More recently, I took them my sickly JCM 800. It needed a recap, and I had them give it a full service overall, with retube. Trevor noted a few interesting mods and made some very helpful suggestions to improve on them. We also opted to clip the bright cap in the preamp and integrate a ppimv. I have had it for a few weeks now, and it is ripping! It comes roaring right out of the gate. Pretty crazy!Totally confident that these amps will be making music for the next 40+ years, and I am confident to trust them with any of my amps.
Trevor is 100% the real deal. He took my Super Reverb, thats been in the family since it was new, and made it sound better than I can ever remember. If anyone reading this has a vintage amp in need of work then look no further, just load your stuff up and take it to Trevor. The minute you walk into his shop youll know youre in the right place. Trevors ability to take these decades old and irreplaceable amps and make them sound as good or even better than new is incredible. He is a huge resource for us that are into true tone and worth every penny he charges. Thank you Trevor, keep up the great work, we need you!
Trevor worked on my 1966 Fender, Vibrolux Reverb. He performed a detailed test and provided a quote to replace tubes, caps and resistors that were bad and clean all pods. I plugged in my guitar the day I brought it home and the sound was amazing. Every time I power this amp up, I cant help but smile. Now it sounds as good as it looks. So glad to have found such an experienced technician with high integrity. I won’t trust anyone else to work on this vintage Fender amp. Trevor is awesome
Brought in a Matchless for a tune-up and a changeover from 220v to 110v. Trevor did an amazing job. The amp sounds out of this world and works as good if not better than the day it left the factory. If you want work done right, bring your amp(s) here. Will definitely visit again.
Trevor made my Sunn Sceptre sound fancy. He can also give you tips on where to get food that tastes good. 5 stars
Trevor worked on my 1954 Deluxe 5C3 and 1966 Super Reverb. He is easy to work with, thoughtful, and experienced. Both amps are sounding better than ever. Hes busy, so turn around time was generous - but I wasnt in a rush. Hes a great resource to have here in Portland.
Ive been bringing in vintage amps for over 4 years now to Trevor and been nothin but impressed every single time! His turn around time is worth the wait always, and hes one of those guys I can trust to know if the amp is worth to fix or not. He knows his stuff. Thanks Arcane!
My solid state combo amp was having clipping issues so I brought it in to Arcane Amplification on a whim. Im very happy with my decision as Trevor was very helpful. I paid the rush fee and two days later got a call letting me know that my amp was ready for pick up. Now my amp sounds better than it did out of the box!I would recommend this place to any of my friends having amp issues.
Trevor just repaired and added a few mods to my Blues Jr. and the difference in tone and sound flexibility is phenomenal. And, he made the buzzing vanish. Its better than new. He took the time to explain everything to me and even gave me a tour of his shop and some of the amazing amps hes working on. Coming back for more mods when I get more moola. Thanks Trevor.
Thanks to Trevor for breathing new life into my JCM 900 Marshall. Bought this amp used a few years ago, although it sounded good I never thought it was quite as loud and proud as a high gain Marshall should be. Then it blew all the fuses at once, so I took it into Trevor to be looked at. He found that the tubes were completely burned up and worked with me to pick out some replacements. I appreciate that he took the time to listen and discuss with me what sound I was aiming for, his expertise really helped me understand the options I had. He also replaced some resistors and cleaned up the pots. This amp breathes fire now, its like night and day. I gave him 5 stars even though the repair did take a long time. I think Trevor is a real master of amplifier repair and is in high demand, so sometimes you have to be patient for quality. I would definitely use this shop again.
Ive dubbed him Mr. Wizard.Trevor is fantastic. I had him tune up a couple of my amp heads. They came out sounding great. The real test was when I brought him a beat to hell vintage 65 deluxe reverb for restoration. The results were phenomenal. This is the guy you want to use.
Terrible experience. The youngster is most likely doing the best he can which isnt good enough. Wanted 3 weeks to give me an estimate onreplacing an input jack. 9 weeks later, no call yet. When I called, the boy mentioned that he was too busy to call me to inform me that hewas too busy to call me. A few more telling back and forth and itwas clear that he was way in over his head. Someday with yearsof experience he may be sharp technician with commercial discipline.Who knows. I can only hope. Until then....Ill bring my guitar amplifiers to workmen who are schooled in both the technical aspects of thiswork, and dedicated to nimble and sharp commercial discipline.
Trevor did an amazing job modding my Blues Jr - tone stack upgrade, standby switch install, and some overall tone adjustment and bias work. It sounds like a completely new amp in the best way possible, and he was also very accommodating with my rush schedule. Go here!
Trevor is very passionate about his work. Even though he was very busy, he took the time to carefully explain the upgrades to my Princeton Reverb. The amp was good before but now it just sings! Exactly the sound I was looking for. I will never go anywhere else.Thank you Trevor!
Im not one to post reviews but I gotta tell you Trevor is special. Hes the real deal. I took an amp to him because I had no choice. He did exactly what he said hed do for the exact price he said it would cost. No surprises, extra costs or normal BS that you get when you take sonething in for repair. The amp never sounded better now that its fixed. Hes so passionate about what he does. Without reservation Id use him again. Thanks so much Trevor.
Just got done having Trevor do a tone modification on 2005 Vox AC30CC2. We reviewed some ideas I found online mixed with some ideas that Trevor had to morph this raw sounding amp into a rich tone machine. I relied on Trevor to take my tonal desires as best I could put into words and translate that into component replacements to get me there. Trevor had some issues with cheap components along that way that made it a bit more challenging, but he made good on it all, and replaced some things that were off ticket. After test driving the amp, I was truly amazed at the change in character. It cant be put into words, but I am thrilled to the point of possibly taking a couple more steps with him to reach that elusive ultimate tone euphoria- Trevors last project of mine was an old 65 Kalamazoo Model II that needed repair, and that little guy is still alive and well too - thanks for the great work Trevor!
Trevor is awesome - very talented, knowledgeable, and creative. Great with old tube amps or designing & building custom new ones. And a whiz at tracking down obscure vintage parts!
Trevor worked on a 76 reverb deluxe of mine. Communication was straightfoward and easy going. Also the repairs were done in good time. This is the place ill keep going to get my amps repaired. 👍
Trevor did a superb job fixing up my Sunn Concert Bass! Its loud and thunderous again as it should be and Im really happy! Thanks again !
I take all my amps to Trevor. Hes gone the extra mile for me time and again and his work is excellent. Fair prices and hes got a wealth of knowledge. Check him out!
I did a lot of checking around with people in the music business before I went to Arcane, as the Bill from Showcase retired, and most of my Tube Amps are Boutique hand built, and over three grand.I felt real comfortable after talking to Trevor I felt he knew his stuff, and he was very knowledgeable, an easy to talk to. I explained my problem he said he could get to it in a week, and he had worked on Carr Mercury before. He called me and said it was done, had all my old parts to show me, no surprises, found the problem, put in a up grade on the caps. It was just like new. Thanks Trevor, a no BS guy.
I had one amplifier repaired there and it works great. Then I brought in two more over a year and a half ago and never heard anything back or ever got my amplifiers. I have been in and called so many times I just gave up, but I think Trevor lost, misplaced or threw them away, and never told me. I wouldnt go there again. Theres many other places to get equipment fixed. The free lance guys on craigslist have also been good every time I search for a repair guy.
Dude knows amps and also how to tweak and Mod amps to make them look and sound as good as they can. Only does the work that needs to be done or that you want done. Very good work and very reasonable.
Trevor has done an excellent job with my amps. He took great care of my 90s SVT Classic for years. He also let me borrow an old Sound City amp the he had overhauled while he was re-tubing my SVT. I loved the amp and he ended up giving me a great deal on it!Just recently I brought him an old solid state head that had some problems and he managed, with considerable effort and creativity, to get it working.
Trevor does great work. Wonderful attention to detail, super knowledgeable. Took a wacky old Sano in recently and it plays like a dream now
I’ve taken a few amps in to Trevor at Arcane. He does amazing work! Brought my Marshall JCM 2000 completely back to life when the motherboard was toast. Recently he did a complete modification to the circuitry of my Peavey 5150, and I can’t say enough about how amazing it sounds now! Trevor knows his stuff!
Awesome service. Needed my amp back in a few days and the amp was fixed on time and is sounding better than ever. Customer for life, thanks Trevor!
Love this place and this dude! Fixed a couple of things, an acoustic amp most recently. Would recommend!
Trevor rebuilt a 70s Fender Musicmaster Bass guitar amp for me. Used it for the first time at a gig last night and it sounded sweet. A little breakup playing a strat through it loud, but bring the level down a bit and it cleans up very nicely. Its a perfect rig for smaller clubs. Trevor helped the amp sound like it should.
Trevor is the man. I purchased an early 70s Twin Reverb from Old Town Music. About a month after the service warranty expired, the amp started to crap out on me. The guys over at Old Town are were nice, but had no idea on how to address the issues. After paying for two repairs at Old Town with nothing solved, a friend recommended Trevor at Arcane Amplification. Not only did Trevor fix all the issues, but he made it sound brighter and cleaner, completely eradicating the idle hum when Im on certain pickups. Turned it around in a week and a half for an upcoming session. Super knowledgeable.
This place is great! Good rates, great service and got my amp up and running again in a weeks time.
Trevor did an excellent job soldering a board for me and got my unit back to full function. Thank YOU! -George
Blew a transformer on my Orange AD 140 handwire on tour in Vacouver, BC. Had a friend recommend Arcane Amp Repair in Portland. Called up Trevor and he did a rush job to get fixed up with new transformers and new NOS caps and tubes in 3 hours!!! Dropped it off at 2pm and he got it working just in time for soundcheck. Such a life saver for being on the road! Also got to check out all his cool custom amp builds, Marshall clones etc. Definitely will be working with Trevor in the future on some custom projects. Highly recommend, very professional and has being doing it for over 15 years!
Trevor is a wizard of an amazing tech. Everything Ive brought him that he gets near ends up sounding twice as good as when I brought it in!
Trevor took excellent care of me. I live out of town and he was able to receive a Marshall 100SLP from a Craigslist seller and do a pre-purchase diagnostic on it for me (inspect it, test tubes, clean all the pots, pins, sockets, etc.) and give it a clean bill of health to insure my purchase was sound. He did all this super fast and at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended. Great guy to work with! Thanks buddy!!!
Trevor is always spot on. I took him a vintage Vox 6TB and its now the best sounding amp I have ever heard. No lie. I will be back.
Trevor is awesome to work with and my amp was not only repaired but is more badass than ever!
Blackfaced my 1969 vibrolux with genuine NOS capacitors, now it is the most amazing sounding amp i have ever heard!!!
Trevor did an awesome job getting my Deluxe Reverb back in shape. As a handwired copy, it had some modifications in the circuit, and I took it to Trevor to have him get it back to a stock blackface circuit. He did a terrific job, cleaning up various grounding issues as well as removing the aftermarket mods. When I dropped it off, I told him I needed it in around a month for a string of gigs. He had the amp completed right before that weekend. Ive since put around 20 hours of playtime into the amp and it sounds and behaves just as it should. Trevor knows his classic amp circuits very well and I highly recommend his shop!
This is the best place to bring vintage amps. Trevor is super pro and always make your amp sound the best it can. Last time he fixed a 65 Ampeg by tracking down a NOS pot from weeks within the production of the amp from some Ampeg surplus and this time made my 62 Supro sound so damn good with a couple minor improvements. Pros use him and were lucky to be able to as well. Go Arcane when you need amp repairs. Thanks Trevor!
Trevor knows his stuff!
Awesome place! Trevor is an awesome guy that knows a lot about amps.
My 50 year old Fender Twin starting sounding bad. I took it into Arcane and it is singing again!!!!! Highly recommend this shop.
Guy is a complete burnout, and VERY sketchy/untrustworthy. I wouldnt trust him with my money or my gear. Also, on top of that, he has the highest prices around.
My go-to place for any amp repair I need. Friendly owner and a job well done.
Trevor has worked on a ton of stuff for me and every time he exceeds my expectations. I wont take my amps anywhere else.
