I broke down just up the road from this mechanic due to a fuel pump failure and more-or-less coasted to my destination. No way was I getting anywhere. The folks there very kindly pushed my vehicle in for service when I asked if they could fit me in. I work nearby, so I was able to walk back to the office. I needed the replacement of quite a few components relating to the fuel system (Keep your car gassed, folks) including the filter, the pump, the relay and the module. They fixed my car through the next day and finished it up the morning after that, which is quite reasonable for a busy joint.I knock off a star for one thing- my bill included a $380 fuel pump. Thats pretty far on the high end of pricing for my vehicle, which typically goes online for about $200 for an upper-middle end daily driver part. The other parts were less expensive, but still about double what youd pay near anywhere else. Obviously I expect a bit of markup at any mechanic when I dont bring my own parts, but even a $712 bill would sting a bit less than a $930 one. The repair itself, though, seems perfect thus far.

I take all my vehicles here. I had an issue with them once, but they corrected it on the spot. I love this garage. Good people to deal with too. 5 stars because their mechs are good to deal with.

Well I am very very p offi pick up my vehicle on 30th around 3 come 7 I set on 81 Apparently they charged me almost $900 for not the problem now my truck wont even trun over

We needed to have an alignment done and they were able to fit us in same day. We found out that was not the issue and it was quickly offered to be fixed. The price was very high for a $100 part. But thats to be expected at a shop. We were treated fairly and things explained very well and fair price for just the inspection.

Went to have one of my tires looked at because it was loosing air. First the guy told me it was because the air at Sheetz was poorly calibrated. Then, after I told him I checked it with the cars internal system and with my own PSI measurer, he told me it was because of temperature changes. I explained to him that it was only one of the tires that was losing air and the PSI wasnt rising even after driving on it for 20+ minutes. He wouldnt listen to me and just put more air in my tire and told me to come back. Tire is still losing air but I wouldnt go back here. Two stars for the free air I guess.

Was a great place until about February. Definitely wont be returning. The manager used racial slurs when speaking about a different customer in front of me and my family. I had to explain yup my 3 year old what the n word means and why it should never be said. Completely disgusting behavior from the General manager Hunter.

My granddaughter hit a pothole and complained of a new noise. Since she is going to Radford and I live 4.5 hours away I couldnt go look at it. She took it in and they test drove it. They couldnt find any real issue at the moment. Said it could be a wheel bearing going bad, but they didnt push replacement on her which they easily could have. They said it was hard to tell but just keep an eye on it for now. In this day to find an honest shop not pushing work on people is unheard of. It is nice to know that there is an honest shop close by if she needs it. And to top it off they did not charge her anything. Thank you guys for being able to totally trusted. Wish you were closer as I would highly recommend you to all our friends.

I came here to have my new tires put on and an inspection. I love the professionalism and service, everyone here is very kind and friendly. I waited maybe 20 minutes if that and that is wonderful, especially for tire installation. I would recommend them to anyone and will be returning for all of my car care. Thank you all so much!

Boyfriends car was towed due to not having a parking pass and parking overnight. We paid what was owed and left only to drive less than 8 miles only to hear a large boom noise. Pulled over and see that the shrouding has been broken, split in two and scratched up by their towing. If youre going to be a towing business, do it right.. your job is to tow if theres a parking violation. Not to tow and break a persons car. It was just bought because he got in a wreck Jan 16 that totaled his old car. Now weve got this to deal with. Poor business and improper towing. Shouldnt have a business that goes around breaking peoples cars. I read other reviews that this place broke things on previous peoples cars. Thats not how you make business, its the quickest way to get yourself a lawsuit.

Called to see if it was possible to get a car inspected and was told yes come there in 2 hours. So instead of finding someone to do it at a quicker time I trusted they would do what they said. I get there give my info and was told to give them my keys. Went outside to wait and 5 minutes later they brought me my keys and said they couldnt do it. Not good on there word...

My transmission broke down in Fancy Gap Mountain. I called AAA and they recommended I have my car towed to University BP. My contact here was Steve and he went above and beyond keeping me informed on my car repair every step of the way! I was offered repair options and thorough explanations. . He had perfect customer service ... He under promised and over delivered!!!!! My car was repaired and I was back on the road before I expected to be. Absolutely perfectly clean and really kind people

They broke the oil pressure switch on my car while doing an oil change, which cost me an additional $150 at another mechanic to fix.After getting my cars oil changed here, I drove about 1000 miles to my parents for Christmas. When I got there I realized my car was covered in oil, check the dipstick and it was completely dry. Who knows how long I was driving with no oil in there and what other damage could’ve been caused.I was looking all around the motor and noticed the source of the oil was around the oil filter. My cars oil pressure switch is directly below the filter. I brought it to a mechanic immediately to have it looked at and was told that the oil pressure switch was bent and had ruined where it threads into the engine block. Fortunately it was able to be rethreaded and can install a new part.Will not be returning here after that. My cars whole engine could’ve been destroyed from one simple oil change gone wrong.

Honestly this place has been so insanely good to me that I cannot believe they dont have more stars. They have done excellent work, done it for way cheaper than any other shop in the area, and have gone above and beyond what I would have expected on numerous occasions. I love University BP in Radfoard. My husband and I always take our vehicles there for any service needed. We are willing to travel 30 miles because we trust Greg (owner) and his mechanics completely. I was on my way to Baltimore from Chattanooga. My transfer case gave out on Interstate 81. AAA recommended I get towed to this station. The owner runs the station which has four repair bays. He is a good Christian man, working the shop very professionally. All the mechanics working at the shop are ASE certified. They put my truck up on a lift and put a scope into the transfer case and showed me where it had failed. They found another transfer case that was being rebuilt about two hours away. They said they could get it there mid day the next day. They took me to a hotel, and picked me up the next morning. They had my truck repaired and I was on the road by 10am the next morning, and they did it for about 20% less than a Ford dealership did it for nine years ago. I highly recommend this BP station. This is a college town. If your son or daughter goes to college and needs service from a shop you can trust, this is the place. They gave me the very best service, they went above and beyond my expectations. And the pricing was very fair.

I have visited this place since moving to The NRV ten years ago. It has changed ownership but not at all in service. I’m always treated with respect as a woman and they have always went above and beyond to take care of any needs. I had four new tires and an oil change last Saturday in less than 1 and a half. They are always accommodating and the bathrooms are super clean and nice for your convenience while you wait. Always my go to!

Great Experience. I had a tire breakdown in a snowstorm and the mechanics there bounced my tire in the matter of 20 minutes, balancing included. The people there were exceptionally nice and also handled the work quickly and professionally. Overall it was a good price for the service and the mechanics were great.

Got my car inspected here. They were super quick and the staff were very friendly. I was late getting my car inspected and all of the other mechanics in the area had 3+ hour waits. There was surprisingly no wait here!

People beware, I went in for a simple oil change only to find out they couldnt couldnt put a plug back in rightUpdate: 2013 Black GT Mustang CS. Yes you did service it. Yes you failed to do one of the most simple jobs possible. Congrats on the bs response. Also you probably shouldn’t cuss at customers. Neither me or my finance would ever get gas or anything from your shop if it was the last one on earth.

This garage is the literal worst. I have dealt with a many of garages in my life so far and I have never been treated so insignificant. I went to this garage twice, once for an inspection and another time to have my bottom guard removed from the car because a bolt came off. The first time I came to get my inspection my car had checked out good with the exception of my license plate bulb had blown. I asked, if instead of giving me a rejection sticker and making me come back could they just replace the bulb and I would pay them for it. They refused and told me that I needed to change it myself or bring it back another time and they would change it and then pass my inspection. So, I had to take time out of my schedule to change the bulb myself and bring my car back again to have it reinspected where I waited for nearly two hours to have them re-inspect the car and charge me the additional fee to have it reinspected. The second time I came there I had the splash guard on the bottom of my car come loose. I brought it in to have it removed and hopefully talk about replacing it. Instead, I waited for around 30 minutes for my car to even be put on the lift. Once on the lift they removed the guard asked me if I wanted to come see it and was told they would not replace it because it would be pointless. Furthermore, while looking at my car on the lift I noticed that there was some impacted snow under the car. I of course, wanted to have it removed and when I reached out to try and pull it out myself; several techs in the garage rushed over and forcefully removed me from the garage. I didnt make a fuss in the moment, after all of that they took my car down from the lift threw out my old splash guard and charged me $40.00 for removing 6 bolts and removing a part from my vehicle. Also, to add insult to injury one of the techs/employees came out to smugly thank me and to come back soon as he laughed and walked away. This garage is so greedy and not willing to help, there are many other garages to pick from and I would not recommend this one to anyone!

The staff went above and beyond to help me get my car fixed and inspected. Exceptional customer service, and everything was done in a timely fashion, even with how busy they were. I will be having all of my car work done here from now on.

I locked my keys in my car, and called AAA for an unlock service. Their tow truck driver was sent out, and was as careful as he could be, but an older Mercedes is hard to get into. The door frame was slightly bent, resulting in wind noise, while driving. I contacted AAA, got an estimate for repair, had the owner of the shop look at it. He paid for the repairs on the spot, without any fuss whatsoever. Honesty and customer service like that is hard to find these days.

My husband took our daughter’s new car to have it’s first oil change (she’s had the car less than a week) intentionally to a place at Radford to establish a business that she could use while at school. He came back so very excited for what he had found. Full service station (WOW), people who can help with little things like air in the tires, windshield wipers, oil changes, mechanics, towing, and the friendliest most efficient customer service ever. We are highly recommending to students/families on campus.

The workers are rude. I’ve had my car serviced there in the past and used to get gas often. It was never a great experience. The other day I stopped by to clean my car out and one of the garage workers came over and asked if I was getting gas. I said, “not today just needed to clean my car out.” The grey haired man sarcastically said, “I appreciate you filling the trash can up now I have to empty it.” Even though it was already full and should have been emptied earlier. They’re also known for scamming the college students. I’ll never get gas here or let them touch my car again.

As a delivery driver, Im on a first name basis with these guys, and for a reason. If I need an oil change (which I do about once a month) they usually have it done within the hour. And if I have a weird sound or vibration, theyll diagnose it, and if its something that doesnt need replacement right away, theyll tell me, which saves me quite a bit of money. And their repairs are quality. They replaced my whole transmission, and its still going strong after 20,000 miles! 10/10 would recommend to friends and fam.

I love the staff at this location. They have helped me several times when I thought my car was done for! They are always very friendly, reasonable, clearly communicate with you while servicing your vehicle, and get the job done incredibly fast. I always trust that they will do a great job and do right by their customers. I love them and recommend them to anyone in the Radford area. Ill be sad to lose them when I move from this area!

New Owner, better serviceThe shop has a new owner, one of the previous mechanics. The guys have always been polite but now you have a reliable trustworthy sociable person who will do right by you. I hated the old owner and refused to do business with him. I like the new kid. He has invested his life savings to make this a well-respected and liked place of business. This only happened within the last couple of months. Please give them another try if you had previous issues with the shop. The new kid is trying really hard.

A while back, I took my truck here because my radiator was leaking coolant all over the place, I called and scheduled an appointment and the guy who answered the phone seemed nice at first. I drove over at my scheduled time to get my truck diagnosed, they diagnosed it as the radiator being defective, the guy who I spoke with on the phone suggested I call the website I got the previous radiator from and get another one from there delivered to them. I called about a week later and the same guy I talked to before picked up, I said that I was there a week prior and got my truck diagnosed for a bad radiator and I asked if the radiator was delivered to them, the first thing he said was “WE DIDN’T REPLACE NO RADIATOR ON NO FORD EXPLORER OR SPORT TRAC!!!!” I then tried to make it clear that they only diagnosed it and was asking if it was delivered and he just continued to yell at me with the same tone as an angry teacher yelling at his class. After he finally realized the reason I called in the first place, he angrily said that no radiator was ever delivered to them. Let’s just say that after this experience, I won’t be going to this shop ever again.

I am very inexperienced when it comes to cars and was nervous about taking my car to get worked on because I didn’t want to get over charged or scammed. I came here and they were very friendly. They started working on my car right away and I didn’t even have an appointment. On top of everything else I had to rush off to class. They kept me informed and let me know what needed to be done and by the time class was over my car was ready to be picked up.This is by far the best experience I’ve had and if I need anything done to my car I will only go to them.

These guys here are absolutely a blessing. Long story short. Car over heated cut off found this place using Google. They replace my water pump and alternator belt very quickly change my tired only charged $35 these guys were nice and very professional. In and out quality service I will def recommend these guys. Stop by and check them out for all your car needs.

This place will take advantage of you for anything. They are just out to make a dollar. They will tell you that things are wrong with your vehicle even if it is fine, and happily charge you way too much for an expensive replacement. DO NOT go here even for an emergency. Travel a few more miles and save both your time and money.

I looked up this shop to see when they open, and I was suprised to see they had a 3.5 rating (at the time of this review). I didnt know much about the old owner, so I cannot speak to the service then; however, the new owner (Jake) is awesome. Jake is an outstanding mechanic, businessman, and all around good guy. I have used University BP for everything (even some stuff most garages wouldnt help with). I called Jake more times than I would like to admit asking him about cars when I was shopping for a new one. He took the time to tell me everything he knew about them, every time. I now exclusively use this garage, and would highly reccomend them to anyone, for anything.

I made appt. for rear brakes to be replaced. Car was immediately taken back when I arrived. 2 staff worked on brakes, this really lessened the wait time. Reasonably priced, friendly service. Ill be returning for future services.

We had a breakdown on the Sunday before Labor day weekend and AAA recommended we have the car towed this shop. When we were dropping the car off I noticed no key drop box, and was little too careful to just leave the car with the keys in it in a town and area that I did not know. When I called their emergency number later I was gruffly advised that that was exactly what I was supposed to do. This surprised me and I became a little apprehensive about the experience that lay ahead of me the next day. I decided that I would rather walk there from the hotel the next morning and be there when they open.I arrived and spoke to the first two gentlemen. They assured me that they would contact me before, I believe, it was 10. I walked back to the hotel and waited until well after 10, when I decided to call them. It was a few calls back and forth explaining progress and so forth, before we received the car at about 2pm and we were ready for the rest of our journey home.The Pros -They were open on Labor day!All the folks that I interacted with, except for the first gentleman on Sunday evening, were very friendly and kindThey did an excellent job of hunting down and ordering the parts needed from distributors who were actually open on Labor DayThe fixes were done very quickly once the parts arrivedThe fixes were done properlyThere is room for improvement on -They really need a key drop boxCommunication needs to happen as per agreement - this greatly influences the image you project to your customer

Incredibly quick

I told the men that work here I will come back to them anyday for work on my car. My finance and I were traveling from South Carolina to Pa and our water pump locked up and the car kept turning off from overheating. We looked this place up on Google and they told us to bring it in. We were there and out with a new water pump, alternator belt and a new tire all within about an hour. Nice people, fast service and great adorable prices.

Just stopped by for gas. Got a snack while there. Its clean and staff good too.

They replaced the engine in my 2006 Ford Focus. They found the engine, gave me a price and completed the job in two days for the price they quoted. Could not be more impressed. They are great mechanics.

In response to the previous review, my car was actually NOT looked at by the owner nor did the owner “inform me the tire did look low and needed to be checked for a leak” because he wasn’t even standing near my car, he was also facing the wrong set of wheels. He said “we are all busy, but can you come back later.” I’ve been getting gas here for a year now and it’s a shame I couldn’t get help. I was on a deadline to an appointment almost 2 hrs away and trying to fix my low tire. I know there are other people who have car appointments, but the students should be able to rely on the help of this business in emergencies. Not honest and not reliable. I’m surprised this is considered “university” BP.—if someone asks for help putting air in their tires, chances are that means they don’t know how. So whether it was free or not, I asked for help—

As a owner of a Auto Body Repair shop myself I wasnt sure of who to call in the Radford area when my daughter had a flat tire. She goes to Radford University. I contacted University BP Auto Repair and they towed my daughters vehicle back to their shop and performed the necessary repairs. The towing charge was inexpensive and the owner and his employees are excellent. I would recommend this business for all your needs. Thanks again! Roger Davis

The worst place ever! My hair bag is on so i went there in early morning! They said they will check it! I waited for them all day! They called me twice saying my car will be ready in an hour! This people didn’t even tuch my car !! 😡

Do not waste your time going to this place. All they want is your money. I went there to get a state inspection and they failed and said I had about $1000 worth of things wrong. I knew what they were telling me was bs. I went to dons auto repair shop because a good friend of recommended it to me. They where great knew what needed to be fixed and what could wait. It only cost me $380 to get my car fixed, inspected, and back on the road. I repeat everyone I know recommends to never go to this shop. I will not even buy gas at this place.

My brakes felt very weird one day so we called and they came and got my car from my apartment. They had the work done in one day like they said they would. They stuck by the price they said from the beginning and stayed true to their word. We would definitely go there again.

This place is a rip-off. all they want is your money, they cut corners, smoke in the car and dont do quality work. you might as well just flush your money down the toilet. they are rude and the owner was very disrespectful. i went in to get my car in timing and they didnt finish the job, i went back and demanded it be finished and he cussed at me, walked away and ignored me, lastly he wouldnt refund my money. If you’re young and look like a college student, make sure you have a hidden camera in your vehicle if you use their service. They will purposely mess things up with your vehicle so you bring it back and give them more money. I brought my car in for an expection, which they passed, only for countless number of problems to occur when I picked it up. Never had a problem with my vehicle before but all the sudden my transmisson is done after the inspection? This is a shady business.

Our experience was good, but for crying out loud... put receipt paper in your pumps! Some people have to turn in receipts to employers or keep for tax purposes.

Yesterday at roughly 8:00am I had a tow truck from @universitybpradford come to my apartment to pick my truck up. Before I went to work they assured me that they had it all handled and my truck would be at the shop of my choosing. Roughly 15 minutes later i received a call from the owner of the company who was also the one operating the tow truck, saying I needed to get back to my building immediately. Not thinking anything of it I locked work and headed on my merry way back home. To my surprise I saw my truck down the hill and into the back of my apartment complex. Obviously I went off on the operator who had the audacity to tell me to calm down and that it wasnt his fault, even though his chains were still attached to my truck. All in all everyone should never use @universitybpradford for any vehicle needs what so ever unless you want your vehicle damaged more than it already is.

I have always had good experiences with university bp. The poor reviews made me sceptical on taking my car to this shope at first but once I did I regretted not using them sooner. The first time I went there was the day before Christmas Eve and they were the only shope open. I knew something was wrong with my car because two other shops told me it was leaking oil, but couldn’t figure out why. The mechanics at bp found out the problem within 10 minutes. Their prices are fair and they always finish the work as quickly as possible because they are not understaffed like every other shope. On top of that they are always kind, seem to really care for the customers safety, and make sure that the customer is satisfied with their repairs. My fiancé and I really appreciate everyone at the university bp and make sure to tell everyone that they are the best.

Wanted a drink, saw the yes we are open sign, expected them to be open, but it was closed. Went to the vending machine, paid for a lemonade, and out comes an already mostly consumed lemonade. SERIOUSLY?! who does that?! Thats absolutely disgusting and inexcusable. Wasted my time and my money.O and it seemed like at least half of the pumps had issues.

If you are a young college student DO NOT use their service! They are very rude and talk to you like you do not know how a car operates as well as over charge you. I went in for them to change my headlight out with a new one. Instead what hey did was replace my old headlight with a USED OLD FALTIY lightbulb and ontop of that it was the wrong lightbulb for my headlights. A simple fix that any autoshop should know how to do properly but, instead I was scammed around 34$ for a USED FALTIY LIGHTBULB that wasnt even the correct lightbulb for my car headlights. Only 30min after driving my car, the lightbulb failed! I also told them to not start service to my car until they gave me a price point and what type of lightbulb they were using and Instesd started working on my car before they told me how much pricing was. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT COME HERE! Waste of money and complete disrespect

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. Run by a bunch of greedy morons. Will say anything to make an extra dollar. A few weeks ago I had extensive maintenance work done on my truck through my dealership. They check everything and said I would be good for inspection which was coming up not even a month later. Less than a month later... hey what do you know, I magically need a new part. I took my business to the car doctors down the street and passed, they said no new part was needed.Honestly the Better Business Bureau should investigate them.

This place will get you if you go here worst place Ive ever been tryed to rip me off tryed put things do things that I didnt needed and wayyy over charge me thats why I walked out and letting everyone know

Staff was friendly but my issue is the fact that they find things they are wrong and insist you get it fixed by them. And they have high rates for the services. I dont know if its because the close proximity to college students but I wont return for any future services.

They couldnt find a leak in my wifes tire, and told her just to keep an eye on it. They charged my wife $20 to locate leak in tire, patch puncture and replace valve stem (where applicable), even though they did nothing but remove the wheel and reinstall it. It took me 30 seconds to spray some soapy water on the tire and locate a 2 long cut in between the treads. Maybe Ill stop in and show them the magic leak-finding liquid I used (Spoiler alert: its Windex).

Do not EVER use this place, I wont even by gas from them.I am disturbed about the business practices and dangerous actions of the body shop.My wife and I recently moved to Charlotte and she bought a new car. Her old car (a 2011 Toyota Prius that we’ve never had an issue with) had its inspection lapse. We sold it to her mom, and drove it north to drop it off. Once we hit Virginia we dropped our car off at the Radford BP for a safety inspection (Safety being a keyword) thinking one hour and we would be on our way. We immediately got a call from BP, saying we have multiple light bulbs out. I went and looked at the car but I didn’t seem to have an option but to pay for new light bulbs so I paid for the bulbs and inspection and left. This was Saturday Morning.Not even one hour after leaving the BP station I’m driving behind my wife on Rt 81 going 70 MPH. All of the sudden the accelerator stopped working and every light turned on on the dashboard. I didn’t realize it but the car went in to limp mode while I was driving on the highway and shut itself off. Rt 81 is notorious for having Tractor trailers, and with no power, I had to dangerously navigate myself from the left lane all the way over to the right to the shoulder. Both my wife and I were stopped on the shoulder of the highway that was barely wider than my car, not a comfortable or safe situation at all.I immediately had a pit in my stomach that the BP station had done something wrong. I called them and let them know as much, they immediately said they’ll send a driver and said they’ll fix the issue no charge (covering up for a mistake they clearly made, but wouldn’t admit to). I said no, we will get our own tow truck. 10 minutes later the driver called and said the owner was making him come and not giving him an option. The driver was actually a nice guy and was more sincere than the people at the actual station so I let him take it. After they looked at the car they told me the coolant hose popped off while I was driving because the clamp holding it “lost its clampiness”- yes those are exact words used by their “Master tech”. They told me not to worry, and that they had talked to the local Toyota dealer and would drop my car off for me again Sunday afternoon “Free of charge”.Monday morning, I called the Toyota dealership, they had no records of a 2011 Toyota Prius being dropped off. Finally midafternoon, I got in touch with the service department and they said they found a white Prius that was dropped off near the service area with no note as to why, or any type of explanation of what the situation was. I just spoke with the Toyota Dealership and after the diagnostic review that cost $98 he informed me that as a direct result of the coolant tube being knocked off it blew the electrical water pump which costs over $900 to replaceThe tech at BP also made it a point to tell me they have the same computer as the Toyota dealership which shows that they 100% knew what the damage was and 100% lied to me about it.I called the BP tech and tried to have a professional conversation with him, he was not apathetic or understanding at all. Not only that, he threatened to charge me for the “free” tow the owner pretty much forced on me 2 days before.Of all the situations I’ve encountered that involved working with body shops, this has by far been the most violating, unprofessional, and frustrating experience I’ve ever dealt with. The University BP should not be allowed to damage cars to the point that could ruin their value, and more importantly, prevents the vehicle from functioning safely. This was a “safety inspection” that ended up putting me in more danger on the highway than one running light ever could.
