Great place with lots of hiking equipments. Lots of associates walking around asking and making sure you taken care of and ready to help. The store itself is 2 stories, bottom store is for biking, hiking and some gum equoiments while the second floor is mostly clothing and shoes. The prices however is quite high for most of their brands. They also carry loads of camping necessities and tents.

I took my bike here after other shops in the area said they were too backed up with order to work on mine and someone recommended REI North Hills. I had a great experience. They took their time going over the bike, gave me a reasonable estimate, and I actually ended up paying less. Bike work was finished in 24 hours! Other places in the area said it would be 5 weeks or more before Id get it back. Everyone was friendly, professional and a pleasure to work with.

I have been a happy REI customer for over two decades. Todays visit was a great example of why that is so. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful (I spoke with more than one, and more than simply transactional). One of them suggested I check out their garage sale section, where I found a great deal on an item Ive been on the lookout for (very happy with that). I found some clothing I wanted, but the staff informed me that a sale is coming in a few days so I might want to wait, which of course was great advice. This is why I keep coming back to REI, in addition to the quality of the products they carry.

I love the REI store in North Hills! I stopped by today to pick up some Eno straps because I forgot to buy them with my Eno on my previous trip to the Cary REI store. A very helpful guy named Morgan helped us find them and pick out the right straps for us. I also picked up some Nuuns too! A very kind man named Justin rang us up at the register. I was very impressed by this visit. I’ll be back! I love REI! 💙

Great selection of equipment for hiking, biking, camping and so much more.Prices arent the most competitive but the quality mattress the price.Return policy is excellent.Staff is fantastic and knowledgeable. They have outdoor experience which makes helping choose the correct equipment for your needs a breeze.Dont forget to check out the garage sale... These are well discounted items that have been returned for various reasons. We got a name-brand tent at a third off the price; the (previous) owner returned it sheet one use because it didnt meet his needs. REI let us sweet up the tent in the store to make sure everything was included add the tent was in good shape. Be aware though, items bought from the garage sale cannot be returned.Oh, join the loyalty program! Currently its lifetime membership for $20. You can easily Dave more than that on a single item on sale.

Awesome team members that worked together to solve something that wasnt even outdoor adventure gear related.I was in a jam due to address with lace in the front that went too low so I needed something strapless to wear under it. Despite multiple luxury dress stores in the shopping area none of the womens clothing stores had solutions for me.I took a shot in the dark and asked the guy at REI if they sold anything at all strapless, and after talking on the mic with his team members he said somebody suggested a buff as a tube top. This was by far the best save moment Ive ever had from a retail employee!!!Thank you so much!!!!

Trish was amazing. She spent so much time helping my husband and I. Shes very knowledgeable and a pleasure to have worked with. I was torn between 2 tents but with only one on display I committed myself to that one. Trish asked if we wanted to set up the non displayed one to which we did. Brought in a bike I’d picked up used. The team at REI helped me transition the accessories from my current bike to the new one, tuned up the new bike and took extra care to be sure the tires held their pressure. They also followed up on my inquiry regarding a kickstand and brought one in from a sister store. Everything done in just 2 days! Special thanks to Derek Frank for his great customer service and bike enthusiasm!

Tried to order a new pair of work boots for my bday. After spending two day on the phone, rei informed me that the package was lost and won’t arrive. The offered to resend another pair and restart the whole process over again after I waited 6days for nothing. I opted to cancel and accept refund. They refunded some money for the purchase, but kept some for the shipping and handling fees. When I brought this discrepancy to their attention their solution was to send me a $15 gift card.So not only did I not get a pair of shoes that I ordered I had to spend two days on the phone with customer service trying to figure out where they were. I got robbed out of my shipping and handling, $15 gift card has no use for me because I will no longer be doing any business with this company after this fiasco.

We had a great experience today with Lori who helped my son learn to tie his shoes so they wouldnt come undone! She took her time with us and helped us find the right shoes for both myself and my son. Thanks!

Laine and the other employees were so friendly and helpful. They helped me for over an hour trying to figure out a shoe that would fit my very particular and unique needs, and were remarkably transparent about the pros and cons of different shoes. Eventually we settled on a shoe that I think is likely to fulfill my needs. So far I am very pleased with my experience.

The staff here is always so friendly and knowledgeable and the member benefits are well worth the one time fee of like $20. Ive been a member since 2005 and between the reward dividends and the 20% off coupons that happen a few times through the year I have more than paid off for it. Save $35 with the last 20% coupon alone.This particular location is my favorite and typically has what Im looking for but I always have an excellent experience no matter which store I visit.

Rei is the example of quality customer service. Prices can be higher in some cases than other places but the level of service you get before and after the sale is well worth the extra 10%. There was a short line as they were limiting capacity due to covid and masks are required. A responsible store for both conservation and pandemic.

Always a great experience at REI. Went in today for advice on a bike rack and Doug walked out to check the rack on my car to make sure we installed it properly. Doug and the team with the bike shop have always been incredibly knowledgeable and kind in sharing that knowledge. Would highly recommend them for your bike or bike gear needs.Furthermore - in the midst of reopening during a pandemic, REI did an excellent job of communicating social distancing and mask wearing expectations. They had a team member literally greeting guests upon arrival and explaining their shopping requirements. As always - thank you REI for a great shopping experience! I went into your store today to take advantage of the sale and buy some winter hiking clothesElizabeth was so helpful and pointed my in the best direction for pants and a base layer! I’ve never worn either as I would normally just go to the woods in jeans and that wasn’t the best.Natalie was great helping me find warm boots and Ellie, at the register as so sweet.I don’t normally shop in these kinds of stores unless there’s a sale because, honestly, it’s just unaffordable, but at least there’s credit cards and really wonderful group of women making sure I get all the right stuff!🖤

Courteous and helpful staff, covid precautions taken very seriously, excellent selection, pleasant atmosphere.

The Raleigh store is a good one but mostly because it’s often filled by loyal, hard working employees. However I’ve been a member for over 4O years and sadly, I no longer think REI is a good company.My issue with them is simple greed. Often they mark up their prices at least 10% more than what you can buy the same item for somewhere else. Then they tell new members they will get a dividend in the Spring. But it’s really not a dividend because REI has already recouped whatever dividends they give out (by their overpricing in the first place). If you don’t believe me, do a little price matching.Then for very long time, REI stood out among all their peers — to large extent by their no questions asked easy and generous return policy.That return policy has changed dramatically in the last few years. It is no longer a great policy.Of more concern though is their more recent efforts to sell and profit from used gear that no longer works. Much of this gear is junk sold by REI to a third party but amazingly, is still sold on the REI website! Not only that, but I recently bought an air mattress that was marked “used excellent condition” but only lasted a couple of days. Unfortunately, since I was traveling I was not able to return the item on the 33rd day. This is because they are selling junk, misleading people by assessing it as in “excellent condition” (and only offer a 3O day limited return). You also can’t take your item over to your local store for return, even if you are inside this 30 day warranty.Be warned. Things change. REI is a shadow of the company they used to be.I’m cancelling a membership that I’ve had for over 40 years.Ok check that ... I spoke too soon. REI did come through and issue me a kind of refund (the day after the original review) . Maybe after they saw this review? Not sure, but I still appreciate it. Changing my rating from 1 star to 3, as Im still not happy about the hassle or the pricing.

Love this place. Karl in the bike shop exemplifies the level of attention and customer service you get here. Yes, it’s not cheap, but it’s quality gear you’ll keep and use for a long time.

The best outdoor retailer in Raleigh. While it isnt locally owned like another big store in the area, it is a co-op. Joining is easy and you get money back every year. The best place to go for gear and they have a very knowledgeable staff that can recommend hikes, camping spots, etc. I could spend hours in REI just browsing.

Im in love with this store. This REI is clean, staff is so approachable and friendly, and the garage sale was unbelievable this year. The selection in every department is great, and all areas are very well marked. Id trust the expertise of any staff member I crossed paths with, too. Let me say this, REI is an amazing store with some of the best products for all of your outdoor needs. However, this particular made me feel judged and the employees were not helpful. First, let me say that my wife and I are overweight, but guess what, we aren’t as overweight as we used to be because we exercise a lot and are really active. I suggested my wife check out a book on hiking the mountains of NC. We grabbed a seat on the bench and she flipped through to see someof the hikes they recommend. Well, an employee comes over and says “Taking a break?!” Like we were so winded by his tiny store that we just couldn’t make it without sitting down. I let him know we were previewing a book and he said “you aren’t co-op members are you?” Like we jut stumbled in. Well, as a matter of fact we are and he could tell he was annoying me at this point so he left.Then we go upstairs to look at some boots. I picked up 3-4 pair and checked out their features. I really wanted to see if they had a particular pair in a 15 I didn’t see anyone that worked there. I went to grab my wife to see what she thought of the boots and by then there were 3 employees bantering about their favorite cities in Colombia and weren’t the least bit interested in helping so I left.Greensboro is the store we normally go to and everyone is super nice and super helpful. I highly recommend going to that store instead of you can.

Ordered online. Picked it up curbside pickup. Checked in when I got there and they brought it out to me in about 5min or so. Easy Peasy.👍

It was great! I dont normally leave reviews after a first visit but it was an incredible experience. They talked to me about everything I might need, helped me pick out a pack that was well suited to my needs and gave me advice on how I can make use of the things I bought.They are a bit expensive so if youre on a tight budget Id just order online. But if youre unsure of what you want or need definitely give them a look. It seems like most of them have been hiking or backpacking before and they knew what they were talking about.Like any retail business they have a kind of rewards thing. You pay like $20 to become a member and you get a bunch of seasonal deals. Theres a return policy of just under a year so you can return something if it doesnt end up working well for you. But I doubt Ill need to return anything simply because they made sure I got the right stuff.All in all, an excellent visit that Im sure will be repeated.

Great medium sized store. If they dont have the color or size youre looking for, you or the staff can order the right thing from the website for delivery to your house (sometimes a delivery fee) or to the store (no extra fee). Employees are usually very helpful. Nice, laid back atmosphere.

Would have been fine if we didnt get asked literally everything 3 minutes if we were finding everything alright by a different employee. Theres a fine line between good customer service and making a shopping experience negative, and they jumped straight into the negative side just from the constant barrage of questioning. Let people wander and browse, thats part of the joy of shopping at REI, but apparently not anymore. Definitely will try to order online now, because I dont want to shop somewhere that I cant shop in peace.

REI Raleigh was my first REI that I have ever been to and the customer service couldnt have been better!Calvin promptly offered his assistance and helped me with my questions about hiking boots & garage sales. In fact he inspired me to purchase an REI membership and attend the garage sale where I found my now-favorite Salomon GTX 4D boots for a killer price!!All the staff here are extremely friendly and knowledgable and I cant recommend you stop anywhere else for your outdoor gear. Ill be back again and again so Calvin watch out for me!

This is an amazing store ...everyone should visit even if you are not hiking up a mountain and sleeping in a tent! It has two levels and all the products are neatly arranged so you can see them. Everyone needs a winter parka and gloves...I guarantee youll find yours here. I am not a bicyclist but it seems there is a lot of equipment here. There is a large selection of computer and travel luggage upstairs.

Ive been shopping here for several years and am always blown away by how helpful, courteous and knowledgable the staff is. Products are always high quality with fair retail prices. The membership is great. Was helped today by Phil upstairs and Gregg downstairs and was just blown away by how helpful and willing to answer any questions I had.

This is a relatively spacious REI for a mall location. Staff are friendly and helpful and the stock is good. Its a nice shop to wander around. There are good sales sometimes, and its one of the few outdoor clothing resources in the area, so its nice to have this here.

We went here to purchase some Merrill hiking boots for my wife. Sales person (Alfie) was very helpful and the boots are great but I have to say its a bit pricey. REI is a co-op and if you join ($20 life time membership) you get 10% back at the end of the year.

Katie and the entire staff at REI were very helpful and knowledgeable of the product they carry. The company is very passionate about ther local community, will certainly be returning for the garage sale!

Every time i go to this location, i leave feeling inspired and encouraged. Im a big girl. I struggle with self image and the fact that when you think hiker you think beach model.. the people who work here are SO uplifting and fun to work with. They dont judge. They dont discourage. They just help you find what works for YOU and dont try to make money off of you. I will never go any where else for this kind of stuff. Ive never seen a team of such KIND workers before. Whoever manages this location is doing it right.

REI has everything the outdoor enthusiast needs. My only complaint is that they dont always have what the less-than-hardcore outdoor lover wants. But, I guess thats not their thing. Staff is friendly and helpful.

This REI has great service, they take care of their customers and dont make you feel like a hassle. My wife and I had to return a tent that had problems when we unpacked it brand new, they replaced it and let us build another one in store to make sure it was problem free. Great store!

They allowed me to run in at the last minute just as they were closing to pick up my Christmas gift that was put on hold by an incredible helpful young lady who helped me by phone earlier in the day! Then I forgot my cell phone at the register, and the young man at the door literally found me in the parking lot to return it! REIs are know for their quality and fantastic customer service and this place is no different. They know how to treat their customers and help them with orders and explanations. You cannot go wrong with any of the REIs in the triangle area. All staff are extremely friendly, and patient. I was there one night until close, i couldnt make up my mind. None of the staff seem to mind that I was there and did not rush me at all. I could literally spend hours in the store.
