It was pretty busy with school bands getting back together but the guy who helped us was still an amazing help. He even asked which school we were from to get us the right books. Great rental prices and selection.

I love this store! Ted Brown has such great customer service. We have been renting a cello from them for about 2 years now and they have never disappointed us. When when my son broke his instrument, they replaced it immediately and gave him another one. They fix our instrument and take great care of us when there is a need.Every time I have gone to Ted Brown, I am received by friendly staff who are always so nice and willing to help me with my needs. When we have had emergencies weather it be fix, tune or replace our instrument, they are always ready to help. Thank you to Ted Brown and his friendly staff for making our son’s experience with music, a very pleasant one. I definitely would recommend this store to anyone.

We had only a rough idea what we wanted, and Jeremy was awesome and showing us options and helping uncover what we needed with questions and testing different instruments. We purchased our guitar and case in the end. It was a great experience and it was focused around helping us continue our journey of learning music.

They anything you could possibly want and everyone was friendly but the shop fee is questionable. Took my guitar in to have strap pegs and new strings and when I paid the bill, they charged me twice for the shop fee. $40. Didnt break the bank but it seemed rather shady.Food for thought when you take your instrument in for repair or alterations.

I go to the Puyallup location or Tacoma location usually, but because of Covid, they have been sending guitars out to Richland for luthier work. The dude who has been working on my guitars is named Bob Keefe (or OKeefe), and I wanted to just give him a shout out. Every time i have reached out to communicate to him, he has responded promptly and professionally, and he has worked with the requests that I have made while all-the-while clarifying everything to make sure things are going the way I would like. It has just been a really great experience overall and I cant sing his praises enough. I seem to have only had good experiences with Ted Brown so far and this has been no exception.

As the tri-cities does not have much selection when it comes to music stores, I try to give Ted Brown a break, but they have lost a customer. I came into the Richland Ted Brown in the market for an amp, cash in hand, ready to buy. I also had a bass guitar I purchased from them for $400 several years ago. I was “greeted” by Andy. I told Andy that I am a guitar player, not a bass player, so naturally, it did not get played very often and I simply wanted it gone. I brought the bass in to see if they would be willing to buy it back or consign it (I understand they are a business and need to make money...) I told them I had purchased it for $400, and it had barely left the case. Again, understanding that they needed to make money, I asked if we could do $100-200 or so, (that way they still end up making $200-300 off of the bass), and again, with understanding the bass is a “Frankenstein” bass, which appeared to be homemade from Fender parts. I did not expect to make money off of it or anything, I understood it was a bad purchase, but I simply wanted it gone. Andy took one look at the bass and promptly advised it would be a “hard no”. I questioned him as to why they wouldn’t be willing to sell something that they had already sold me again, and he stated it would be a “hard sell”. Understandable, however, the fact he did not even consider it for a second tells me that Ted Brown (and Andy) do not care about customer satisfaction. I asked him several other questions regarding amps and the bass, and even consignment options, which he refused to even consider. His attitude made it very apparent I was wasting his time. Ted Brown has always had a very “corporate” feel, but never have I been treated so rudely by one of their service “professionals”. I would like to restate, I entered the store, cash in hand, 100% set on purchasing an amp, but due to Andy’s horrible customer service, they have lost a customer. I recommend taking your business anywhere else.

I went to this store to purchase a conn selmer Helleberg tuba mouthpiece and the service was absolutely great. However I do have a major question. Has this music store ever had contrabass marching tubas in stock? That is something I am quite curious about. But aside from that this store is great and I would not recommend any other store.

Like all big businesses, Ted Brown is motivated by sales and not by customer service. I took my instrument in and was told they could fix a bent key by the time school concert took place, which was over three weeks away. I followed up after two weeks, which was the time I was given by a sales associate when I took the instrument in and hadnt heard anything. The sales associate informed me that they hadnt even touched the instrument yet and that there was another in front of it. I understand that they are busy at the first of the school year. There was no follow up, no appology, and I was told it would be another week and half before they could work on it - but wait! Lucky me! I was able to rent from them a rental to get us through the concert. So not only was the store unable to live up to its own standards and what they told me for a time frame when I gave them upfront information that I needed this by a certain date, but I get to also pay them for the rental because they couldnt perform as they promised. Customer service sucks. Follow up with the customer sucks. The staff is driven by only sales. I rather go out of town to someone who cares and would pay them twice as much. Thanks Stephanie and Ted Brown. I will let everyone know how you treat your customers. anybody going into business for Instrumental repairs would make a killing in this area!

Ted Brown Music in Yakima has some of the best customer service Ive ever experienced. Ive rented a violin from them for the past several years and have just purchased a new one. I live 50+ miles from the store, but the quality of the instruments and the customer service make it well worth the drive.

I have been a customer at the Richland store since they opened. In fact, l worked as a guitar sales specialist for four years in the late 90’s. I was also working at least 5 nights a week as a one man band in the local nightclubs. Consequently, I spent most of my TB paychecks on buying more musical equipment. Opportunities came up to buy a concert 8 piece Mapex Drum Kit, NAMM guitars, and many sound enhancing accessories. I have been very happy with the sales people and the products, and therefore, the entire Ted Brown music experience. My profound thanks to all who have worked for Ted Brown Music. I recommend this store chain to all who enjoy the thrill of playing live music for an income or just for the thrill of making music. Thanks, Terry Simmelink, Songpainter aka Cody Michael Show.

Ive been dealing with Ted Brown for about 20 years and I have always been pleased with service before - during and after the sale. Their keep up-to-date products that I have used over the years and the quality has always been up to par with the industry and prices are on par with the internet. I would much rather deal locally face-to-face than over the internet and dealing with shipping and such. It’s always better for me to be able to mock up the system I am interested and see how it performs before I purchase it. Many times I have been steered away from gear that might not have been good for the long run in my business and church settings.

I brought in a Trumpet I was looking to Sell but wanted to get it cleaned up first. So i took it to the Richland, Wa Location. I wanted to get my LA 6x Benge cleaned up. After I picked it up i saw that they stripped it to raw brass and it didnt looked cleaned at all. There are still spots all over. The mouthpieces I was told were going to be cleaned looked the same. So i went in the following day and Spoke to an Employee (Donovan). He said that the chemicals in the lacquer can sometimes take off the finish and that is exactly what happened. With no offers to fix the issue. I wrote a email to the store with my complaint. The following day I get a email back from the store manager, Todd Peery. Who says he spoke to Donovan. That Donovan told the store manager that he offered to re-chem the trumpet at no charge. Which is not true. Todd also offered to have his shop go over the horn again, and explain the issues with the trumpet, and if im still unhappy. That he MAY be willing to purchase the instrument at fair market value. First off, Your shop took a huge chunk of the value off my instrument. So if you want to talk about Fair then your no charge re-chem is a no go. Secondly, I no longer trust your shop to do anything with my instrument. So no thanks on damaging my trumpet further. No thanks on any of your explaining. I have sent two emails since the last from Todd. Which was 4 days ago. This isnt good business. You dont destroy someones 40 year old instrument and then TELL them they have either the option of having either more damage from poor work or selling it to you for a price you would like. I will be going to BBB if I hear nothing soon. Very unprofessional.

Between being sold an expensive guitar pedal they knew had problems and making it a hassle to return, the condescending tone in some of the guitar salesmen, and the constant trying to get me to buy the absolute most expensive gear for everything (probably hoping I am a beginner and I dont know any better), I just dont like to go here anymore. Id rather drive further out to get better service. All though, they did have a Gretsch Electromatic that played amazingly. Two stars for the Gretsch

Went in to get a wall hanger, and a cable for my electric guitar. I was greeted by the guy at the front desk who was very polite. I walked by the guitar counter and again was asked if I needed any help, but when I told him I needed a wall hanger and a cable his only response was over there. I asked if he could please at least point in the direction where they were he just looked at his buddy and pointed his finger. So after finding my stuff, I decided I would look at amps. I decided to try one but there was no cable in the room, so I started to walk to the same kid who basically refused to help me, and as I opened the door to leave the amp room I watched him yell look guys Im at Woodstock, as he threw a Jimi Hendrix Signature Stratocaster about four feet in the air while his buddies just laughed. The guitar didnt have tags, so I can only assume that it was a customers guitar, or was so new that it hadnt hit the shelf yet. What would have happened if he had dropped it? Very rude and unprofessional. I would never bring my guitars here for fear that it would not come back in one piece.UPDATEI have gone in a few times since this incident being that Music Machine closed down. I have to say that Ted brown employee has really cleaned up his act. Very helpful, kind and informative. I will continue to come here as long as this keeps happening

Have been a customer here for years and always will be. The staff always makes sure Im doing okay and that my current Korg Kronos X is doing okay since its painful three month wait for a repair in Tacoma. The wait was definetely not their problem and I understood that. It was sent to Sound West who I heard doesnt have the best reputation. They always answer my stupid questions that sometimes dont make sense but it is nice to chat with the staff that knows what you know or what you want to know. Thank you for the good service and products Ted Brown and I will keep shopping here until a Guitar Center opens up here in Tri-Cities which I doubt because Guitar Center is still much more expensive than Ted Brown.

The place overall is decent and has quality guitars in my opinion. However, they are salesman and try to get you to buy the most expensive everything. WOW! the guitar guy was a complete asshat. first implying that I am lying to him about a price match, and then telling me he would only consider my trade as long as it wasnt walmart crap. seeing as how he had no idea what i was willing to trade in, that comment seems a little crass. this is just another guitar center wannabe establishment that has somehow morphed into GCs autistic drooling little brother. all the guitar center negatives, zero positives. this is the final straw in a long long series of less-than interactions that i have experienced with this company, and their uninformed employees who feel a sense of self importance in their lack of basic product knowledge, customer service competence, and sales abilities. over-priced, underwhelming selection, and lack of common musical accessories lead me to believe that they need to either pay their employees in a way that makes them care about making a sale, or at least hire a guitar guy who realizes that he is joe blow guitar sales guy, and not a NAMM rep for ibanez.
