We had a great experience with Richmond Decorating Center. After a basement flood we had to replace half the carpet and match the remaining undamaged carpet. Lowe’s, where we bought the carpet two years ago, no longer carried the carpet. Susan Marie found the exact match. Most responsive customer service we have ever experienced.The owner Mark is a star! And the lowest price of 3 quotes. Definitely recommend!

Wendy was fantastic! She gave us great ideas and let us look without pressure for new blinds. She came and measured and followed up and they became available. Installation was perfect! The guys were fast, and funny!

A big thank you to Richmond Decorating and to specifically SusanMarie who helped us replace the linoleum in our master bath. She did a fantastic job in educating us about the luxury vinyl products that were now on the market versus tile that we originally were hoping to have. We chose the vinyl with grout to replace the linoleum and are so happy we did! Love the pattern choices we had as well as the grout colors! It’s made the world of difference in our master bath! Very timely and cost efficient as well...

Wendy and her team are wonderful from strat to finish!! Wendy helped me picking out all my flooring carpet and bathroom flooring. She is so easy to work with and very helpful with ideas! Ordering and scheduling instillation was also very easy with Wendy. The team that came and installed all of the flooring were so very nice. They did an amazing job and worked all day to get the job done. They were so polite and excellent with the installation. It all looks so beautiful!! I was very pleased with the assistance I received at Richmond Decorating Center from Susan Marie Shelton. She was very knowledgeable and willing to share her time and expertise. It is hard to find customer service that meets that provided by Susan Marie. I am slow to make decisions, but she didnt rush me nor seem at all impatient as I looked through the many options of window treatments. I would DEFINITELY recommend using Susan Marie and Richmond Decorating when in need of home decorating assistance!

What a treat is was working with Susan Marie! From the start of decorating our new Richmond home, shes been a valuable resource! First, her help in getting the Hunter Douglas blinds (and I had a lot of windows!) was an easy process. Once settled in, she worked with me to make wallpaper selections. She found the best paper for each bathroom...and the color to go with them. They look great! Next, she coordinated the cornices for our windows....style, fabric, and installation. They really enhance each room. Susan Marie knows her stuff and I rely on her recommendations for other decorating projects.

Horrible work I would not use them and when something was said that the floor felt like it had speed bumps in it still never fixed the problem and then some of the tile was popping up bc they dont know what they are doing I would not recommend them at all

We have redone virtually every room in our house and could not have done it without Richmond Decorating, and specifically Susan Marie Shelton. We have been particularly been pleased with her assistance on luxury vinyl. The entire process was easy and we love all of our results. Quality is never in question.

They did a wonderful job on installing premium vinyl flooring for our entire downstairs. It’s holds up great with dogs and on a cement floor. Just love it.

The owner (Mark) came recommended from some mutual family friends and has taken great care of my family twice now: once three years ago when we bought our house and needed some area rugs and once again now that were selling our house [Oct 18] and needed to replace some wall-to-wall carpet. My only regret is that were moving out of the state and cant use Richmond Decorating in CT! Mark is obviously very focused on giving great customer service, is responsive, and transparent through the process. We were on a budget and Mark never made us feel less important because our jobs may have been small. Great guy, great experience!

We have recently closed on an amazing home built by Finer Homes. Towards the end and once flooring was down, there was a little more interior construction left to do which caused some minor damages to the hardwood and linoleum. (this is typical) We were instructed to contact Jim @ Richmond Decorating (Hull Street Road) to schedule a repair and they completed this today. Even prior to the guys leaving, I felt I needed to call and tell Jim how incredibly courteous & respectful the repair men were of our concerns. They spent the first few minutes walking around and explained in detail the repair process. We could not be happier with the professionalism of the repair guys and inner office management. Its obvious they took pride in our homes end result and their workmanship. The initial installation of the carpet, hardwood and linoleum was outstanding. I want to also add that per policy, RDC needed to hear from Finer Homes and get the OK before they could schedule. There was a delay in getting the authorization from the Builder however, Jim scheduled our repair anyway ( keeping our best interest in mind). Hats of to a very customer oriented company and making us feel like we were first and that our concerns were their top priority

My husband and I were here this afternoon shopping for hardwood flooring. Not there more than 5 minutes due to the customer service. Went elsewhere and spent almost $12,000. Please treat everyone nicely, or at least pretend youre interested.

13 years ago I built my house in a New neighborhood- During the build, I had to choose my carpeting with RDC... Service was fine and the carpet was decent. My issue is that I got to take my shoes off and feel the different “padding” that goes under the carpet. I ended up thinking 🤔 Ill live in this home for decades and went with the thickest padding $$$. Long story short - I never received the more expensive padding.. This was clear once I moved in and obvious when I switched over to hardwood years later. These guys are crooks.

Ive had all types of flooring done for over 30 years by Richmond Decorating. We have had work done on our home, our rental properties as well as our river house. Excellent installation at a fair price every time. We can always count on Richmond Decorating. I would not use anyone else.

Mark and his crew came thru big on a time sensitive request. They did an excellent job and were very professional and courteous. I am super happy.

We had a new build and worked with Debbie for the kitchen and bath selections. There were multiple hiccups with our build, but the kitchens and baths were not one of them. We cant recommend Debbie highly enough. She is an expert at what she does, and her patience, knowledge and communicativeness were excellent. Wed definitely work with her again, and we have no reservations about recommending her!

We recently completed a very extensive kitchen remodel (completely changed the footprint of our kitchen) using RDC. We also changed several other items in a powder room, home office, and basement bar. The project could have been completely overwhelming, but Debbie worked very closely w us to assist at every step. She literally called at least once a day and was always on time... always. The finished project is amazing! Her floor plan was the key! Debbie has tremendous insight into the best use of space, lighting, logistics, etc. We’re very relieved there isn’t a single thing we would change about the project. Debbie made things very easy for us. It’s clear she loves what she does, cares deeply about her clients, and is very good at what she does.JB

I have been using Richmond Decorating for over 30 years. The staff is always helpful in selections made in all areas, cabinets,flooring and carpet. If there was a problem Richmond Decorating staff would make sure it was right. I would highly recommend them and continue to use them.

Purchased a new townhouse from Eagle Construction. Richmond Decorating installed the cabinetry. They did a horrible job. Had to replace multiple doors, but they do not follow up. Ive had blue tape on my door for 14 months now and they are refusing to solve their issues. Using a pen to cover up issues on cabinets are not satisfactory. I would recommend that you do not use them for any new construction or remodeling jobs.

Definitely not accommodating! I walked next door to my neighbor. Guy shows up and leaves faster than the ups man. Never calls i had to call and ask what happened. The guys and im guessing his manager become rude and tried to reschedule a week out. Went with THE FLOOR TRADER. Matched there price and much better customer service.

We had a fantastic experience with Richmond Decorators from the sales staff, to the measuring of the room to the installation. No hitches, no glitches, no problems.

Mixed bag with these guys, but overall, I would avoid since there are probably better options for service and finish products. Mike, who I believe is the owner, is a complete jagoff. Let me share. The sales lady, who was in charge of tile and flooring for our build, had no idea where any of example building materials were for our meeting (strike 1). So after all the hiccups, we ask to see the upgraded tile. She shows us a board where the small mosaic tiles are embedded among the larger tiles. She also said, if you look at the houses already built, they have the same design. So we paid for the upgrade. Come tile time, they did it without the mosaic and didnt stagger the tiles. So it literally looked like a square with beige tiles. Even the foreman was appalled with the work. After speaking with this robot, Mike, he basically says what do you want me do, its done. We had to go through major hoops to get this re-done. The floor and wall grout doesnt match, even though the walls look a little better with the tile redone. Unreal how he thought it was fine that we were lied to and we should just go away. Its a 500$k house, so sorry if the master bath looks like a dingo did the work. Take your business elsewhere, otherwise if you screw up, theyll mock you and tell you what do you want me to do?

We have used them for fixtures and carpeting around the house. They were able to get us good pricing on some window shades. We did have some minor communication problems, but everything worked out ok.

I personally am always skeptical that a smaller local business can be competitive with national box stores when it comes to pricing. Richmond Decorating Center was able to change my mind in terms of price, and blow me away (enough to actually write a review...) in terms of service and quality.Upon walking in to the showroom at the Glen Allen Location, I was pleasantly surprised by the selection and quality of both flooring options and window fashions. I was in the market for new drapes and considering upgrading to hardwood floors and the staff was both friendly and knowledgeable.The level of service and friendly neighborhood atmosphere made me feel at home and made me question why I would have ever considered shopping at a big box store! I am extremely pleased with my experience at Richmond Decorating Center because instead being sold I felt like I was talking to professionals who cared as much about my home improvement project as I did.The attitude and atmosphere made a dramatic difference and took much of the stress out of replacing my floors. I can honestly recommend this company as a starting point to anyone in the greater Richmond area who wants professional flooring advice without feeling like just another shopper.

HORRIBLE customer service. You cant get people to call you back. NO ONE follows up to make sure your problem is addressed. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

There is a total lack of customer service. They have totally dropped the ball with my remodeling. Im now more than 2 wks behind and all I get is excuses and no solutions.
