On the weekends I like to find little local places to try out. This weekend I was in Richmond and found this little coffee shop hidden in a little shopping center. I have been on Hwy 90 so many times and I never noticed this place. When you first welcome it has a very relaxing feel to it. The staff was very warm and friendly. They have a place in the front and back for outdoor seating. Plus there is also a nice little playground in the back too for the kiddos. My friend had the coffee, but I really enjoyed their hot chocolate.
Just an absolute beautiful little coffee shop with a wonderful atmosphere, two great out door seating areas and amazingly kid friendly. Both baristas were super nice and helpful and even though I didnt have any food, it smelled and looked awesome. And thats to speak nothing of the coffee. My ice mocha wasnt too sweet, really let the espresso shine in it. If youre ever in the area, or already live close by, make this a go to stop. Im glad I didnt get a starbucks instead.
Tis the season for Pumpkin Spice. Right? YES! Take a sip, then another sip, ok youre on your 6th sip. Great latte, full tasting perfect sweet to pumpkin cinnamon flavor. Chef kiss. Add you a warmed lemon poppy seed muffin and then Grinch smile because its flavor combination is despicably MARVELOUS!Great mixed crowd of do-gooders doing stuff. Phenomenal staff. Mellow atmosphere. Little bit of Stevie Wonder little bit of Billie Eilish. Enjoy.
This place is awesome! The staff is friendly, the store is clean, and the food/drinks are superb. I especially love how the baristas make an effort to get to know you and remember the regulars. I will definitely keep coming back.
Staff is very courteous and professional.Best coffee in a calm relaxed environment. Breakfast panini is very good too.
Its a very cute place with good coffee. I tried their mint tea with honey and loved it. Next day I tried their Cappuccino. It was good as well but not as strong as I usually like my coffee. Ill be back to try a few more things on their menu.
Blockhouse Coffee really is the best!! I choose them over Starbucks or Dunkin any day of the week! I can taste a difference in the quality of the coffee. The atmosphere is intimate and quiet. Ive had almost every food item on their menu and, even as a clean eater, Im not opposed to any of their food items. Their pastries are fresh and not full of a ton of refined sugar. This quaint restaurant is even kid friendly with their large chalk board to color on and play area in the back courtyard.
Coffee is for sure 5 stars but the friendliness of the staff is less than appealing. The young lady who made our 5 lattes was new but AMAZING! She was a doll, sweet and made our drinks perfectly but there was a woman sitting eating at the bar who she was asking questions to. That lady wasnt friendly whatsoever. I was engaging them both in conversation while our lattes were being prepared and she was dry and cold. Im from out of town so maybe thats how people are in this area but I doubt it. We went next door to a boutique and the owner was sweet to so it must just be this ladys stank face. I really hope she wasnt the owner. I dont know if Id come back here for casual chit chat but the coffee is worth it! Ill for sure be coming back when Im back in town. Theres a cute little sitting area outside, too!
Really friendly staff and wonderful coffee! Loved the shaded seating area in the back. Will definitely be coming again :)
This was my first time here and I absolutely loved it. I will definitely be back. Ice brew coffee was strong but it was good.
Everything we ordered was delish. My fave was the avocado toast. Chai latte was yummy. Nice outdoor seating which was lovely since it wasnt too hot. Staff was friendly and fast service.
Great independent coffee shop that remains a perfect fit for the downtown Richmond area. Great Coffee and breakfast options - including customizing my egg and bacon taco when I mentioned needing it to be carb free. Went out of their way to assure a great breakfast.Good coffee, gracious staff, and an independent small business alternative to the corporate stuff.
Blockhouse Coffee & Kitchen is a great place to just go and chill ! Their coffee is of fine quality and they rotate the brands of coffee roasters. This way, you may try different types of aromas and flavors. But wait... What about desserts? They, too, are marvelous with the added bonus of being homemade. Perfect to enjoy with your coffee. Scones, crossaints, brownies, muffins, and cookies, they have it all! Buy a drink and treat yourself to a dessert, and decide if you want sit inside, or go out to the backyard:)
My favorite coffee shop in Rosenberg/Richmond area. Service is always on point. Their avocado toast is delicious
Excellent coffee! Lavender flavored latte is my go-to order. However, their blended coffees are top notch.
Good coffee with a relaxed, local atmosphere. I got the tacos as well. They were alright, but you dont really go to this place for food.
Nice atmosphere, really good coffee!I had a Cortado and it was the best I have had in a long time. Temperature, flavor! It was really good. Definitely recommend this place if you want to have a good coffee.
I cut through Richmond on my way back toHouston from Corpus because of the 59 construction. Man, Im glad I did. I was driving through these picturesque streets and drovepast Blockhouse and immediately circled back. The food menu looks delicious but the cold brew is what I came here for: strong and flavorful. The patio is a nice touch. And behind it is a neighborhood you definitely should stroll around with your coffee.
Just got a simple cold brew which was great. Staff was friendly and WiFi was good.
Cute. Lots of sitting space outside. Small safe playground area for littles 1 to 3 y.o.The food is simple but delicious. If you are in a rush order ahead.Outside yoga Saturdays. Check their instagram for events. Story time outside for kids too.
This place is absolutely adorable! The food was delicious and so was the coffee. Being a big coffee chain addict lol. I was pleasantly surprised and definitely will be returning.
Coffee was good. Really need to get larger to go cups. Only to go cups seem to be about 10-12 oz. Nice place to go and sit out back.
Very nice quaint neighborhood coffee shop
Great iced dirty chai and ideal outdoor area for small kids to play while enjoying your drink.
Of course their coffee is delicious and delightful but lets talk about their cookies. . . Hands down - the best chocolate chip cookie Ive ever had. The green snickerdoodle is also great. This was my first visit and I had the BLTA - 5/5 WOULD RECOMMEND. My 15 y/o had the adult grilled cheese and it was gobbled down before I was even able to ask for a bite. My 4 y/o had the kids grilled cheese and I was able to taste it and wow - 👏 😋 😍 it was amazing. I added the side salad with my sandwich and it was great. Simple and fresh and the house vinaigrette was so tasty. I added an iced turmeric ginger tea as well and really really enjoyed it.Great place to eat and there is a park in the back with tables so it is an equally great place to take the kids to get rid of some energy.10/10 would recommend
I tried this coffee house a week ago and I’ve been back 3 times already! I am new to this town and wanted to find a charming coffee house near town to enjoy and relax (Starbucks just wasn’t an option at this point, to commercialize for me) i love to support small business so I googled away. I came across BlockHouse ! The coffee and latte are delicious here. The coffee isn’t bitter or bloating and neither is the espresso. The beautiful detail they put into the latte art is unique, I’ve only tried the coffee beverages and avocado toast, which was also great btw. My niece tried the vanilla bean frappe and agreed it was also delicious. The environment is warm and inviting and the customer service is always friendly and helpful ! There is a small library to choose books from to read and free wifi for studying. The cute outdoor patio is a nice addition to this already awesome place ! I am a Houston native who lived near the heights area where there are tons of coffee shops and none made me feel more at home with great coffee than Blockhouse. The prices are reasonable, They do close at 3pm and have an awesome point/reward system so I suggest you sign up! Apple/google pay is also accepted.
The coffee and food here is pretty good. We have gone three times and it has been good each visit.
Love this place. Been coming here for the last 5 years. Wish I could stop by more often.
I feel cheated on for paying $6 to get a really small breakfast taco. They also forgot to give me a buzzer and our drinks are taking way too long that the people who ordered after us got their drinks first... I was looking forward to try this place, but Im a bit disappointed now..
Great place for a coffee lover just like me. I enjoyed my coffee! Lovely!
Really cool coffee spot. They take making coffee to an art form.
Very well kept interior. Clean but a bit tight approach from the street due to other businesses on the same strip. No photos.
Very clean, descent speed on making coffee, nice friendly waiters, and one guy that stood out, super nice, and great attitude. I believe his name was Jon or josh.
Blockhouse is cozy, conveniently located and everything I’ve tried was delicious! Give them a shot if in the area.
Love to see a place where they take their time on making their coffee. Love the minimalism inside and out. A great place to drink chai, and coffee. Kid friendly as well. Well managed and super clean. I order a dirty chai, probably the best chai Ive had in a long time. The place feels like home instantly. They have a selection of snacks, sweets and other food that looks amazing. If youre in the area this definitely a place to stop by and enjoy real downtown historic Richmond. The shopping center also has other neat places to visit.
Great coffee and friendly staff!
Kind and friendly service. Good coffee and welcoming clean environment. Looking forward to going back.
Delicious coffee, friendly staff and really cool atmosphere. Love taking the kids to play in the back.
The Cold Brew was excellent!
Awesome coffee and atmosphere!
Great place for a good cup of coffee
Ive been here 3x, so I feel like I can review this place accurately.Overall, I think it is overpriced/the staff is hit or miss with friendliness.$7 for a small drip and espresso? Ill pass.Sometimes the barista is nice and friendly, other days you get the ones that are cold/impersonal/annoyed.The location is its redeeming quality, because it does have outdoor seating near the front and back. Its very cute inside. The baked goods have been pretty good, Ive gotten a croissant and cookie. Will I be back?Eh. Probably not, unless absolutely necessary. The staffs friendliness is very important to me. I can look past price, but not that.
Beautiful atmosphere. Reasonable prices. Good espresso. Perfect
Coffee ✅Customer service ✅Food ✅100% Recommended
I was a church and a small group at our church meets at this coffee shop weekly. I saw that the coffee shop is kids friendly so I knew I had to visit. I was blessed to meet the owner and she was lovely. The coffee shop is so peaceful and she supports local vendors. The coffee was gourmet I’m vegan so I loved she offered oat milk and almond milk.
The staff knows what theyre doing. Enjoyed my cold brew and the grilled cheese with bacon and turkey.
Cute little coffee hub with great food and even better coffee. The aesthetic here is really simple, modern, and minimalist. Has a very zen-like vibe. Staff was nice, but parking was difficult due to the undersized, overcrowded parking lot. Still, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone I liked and will be back for more coffee real soon.
Im new to the area and was wanting a cute local coffee place. I found it in Blockhouse and I absolutely love it! The coffee is amazing, and the people that work here are so friendly and inviting. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a local coffee shop.
Blockhouse Coffee and Kitchen always has great coffee. Ive never tried any food there. My mom loves the pickles they sell. My son loves the toys.
Consistently the best coffee in Fort Bend. Espresso is always dialed in. Unpretentious. Kind. Kid friendly.
Thinking it was located in Richmond, one would assume that if a country looking bar but once you set your foot inside and open the door. You will automatically smell the great smell of coffee hit your nose. This place is family friendly, staff is great and lots of space where you can host an important meeting or just get a rocking joe.
Excellent coffee and tasty treats. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Calm and family friendly atmosphere. The outside play area and seating is gorgeous. I always stop by when Im in the area.
Good coffee, tasty brunch good. interesting area to take a stroll at on a slow weekend morning. The play area for kids is made of old wood, makes me nervous for splinters. Nice to have anyway.
It was ok, but alot of money for a small cup of coffee
Great place for coffee or breakfast tacos. Do not get chilled chicken sandwich. It is gross. They do not have microwave just oven so chicken is baked and then chilled and served as cold sandwich.Nice outside atmosphere.
Try the cappuccino and the turmeric ginger tea. Amazing
Its a great study area or a place to bring children. The lighting is nice and bright so I dont have to worry about my eyes straining. Their vanilla latte is the best Ive had in a long time! I just wished they had a lunch menu to select from or a few more pastry selections. But their coffee is great!
EXCEPTIONAL! Treat yourself to delicious & wholesome eats with a touch of comfort food! Milk & cookies! Grilled cheese!! BLTA salad sent direct from Jesus! If I could Id rent a table here and never leave! 🙌😉🙌
I like the idea of this place with all the local small businesses represented and what not, but its very small. Every time I come there is only 1 or 2 random seats available and so its hard to come here with friends to enjoy a coffee. Most people are working or reading a book which I dont mind, I do that myself at coffee shops. There just needs to be more room. Im really hoping they open up their back outdoor area soon to create more seating areas.
Espresso tasted like acid.
Great staff, great location!
Awesome place
Since my first visit the day they opened, Blockhouse has proven to be all I had hoped: source for all things local. Besides being a coffee shop where locally roasted coffee (Fort Bend Roasters) is served, BHCK serves as a hub or network for local craftsman. Carpenters created many of their unique furniture pieces, artists from Fort Bend helped decorate the walls with their art, and other wares sold in the shop are sourced from local makers. The ship does their best to connect their clients to other local artisans. the atmosphere is fantastic and, since I occasionally take my 1 year old with me, the small kids play area is fantastic! Go visit this place and you will be glad you did!
Great location. Customer service was excellent!
Super cozy coffee place. Theres a lot of space out back you can chill with your dogs if you wanted to, too. Baristas are really friendly and knowledgeable about their products. Food was decent. Ordered the avacado toast and tacos. I wouldve preferred if you could choose the type of toast instead of just white toast, but it was still tasty.
Very nice restaurant. It is tucked in the corner, but you dont want to miss it. The food was really good. Seems like the only place to get breakfast.
Love the atmosphere of Blockhouse! Very bright and welcoming. Definitely makes the most of a small space with lots of seating! Great latte and the staff is very hospitable and friendly-lots of smiling faces 😀
Great atmosphere and great service, how can forget amazing coffee. Cant wait to go back.
So many pluses about this place - great coffee, so many local and housemade items on the menu, awesome outdoor “fort” for the kids to play, and a breakfast and lunch menu. I had the veggie club and friends had the breakfast tacos. Everyone was very pleased. Definitely where you need to get coffee in the area!
Love the atmosphere. Nice place to coffee wirh friends. Very laid back and eclectic vibe. Definitely will return. Staff was friendly and helpful with selections. Locally baked goods, honey and pastries were yummy.
Obsessed, stop by every time I visit my parents.
Awesome coffee
This is such a great coffee shop! I love the cozy and modern feel! Not to mention the people! Theyre so nice and personable! Their coffee is great as well! The pastries are made there and are soooo good! I HIGHLY Recommend this place!!
Really cool coffee shop which is unexpected in the heart of downtown old Richmond. the staff is very friendly and the coffee is top notch. One time they forgot to bring out my coffee and the owner was very apologetic. The next time I came in she remembered me and was still apologetic so I really give it to this business for caring about customers and the community that supports them.
This is far and away the best coffee Fort Bend has ever seen. The shop has pitch-perfect modern design inside, incredibly friendly staff, and fresh-baked pastries. Its a great place to study, meet friends, and even bring the kids to play in the super cool Kids Corner.
Really cool place. Great local vibe and outdoor space is awesome for my kids.
Hands down my favorite place to grab a cup of coffee... The Peanut butter flavor is AMAZING!! A the vibe is perfect to get some work down!
I love this place! They make their own almond milk, it’s delicious!! Their backyard patio is dog friendly which is awesome!! I highly recommend them to everyone!BEST VEGAN SNICKERDOODLE COOKIE!!! ❤️
Great coffee house. Nice atmosphere, great service, the coffee and food was really nice as well. Happy to have this place in Richmond. Will become a regular spot.
