If you use a capital one card, the drinks are half off. There are two ATMs inside, an elevator to go to the second floor, and quite a few different meeting/work rooms. Those rooms are temporarily closed during the pandemic, but there are still various other tables spread out throughout both the first and second floor where you can study or get some work done. My kids love the huge cake pops here. Friendly staff. Everything looks clean and modern.
Went in hoping to convert some Euros to USD. They couldnt help BUT (unlike Wells Fargo) they did call around to other banks to ask if I could be helped there. Very friendly, made me feel like I was a valued customer. Thank you, Tommy and Kevin!
It is a unique experience. It is just a bank feels you lucky and proud. I have been using capital one venture for a while and so far everything was perfect. Customer service is always responsive and nice. This cafe/bank concept is great idea. We did our deposit using atm and just drunk our coffees. I loved the design of the place. Especially, the meeting rooms bar top where you sit just near the window on the second floor. Prices are also reasonable. I loved this place and everything with capital one service!
I really enjoyed my visit here! Its a really beautiful cafe representing Capital One and the RVA area! Its really beautiful and modern. The staff are friendly and very COVID considerate. Its also a great place to either have a quiet afternoon or do some remote working. Will definitely be back in the future.
Edit: Finally got to try the coffee here came in yesterday they wouldnt take a $50 so couldnt get the nitro cold brew that is supposed to be amazing. Came in today no nitro cold brew but got the drip and its pretty decent hoping to edit this again in the future when they have it!
The coffee is unbelievable and everyone is super nice. They use purified water for all their coffee beverages (and I think anything they serve) and this makes a cup you can tell the difference in. Most places use “filtered” water which basically makes it smell better but the Reverse Osmosis system makes about 1000 gallons per day of water that has all the impurities of the James River taken out. I love the dedication to the highest quality product as well as protection of our health.
They have happy hour on Saturdays and Mondays for card holders and all drinks are free! They constantly give out samples and free things. We love it! Drinks are delicious and the bank ambassadors are incredibly friendly. Only suggestion would be for the cashiers to be a little more welcoming and friendly!
This is the second time trying to set up checking and a savings account. They process requires confirming deposits to your bank only this is not obvious when you set the accounts up. My stop today was to get the accounts completed with the transfer deposits. All they could do was send me to my other bankThis is ridiculous, inconvenient and frustrating. If it wasnt for the credit card rewards, I would find another bank
Kind of weird, if you stay too long they try to get you to sign up for stuff
I work from home and this is a great place to come and get work done - Love it that they are pet friendly!! What a great place. I would be willing to pay for the space as I like it so much -- Awesome that you can get 50% off your drinks with a capital one card.
Best customer service anywhere, great relaxing environment.
Despite numerous emails to Capital One and Peet’s, after 1am, all lights turned OFF at the 24hr atm. No regard for my personal or financial safety expecting me to use atm in complete darkness. Shameful. **update 11/15/20****so the foyer including ATM area is now brightly lit 24/7, however, not due to my numerous complaints, requests, pleas, or reviews. And not one reply from CAPITAL ONE apologizing or acknowledging that I even contacted them with a problem. The entire cafe was badly vandalized during the month of October overnight. THIS IS WHY, regardless, it’s better now. But Just give them the money don’t expect to much interest in any issues you may have.
I live in North Carolina, we don’t have Capital One Cafes there, it was my first visit to the bank/cafe. It feels like home, everyone was so nice, they helped me with ATM and brewed a very tasty coffee. Thank you guys and please come to NC.
This is a great resource for the people of the fan and Carytown. It’s a beautiful building, great people, and a good place to go and get things done. Beyond that the employees of Capital One are friendly and they are only there to answer financial questions not to sell anything. It can be a refreshing change versus some of the lower quality local coffee shops.
Amazing space for meetings and work. Discount for capital one cards. Group meetings. Peetes coffee
Very friendly and positive energy from the second I walked into the cafe. Yes it might be a bank, but the positive attributes Capital One brings to the community are indescribable. Looking forward to watching the cafe and the community grow together!
Loving the cold brew from Peets. Using a capital one card to pay gets you 50% so thats awesome. Also nice to have a bank thats not wells Fargo in the area
I love it when the automated teller is working. Ive made the trip there on a few occasions and was disappointed to not be able to make payment.
Great place to work and love the coffee. They offer nice gluten free options as well.
The Cap One Reps were really helpful. They werent able to assist with my transaction but they provided all the information I needed.
Gluten free options are the best. special flavors and offers plus the price are reasonable the place is a little cute and nice.
Got a pretty good cold brew here and i usually dont drink cold brews. I still dont fully understand the concept of the store.. Is it a coffee house? Or business banking contemplate a potential start up kinda establishment?? It is a little out of place in the wonderful eclectic carytown area and probably better suited for the downtown crowd. The discounts on coffee if you use your capital one card are cool.. But using a credit card for a coffee... Idk.
Jeff Adams clearly does not work for Capital One. This is a great addition to Carytown, especially for Capital One card holders who get half off their beverages. Capital One has provided jobs for thousands of Richmonders and is the biggest employer in Richmond. I’m all about eating local, but they’ve earned their cafe.
Ambassador was very rude: coffee is okay / it is a convenient spot but the ambassador treating me like a sub-human definitely makes me never want to return -- I may just switch to a different bank after that experience.
Capital One Cafe is based on a good premise, but the execution has painfully wide holes in it.As someone who spent over 15 years in the banking industry and also graduated from the Virginia Bankers Assc. School of Bank Management, and also as someone who is a Cap1 client, I feel the need to weigh in here. The premise of Capital One Cafe is a solid one. For years, data has suggested that, while people want their bank to have a branch they can go to when problems arise, fewer and fewer people actually enter bank branches. This poses a problem for banks as they try to justify their brick & mortar retail. This has pushed several banks to think of new and innovative ways to engage potential customers. The Capital One Cafe exemplifies this by offering fancy coffee, meeting space, and remote work possibilities. It makes sense, and it is certainly forward thinking from an industry perspective. However, there are some serious problems with the execution here. To the extent that the area has a preponderance of great coffee shops, and knowing the business that Capital One is in, its safe to assume that they are ultimately in the banking and finance business, not the coffee business. Therefore they deserve to be judged based on this, not as a coffee shop.As a supplier of financial services, I would expect Capital One to meet my basic needs. At every turn, Capital One has failed:1) As a small business owner, I approached Capital One about opening a small business checking account because they are closest to me. This location resides within a mile long stretch of small retailers and yet CANNOT OPEN SMALL BUSINESS CHECKING ACCOUNTS. This alone is astounding.2) The people who work here are not empowered to help you any more than you can help yourself. This betrays a fundamental use and expectation. To the extent that I should be able to go here and get help solving my problems, it is *not* okay that the employees here just call customer service. If thats all they can do, why do I need them? I could do this from home.3) Okay, so if they cant service the market they are in and cant be empowered to solve problems, maybe they can help with their services fail to work? Recently I came in to deposit a check into the ATM. After many attempts, it was clear that their machine would not read my check.Normally, I would expect an institution to have some way to accommodate this. Maybe be able to scan is manually or accept the check and give me a receipt. But no, not at Cap1 Cafe. They gave me a sticky note with an address and told me to mail my check to somewhere in Minnesota. Why couldnt THEY mail my check to somewhere in Minnesota?Im going to conclude this review with pros and cons. The pros were enough to warrant one additional star, but generally speaking, Cap1 Cafe fails at its central task of being a resource for its clients.Pros: friendly staff, pretty space, nice conference rooms if youre a nonprofit, acceptable coffeeCons: Not empowered to service customers, flaky ATMs, cannot open small business checking accounts(Also, there are better, locally owned, coffee shops in the area with folks who will value your business more.)
Excellent service I will come back again and again.
Nice coffee and cool place to study and do work outside of the house. The baristas are always nice. I would usually come in twice a week until a recent bad and unprofessional encounter I had with one of the ambassadors at the shop. They have rooms upstairs that have signs that say Ask an ambassador to reserve. I took that as I can book this space to guarantee the room for myself and a part not that I am required to before entering or even being allowed in the room. As stated before, I have been to this cafe for months (twice a week) and have sat in the room with no issues before.Last week I was in the room as usual with my significant other when one of the ambassadors opens the door and says Did you reserve this room? I state that we did not (although willing to move if someone else did).In a very rude and blunt manner the young man says You guys need to get out. I proceed to ask how to reserve a room. You need to book it ahead of time, he says in an agitated manner and leaves the room.I follow up with him downstair for further questions on reserving a room and he then tells me it is only for students and non-profits (still rude). As a customer of Peets, a banker at Capital One and a human being I feel like this kind of treatment and customer service is very off-putting and doesnt encourage the kind of environment Capital One is looking to breed. This was a very disappointing experience and I will not be coming back to this location due to this.If the rooms are ONLY for reserve and for specific parties, it should state that and if compliance is not being met, then the ambassadors should come with great customer service and seek to understand why and guide the customer to the correct path of compliance...not rudely kick them out and leave.
Great seating and affordable drinks. The perfect place to get things done.
Cool place! Will definitely go back.
I would love to say I feel at home here, but after spending several days being reprimanded for using the free space to study, I am sorry to say this in not a welcoming environment.
So let me get this straight… Capital One, a bank founded in Richmond, one of Richmond top 3 largest employers, puts a café/work space/branch in Carytown and people are up in arms on here about Corporate Greed? I understand Carytown is a more hip area with no a lot of chain restaurants but come on... The last two times I came here I was surprised with a free $4 Coffee for happy hour .. I am happy with Capital Ones credit cards/bank, I love the fact that they spent money to have a huge workspace for the community, complete with meeting rooms just for non-profits and students. Sure, if you dont want Peets coffee go to a local shop but please.. this location is a service to the City of Richmond by a company that cares about the community... This is model example of how buisness should be.
This is not a bank but just a place where there is a capital one atm.. That accepts deposits... This bank is a complete joke.... They dont even provide card less access to the atm... With qr codes
Great environment for a coffee shop.
Get out of Carytown. Leave local business alone. The world does not need a credit card company coffee shop.
I love the Capital One Cafes. However, the phone number listed on Google for the Cary st location seems to be inactive.
They send non stop trash.
Lovely cafe to relax.
No. A corporate nonsense coffee bank that doesnt care about coffee or Richmond. Do yourself and Richmond a favor and support locals Sugar & Twine across the street or 10 Italian Cafe up the street.
Delicious & fresh cafe.
You get what you pay for.
