We were so excited to go this highly recommended place. The visual appeal is definitely “cool”, but the $53 spent on 3 bland paninis, $6 for a cup of fruit/yogurt, and a weak chai tea was definitely let down! The woman who handed my son our food didn’t respond to his “thank you”. Less than impressed. 1 star for the cool paintings on the wall.
Underwhelming. Don’t be fooled by the cosy decor. Took a while to be “allowed” to order. Food was fast - not surprising since the tuna sandwich was basically a slab of tuna between two pieces of supermarket sliced bread. Ordered juice with the sandwich that still wasn’t ready by the time I finished the sandwich. Asked for a refund for the no-show juice.
The customer service was pretty good and the atmosphere was very cute. I had the yogurt parfait and paid 6 dollars for a very tiny amount of yogurt and granola. I also wasnt aware the fruit would be honeydew and cantaloupe, which unfortunately are the two fruits I dont eat. I also ordered a breve latte which ended up tasted burnt. I think they over extracted the shots of espresso which gave it a very bitter and burnt taste. I spent almost $13 dollars and really didnt feel like I got my moneys worth
Coffee beans are good. Staff were ok but they were short with me and had a dry attitude. It was my first time there but I felt I cant ask questions about my drink or tell them how I want it.
Great venue and location. so so beverages and pricing. Have to breakeven some how, I guess
The Urban Farmhouse is one of the only place that you get Va Smithfield salt-cured ham. It is the dream of a pr/marketeer. A woman owned business.....,but lets focus on the staff. Mitch makes a truly great bone dry cappuccino, Kay, who is super duper shy will surprise all of your expectations, and they have talented friends 😊. I am happy to recommend them, but I warn you a Farmhouse Cappuccino has more than a commercial shot.
The manager, Angela was extremely rude! I waited half an hour for a mediocre cup of coffee and I went to remind them and she told me we wouldn’t be in this predicament if I knew how to follow instructions. I was so taken aback. I would not recommend this place at all.
I don’t usually leave reviews but I’m so tired of overpriced cafes. Ended up paying $15 after tip for a dry tasteless tuna salad sandwich… literally so dry I could barely swallow it. The scone was near tasteless as well… coffee is fine
Esthetically, its a great vibe. I think the cashiers are a but over whelmed sometimes but certainly nice enough. Permitted our 2 small dogs to dine inside which was VERY accommodating. A 5 star rating would have had them offer a water bowl to the pups.
Great experience! Good coffee. Very friendly ladies behind the counter. Avocado toast was excellent and came with fresh fruit. Nutter butter protein shake hit the spot for my husband. Definitely worth stopping in.
I live close and come by once or twice a week. Even if they are short staffed the staff is very nice and everything is fairly priced considering the location. People who complain about waiting shouldn’t go out. There’s a national restaurant employment shortage .. these guys/girls do great!
Overpriced and sloppy! Sandwiches definitely not living up to what the meny promises. The drinks weren ready until we had finished eating. Non serviceminded staff who couldnt care less.
First time in Richmond and multiple people recommended. Didnt disappoint. My friend had the Tuna Curry with Gluten Free bread (she said the bread was amazing and thats hard to find with Gluten Free options) and this amazing hemp drink. I got a mimosa (it had fresh OJ it was the bomb) as well as a turkey and sesame sandwich. It was very good. The staff was also nothing short of amazing. They answered all of our questions and they even gave me advice of locations and neighborhoods since Im moving to Richmond. Such a friendly, sweet group. Thank you guys!
$11.50 for a sandwich with less than a can of $1 tuna. Very disappointed in my $41 lunch. I took it up to the counter and shared my disappointment and was met with a blasé OK. No Manager came to my table, no apology for the sandwich. Enjoy the last $ you will get from me and hopefully others who read this.
This place is really good, I feel like with a tad more effort it could be great.
I walked in and stood directly in front of one of the workers at the register for 3 to 4 minutes and had nobody say a single thing to me. The girl behind the register couldn’t keep her mask over her nose and kept pulling it down to talk to the other worker behind the counter making drinks about their weekend plans.I would’ve been fine with just a simple, “We’ll be right with you” but once the other guy behind the counter was done making drinks he stood beside the girl and still failed to even acknowledge me until I finally turned around to leave.I’ve been here before and had a good experience earlier in the pandemic but definitely WON’T be returning if the workers won’t even keep their masks on to prepare food and drinks for customers.Believe the negative reviews, it seems this place has been consistent in providing mediocre service.
The AB&J kids meal is an incredible option for little ones. I love their emphasis on healthy food. The downtown location is also very conveniently for those staying nearby without a car.
This place was great. The floor to ceiling doors that line the front of the building were open and so the atmosphere was great, this is probably about the time of year that the temperature is just right to have a nice breeze but still be warm. I got one of the Egg Scramblers and enjoyed it and feel like it is a great value. I appreciate that they have options for recycling, composting, and trash - I just wish more people actually put in the extra effort to efficiently categorize their items. I will be coming back.
Arrived about 830 am on a Sunday and had to wait a quick 2 min in line then received an excellent iced carmel mocha via a couple of hardworking friendly staff who always double checked every order (that I saw) with the customers before making them. Will be returning to try their breakfast menu soon! :) Note: they have Wi-Fi, delicious looking made to order breakfast and lunch stuffs plus made to order juice, a variety of kids drinks and of course vegan and vegetarian food as well.
Took a long time to get some attention. Very lousy and no respect for customers
Located in old town Richmond this cafe and coffee shop provides an open and bright atmosphere that includes a lot of local business people, people on laptops working and a general flow of people at all ages. Came in with a group of 4 people and had coffee, tea and food. I got the avocado toast which was awesome and my co-worker got a panini sandwich which they also liked very much. While there large open door windows were opened and made for a great spring day. Chai tea was great and so was the coffee although one person had blackberry soda which they also enjoyed. Nice place to relax, eat and get some work done. I will be back and had a great experience. Recommend this as a nice place to visit when in downtown Richmond Virginia.
Food food, nice staff. Amazing architecture... to a Chicagoan..Next time I go in will load up on all the tempting baked goods.
Cute place and the staff was so awesome being patient with our kids so they could practice ordering themselves.
Dont bother coming here for the food. The atmosphere is great but thats all they have going for them. However, if you like being ignored at the register by a worker then this is your place! Its really my fault though, sometimes my invisibility powers kick in by accident and people cant see me when Im standing right in front of them. So its understandable why the barista would try and take the order of the person next to me in line 😊
Food and coffee were great. Great location.
A coworker recommended Urban Farmhouse and so a small group of us decided to try it out. I was kind of weary to try this place at first, thinking it would be too organic healthy for me to find something Id like. I was wrong and the food was delicious!!! Lots of local wine and beer to purchase along the walls. Nice atmosphere in a pretty location. I will definitely return again for lunch next time Im working in Richmond.
They have made it very clear that they do not want Black Americans to eat at their cafe. If you are Black and you find yourself in this place, please be careful and leave. To everyone else, please consider doing business someplace else.
Breakfast on the GOOOO. Not the friendliest morning crew. 18$ for bfast sando (missing the cheese) and 2 bagels. Close to 95s and cute IG worthy pics.
Waited half hour for two salads, when they were ready we were told we had 7 minutes to eat and leave by closing time. We even got a two minute warning for good measure. Food was very marginal and expensive for what was served. Disappointed in RVA.
Good, healthy food. Great coffee.
Ordered on Grub Hub. Fruit bowl was only apples and pears, a little disappointing. Chicken salad on the sandwich was meagre, 1/4 high and in the middle only. There seemed to be no celery in it. Lox and Cream Cheese with Dill came with no dill, but plenty of black salt sprinkled all over the lox and cream cheese. It was like a salt bomb. Salty fish + Salty capers + more Salt?Campagne bread is wonderful! Milkshake was great. Wrong soda delivered.
Closest place to walk from our hotel. Not much variety for our taste.. Healthy food. Had a grilled scrambled egg and cheese sandwich with coffee. They garnished with apple and pear slices. Very clean environment.
Thanks for filling our big order. Great customer service. Excellent food.
I ordered a juice since the chalkboard said “$7” for a juice. She charged me $8.10 and tried telling me the price difference was tax. The other woman who works here came over. I thought she would make it right but instead told me the board was “outdated” and incorrect. Well update your board then because that’s false advertising and makes for an unhappy customer who is told “oh well” ....
The food as well as the service was terrible. I wouldn’t recommend going out to eat here
Good coffee, and very nice staff. Even sold me a pint of half and half for our hotel when I couldnt find any stores open.
Overpriced, not worth it. Owners like to let their employees checks bounce…I’ll get some not burnt coffee and $30 piece of lettuce elsewhere thanks.
We were a group of 4 and ordered four sandwiches. We came in at a busy time so we expected to wait a little longer for our food. We were told that it would be a 30 minute wait, it ended up being an hour and ten minutes....for 2 grilled cheese and 2 egg and cheese sandwiches........Just go to Panera or dunkin donuts and youll be served at a reasonable time and wont have to pay them for simple sandwiches that take 1.5 hrs to make. If you value your time, this is NOT the place for you.Coffee was good and came out promptly.
Very expensive for simple food. Our order for 2 people took almost 45 minutes to complete. Then food was cold when it was ready. However the atmosphere was great, the staff was friendly and they allow well behaved medium/small dogs to be inside.
Dont ever go to this place. If your looking for a job this is a terrible place they dont care about their workers only themselves God forbid you get hurt.
Theres a restaurant in Charleston SC that doesnt allow laptops or tablets and still has a 30-60 minute wait. I wish this restaurant did the same, then more people could discover their incredible breakfast paninis and lunch sandwiches. Cool staff, great building, just too many Internet loafers.
Great place for working with good coffee and friendly staff
I like the staff. The juice bar is good but $8 was way too high for a 16oz carrot, lemon, ginger juice.
Ordered breakfast online for 7:45 pickup. Breakfast sandwich was good and ready in time. The place is really cute.
I have often waited 45 mins for a simple order that should be fired in 10, even when the place is empty. The food is decent but can come out cold and not worth the prices they charge. When you get things to-go, the boxes come with oily finger prints all over it. I would say you are paying for convenience but it isnt convenient. Overall, this place is way too expensive for the service/food.
I got the Avocado Toast and the Juice Boost - both were amazing and super fresh!! I will say the avocado toast was smaller than I would have liked but still very tasty!!The Juice Boost was AMAZING- truly gave me an energy boost!
Nice place to get a nutritious bite to eat and do some work on the laptop
This is a place you go to mostly for the environment. The coffee and drinks are usually well done and the food is hit and miss which is a shame since their menu is not cheap.Don’t order online. If you’re lucky, they’ll make your order. If you’re incredibly lucky, they’ll make you what you actually ordered. I blame the system, not the employees.
Delicious little place. The sandwich and coffee were excellent.
This is a slow, ponderous place. Stood at counter for full 10 minutes waiting for order to be taken because she was making coffees for other customers. Place was understaffed.. One person prepares food and took her 20 minutes for an egg sandwich .waked out after going back a second time. Food nothing special and not worth the wait
My wife and I eat here almost everytime we are in Richmond, which has been at least monthly for the past 6 months. Their breakfast scrambles are delicious, the french toast is great, and there is a decent beer selection. Coffee drinks can be a bit hit or miss. Overall though, a good place for a great breakfast or lunch in an informal, easy-going atmosphere.
Sooooo happy to see a place that welcomes new arrivals in such a gracious manner!
Pricey, the Ham & cheese Cubano tasted strange. I had the tomato bisque with tuna salad. It was ok.
Friendly staff and great coffee. Food has never disappointed
They have the absolute worst customer service. I went there twice whilein Richmond because it was close to our hotel and convenient . The first time, I just ran into grab something quick and the boy who waited on me was rude and offensive. The next morning we ordered in advance to pick up food on our way out of town. They said it would be 30-38 minutes. Here we are 1 hour and 15 minutes later...food is still not ready, they just said they are making it now. No apologies, no remorse. Ridiculous. Do not go here. The food isnt even that good.
Sunday Brunch is a big thing in Richmond from what I can tell. Place was superrr busy for Sunday Brunch and only two folks working..only two! Waited over an hour for our food. When we asked the server for an update she indirectly communicated that she was prioritizing the smaller orders before ours (just to keep the crowd moving). I came in with a group of 5 and we could of all just placed our orders seperately then! If anyone’s reading this don’t order as a group. We weren’t the only group waiting forever for our food. We ordered Breakfast sandwiches and they were mediocre. Made on tough dry bread that’s more ideal for soup. Hot cocoa was great, got it fast. Finished it an hour before my food came out.
Had a really bad experience with a breakfast sandwich a while back. I wont get into it. But the manager reached out to me shortly after posting that review and made it right. More than right! The oatmeal was absolutely delicious. Im glad. I wasnt gonna come back... which is a shame because its such a lovely place in such a lovely location of the city. Mistakes happen. The sweet manager fixed it quickly and with a remarkable attitude.
I swear to wallace and grommet if the owners dont frame that picture of me and a date that some random guy drew of me Im going to be mad
Delicious lunch! I ordered the California Club. Very fresh and really good. Nice patio seating. Looking forward to going back again soon.
Yummy healthy food. Very clean environment.
Very cute and comfortable place to eat. Local place seemed popular.
Almost $30 for two breakfast sandwiches and two OJs, which took over 45 min after ordering to receive. I was far from impressed, and although starving, returned breakfast sandwich for a refund.
Food was pretty good, but the customer service was not great. The portion of food given was very little. Not worth what I paid. Might have to go inside to see if ill have a better experience.
Honestly I am very disappointed at the food I order and the portions side for the price I paid !!! I had there tuna sandwich and so called minestrone soup. I couldn’t finish eating the soup 😭 it taste like it came from a can and the tuna was bland and half a slice bread 😒 but I was shocked at price had to pay ..not going there again
Today I decided to try Urban Farmhouse for the first time as the menu looked delicious and it was close to my hotel. I did a curbside pickup order, told me it would be available in about a half hour. First interaction with the store was from Rose, who called about my matcha latte and some questions she had. Very short on the phone, but it’s a rainy day and they were busy, no worries. I pulled up outside the restaurant about 10 mins before my order was ready. It got to the time of my order being ready, but no one brought anything out or called me. I waited 10 minutes after my pickup time to call and ask if my order was ready. It was Rose again that answered and she was again very short with me. I asked if they would be bringing it out or if I should come in, her response was “if you want.” I would think that a business would call the customer once their curbside order is available OR advise the customer to call once arriving to check on their order. Instead my food just sat and was cold because the customer service was lacking.Overall the food was not very good. The mushroom and havarti sandwiches barely had any of the mushroom spread. The bread was soggy on all 3 sandwiches. The egg and Vermont sandwich was bland.
Waited 25 minutes for 2 cups of coffee....not great.
They didn’t let us to sit together just because they didn’t wanna move the tables around. We were 10 people. The food is nothing exciting. Nobody serves the tables. Not going back!
3 workers. 15 minutes waiting to place an order for a coffee and a bagel, and not one of the employees even made eye contact. Go to Starbucks just up the block. Atleast they staff there are corporate trained and know how to care for customers.
Very slow service. We waited over 30 min for our food and coffee
Nice and relaxing atmosphere . Food is delicious and all locally sourced . Employees looked very busy with orders yet still had time to handle every customer in a warm welcoming personal way. We will be coming here every time we are in the local area !!!
Food was bland but nice vibe.
An overpriced average tasting grilled cheese sandwich that takes 1.5 hours to receive as you watch them continually complete the orders of those that came after you... Ill pass on the return visit
Good atmosphere but overpriced.
Good food, amazing juices, nice atmosphere.
Terrible service. On November 19th I ordered a coffee and while waiting, the employee prepared and delivered three separate parties that ordered after me. An employee that was off work stopped in and then chatted up the staff while I waited. With no one waiting on orders it took 25 minutes to make a cup of coffee. After all of that, my cup of coffee that I tasted in the car on the way to a meeting wasnt even warm. Buyer Beware.
Stopped by here for Sunday brunch with family of 4 and baby. We all ordered sandwiches and food took over an hour to come out. Wait time was unreasonably long. Food was just average.
